Family / Re: Living With My Married Elder Sister by Sylver247: 10:49am On Jun 19, 2020 |
Adunny07: I can bet that you are going to do exactly the same thing when you get married. There's always that tendency among women to maltreat someone who is beneath them or possess less power than they have. It gives them an orgasm doing that. It's even more regrettable that this is your sister. Mine came from my elder brothers' wives. These people are so lazy they can't lift a finger yet they expect you to work like a camel. When you talk people will say she's training you. Which useless training? You destroy someone's self esteem and you call it training. My advice to you is to seriously start looking for opportunities to get out of that house. Job, marriage, further study...just look for opportunities. 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Total Value Of Your Cars Relative To Your Net Worth by Sylver247: 12:42pm On Apr 29, 2020 |
It's only in Nigeria that car is seen as a big deal. Dear Op car is a necessity. Out there in the west even barbers and waiters have cars. See ehn, if you want to buy a car, then buy a car. Not a moto. Don't buy something that will end up frustrating your life. It's a one time expense, and will be there serving you for at least 7 years. I think our poverty mentality is dealing with some of us here. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Following the partial relaxing of the lockdown from Monday, many people will be resuming work. But with cases still on the rise, is it really safe to resume work now? How many people are ready to leave their homes now. Are you one of the bold ones? |
Nairaland / General / How Much Do You Pay As Electricity Tariff Monthly? by Sylver247: 6:57pm On Apr 28, 2020 |
I am kind of getting tired of the whole situation in my current abode. I pay up to 5k monthly for electricity, sometimes more. Still it doesn't last till month end. For a mini flat in a suburb of Lagos, that is too much. It used to be less than half of that amount as at last year. I only have one fridge and TV, I don't iron as I dryclean my clothes. I'm just wondering the average amount people pay for electricity in Lagos. Is there an increase in tariff like my landlord is making me believe? If there is, should it be this much? How can I get information on my consumption? Lalasticlala can I please get some opinion on this? |
Health / Re: My Penis Discharges Pus, What Could That Be? by Sylver247: 3:29am On Apr 24, 2020 |
That's an STI. Either Gonorrhea or Staph. Go and do test in a good diagnostic laboratory. They will prescribe a combination of injections and tablets that will fight it. Be careful from now onwards. |

Nigerian politicians. It's always about the money. First thing they go for is always the money. He hasn't even looked at what is on ground project wise for the people. It's how to quickly secure the accounts first. This singular action just tells you how the next few years are going to be. All the systems and procedures put in place by the outgoing person will be jetissoned. Na money first. We don't have a government, just a bunch of very irresponsible, power drunk, greedy people. 2 Likes |

I was in that service that day. He never said most of the things in this post. He never talked about staff or whatever. He only said that most people are moving out and others would also want to move, but that's not the solution. Stop lying against people. |

Car Talk / Re: Can You Drive On Nigerian Roads Without Scratches? by Sylver247: 9:27am On Dec 19, 2019 |
Few weeks after getting my car, I just woke up one morning to find a very deep scratch close to the left headlamp. And I never had any encounter on the road the previous day. I just weak. My suspicion is that a jealous and wicked fellow did it in the night cos I just painted it and it was shining. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Trying really hard to justify the unjustifiable. Nothing was said about the two judgements to release him which the dss disobeyed. Or is the executive free to override the judiciary whenever they want? You have already sat down and decided what his intentions are without following due process of justice. How on earth did we end up this way? |
Career / Re: Should I Start A Business Or Go Back To School? by Sylver247: 10:29am On Dec 05, 2019 |
Sheggz22: At 24 you can and should go back to school. The good thing is that you've learned your lesson from the first experience (I'm hoping you have) and will do well this time. A degree gives you an advantage. Don't let anyone deceive you. There are opportunities you can never have access to unless you are a graduate. Think long term, not just immediate gratification. Going to do popcorn can't take you far in the long run. While you can do that while studying (get someone to manage it while you oversee things) you don't have all the time to study later. This is Nigeria. You can change course to something else, but make sure you go to school. You will start seeing opportunities that require your degree much later. |

Career / Share Your Experience Working With A Problematic Boss by Sylver247: 2:30pm On Dec 02, 2019 |
So during the weekend, I was just thinking about the Nigerian employment system and the sometimes enormous challenges employees go through. Apart from very stringent requirements in terms of education, age and experience, there is the very rigorous selection process which sometimes lasts for months. Then if you are eventually selected, the challenges of the job can be gruelling sometimes. Apart from the normal everyday demands of the job, sometimes you get to work with very difficult people. Some bosses can really make you regret your life. I have seen and heard about bosses who abuse their subordinates emotionally and sometimes even physically. I once worked with a boss who would push you, call you names and yell at any slightest thing. Have you ever had such an experience working with a difficult person? How did you or are you handling it? 7 Likes

Politics / Re: Contact Details Of The 109 Senators In Nigeria by Sylver247: 7:49pm On Nov 23, 2019 |
Just called my Senator now. He picked up and assured me that he is already against the social media and hate speech bill and told me some of the things he is doing to avoid passing the bill. He sounded really ANGRY saying that since yesterday he hasn't rested from calls from Nigerians. He said he's one of the few people who are against the bills yet he's been insulted, that he would stop fighting against the bill because of the insults he's receiving. I apologized and begged him to continue. Before I could finish he cut the call. But I recorded the call sha. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Family / Re: My Rich Brother Does Not Care About Us.... by Sylver247: 2:36pm On Oct 27, 2019 |
A lot of people here do not understand where the op is coming from. They have never been in these situation before, they are just replying based on their imagination. If you were born and lived all your younger years in a very close knit, loving and caring family like the op, you would understand how it feels to suddenly loose one of your siblings, not to death but to disagreements. Your sibling is alive but it seems like he's dead, you see you brother relating very well with others, helping others, he's known as a great guy who's always ready to help. But to your family, he doesn't care. I'm not surprised that it started after he got married. It always does. To those saying leave his wife out of this, yall don't know anything. If his wife is not responsible, who is? You guys don't understand the extent of women's influence on men. Some of them go to the extent of using spiritual means to turn men into sissies, in connection with the wife's mother. People don't just change overnight. If the brother was fed up with them, he would have shown that a long time ago when he wasn't that comfortable. The truth is that he still loves his family but a lot of things are happening underground which only the wife and her family know. Op, there is nothing you can do in this situation other than keep living your life. It's hard but that's the reality. The more you try to force it the worse it becomes. Let your family continue living their lives and ignore him. He will come to his senses if he wants to. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Romance / Re: What Type Of Guys Do Women Like? (Character Wise) by Sylver247: 8:41am On Aug 31, 2019 |
No woman will tell you what they want in a man, because they don't know. Women take decisions based on their feelings, not logic like men. So how a man makes them feel will determine how much they accept or care about him. Women don't choose, they wait to be chosen. 4 Likes |
