Speak for yourself. I know of someone who graduated with First Class from one of the first generation Universities without a sponsor. To be specific, he's an orphan. Not until he got scholarship for MSc and travelled overseas where he bagged both MSc and PhD, he saw himself through school financially. Let me not shock you further with other examples. Making 3.2 CGPA and attributing it to lack of sponsorship is far from truth.

. there was a guy I knew at Unilag who was disabled. he sponsored himself through school came out with a first class. went for his masters, then later came back again to study law, still came out with a first class.
