Someone kindly help out please.

How does one go about tax returns on items bought?

Is tax returns only done in the airport before departure or can it be done before heading to the airport?

How soon can one process it?

Thank you.

Emirates doesn't use the port health certificate,I trI'd to get it but was told it was not required. They have like two different forms u can download from their website. One is the MEDIT and the other is a regular form which u need to give your doctor to fill and sign as well as ur fit to fly from your doctor. I travelled on the 12th of janunary at 35wks and 3days.

All I have said is void if they have changed their policy in the last couple of days. SeArch their website n Print their policy.take it with u to the airport.

chiprettie:
They asked for a medical certificate not port health certificate. And port health at the airport would ve to certified you that you are fit to fly also even with your letter frm the doctor. For the MEDIT you have to download it frm their website and submit atleast not more than 48 hours to your flight date.

Thank u. Will try again.

Sophiamax16:
I opened an account with bank of America yesterday. Jus passport, before then Wells Fargo asked for secondary identification, of either debit or credit cards bearing same name as passport, international drivers licence, SSN. I didn't have any of those as my debit cards are still bearing my maiden name and the others my surname comes first... it depends on the branch. I just prayed for favour after they bounced me in wells Fargo as I was entering BOA..

Did mine with my doctor's pediatrician about a week after deliver. It was $65 and the earring was like rubber.

But a friend did her baby's own at Macys and it was $60 which includes a 14k gold earring and the piercing.

Both piercings above were done in El Paso.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 8:50pm On Jan 30, 2017
Thank you so much.

American passport $80 normal timing
American passport $165 expedited
Nigerian passport $ ?
Nigerian visa $ ?
ETC $ 350
VOA $ 200

Please help me verify. Thanks

igetam:
Good question.

I guess for those who already planned to, or are willing to go to the states in the US where they can get the passports, getting it makes sense cuz its cheaper than paying for a visa, whether in the US, or the Visa on Arrival in Nigeria....u get it...huh?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 7:32pm On Jan 30, 2017
I'm sorry o wink

If u can get visa on arrival with ur American passport.....why do people still go ahead to get Nigerian passport and 9ja visa before leaving the states?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 7:13pm On Jan 30, 2017
Thank u so much @shawlar

shawlar:
Yes, you can.

The only advantage (if it can be called one) is that you would not need to process a naija visa or ETC

The ETC is just a letter written on the Naija embassy letter head and can be used only once while the 9ja visa is on the American passport and can be used multiple times (if its a multple entry visa sha).

ETC = Emergency Travel Certificate
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 9:59pm On Jan 29, 2017
Hello house. Pls I need a little clarification.
Can I get babys American passport and do visa on arrival in 9ja.

What's the advantage of getting a 9ja passport in the US before exiting.

What's the difference between ETC..expedited travel certificate and a 9ja visa.

Thank you.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 4:51pm On Jan 15, 2017
I don't know o. All I did was research the airline's policy on pregnant fliers. I was bounced by 9ja airlines cos I was past 32wks. So it's best u view what ur air line states and pls print it out if u can.
Emirates accommodates upto 36wks. 36wks 1 day.....u need to discuss with their customer careviews.

salmae:
Pls do we have to do this for Air France too?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 4:03pm On Jan 15, 2017

I went on their website and searched for policy for pregnant passengers. There is one for over 36wks I think its called "medif"and another for 36wks and below.
Printed it and took it to my doctor who filled it signed and stamped it . Also took a fit to fly from the hospital
And had a copy of my comprehensive medical report just in case I needed it.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Swisstk: 3:02pm On Jan 15, 2017
Hello everyone. In the spirit of giving back. Flew emirates to houston on the 12th. Presented my Dr's fit to fly and emirates fit to fly.....they don't accept port health. My bags weren't searched (wished I carried my palm oil wink )

poe experience

Cbp: good afternoon I see you had a large breakfast
Me: chuckled and said. ....yes a huge one
Cbp: what's d purpose of your visit
Me: child birth ( forgot to include vacation , seeing that I mentioned both during my visa interview)
Cbp: I see that you are with food
Me: yes
Cbp: how much do you have on your
Me: almost $10k (I had declared initially that I had more than 10k) was about to bring it out when he asked me not to bother.
Cbp: welcome . And the stamped me in till july.
He indictated C A on my form and on my way out after picking my luggage I was directed to another Cbp who confirmed I had the amount that I said I had and she told me to have a nice day.

Oh did I mention I wasn't sent to agriculture, so the following made it in.

Stock fish
Dried fish
Indomee
Garri
Pepper soup ingredients
Ogbono
Egusi
Crayfish
Peppers
Golden morn
My shito spice
Ground nuts.

Thanks Nairalanders for ur inputs and support. All the best people.

Never ever try it.. It must be personal documents
Morning house. About the matter of appling with company document or not. I just think the bottom line is the VO''s choice to issue or not. We applied as a family DH myself and our son. We are both directors in the company and I work as well ( not for the company). We presented the bank statement of the company .DH had mentioned on his Ds-160 form that he was the sponsor blah blah blah. I didn't know about nairaland until after our interview.
At the interview I was looking so pregnant but I had nothing to hide cos that was one of the reasons for appling in the first place.

Vo:morning passports please
We: morning and handled them over
Vo: what's ur relationship
Dh: we r a family
Me: husband wife and child (@ this point I just shut my mouth before I say rubbish, I was a bit nervous cos they were just bouncing people left right center)
Vo: what's the purpose of this trip and where r u going to
Dh: vacation and there after child birth. First Marland and then Houston
Vo:what do u do
Dh:bleep
Vo:yes.....what do u do (still speaking with dh)
Dh: blah blah blah blah and blah
Vo:what do u do
Me:yada yada yada (
At this point ge had asked for a Dr's correspondence and and how we intend to fund it so I brought out company's bank statement and budget sheet and my son was also insisting on wanting to hand over a document to him....which he allowed )
Vo: typing. . . ....ur visas have been approved. I know u know this already but please do not accept any medic aid and ensure u get all ur receipts before u return. Have a safe trip
Me: you too. Thank you ( I guess my nerves had d better of me that day.)

I'm not say it's cast in stone that if u use ur company it will be approved but we did and it worked for us. All the best.

drafrican:
@ chan baby truth is ussling with traders too)or for CBP to ask for ur cash and you don't have something substantial.
What was your budget at the embassy ? Most mothers have noted they like to hear you have $10,000 cash on you or in ur American account.
@drafrica what if the money is on your dollar card(issued in 9ja)instead of holding $10k cash.

Pls what sort of food stuff are allowed across and which ones will they bounce. Thank you.
