I got into uni about the same age as you. My parents and my older siblings all insisted I stay in hostel, at least for my first year, so I can socialize and mix up.
I never really enjoyed it, because I'm naturally not a crowd loving person. But at not point did I feel like I was hated though.
Please if you feel hated, not welcomed, Pls you need to drum it into your parents ears about getting out.

They might have good intentions for you by putting you in hostel especially in making you read and concentrate(that one worked for me though) but if it's not working out, you need to leave
