A trending video of large number of youths, armed to the teeth, suspected to be Fulani's, is making the rounds on the Internet.

The video which has stired controversy of the possible location where it could have been recorded, has made some Nigerians to raise alarm of potential bandit attacks in the country.

A large number of youths dressed in Fulani regalia, could be seen wielding sophisticated automatic and semi automotic assault rifles and RPGs.

Sen. Tim Scott endorses Trump in New Hampshire

By Kristen Holmes, Kylie Atwood, Melanie Zanona and Kate Sullivan, CNN

Updated 10:24 PM EST, Fri January 19, 2024
UNITED STATES - JANUARY 11:

Former GOP presidential candidate and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott endorsed Donald Trump on Friday in New Hampshire.

The endorsement is a blow of sorts to his fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley, who appointed him to his Senate seat in 2012, and another sign of Trump’s commanding presence on top of the party.

“We need a president who will close our southern border today. We need Donald Trump,” Scott said while appearing on stage with the former president at a campaign event in Concord, New Hampshire.

“We need a president who will unite our country. We need Donald Trump,” he continued. “We need a president who will protect your Social Security and my mama’s Social Security. We need Donald Trump.”

While introducing Scott to the stage, Trump said the senator gave him his endorsement two days ago. The decision to wait to publicly roll it out emphasizes how significant the Trump campaign views his support, and its desire to play up his endorsement with as much fanfare as possible in the final days before the New Hampshire primary.

CNN previously reported that Trump had been in talks with Scott behind the scenes about winning his endorsement, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the talks.

Trump’s inner circle had originally hoped that Scott would endorse before the South Carolina primary, sources familiar with internal discussion told CNN. The timeline was accelerated, however, as Haley saw a spike in the polls in New Hampshire.

When asked about Scott’s plans during a visit to a New Hampshire diner on Friday, Haley replied, “We’ll wait and see if it happens.” She then ignored other questions on her way out.

Later Friday, she said in a statement, “Interesting that Trump’s lining up with all the Washington insiders when he claimed he wanted to drain the swamp. But the fellas are gonna do what the fellas are gonna do.”

The former South Carolina governor did not know that Scott was planning to go ahead with the endorsement, a source close to Haley said. Haley had called Scott in recent days to seek his endorsement in the 2024 race, a source familiar with the call confirmed to CNN.

People who know them both weren’t surprised by Scott’s decision to ultimately endorse the former president, but the timing of his endorsement — four days before the New Hampshire primary — was noted in both of their circles, given that Trump has been concerned about Haley’s standing in the state.

By announcing the endorsement ahead of the New Hampshire primary, Trump’s team aims to paint Haley as disliked by the people who would theoretically know her best in her home state.

Trump on Friday said Haley would “probably” not be his running mate should he win the Republican nomination as he viciously attacked her ahead of the primary in the state.

“She is not presidential timber. Now when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president,” Trump said at the campaign event.

South Carolina Reps. Russell Fry and William Timmons are also expected to campaign with the former president in New Hampshire this weekend, Fry told CNN, as Trump’s team launches a full court press against the former South Carolina governor.

While Trump’s team has projected confidence that the former president will win the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, his advisers have admitted that they believe the margins are closer in New Hampshire than any other early voting state.

Scott launched his presidential campaign in May and made his personal story a central narrative, often speaking about growing up in poverty in South Carolina raised by a single mother.

But after several months of failing to gain traction, the senator suspended his bid in November. He told Fox News’ Trey Gowdy at the time that he would not back another Republican candidate, saying he believed “the best way for me to be helpful” was to withhold an endorsement in the primary. Scott also said he had no intention of accepting a vice presidential nomination, reaffirming a position he had repeated frequently on the campaign trail.

Throughout his campaign, Scott’s criticism of Trump was relatively tame compared with his attacks on other primary contenders. He often expressed support for policies enacted during the Trump administration, but regularly argued that Trump lacked the support in key swing states needed to carry Republicans to victory in a general election.

Prior to the 2024 campaign, Scott had long been friends and political allies with Haley. In 2012, Haley appointed Scott to the vacant seat left by Sen. Jim DeMint, saying Scott had “earned the seat” from his personality and record. Following Scott’s departure from the primary, several of Scott’s financial backers quickly pivoted to Haley.

This headline and story have been updated with additional developments.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Manu Raju and Alayna Treene contributed to this report.

Mutfwang hails Tinubu for resisting pressure to influence s’court verdict on Plateau guber dispute

Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, says President Bola Tinubu is a “sound democrat” for not interfering in the gubernatorial election dispute in the state.

The governor spoke on Friday while on a “thank you” visit to Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

Last week, the apex court affirmed Mutfwang as the duly elected governor of Plateau on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The supreme court faulted the court of appeal for voiding Mutfwang’s election

Speaking with journalists after the visit, Mutfwang said the president’s “non-interference” in the governorship dispute has solidified Nigeria’s democracy.

The governor said the president was under “tremendous pressure” to influence the outcome of the supreme court judgment in the governorship election in the state.

“I came to see the president purposely to say a very big thank you to Mr President for keeping democracy alive in Nigeria,” Mutfwang said.

“As you all know, I went through a very protracted legal battle and I have said it openly and I am repeating that the Nigerian president is a powerful president.

“If he does not exercise restraint in the exercise of his power, he can intrude into the judicial arena and the judiciary will not be allowed to perform its function.

“In my own case and several others, I am sure we can attest to the fact that Mr. President allowed the judiciary to perform its functions as it should thereby guaranteeing its independence.

“I, therefore, must come to thank him for exercising that restraint because those who wanted to pervert justice also brought tremendous pressure on him to see how he could interfere, but I must put it that Mr President choosing not to interfere is a credit to his statesmanship
.

“A credit to his credentials as a sound democrat, and this is the only way we can ensure that our institutions mature to the point where they can guarantee not only the survival of democracy but also ensure that institutions should be able to survive, develop and outlive individuals.”

Mutfwang said he also informed the president about the security situation in the state.

“Of course, you know Mr President will not meet me and not ask about the security situation on the Plateau. I also give them an update,” he said.

“Things are relatively calm at the moment. The security agencies are in the pursuit of the perpetrators of this dastardly act that we experienced during the Christmas period and we are doing our best together with the federal government and international donor partners to be able to mitigate the pain of those families who lost their loved ones, and also those who are internally displaced.”

The governor said his administration is doing everything possible to “prevent further occurrence” of “needless bloodshed” in the state

Give me your January salary, it is for my welfare’ – Pastor tells church members

Published on January 18, 2024By Francis Ugwu

Pastor John Anosike of the New World Faith Ministry has told his members to surrender their January salary, or ‘first fruit of the year’, to him.

According to the pastor, his church members’ first earnings of the year belongs to him.

In a video, which was recorded during one of the church’s programs, Anosike told members of his church that they will testify before the middle of the year if they give him their first fruit.

“Your first-month salary is your first fruit of the year. It is for me and not for the church. I want to challenge you by the spirit of God, I fear nobody and I fear no criticism.

“If you call me your spiritual father, or mentor, this first month’s salary, which is your first fruit of the year, is for me and not for the church.

“It is for this altar. It is for this oracle, which is me. Are you hearing me? It is for this vessel. It is meant for my welfare.

“If you honor me with the first fruit of your first year, in the middle of this year, if you don’t testify, come back, I will give it back to you. You will see wonders. Covenant with my spirit.”

Ex-Imo monarch chairman freed after 13 days in kidnappers den

The Imo state Police Command on Thursday said it has freed the kidnapped immediate past chairman of the Imo state  traditional rulers council, Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri who was abducted by unidentified gunmen on 6th January,  2024.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.

He said the rescue of Eze Ohiri,  was successful because of the collaboration with the sister security agencies in the state.

Okoye, added that the security agencies took the battle to the camp of the kidnappers in the forest overpowered the kidnappers and rescued the victim.

According to the Police, “Recall the Command has been working assiduously in synergy with other security agencies towards ensuring that Eze Ohiri, is released and some arrests have been made.”

“To the glory of God he has been released, after a hot chase on the kidnappers at the forest by operatives of the Command’s Anti kidnapping unit. The Command will continue to work towards stamping out all forms of violent crimes in the State,” he said.

On how the Ohiri’s incident occurred, an eyewitness had said shortly: “This Saturday morning, Ohiri and his brother from the United state, decided to drive out in their car in the spirit of the Christmas celebration to visit some of their friends.  After their visit they returned back.

“As they arrived at Ohiri’s compound; They packed their vehicle, at one side of the compound, and as they both of them were having the final discussion before they could say bye to each other. A highlander vehicle filled with armed gunmen double crossed them and shot sporadically. They dragged both of them into the vehicle and drove away. They drove toward the Njaba to Orlu road.” However,  he added: “The Ohiri’s brother was said to have escaped.”
