Pidzo:Pidzo If you bought a diseqc switch of the same brand as the one you previously used, then you might want to try a different manufacturer(bearing in mind you have a high affinity for chinese goods).Try and buy quality and save yourself from headaches. As for your symptoms they are exactly as you described it.Sometimes you'll even be scanning Astra 2b and you'll see frequencies of Sirius 4 popping up.After the scan you'll go to those channels and they are dead.I see it all the time and the problem is caused by either a faulty diseqc switch or a weak IF tuner.Try out all your tests and your results will be either one of these two.You can even try a different receiver if you want. You will still come to the same conclusion. The information is now in your hands.Do with it as you please. |
Adex70:Thanks Adex, I will contact you at the other side by the close of business day tomorrow so we can talk more. What are some of the brands by the way? |
Ilish:@Ilish It's a very good idea but the problem with most diseqc switches is that when one port begins to malfunction,it turns to affect all the other ports. They might work for a while but in the end the problem returns again.I will still encourage you to still undertake your research too so you can find out for yourself and also confirm my results.Who knows, maybe you will find out something else i missed and then you can teach me. |
Ilish: Pidzo:Hi Ilish,Pidzo Connect your receiver directly to your dish and see if that will happen. The answer will be no.This is because the effect is usually caused by interference from the different satellite dishes you've connected to your receiver. This can even cause you to loose some frequencies especially when you blindscan (ie.Your receiver will not be able to see some frequencies). Your results will therefore not be a true blindscan. Causes *Deteriorating Diseqc switch *A fried disecq port *Using all satellites most of the time rather than selecting the satellite you are watching at one particular time(This opens all the ports in your diseqc switch leaving the other ports working whiles they are not needed) *A weak Tuner *Bad coaxial cable Solution Most at times the problem will be from the diseqc switch rather than the Tuner of your satellite receiver. However you must remember if you do not replace your diseqc switch, you will effectively have to replace the diseqc switch and the satellite receiver tuner. The coaxial cable on the other hand rarely is the cause but if you've been using it for quite a long time,i might want to think about changing it.Hope this helps. *On this note, how much does an 8 way or 16 way diseqc switch cost in Nigeria? |
I Hacked:Hi my brother, it's really a shame how people don't like to read.Anyway i will be talking to you soon. There is something i'm starting and will like to get you involved.Actually it's been there for a while but i think that it's now time to get you involved too.Let's speak later. |
Kungu:Hi Kungu, It's been a while.I can see you are still doing the good job you've always been doing.FTA world in Africa really owes you a great deal of gratitude. The above frequency has been confirmed.Atlantic bird 7 NWA beam loud and clear here in Accra-Ghana.Signal strength is appreciably high.If i'm not wrong which i know i hardly am,it will be easy to track this bird than Eutelsat w6.A dish size of 80 or 90 cm will be more appropriate but others could also test how low a dish size they can go to get this beam.Have a pleasant ASAS sunday everyone. |
badaru1:hi Badaru1, I've also done a preliminary test on this frequency a couple of minutes ago on my 1.8m motorized pan dish and it doesn't look good at all.I've noticed some signal activities around that 7deg west vicinity but the frequency is still popping fluctuating in the red.Since i've been cured from ASAS for some time now i'm not in a hurry to carry any tracking tools out.Maybe i'll do that after the christmas festivities on my 3m "semi-mesh dish" so i'll be looking to you guys(nairalanders in general) for any latest updates on this bird.Cheers! ![]() |
Kungu:This is what we are talking about. Thanks Kungu for this wonderful update. Now those with huge dishes can tweak around this frequency to see if the others can pop out. Thanks again and a merry christmas to you and all loyal productive nairalanders. |
obnelly:NB:Don't ever forget Kenya my brother. Some of our great discoveries and triumphs in satellite tv have come from there. |
@Simnibona, Good job man.I've been watching with a very keen eye and i must say,you are doing what most really appreciate on this forum and that is taking the initiative where it matters most. For your region i must say you are at a very good location to pick the new Atlantic Bird. However from your pictures i can see you have to work on your dish alignment since some of our 1.8m dishes here in Accra give approx the same results on some of the C-band samples you showed here. Also try to contact I-hacked so your guys can further test his amp cause i know his major limitation was the size of his dishes.Good job once again and keep up the good work. Q.How much experience do you have in metal works and what are the physical dimensions and properties of the metal sheets you used? R.*the question above is due to the fact that the work done looks very professional* A, |
@ All, There is an info going around of Nilesat(Atlantic Bird 7) being tracked with a 90cm dish in West Afica. It may probably be the north west African beam-i don't know. But if by any chance anyone has a tracking frequency of this beam, kindly let us know(Even if it is a data Tp).Thanks. |
Hi George_D, I have some few questions i will need your help with 1) Comparing your current Atlantic Bird 7 signal results with the old Atlantic Bird 4a signal results, what will you say is the average signal increase on all tps on the new bird(Atlantic Bird 7) ? *An estimated value is OK* 2) Also considering the strongest tp on the Atlantic 4a that you used to receive(that you remember),by what percentage has it increased on the Atlantic bird 7 satellite? *A close to accurate value is important* @All in Nigeria, From the north to the south of the country, how sharply does the signal of Atlantic Bird 7 drop? |
gadotor:What are you thanking me for? My paddy i beg. |
simniboma:The best person to talk to in relation to the above question is our PRO Gadotor. He has all the answers and so much more. |
lovala:The above mentioned satellite is still on.All Tps are active. |
Hi all, It looks like Atlantic Bird 7 has already started operations. This morning some transponders were not operational whiles others were having improved signal quality.I will be able to know for certain which frequencies have moved, those that are staying and those that will be joining later in the evening. You can check for it's status and in orbit parameters on http://www.n2yo.com/database/?q=Atlantic+Bird and http://www.n2yo.com/?s=37816 respectively. *As for my post this past weekend,i never mentioned any names but i know the fellow knows himself. The method is still not yet complete that is why we haven't rushed to bring it out yet so if you want to claim it as your brain child we won't talk.We will be watching.I've said my piece of mind* |
*If someone spends 6months to a year and more, trying to refine a process: a technique, standing in the rain/in the sun, day and night, reading ebooks upon ebooks, making endless phone calls and embarking on trips, just to try to perfect it, spending money here and there then someone just picks it up and wants to polish it and claim it as his/her own?!That to me is unacceptable.* We should learn to give acknowledgement when it is due.We will be watching. |
badaru1:Badaru,you are right.Infact i was off this page for about 3 weeks always looking through it as a guest and i kept asking myself. Are people actually learning? Are people people actually trying to discover something new?All i kept on seeing were just endless repetitions and excuse me to say very very useless questions. It made me realize why the founders of the forum will keep to themselves even if they find something new.Learn people learn.Let's stop all this spoon feeding business and find out things on our known and this page will be richer than what it once even was. |
Apenajide:@Apenajide, Are you sure the match is tomorrow and not on Sunday rather? |
odilibe:@Odilibe, It's good to be critical and observant but i categorically stated 2 manufacturers why just look at only one?!Anyway, try looking at the specs of the NJR2843S or the NJR2843E.Both are products of New Japan Radio Co Ltd.I'm sure it'll have what was missing in the Norsat PLL LNBs(It seems they just want to optimize their profits thereby separating the low and high frequency LNBs).Anyway,as for the Prices i already told you they are very expensive so i don't know why you were still emphasizing.Good things cost more you know. |
Adex70: Iron2011:Good Evening Adex70 and Iron2011, I wanted to post an article of the workings of these LNBs but the concepts are a bit technical and complicated i might end up confusing most people in the long run.I'll therefore ask you guys to give me a day or two to properly prepare an easy to understand article of the workings and advantages of these LNBs.However if any one else is eager to know how these LNB's look like or maybe their market prices, you can look up Norsat Ku PLL LNBs or New Japan Radio Ku PLL LNBs online.Norsat has been in the market for over 30yrs and New Japan Radio has been in the market for over 50yrs.Hope to finish the article soon. |
Lov4sat:Please let as try to learn the right thing. There is nothing like an HD lnb.HD is just a format for video processing or video delivery.Any normal lnb with a compatible HD receiver will pick HD channels. The manufacturers play on our ignorance and lack of willingness to research to just write anything on their lnb boxes. You may even see an lnb that has a noise figure of 0.1,0.2 and 0.3 all on one box.All these things are just extreme deceptions aimed at either keeping us confused or always in the dark.Let me state and you can quote me anytime that the result of a higher gain of any dish is directly proportional to the size of the dish, the accuracy of the dish mold, the delicate and careful assembly of the dish itself and the unique tracking technique that will be employed by any installer at any given time.(I challenge anyone who thinks otherwise to disprove me). If you have an lnb that has passed all the recommended quality assurance tests of the basic DRO lnbs, you will always come out with the same results.(This however does not apply to PLL lnbs which are far more advanced, expensive and truthfully will not even be considered by the regular African sat hobbyist) |
Hi all, I'm not so much interested in that crap called dstv.I don't watch it anyway but if you are really in desperate need to watch it with a valid subscription on 69 or 69x and above you can try this.If it works for you,you can thank God,your stars and maybe me later. If it doesn't,don't loose hope.Just keep exploring. 1.Copy the 63x file to your pendrive 2.Go to the data tranfer menu and highlight the file 3.Press the button that represents upload key not the one that represents upload stb(cause that won't work). 4.Exit and restart the machine *Remember to remove your smartcard before you try this *Only try it on a genuine strong receiver and *No one should ask me for that software.-I don't have it and i don't need it. |
@The Dunderheads running things at the Helm of Affairs at DSTV This is directly aimed at you guys. For a very long time you've milked the hard earned cash of the ordinary African so much that it has gotten to the point most of us are now fed up with all your antics.Taking over the communications authorities of major economic countries in Africa by buying the civil servants working there out with full bouquets and regular fat monthly bonuses so no other PayTv operator with better and cheaper services can cut into your market. We know it all and now people are starting to wise up.The dongle thing is just the beginning. If you guys are are wise enough to study your sales charts and output demographics you will know how easy it was that this kind of thing could have crumbled your empire(History has thought that empires do fall). This is just the beginning because as human as we are, whenever we have the will,we find the way.Looking at the demographic of satellite receiver owners in Africa, those using fta's are far more than those using dstv decoders. They outnumber you guys 3 to 1 and the numbers keep on rising because you can never beat FREE.The best thing that you guys can do(this is just an advice) is to make most of these people who are likely to hit the dongles again(if another is to pop up or a breakthrough is to occurs on the old devices) is to keep a few of the channels open(at least like the ones that are open now) just to make them a bit comfortable(which has been proven that when most people are comfortable where they are, they don't want to search for any new things.A clear example was when the dongles were running, people weren't exploring anymore). If this advice is taken into serious considering, the thought of buying an Avatar or 2011 fta or the rest won't even cross the minds of most people here in Africa(Think of it as your company's way of giving back to the society it took from). However if this advice is ignored, then all i can say is i wish you guys all the best in keeping people from watching your channels for free(Because seriously, now most Africans are realizing the importance of research and you can't beat the majority.*You are bound to find a way when you look* and that's a constant in this universe. They did it once, they will surely do it again). |
Hi everyone, It seems some maintenance work is going on at MULTITV now.The signal keeps coming on and going off. When it becomes stable, try to blindscan or NITscan your decoders.I am having a hunch. |
I Hacked:I hacked, I will contact him but it's not about the motor jacks.I already have one of those on a 1.8m dish and will be getting a second one soon on a 3m dish.I just need the fixed dishes so i can monitor the satellites 24/7. |
captainus:I tried there once they weren't having it only the 4way diseqc switches.I hope they do have some now. |
@All fellow Ghanaian Nairalanders Where in Accra can i get a 16way diseqc 1.1 switch? My 8 way diseqc switch is completely full and i have two extra dishes waiting to be connected. The info is needed urgently. Thanks! |
gadotor:Thanks for the info my brother. |
gadotor:Thanks my brother.I'll be looking forward to that.I want to streamline all the Ku sats on one C&Ku 1.8m dish.Signals have been dropping lately. |
Hi everyone, Are the channels or signals on Telstar 11N still available?Need the info to check out something right now. Thanks |
I Hacked:That is a really nice installation I Hacked. It looks cleaner and neat than the other one which was first posted earlier on ie. on this same thread. |
