Family / Re: Did I Do The Right Thing In This Situation?? by SweetLola: 6:27pm On Aug 29, 2015 |
ladygudhead: Re bolded bit I'm sorry to say but you are VERY misguided . The reason why there are crimes such as "statutory rape" is because children are not old enough to know better. As a grown man if a 5 year old girl gets naked , climbs into your bed and begs you for sex you should know better because you are the only adult in that situation ....the child is a child . So except for the rare case where a child passes themselves off as being of age when they re not e.g 16 year old lying that she is 18 etc there is absolutely no excuse A child can not give consent in the same way they can't enter into a contract etc until they come of age. 3 Likes |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Should Primary School Education Be Added To A CV? by SweetLola: 11:09pm On Aug 22, 2015 |
You will receive a lot of different answers, I say it depends on your level of experience / seniority of the job you are going for If your job is entry level or if you do not have a university degree then you may want to include Primary school education , after that stage I don't believe you should add it except if requested for instance in the employer's application form. Your secondary school education should suffice. Employers focus on QUALIFICATIONS...you do not gain any qualifications at primary school |
Education / Can You Do Jamb With GED ? by SweetLola: 10:41pm On Aug 18, 2015 |
I'm trying to offer assistance to someone who did not finish secondary school (stopped at SS1) At present full time school etc is not really accessible and I'm wondering if she obtains GED General Education Diploma. A qualification from USA which is considered as equivalent to finishing high school . Will she be able to sit for JAMB? I have checked JAMB requirements and I'm not sure. Also not sure if having passed GED and JAMB will universities in Nigeria accept the applicant . I note a lot of them have extra requirements such as specific grades at GCSE or WAEC. Any assistance greatly appreciated. |

Investment / Re: Why Can't I Maintain My Saving Habit? by SweetLola: 6:09pm On Apr 22, 2013 |
Well my one tip is to pay yourself or your savings first First examine your finances and decide how much you can / would like to save. Get a new bank account one without a cheque book or bank/ atm card and then as soon as you get your salary before you do anything else put away your savings and don't touch it. You first target should be to build up 6 months worth of living expenses in savings. An example is is you earn N150,000 ( I understand this is average or a fair salary in Nigeria ? ) Determine you will save at least N45k every single month (or whatever you decide) . So put N45l away as soon as you receive your salary into a designated. Also it is sometimes just as easy to cut costs as it is to make money . So examine your current life style and see what savings can be made (please spend a little bit on your girlfriend especially if she is the type that doesn't ask ). Generally your rent is more than 30% of your income then it isn't really affordable I have always done the above and no matter how low my pay has been in life some how I've always been able to save ...it came in very useful once when I was made redundant ...it was comforting to know I could go another 6 months before the money I'd but away for rent and food ran out Once you have 6 months of living expenses saved up , continue saving for other projects or to invest. 1 Like |

Jobs/Vacancies / Paralegal Or Junior Lawyer Needed by SweetLola: 3:04pm On Apr 16, 2013 |
I'm not as interested in your qualifications as I am in your ability to speak and write perfect English and your ability to grasp and implement new concepts. I am seeking a paralegal or junior lawyer to support me with property and conveyancing matters and other areas of the law. The role will also involve secretarial/ PA type duties so some flexibility in this regard is needed. The only MUST HAVES for this role are: 1. Perfect spoken and written English 2. Computer literacy, particularly word & excel 3. Ability to grasp legal concepts (will be tested) 4. Attention to detail 5. Professional approach to work I'll teach you everything else. Legal qualifications desirable but not compulsory. Salary - dependent on experience Location - Home office, V.I To apply please send your CV and also a short statement titled “Description of a situation where I had to use my initiative to solve a problem for which there was no set procedures” (max 200 words) to easycitylets@gmail.com |

I and my husband eloped ..not because anyone was against our marriage ...in fact they were supportive ...but we just felt a sense of urgency about being married that we knew no one else would understand SO we bought tickets to Vegas and got married . A year later our families did all the traditional stuff and we did our church wedding and no one was any wiser ...they celebrate our anniversary for us on one date and we celebrate for ourselves on another LOL ...we still haven't told them Live for yourselves and not for others |

Nairaland / General / Best Place To Buy Bedspreads And Sheets In Lagos by SweetLola: 1:44pm On Jan 02, 2013 |
Hi I'd be grateful for suggestions of places for high quality bedspreads and sheets in Lagos . I've tried Shoprite and all the usual suspects but they have pretty poor offerings i.e designs not to my taste also mostly stock duvets instead of bedspreads. Thanks in advance for your help |
Health / Re: Just Confirmed I Am HIV Positive by SweetLola: 6:56pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
Please make sure your previous sex partners know If you are scared of being harmed please tell them anonymously. In the United Kingdom and USA also the clinic / hospital ask you to list name and contact details of all your sex partners if you have any STD (not just HIV) they then contact them to ask them to get tested because one of tehir sexual partners has tested positive for an STD (they don't even specify which) If we don't have the same service here in Nigeria then please contact them e.g from an anonymous email address etc ...it will help to stop the disease from spreading and you might save a few lives na2day!: 1 Like |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Unconventional Job Interviews You Have Experienced. by SweetLola: 11:03pm On Nov 08, 2012 |
It was a sales job and it was conducted in Xfactor style ...no singing We had rounds of interviews and then they'd split us into two groups an done group would get told they were through to the next stage and the others woudl be asked to leave and so on until they selected just 10 people out of 100. I didn't get selected but it was a very novel and crushing experience This wasn't in Nigeria btw |
Fashion / Re: When A Low Class Person Wears The Same Shirt With You by SweetLola: 10:44am On Nov 06, 2012 |
Well I bought a not so cheap blouse a few years ago (cost £99) ...I liked it so much I bought it two one in pink one in black . I wore the pink a few times but wear the black more often Recently my cleaner was helping me clear out my wardrobe and I gave the pink blouse to her cos I figure I hardly wear it. I still own and wear the black which is identical. It doesn't make a difference to me , but I happen to know one of my friends who also bought the same blouse in pink ...I did wonder for a moment how she'd feel if she ever bumped into my cleaner in the exact same blouse ...but hey ...who cares |

Travel / Please Recommend A Good Hotel In Lagos (ikoyi/ Vi Area) by SweetLola: 1:10pm On Sep 26, 2008 |
Hello I'm visiting Lagos this christmas and need to find a good hotel within my budget. My past experience of hotels in Nigeria is that you can pay good money and still sometimes end up in a filthy room , without a shower (they put a bucket in the bath) or with poor service. What I'm looking for is somewhere thats clean decent, safe and with good facilities preferably where all the fun and entertainment is i.e Ikoyi / VI/ Lekki My budget is between $100-$150 per night for a double room (can also go up to $200 but prefer to spend my money on other stuff). Last time i booked a room I paid £60 per night i.e $120 and couldn't even stay there. Also if you know of any holiday houses / villas where I can rent the whole house/flat for 2-4 weeks , I'd be grateful , obviously would be prepared to pay a lot more for a whole flat / house. Thanks for your help |
Romance / Re: My Boyfriend Hasn't Asked Me To Marry Him by SweetLola: 12:08pm On Sep 12, 2006 |
Ally You just have to discuss it with the man. It doesn't mean you are desperate! . But we get ourselves into a lot of unecessary wahala by simply not communicating. If you are in a serious relationship, you guys should have a good idea of where you are going , and should have already discussed issues like 'do you want kids' 'how many kids' etc etc informally. Choose a relaxed moment and ask …when do you see yourself settling down ?. and as Seun said …listen. As a woman you should know whether or not this man takes you seriously…how does he treat you? . Have you met his family? Do you know his friends? Do you go to church together …or other outings/ family functions? If its something you are thinking about then you definitely need to discuss it. The answer might not be something you want to hear, but at least you will know! |
