Hi Everyone and especially all satmates in Ghana,
I tried to post the write-up yesterday but it seems the automatic filter here saw it as a spam so here is the link to my home forum and thread

i consider this my real first post.*This is who i am*
HOW TO TRACK NILESAT (in ACCRA)

Things you need to have
1. A c-band lnbf
2. An analoge satellite decoder (preferably the old Strong Satellite Receiver models)
3. A monitor or television set
4. A prime focus Ku lnb (Eurovision, Star Gold Fuji, Fuji Silver and Just recently Strong Prime)
5. A minimum of 2.5m solid dish or a 3.0m mesh dish
6. A good quality coaxial cable
7. A lot of patience and time

Introduction and what you must know
The most important thing you have to set up is your base. For most c-band dishes, they already come with the option of setting them up for either fixed mounts or polar mounts. If you use the fixed mount setup as your base and try to track this bird, you are in for a very long and strenuous ordeal.
https://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/207521_1794532315706_1611638073_1698808_7863712_n.jpg

This is because you won’t be able to adjust for the needed angle at the base for you to get your signal (This is the angle which is usually set for C-band dishes when we want to set them up as motorized BUD’s).
https://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/207521_1794532275705_1611638073_1698807_3788336_n.jpg

I don’t know if it has been done through that method (the fixed mount setup method) but for my almost a year of trying and failing, I can tell you from my point of view that it can’t be done. The best way is to set the dish at the base as if you are going to setup a motorized dish system (As in the second image above).

Setting up your base
There are two adjustable screws on your right in the second image above. The first is vertical and the second is horizontal. Adjust the vertical screw so that a level and equal amount of space can be noticed between that support and the dish itself. Then adjust the horizontal screw so that an angle of about 10-15 degree tilt can be noticed between the base and the support clamp (as in the second image above).By the way, the second image above was taken whiles I was facing West. This should give you an idea where the dish will tilt to.

Tracking Express AM44
First of all, take your prime focus Ku lnb off the dish if you have it on and replace it with the C-band lnb and lnbf. Turn your dish and make it face West if it’s not already facing there and begin tracking Express AM44. Use the frequency 3.663(H)/10.807 to track this bird. If you use other lnbs apart from Diplosat, you may have to change your polarity to (V) since most of the C-band lnbs on the market don’t separate polarities properly. After you pick this bird, tighten the base to fix the azimuth, make a mark on the pole at the base to indicate your reference point and then bring the dish down. (By this time you should be standing infront of the dish looking East with the dish facing West).

Tracking Nilesat
Take off your C-band lnb and replace it with your prime focus Ku lnb. You should remember to seat the Ku lnb so that it enters the feedhorn or prime focus Ku clamp halfway. You must also make sure the protruding end of your Prime Focus Ku lnb faces a direction either 3 o’clock to your right with reference to “By this time you should be standing infront of the dish looking East with the dish facing West” or 9 o’clock to your left.
https://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/207078_1794731880695_1611638073_1698994_3803794_n.jpg

Either way, your results won’t affect or cause changes in the polarity of your signal. Input 11.411(H)/27500 into your decoder.Then begin raising your dish up little by little. If you are lucky, you should pick Nilesat with no hustles at all on your first lift. If you don’t get the signal on your first run, slightly loosen the base. This should not be loosened too much. It should be just enough to help you make small adjustments in the azimuth. Now, move your dish to your right (here I am presuming you are standing infront of your dish with your face or you yourself facing East) with little increments. You first move the dish to your right and then slowly raise up your dish. Repeat the process of slowly moving your dish up and down and shifting it to your right if you aren’t getting any signals.NB:The shifting to the right along the azimuth should be between just 1cm. With God on your side, Nilesat should be in the palm of your hands.

Ps: The old analog decoder was used because it reacts quickly when you are getting closer to the signal.My signal strength is 53% in the day and 47% in the night.This should give you an idea when to start tracking.The entire process began around 11am sunday morning and ended around 5pm. I'm now going to find time to properly adjust the lnb with the help of the junction below which i left close to the dish.

I hope this write-up has been detailed enough to help you on your journey to tracking nilesat.Thanks for reading.

@swordswifter
Did you get the mbc package, therein lies all the excitement.
@Brother Olofofo,
Not yet my brother.There are other parameters i have to consider.I believe the pace setters such as yourself call it fine tuning.Also from many researches,I've come to realize depending on your lnb you might not be able to receive some channels.I'm going to work on both and try to get the best out of my system.Currently i'm using fuji silver which is not performing so well as thought so after a few tweaking,i'll have to change it for Eurovision which i hear is much much better.The next phase will then be motorizing it for Eurobird and Astra.I am enjoying AMWAJ TV though.These Arabs are really enjoying things.I don't know why people waste so much money on MNET.

Hi all,
I'm pleased to inform my fellow satmates and especially sat lovers living in Accra that i have successfully nailed Nilesat in Accra with a 3.1m mesh dish.I'm so tired but will try to do a write up on the step by step process that was used to nail it down and post it as soon.A link to where it will be will be provided.Goodnight everyone and have a pleasant evening.

ANYONE WITH FUJI PRIME LNB ON MESH DISH.WHAT ARE QUALITY OR THE OUTCOME,SHOULD PORT IT,l want fixed some on mesh dish and l want someone to post his experiences for to know the quality.thank you
Hi gadotor,
There are too many fake fuji's on the market these days.Still the person i know is on mesh using one of those lnbs(both fuji and eurovision) and getting those birds you are searching for is one Alhaji at Accra*He is also on 10ft mesh*.The best people to talk to about this is Salamander and Sathob.I must inform you though that even though you'll get a guaranteed something from this Alhaji,his things are quite expensive.You should be having at least about 100GHc before thinking to approach him*Fuel and all for salamander or sathob inclusive*.By the way,i've heard strong has a new prime focus lnb but it will give you 10 less unit points on your signal strength from what the fuji will give you on any channel if you want to use that to track nilesat*Heard the beam is now very close to us and stronger than before*.It will be much cheaper though.Anyway,you'll still have to come to Accra.

@ike1844,
These people will always tell you what they think you want to hear.I remember once when the came out the very first week,they told a client of mine that their stbs were mpeg4 whiles in actual sense,they were dvb mpeg2 with h.264 video decoding compliance capabilities.He rushed to buy it and when he couldn't get mpeg4 channels,he had to ask me to get him a new one.Let's hope for all our sakes your info is true this time.Then i think you'll just go get ourselves their smartcards and all the problems will be solved.

@All,
Can someone please tell me *excuse my french* what the hell is going on?These people are just toying with us.Hmmmm,
By the way,multimedia group will definitely go $$$$$ when they see their subscriber base has really reached their target.I'm sure they are monitoring their numbers with the number of stbs that has been sold through the new promotional scheme they normally advertise on their channel*buy and win promo*.This way,they will be able to find out how many strong decoders and multitv digi boxes that are currently active on the market as at this moment.Only time will tell.

@All,
I've been monitoring this thread for the past two weeks now and have noticed on a day of very good news,we are able to fill out completely two pages.On a very dull day,we barely even fill out one page.We rarely have such days which leaves as with the regular days which make up between one to one and a half pages completion.On average,we fill out 1.5 pages everyday.So whenever you miss a day or two,you now know how far you have to read back to keep yourself up to date.*For those of you who may be thinking,"has anybody asked him to do this".I just thought it will help the forum*

all, let them continue 2 scramble them. I can bet u more freebies on d way. There wil always b sometin 2 watch some how some way if u get my drift.
@Olason,
I get your drift but i also learnt those things have got expiry dates oo(6months,1year,2 years and stuff).That is why i haven't bought one yet*if you also get my drift* wink.Like i would have bought one a long time ago.I'm always after accessories that are a reliable investment not these today on,tomorrow off kind of things.NB:If you want to comment or share ideas on this *you get my drift thing* we are talking about,please speak in code because it's an off thread topic.Thanks

@gadotor,
My brother the time has come oo.They are scrambling all the good stuff on 66e.I guess its now time to start moving the dishes.Nothing does really last forever. *At least this time it lasted a bit longer*.I'm just wondering about the numerous installers who used this bird as a sales pitch to make money.I'm sure by now their phones are ringing off the hook.

@swordswifter,
i get your drift. . . it is simply becoming irksome . . .this business of new boxes every time.
well for now i had already set my eye on the 4930(and a dreambox Grin ) so it's really doesn't bother me that much as I'm not really a fan of following trends asap-if you get my drift-all the same thanks for the correction.
You are welcomed my brother.By the way,getting a dreambox,hd complaint with digital terrestrial capabilities will be a plus.Is there any of such on the market by the way?Anyway,I'll have to find out.Let me know if you hear anything.Will see what i can dig up from my end.

i thought as much. . .69 this 69 that and now 69z !
thanks bro for the heads up. Grin
@Freshp,
the 69z is a genuine product according to the strong website http://www.strong-technologies.com/frmProdDetails.aspx?id=316#
I'm just worried about how the trends are going where you have to upgrade your gear every time something else comes to the market.Our communications authorities should try and set standards so that it will take at least 5-10 years before we all migrate to different standards.This will help us channel our resources for other things and reduce our imports for electronic goods *At least that is my little thought* and also we should try and buy the best once and for all.Trust me,you'll save a lot of money in the future.Now the counterfeiters are making so many fake products and putting them on our markets.Everyone should try and look at things twice before making a purchase.Peace!

Good work there but your fav sat might not be mine. So wats urs.
I deliberatly left out the sat & frequency because I want all satmates on nairaland to be able to do research on their own. Fta hobby is a diy bussiness.
The frequency and symbol rate has been posted in another thread. Go for it.
@Mwarawaa,
Good initiative my brother,
Though the channel is not "all that",it's still a good initiative.Besides,if after scanning your "favourite" sat and you are not able to pick it,it just means that the info is not meant for you or that you don't have the right gear to pick it up,that's all. cool
By the way,for those on the forum with more than a 5 dish setup in their abodes,it will make life much easier if next time just the name of the satellite is mentioned *even if we don't want to mention all the other details.This will prevent the tiresome process of scanning all the satellites at a go*.Guys,i hope that is understandable?!Anyway,a pleasant hunting day to you all.

I apologize if i wasn't all that clear on my post earlier on.The channel is a terrestrial channel but looking at the recent trends,i wouldn't be surprised if they popped up on Astra 2b with all the other Ghanaian channels.Things are happening people.Let's just keep our fingers crossed(as my brother gadotor always says).

@Odilibe,
you are not helping.[s]If you have any ideas,why not leave the UK and come back to your motherland and help it become great,, [/s]rather than sit there across the Atlantic and insight quarrels on this forum?(after reading through my post i have edited and have striken out the irrelevant comment which was not related to you*My Apologies*.Still,you insight quarrels with your actions and you know it).Anyway,everyday when we log on,we want to learn and find something new.Not visit the old stuff.When we do that what are we doing?!, Just marking time or in other words-going nowhere slowly.What is the essence of that?!So please,let us make this forum what we can all be proud of and stop your clandestine attitude towards postings here on this forum.Anyway,if you feel like attacking me,go ahead and do so anytime or anyday you want.I won't be bothered.But,and a big but,If you have to do so,It has to be for a very very important reason else you'll end up looking like "something else" i won't like to mention.I hope we understand each other.Have a good day!

I know i said i wouldn't talk about this matter again but i was really happy yesterday that my brother olofofo(who i know has been here for ages and whom I've been watching closely) began to understand that i meant and have never meant any harm.
@swordswifter

do no t take a stance like that just because people have a contrary opinion. keep doing what your heart tells you and leave the rest to God. we are all here to share and learn something.

on the issues of the old 17 on w7 and new 17 on the new satellite, i believe they are meant as platform for terrestrial broadcast in some southern African nation. let's not rejoice too much on the matter as what is here today will be gone tomorrow.

if really this our Thread is about FTA then we should not always jubilate anytime encrypted channels become available temporarily. if you want to enjoy dstv the basic subscription is about 2500 which is equivalent to $16 monthly, or try and find out what is happening on the "dark side of FTA" else let concentrate on real free to Air, which unfortunataly you can not really enjoy without a motorized BUD"

viva FTA.
My brother info.fta made me realize in all this,there are still people with a great sense of humor and that fta should be all about that not fruitless arguments.
Swordswifter, acording to section 3 paragraph 2 of the law of fta of the fed. Republic of Nigeria, I have considered your case and I have found you not guity as charged. You are hereby discharged. Moreso, your letter of resignation is also been considered. Hearing will resume on the 10th of December 2020. Till then keep reading and posting. This is my judgement.
My bother Freshp has always had my back.Thanks man
@info
Gbam!!
And today my Sister enitan*who i'm not very sure is a female lol* so will call a brother,has always had hardlines with important issues on this forum and i never thought i'll ever be able to have the pleasure of one day calling a friend just echoed it all.
@ swordswifter,
after reading through your posts, I couldn't help but stand in agreement with you. One, no one is hiding the satellite location of the transmission. Is it a must for a list of such channels to be posted on the forum? definitely not, since its been confirmed they are promising channels, that alone should motivate intending viewers to switch to that location to have a feel of whats happening. It is not all channels that you watch free on your Tv means they are FTA. If we are being truthful to ourselves, we know the differences between the two immediately we see the kind of programmes they air or by the name given to the stations themselves. Keeping some parts of the story makes it intresting, so that serious viewers will discover the missing link themselves.
A great pal of mine on this forum told me during the course of the week there's a HD station close to 13E where they show everything showbable concerning sporting events (those with great understanding will decode that), so peeps should try find that out. I never asked for more info from him because it wont be useful for me.
As for me,so far as it's over my skies,i just want to nail it just for nailing sake.I don't even have to know any frequencies.I'll track it anyway.That should be our spirit,that should be our drive,that should be our goal.Then we can learn more.Imagine,people are given satellite positions(angles),frequencies and symbol rates.They are even told of the fact that they can receive it wherever they are and are even given the estimated dish sizes to use.Even before hand,you'll have the first person who brought out the information(made the 1st post) listing the channels that will be received*ilish and yemoxtra*After which because we don't want to repeat them again by talking too much or in this case listing them more than once,we just inform everyone that the channels are "GOOD".Then you have some people coming back,after all this information,asking again of the channel list.Is it that we are just slow or we just want to encourage laziness?Let's all think about this.Anyway,I'm still happy.Whatever might turn out,i still know there are still "a few good men".Good morning.
