of course there are anniversaries for various things even bf and gf can have anniversaries to celebrate how long they have been dating, but a marriage anniversary can only be celebrated between two validly married persons.
I don't know why you are going in circles, I don't remember saying they should celebrate a marriage anniversary.
Education / Re: 8 Words We Pronounce Wrongly Everyday – Everyone Is Guilty Of No 5 by sweetcocoa(f): 8:26pm On Dec 13, 2016
Secondary school grammar.

I pity people who had bad English teachers.

Meanwhile, there's the American English and the UK version, nigeria claims to use the UK version but manage to sound somewhat American.

church wedding is not what legitimizes a marriage, rather it is the payment of the bride price and registering it with the govt. that matters that is why a couple can simply quietly do court registry without any ceremony and still have a valid marriage.
Obviously.

Just needed to let you know there are anniversaries without marriage.
Religion / Re: DSTV Censors "God" and "Jesus" On All Their Stations? by sweetcocoa(f): 8:15pm On Dec 13, 2016
A very welcomed development.
Events / Re: Nigerian Man Completes Wife's Marriage Rites After 27 Years Of Living Together by sweetcocoa(f): 8:08pm On Dec 13, 2016
ernieboy:

being officially married means the man would have done all the necessary family requirements e.g payment of bride price. without this they were not officially husband and wife in the eyes of the law and of God.
Well, I don't know if he paid family rites before now, I'm speaking based on the pictorial evidence before us.

I don't think church wedding is what's valid before the law.

Also, people can celebrate being together, you don't have to be married to have anniversaries.

they were never officially married, which anniversary you want make dem do?
So they can't celebrate the anniversary of being together? And since when is An English wedding the yardstick for being "officially" married?

I get the feeling that said turtle will still be hunted by those boys.

The level of ignorance/illiteracy in nigeria is frightening.

If you asked me, I'd say this is just a waste of time and money. grin

An anniversary celebration party would have been better.

Ehn... I know. but you see, they had been discussing the topic in a serious way and if yoy had written it better you might have got some explanations or another person experienced it too. I didn't say I don't believe you but the manner you wrote it just makes it a little bit childish. what is "tayad" when you could just write "tired". I am sure you meant not to joke with it.

No offense intended.
You can't possibly be serious.

That's one obvious troll, c'mon man.grin

Please, madam Cocoa, what misogyny and Patriarchy is stopping women from achieving their political dreams. I dare you to name just one instance of this socirketk discrimination you talk about.
FYI, women are striving and breaking through even with all the misogyny, I'm not sure if the whole of the 1999 constitution was amended but I do know that, a large part of it was discriminatory against women, y'all talk like misogyny never even happened at all.

The religions of your country are blawdy misogynistic, yet here you are asking me to prove something to you. It's true that the world is made some progress since the days of old, but then, culture's being passed down from generation to generation, so there's no way a new generation won't carry some part of the old with it.

Fact remains, there was need for feminism, and more work is still needed because there's still some misogyny left in the world.

am not talking about strength here, all am sayin is most women not all ooo don't ve the zeal to push or go that extra mile to prove themselves all we hear is " don't you know am a woman "
Because they've mostly been conditioned by society to be that way.

Superior? what's the meaning? higher in quality? higher in rank? above? better? OK. A pentium 3 computer system of 512mb ram and 20 gig hard disk and a Corei7 system with 6gig ram and 2 terabyte hard disk are both systems but one is higher band specification and can run task faster and better than the other right? so why would you want to rate both as the same in quality? one thing in life is NOTHING IS EQUAL! Men are not equal women are not equal so how can you expect men and women to be equal? women have their advantages and men do too but generally God created men to be better and Nigerian understanding of what feminism is ( chauvinism) won't make a dent on it. Women are wonderful and can do amazing things that men can't do and men can do mind blowing things that women can't do. how many female inventors do we have in the list of inventors? help me out pls, yet men are equal to females.
I'm tired if having to explain the most basic of english to peeps, I swear it.

What's with the computer analogy for feck's sakes? Bottom line is, they both are computers at the end of the day and that right there is the argument. Are women human like men? That's all.
