@ Tundewoods, Nobody called this option the panacea for online payments in Nigeria, however, the gains derived from this new innitiative should not be waved aside. In fact, this solution is a boost not just to website owners, but to Nigerians that desire to send money in a stress-free manner. Nigerians can now send money to anyone in the country without having to leave the comfort of their homes, because Interswitch withdraws directly from one’s bank account. This option comes as a huge relief particularly to many Nigerians that aspire to collect payments online without having to instruct the customer to queue up for hours in the bank to do that. This option is ideal for people who do not have the N150,000 fee to pay Interswitch to have it’s webpay solution installed on their website. The seamless integration thing that you talked about will have to come at a price that most folks cannot afford. Now Nigerian web merchants can sell products online, 24 hour a day, 7 days a week without any drawback. This is so cool, when one also considers the fact that COT is not charged on Flash me cash accounts. Contrary to your pessimistic view, I think this modest development is worth celebrating. |
This has been made possible by First Inland Bank. It is called “Interbank Transfer” Service. This is how it works: You sign-up for a flash me cash account on their website. It is an account that works with your phone number, it automatically assigns your phone number as your bank account number. This process take less than 5 minutes. You can now refer your customers that want to pay you with interswitch to the “Interbank Transfer” website giving them details of your Flash Me Cash Account (Phone Number and Account Name). The customer is them forwarded to the secure payment platform of Interswitch to complete the payment transaction. The Customer's Interswitch Card will be debited while your Flash Me Cash account will be credited. Immediately your Flash Me Cash is credited, you will receive an sms notification. The customer is only charged the normal 1.5% fee for the transaction. You can withdraw your money from any First Inland Bank Branch, but you will have to tender proper Identification. You can visit their site for more info: www.firstinlandbankplc.net/ Webmasters, what do you guys think about this development?? |
You guys should please tread softly. The Web Hosting Business is a pretty sensitive one and it requires extreme patience, both on the part of the Host and Client. A newbie client of mine once designed a Powerpoint presentation and expected it to work perfectly as his website. When his warped concept of web design refused to yield any positive result, he later insisted that the problem must be from our server. When one thinks of the fact that some clients can barely handle the mouse effectively, it becomes imperative to handle the case of some customers with kid gloves, for the sake of peace. |
Yeah, That can be done. However, your Nigerian contact must own or work with the company who's website he intends to register. The Website can be administered from anywhere, but If you intend to employ the service of another host, simply provide us with their Server details. Please note that the registration process of NG domains could take a long as a month in some cases (Nigerian Factor). For more Info, you can mail me. domains at syskay.com.ng www.syskay.com.ng |
NG Domains are only available for individuals and organizations that are based in Nigeria. The registry usually confirms this by calling the intended registrant. |
@poster, Of what good will this knowledge be to you. Money is only a by-product of Inventions, Innovation and productivity. Arguments like this usually leads nowhere. |
The Web Design Job is flawless. There is nothing wrong with domain name as well, since it is meant to promote a book. Nice Work. |

Spam is one major problem that Nigerian Web Hosts face. If the spam messages actually originated from one of your websites, then they have every right to terminate the account of the particular site found wanting. However, any site that is not in violation should be turned back on. |

Perfect Answer. First learn to walk before you attempt to fly. |
even at 50k, it is still too expensive. Interswitch is not the solution for online small businesses in Nigeria. |
Packages like this are well known as “Scam Plans”. The Web Hosting market has become so saturated now, that most web hosts have resorted to scams to stay afloat. Most of the features they advertise, simply cannot be supported on a shared hosting platform. Each client will be sharing scarce Processor resources with many other clients, so all that talk of “unlimited” this and that, is nonsense. So if you intend to host a small or medium size website, you can go ahead and use them, but if it’s a large website, the moment you begin to use too much resources, they will delete you account and ask you to look for another web host. However, 90% of people that subscribe to their service will own small websites, so this is more than enough to keep them in business. |
I have not used it personally, but i know someone who had a very bitter experience with it. Despite all the proof he tendered about the card being his, the order was still declined. Your could still go ahead and give it a try, since some other websites will still accept it. |
It seems to me that Nigerians who return home from the US and UK have a better deal in Naija. They get better Jobs than their contemporaries in multinationals. They also get key appointments in the government. They are also warmly welcomed in business circles, compared to the home based folks. |
Yes, we need more manufacturers, but the cost of manufacturing goods in Nigeria is too high. Many manufacturers have relocated to neighboring countries and are doing far better there. Some Nigerians that have listened to this kind of gospel in the past, have got their fingers burned. This kind of sermon should only be preached when the government has created the enabling environment for manufacturing to thrive. Not everybody has the kind of financial muscle that dangote can flex. |
It works for some merchants, while some other merchants reject it. many online merchants simply don’t wanna have anything to do with Nigeria. So if you don’t want any disappointments, ask a friend or relative abroad to help you out with your purchase. |
How many of the big players in the web hosting industry brag about stuff like this? Moreover, in a place like Nigeria, the issue of speed does not arise since most Nigerians still surf the web with slow internet connections. It takes about 30mins to download a 5 meg file with most naija ISPs, while our counterparts in western nations get the same in less that 10 seconds. Serious Web Hosts brag about Customer Support, Server Uptime, Hardware Configuration and Software dependability. |
@ bodun, Flash-me-cash does not require any sensitive information before you can sign-up. The system basically works with your phone number. Your self-indulgent security tips are unwarranted, since customers will still need to visit the bank to make any deposit or withdrawal. I have been using flash-me-cash for the past 4 years and I have always accessed my account from that website . |
Hello, It is not a normal bank account as it has some limitations. However, it is a very convenient means of sending and receiving money, using their web portal or your GSM phone. You can sign-up instantly at their website: https://www.flashmecash.net/ |
@Afam There is a comma before the uptime word. As a web host, you should know that this stands for server uptime, not phone uptime. |
The important factors to consider when selecting a Web Host are Hardware (Server) and Support. Most Web Hosts simply forget about their clients after they have made payments. We offer phone support, 99.9% uptime Servers. Your site will be on a top-of-the-line Dual Xeon server that can provide instant backups of your site (this is available via the control panel). Our control panel is one of the best in the industry, and has over 52 scripts that can be installed with a click of the mouse. Syskay Systems www.syskay.com |
This is the reason why many Web Hosts are adopting strict screening measures for intending clients. Allowing one scammer on your server can ruin the lot of innocent clients. |
I have noticed that most people that try to promote Celtel on this forum end up misinforming people. The 33k/sec tariff attracts a N400 Monthly payment. Why did you not mention that. MTN’s equivalent is better cause the off-peak rates apply from 7pm. |
They say Google is the most popular search engine in the world. But I was just wondering, which search engines is the preferred choice of Nigerians. Is it Google, MSN or Yahoo?? |
I had stated on this forum that the N100 migration fee charged by celtel is tantamount to nothing but exploitation. The two other operators (GLO & MTN) succeeded in migrating their customers to more juicy packages free-of-charge. They only imposed a fee for subsequent migration to prevent abuse. Even after migration, you will find celtel’s charges very disappointing. This is simply because the off-peak charges only apply from 10pm. Meaning that for most of the day, you pay 66k/sec for your calls. |
