Hi all,
A new software is out for the Srt4910.It has brighter clearer pictures,a slightly different logo(much bigger in size with a slightly different font) and seems to be very stable than the previous ones.The SW version is 2.45p dated 5th July 2011.I don't know why it took this long in releasing it.It's been almost two months since the last one 2.44p
It has better handling on the shortcuts when browsing through the Dish Setting Menu.It has lyngsat channel update via the internet and is still fully loaded with all the previous apps.It still has no Picture in Picture and cannot still enable you to play Divx or AVI files through an external harddrive or flashdrive.We are still looking forward to that.You can also view whether you are watching a dvb-s or dvb-s2 channels by pressing the info button twice.On the whole it is clean but will still advice those with the very old models of the 4910 take caution in loading this new file(I would wait for a while first-Personal experience).

Hi Sword,

Great news! Since you are a BIG time professional; I was just thinking if you can help design an LnB BRACKET for that three-in-one setup? Will love to try my hands.
It's not a very bad idea spacevice,
I will check out a few schematics and see what i can bring out of that.Thanks for the vote of confidence.As for BIG i don't know much about that.I'm still a work in progress.

HI all,
Just did a little research and a small deliberation with Ilish and i have come to this conclusion.With 90cm,you can combine astra 2B, Eutelsat W4/W7 and Galaxy 11/Intel 802 all on the same dish(3 in 1 combination).It must be noted that according to sources those channels had been there for a while and that the Channels or Transponders for Intelsat Newdawn are yet to be activated.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by swordswifter: 10:28pm On Jul 19, 2011
Ilish:
Those channels have been there for 2 years now.Its an Angolan mux.It isnt Intelsat New Dawn guyz
Yeah Ilish,
because i wondered.It's really very difficult to determine a new satellite is having a working transponder without a spectrum analyzer or maybe by just coincidence you hit green on a random blindscan.I really wondered,
Anyway ilish,what is the name of the sat those channels are on and how come we are now noticing it?

Yes there is my brother. Try searching for free satellite internet for Africa.You'll be delving more into Vsats and some of its micro application.The satellite i remember having some free internet channels is Nss7(But i'm not so sure.It's being a while since i checked that). All the other information are out there. They are free for public consumption.

There are so many things we can do with the little we have, it's just that we are reluctant to try. 4 years ago i read an article on how i*deto was hacked. The keywords i still remember are electron microscope, smartcard, encryption, security film and security layer. With whatever you know now(refering to above mentioned names), add these to your research clues and lets see what we turn out. I have another method(theory) i think will work faster in retrieving bliss* keys. For personal reasons i will only communicate this to those i trust and know are willing to explore and learn(This is no issue of Guru this Guru that). Never stop learning

@Newtonn:
I don't know poo about this but some one said to record about thirty seconds of the .ts file and send to him to decrypt or get the key. So, if you can connect your decoder to any recording device say a CD/DVD burner or your PC and record the 30 secs, I guess you'll be good to go! Very much interested to see how this pans out. Tell me your story: lovala123@gmail.com
@Lovala,
I was the one who said that and for your information and everyone else's,you cannot record the .ts file that way(through a cd/dvd burner connected to your receiver).All you'll get is a blank or at least a 30sec recording of a video showing scrambled channel(which is not the actual data).What is required is a video file(with the scrambled channel indication) coming out of the processing circuit of your stb or dvbs tuner for PC's in the .ts format.That is what you can work with.For the rest,just read around for yourself.You might get much info than what i got.
*Our people are so interested in being spoon fed that they don't want to develop.Can you imagine ever since the time i posted that post,i haven't even gotten a single file to work with.What kind of people are we?Must we always wait for someone to do it so we can go and buy?These are just but a few questions i ask myself everyday*
FYI-If you have an old D+gle,try to take it apart and study the circuitry to see if any resistors can be bridged or removed to make or prevent it from ever expiring again.That is how we should all start thinking now and let's see if in just 5yrs we wont change the face of FTA in Africa.

@Swordswifter,any word on your project?
@Eltonluigi,
It was been completed but it's not operational at the moment. Physically it looks good though considering the fact it was my first attempt. I am going to consider all the tiny things i may have overlooked and work on it again. Infact i intend working on it till it becomes operational.I'll be posting some pictures of it very soon.
Thanks for asking after it.I thought guys weren't following my progress.Thanks again.
@Geometry,
I get what you are driving at but i know as an African we easily get discouraged especially when we don't have much money to spare on such projects.So i was just advocating that to be on the safer side and to do a one-time work like this with all the confidence that it will produce the results we are looking for,it will be advisable if the mold is constructed first. It will make all the other processes far too easy to even shudder away from.That was just my humble opinion.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: (diy) Design And Fabricate Your Own Satellite Dish Of "all Sizes", Ask How.now by swordswifter: 1:52pm On Jul 01, 2011
@Geometry,
If i may,i think the wisest thing to do for any beginner is to consider building his/her mold first just to get his parabolic curves as close to the actual pattern(curve structure) as possible. Everything else in your fabrication and the success of your dish antenna will depend on this particular aspect or area construction.

Hi all,
If you have a laptop or a desktop and a dvbs tuner or you have a receiver that can record scrambled channels (just as they are in the scrambled form) in .ts format, then record 30secs of that scrambled channel,write down the name of the channel, the Video Payload Identifier(VPID) number, the Audio Payload Identifier(APID) number and/or the Parent Payload/Process Identifier(PPID) number in a .txt form(text format) and add it as an attachment with the 30secs recorded video and the title "HELLO BIISS" and send it to mens.eric@yahoo.com. If i get the key,that person or the address that sent me the info will be the first to get it.
NB:Only information on signals receivable in Africa should be sent.Thanks and never stop learning and asking questions.

@aka tonero,
Don't even bother your head.Let them say what they want to say.Maybe it's just because they've never been arrested that is why.Malawi may be sparsely populated over a wide area of land and might not be bringing in much revenue to the paytv operators so you may go scot free with opening your mouth loud but hear in Nigeria and Ghana people get arrested everyday.Why?Because this is where all paytv companies make most of their money.I've seen it with my own eyes.From MyTV,Dstv and even Hitv.Hitv will just go around and catch you just based on tips and you the fellow will go and face the consequences alone but with Dstv,they are the very tricky ones.They have spies on most African forums and here on Nairaland i can tell you for a fact.What they do is build friendships,get to know your contacts and your contact's contacts.Allowing you to operate freely comfortably.They then come after years of understanding you and your circle of friends and sweep you all out.So maybe i might helped you sometime and you may know me a bit but because of your lack of caution,they might get me in the net someday through you.
@The rest
I've never heard anyone say they were never helped out of the forum by the so-called GURU's you are talking about,have you?(Going to all those in favour of Pidzo)
I'm sure all your answers will be a big "NO".So why don't you go ahead and ask?*You are already stealing and you want the whole world to know you are stealing?What kind of genius are you?!*All everyone is saying is,do yours dealings in a controlled manner outside the forum so that in any case the forum will seem above board in relations to any criminal activities.Is that too hard to understand?

this the hole i wanted to mount the 3.2m dish,
i dig 1feet deep, is it OK or i should DIG more?
thks
@Newtonn,
I can't answer the other questions for you but all i do know is any hole for mounting a big dish(specifically between 1.8m and 3.1m solid or mesh) should be 2ft to 3ft deep so that the weight or strong winds don't cause them to fall and get damaged.
@Geometry,
i've added some pictures to that particular album so you can take a look at it and tell me what you think.Thanks!
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: (diy) Design And Fabricate Your Own Satellite Dish Of "all Sizes", Ask How.now by swordswifter: 10:43pm On Jun 10, 2011

@ swordswifter,

f/D ratio is quite important in the designing of a satellite antenna, [dish].; it describes how deep or shallow your your dish is. there are values attach to different purposes for which an antenna is meant. it is the factor that describe the illumination method adopted in the antenna service life. there are different illumination methods for various reasons. i.e to guide against the interference from the ground [ground noise] or ground temperature.
i.e a too flat a dish would accept more ground noise than a deeper dish, while a dish that is too deep would not allow full illumination,,,and that is why we cut lnb especially for Out of-Foot- Print-Signals. because we are looking for a situation to fully bring larger percent of the converged signal to the lnb throat, apart from exposing the probes,.,,,here we are literally explaining 'beam angle'. some would call it apex angle and the rests. but then, the simplest way to understand this is to imaging your lnb to be a torch light placed at the focal point, facing downward,  the light from it now is expect to throw light upon the surface of the dish, remember your focal length is fixed, hence, the position of the torch is fixed, adjust the beam so as to cover the entire surface of the dish. this is the lay-man explanation of antenna ILLUMINATION, in visualization, one could reason it out that the further away the torch the easier it is to get the surface illuminated by the torch, and the more difficult it is for a touch too close to the surface to illuminate the dish surface.
From research results, it has being established that there is a critical value of f/D ratio for critical antenna illumination, ,,,and the value is 0.41  . I HAVE EXPERIMENTED THIS VALUE ,AND FOR REASONS, ADOPTED VALEUS LITTLE BIT BELOW AND ABOVE IT WITH VERY VERY GOOD RESULTS. i.e 0.39, 0.4, 0.42 and the extreem i have gone was 0.45. though i experimented 0.6 f/D before but not for TVRO, satellite tv.
i advice anybody in the house to choose 0.4 f/D ratio ,it worked for me.
@Geometry,
Thank you very much my brother.I'll still put my questions here so that many others can benefit.Thank you.*When i'm done with "THE PROJECT"-God willing,i think i'll start working on how to convert mesh dishes into semi-solid dishes.It's just an idea.I hope it becomes a reality*

What is the essence of the f/D in relation to dish manufacturing and satellite frequencies.*I mean does it have any significance since when you find the focal point,you've found it*
PS: The email i posted earlier was just to allow me get into contact with you so i can send you the details of the other links where you and i can talk freely.I'm still waiting for your mail.Thanks!

@ swordswifter,
from your parameters and properties, your dish seems to be made of metal, i believe that answer the reason for the magnitude of your f/D ratio, 1.02.[ very high] 'fabrication convenience' !. then, if i may ask, how many sections, if you are working on a metal dish.
plz, let me know,  it might help.
goodluck !
@Geometry,
It's of 6 sections.

that's what i'm talking about ! You are great ! Now that you are breaking the ice, let's go !
I strongly anticipate other members of this members to emulate this move of yours.
I'm waiting for your results. Goodluck. What size is THE PROJECT by the way ?
@Geometry
It's 244cm in diameter but i know with time due to expansion and cooling it will reach 250cm.
If all things are to go as planned these are the parameters we are expecting:
Frequency 11296 MHz
Diameter 2440 mm.
Depth 150.00 mm.
f/D 1.01666666666667
-------------------------
f/D = 1.02
Focal Length = 2480.67 mm.
Illumination angle for feed = 55.3 degrees
Space attenuation = 0.51 dB
Desired taper = 9.49 db for 10 dB edge illumination
A simple feed horn would have a diameter of 2.12 wavelengths for a 3 dB beamwidth of 31.07 degrees
Gain at 50% efficiency = 46.20 dBi
