FamilyRe: Financial Problem In Marriage -- Please Advice by tabithababy(f): 3:56pm On Sep 03, 2020
kbrown202019:
I am dealing with a financial issue that is impacting my marriage and I need advice. This is long -- please bare with with me. My husband and I are based abroad. My husband is the youngest of 7 siblings.  My mother in law is around 80 years old and she is based in Nigeria. Some of my mother in law's children  live in Nigeria while some live abroad.

Earlier this year, my mother in law's children decided to sell her home in Lagos and have her move in with her son in Nigeria. My husband was against selling the house and having his mom move in with his brother but since my husband is the youngest and he is abroad, no one took him seriously. Once The house was sold, all the siblings got an equal portion of the profit.
The siblings are fighting among each other and my mother in law is heart broken. My husband loves his mom and would do anything to make her happy.

g. I love my husband and want to support him, I don't want to be selfish and want the best for my mother in law but I feel like the financial sacrifice is too much for my husband and I to bare alone. My husband said we don't have an option. If my husband moves forward with his plan and we start to struggle, worry that I might lose my marriage because of an issue that is not even my fault. Please advise.
.

How much did you get from the proceed of the house that was soldhuh

Trust me, i wished i was trolling but i'm not.

Really i have never brought my marital issues to nairaland and frankly, this has got to be the first and last time i will. This is just the second time we'll be hosting them and the last time they came, they complimented her cooking skills. Not to forget, i did the pounding of yams for over 20 persons the last time, so she only made the soup. I don't know why people will term cooking of soup a housemaid thing. I'm just peturbed over how many reason here.
.

Get snacks and drinks ... Safest option for now... Time is short. Or is it a must the meeting menu must be swallowhuh

Theyoungmatron:
This is way above her duty as a wife except she is a caterer. Something of this magnitude cannot be done easily and it is like asking for more and she has the right to refuse. Cooking, serving, washing and cleaning after 25 men is not a small feat, it is a fulltime job for some people. I know you do not have a househelp, just her and the kids with the running of the home. That's how african men allow their wives to age before their time.
. Hire a caterer and let your wife do the serving.
Utilize a caterer or do the cooking by yourself.
.

You didn't include going to the market to buy the ingredients and drinks

Does she have someone she listens to? Maybe a mother or something?
.

I don't understandhuh The woman should kill herself on top food preparation. The caterer option is best for now.

So he should call his mother in law to inform her of how his wife refuse to cook for 25 people abi wetin

Op, don't listen to all those saying you should kick her out.. Hmmmm if you visit them , you will see how their legally married wife starve them with sex and how their legally married husband beat them blue black and they are yet to kick themselves out.

Instead, device a savings plan and encourage her to look for a job

UjuJoan2:
It's impressive to see a guy who still wants to take responsibility of his child, even though he's not married to the mother. It gives me hope that not all men are scum.

Now to the issue at hand. I always emphasize on the importance of money in a relationship. No woman wants to suffer or cook with 700 naira. It's not a happy place to be. But then your baby's mother is a greedy, wicked and irresponsible woman. She should happily cook with 700niara since she's not even your wife. She got pregnant for you and your responsibility is to your child, not to her too.

My advice, kick her out. Make sure you cater for your child and remain in her life. Buy the things she needs (the ones you can afford) monthly, and send to them. If she doesn't like it that way let her leave the child with you and go.

DO NOT MARRY THAT WOMAN! She will kill you before your time.
.

Kick her out and come and marry you righthuh

Built2last:
Married folks,
What was that thing you later realised you wasted your money on during your wedding ceremony?

For me was Wedding IV. Spent money printing quality IV. I should have just used WhatsApp, Facebook and SMS and people would still have come. My mums friends and associates was enough crowd.

I travelled with my woman to UK to shop for wedding gown, shoe and wrist watch. Spent £2,200 on gown. £800 wristwatch I cant remember the price of the shoe now. That's for madam alone.

Madam now forced me to buy wedding suits for me and my best man.

Looking back, I would have built a bungalow with this stupid expense. Even my madam now regrets spending such money on wedding gown that she wore for 2 hours and that was it. The gown is wasting somewhere now.

I now I wasted money unnecessary. My only joy is the good wife I married.

Share the mistakes you made in expense planning wedding
.

cheesy. Whao.. You are such a rich guy

Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl eg
sugar
Flour
NutMeg (optional)
Mixed fruits ( choice)
Baking powder
Baking soda
And mix very well.

Melt butter and add to dry ingredients
Add the eggs
Add liquid milk
Add hot boiling water ( not in her mix but I use it in my recipe for this method)
Add liquid flavor
Stir to mix very well.

Then grease your pan and pour batter into it and bake.

Very easy.
.

Thank you so much dear kiss kiss

FoodRe: Cook In Your Kitchen, Take Pictures And Post It Here. SIMPLE! by tabithababy(f): 1:02pm On Aug 24, 2020
Brachaa:
She already said she melted the butter and combined the dry ingredients which includes sugar. So there won't be any need for creaming sugar and butter again. Thats the easy way to go especially if you have epileptic power supply in your area where power can go out on you when creaming with electric mixer.

I use her method for my chocolate mud cakes.

You only cream butter and sugar if you want cake to come out light and fluffy. But with this method, you'll get a dense and weighty cake.
.

Brachaa, please can you explain her method again... I want to try the method but I don't understand the method. Thanks kiss
