Career / Re: 4.58million Nigerians Became Jobless In Buhari's Administation - NBS Report by tafrica(m): 1:23pm On Aug 31, 2016
While prices of goods are increasing in the market, people are losing their jobs, some are not even being paid salaries. Purchasing powers of people are greatly being reduced. Very soon, Nigerians will take to the street and revolt. After this report, many people will still lose their jobs which make the figures increasing daily.

As usual, our patriotic defenders will always say "If election is held today, I will vote Buhari again"

Are some people perpetually wired to support this govt even when they are suffering?

Really? Do you watch last year PF from start to End.? None of them this year can be compare to last year contestant. None of them have Anderson voice, None of them have Dehinde Energy, None of them can sing like Jeff, Even Chike that was evicted none of them can sing like him. I haven't see only this year that can make me happy like Anderson.

Actually reverse is the case. I followed last year PF than I do this year. Maybe Dehinde and Chike made me follow the show passionately. Perhaps I judged quickly. I agree none of them had Anderson's voice and Dehinde who seemed to be this year's Yusuph among the guys is far far ahead of Yusuph.

Sports / I Won’t Represent Nigeria Again – Usman by tafrica(m): 10:25am On Aug 18, 2016
Even before she left the shores of Nigeria for Brazil, Mariam Usman knew that winning a medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics would be a tough call. She would not pretend to be a magician nor claim perfection where there is none. Usman believes one can only reap where one sows.

The Commonwealth medalist in the +75kg in weightlifting says she has lost the urge to represent Nigeria at international events. Mariam was the only weightlifter that represented Nigeria here in Rio. She competed in the +75 category and amassed 265 kg. She finished 8th in her group.

“It is painful to come to the Olympics and see people who are your contemporaries perform better than you; not because you lack the ability but because you were not prepared like them,” she said, while speaking to reporters at the Games Village, here in Rio. “For me, it is not just about jumping unto the plane every four years to go to the Olympics. Every athlete you see here wants to step on the podium. If you can’t aim to climb up there, you have no business coming to the Olympics. I can only consider going to another Olympics if things change for the better. But if the status quo is maintained, I don’t think I will go to another Olympics again.”

She said training for the Rio Olympics was non-existent while her counterparts from other countries who are competing here in Brazil have been training for three to four years. “Olympic gold medal doesn’t come cheap. It is painful that one has to suffer and when competition comes they expect you to win a medal with your blood. “The people you have to compete with had everything they needed: training grants, competitions and are exposed to the most modern equipment. I had nothing. You don’t expect such people who have invested so much to lose to one who don’t even train adequately.” The African champion said before the 2012 Olympics, she had better training than she did under the current dispensation. “Yes, I feel 2012 was better. I had better training and my result was better. This time nothing was done to better one’s performance.”

Now, I can see you have problem with basic comprehension. Read my posts on this thread again and point where I'm hating on SW.

How does advocating for SWDC mean hating on SW? Doesn't SW deserve SWDC for oil exploration on its land just as Niger Delta has NNDC? Are you more south western than I am or anyone here? Learn to engage people that know more than you in arguement in rational ways, you learn from their feet.
Don't be a pompous ignoramus.

I see your point. They might eventually consider it though i believe if the companies involved are made to follow the rules strictly and act responsibly, there might not be a need for the FG to do that.

Apart from NDDC, Delta state govt set up DESOPADEC. Lagos state govt could set up something similar with the 13%

Yes, Lagos Govt will have to come up with some regulatory bodies, but I still think as long as FG funds NNDC (I don't know how much), Lagos should ask for its, may be the fund accrued to Lagos or NNDC will be decided based on volume of oil produced, but in essence, Lagos/SW deserves SWDC once oil exploration fully starts, just Niger Delta has NNDC

Note: Don't see me as a bigot, I'm just an advocate of equality and fair treatment to all.

why do we need south west development commission when we are the most developed region in Nigeria, those commission are meant for less develop region to develop. So get that straight to your skull

Next time, learn to communicate without insults. "Get that into your skull", you could have done better.
And to your post, I don't want to go into the arguement if SW is most developed region or not, but irrespective of the development, oil exploration comes with its environmental degrading potentials, host communities will be affected. Also, oil refining which will commence very soon in the same Lagos comes with its own hazards.
Several commission/agencies have to be given birth that will ensure SW/Lagos or the host communities, as the case may be, enjoy infra structural developments that accrue to them.

The NNDC was incorporated in 1949 by the Northern regional govt just like the Western region set up the Oodua Investment gruop.

http://www.nndcgroup.com.ng/content/about-nndc

They are a company set up to do any business for profit including oil production IF POSSIBLE, not a FG agency.

DON'T COMPARE IT TO NDDC

Thanks for the enlightenment.
South West still needs SWDC now that oil exploration will commence in Lagos soon and let's not forget same Lagos is hosting two refineries, as much as I know, (Dangote and Integrated O&G owned by Capt Iheneacho).
Lagos and Southwest needs to start thinking about its SWDC and bodies to see to inherent environmental degradation with oil exploration and refining.

We were voting a Tyrant, Despot, but we they said he was a strong man.

This govt keeps throwing all decorum to the wind. Why declaring someone wanted without first inviting for investigation? Wanted is different from invitation for interrogation.

Salkida never hid base, we know he's in UAE, the other 2 are in Nigeria and known, why then coming to the media to declare them wanted when they are within your reach?

And to imagine a 'wanted' man turned himself up to be arrested by the military, only to be left unattended to and asked to come back.
Who asks a 'wanted' man to come back after he produces himself?

This govt keeps making noise in the media.
1 corruption fight - media fight
2 Security (BH, Militants, Herdsmen etc) - Media fight
3. Job creation, even much taunted masquerade job - Media creation.
4 Light - Media.

When will this govt realise it's time to leave media and be realistic?

Your reasoning is pathetic and people like you that grease the ego of greedy politicians. So politicians are patriotic when they renege on their promises thereby failing to pay players' allowances? Let's praise the greedy politicians/administrators that fail to pay players' allowances because they're almighty and crucify players who downtool for not being paid.

Politics / Re: Flashback: Buhari Vows To Deal With Budget Padders by tafrica(m): 2:31pm On Aug 06, 2016
The anti-corruption slogan has gone to the Dogs.
EFCC is docile once Buhari's allies are practically involved in corruption scandal but acts when other camp is involved. From Dambazzau to Buratai, to Dogara, to Amaechi, Fayemi, Fashola and the rest. These are people against whom either petitions have been written to EFCC or very strong undeniable allegations have been levied, but Baba has never acted.

Is corruption, being the major talking point of this admin, worth it at the expense of economy sliding into recession, when the corruption isn't even being fought with utmost sincerity?

The convictions this govt may succeed to make after all the anti-corruption drama may not be different from what the past govt has also recorded because some cases will die natural deaths as soon as Baba or his anointed is involved.

A pity that there is corruption in anti-corruption.
Politics / Flashback: Buhari Vows To Deal With Budget Padders by tafrica(m): 1:44pm On Aug 06, 2016
President says no going back on anti-graft campain.
THOSE who connived to inflate the 2016 budget figures may now have an angry President Muhammadu Buhari to contend with. He vowed late Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia that they would not escape punishment.

Addressing the Nigerian community in Saudi Arabia, Buhari said: “The culprits will not go unpunished. I have been a military governor, petroleum minister, military Head of State and headed the Petroleum Trust Fund. Never had I heard the words “budget padding.”

Our Minister of Budget and National Planning did a great job with his team. The minister became almost half his size during the time, working night and day to get the budget ready, only for some people to pad it.

“What he gave us was not what was finally being debated. It is very embarrassing and disappointing. We will not allow those who did it to go unpunished,” he said.

Buhari’s position in Saudi Arabia contradicted what the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, told journalists last week in Lagos.

Mohammed had said: “The total for every ministry has remained exactly the same as what was submitted to the National Assembly. A lot has been said about the budget. Let me make it clear that nobody can ever accuse this government of padding any budget.

“The total of all ministries put together has not exceeded N6.08 trillion that was submitted. It is factually incorrect to say that the budget was padded.

“This is the first time in the history of this country that a government will embark on what is called zero-based budget.“Before now, the budget system was what was called an envelope system. In an envelope system, there is no justification as to why we need N30 billion for a structure.’’

“This year, we decide that every ministry must have a zero-based budget. In other word, you must justify and explain why you need N100 billion.”

The president said that the unauthorised alterations had completely changed the document from the one he presented to the National Assembly.

The president also assured members of the Nigerian community that his administration was working diligently to fulfill its campaign promises, particularly on security, unemployment, and corruption.

Reaffirming his government’s zero tolerance for corruption, Buhari said that the war against corruption was a monumental task that he was determined to tackle successfully.

“We have zero tolerance for corruption and other unethical practices. We will deal decisively with anybody found wanting,” he promised members of the Nigerian community.

Also late Tuesday in Riyadh, the president said that his administration was fully committed to increasing the productivity of Nigeria’s agriculture and solid minerals sectors to save the nation from the harsh effects of lower crude oil prices.

He invited Saudi Arabian businessmen to invest in both sectors, noting that his administration would welcome greater foreign investment in support of its efforts to rapidly diversify the Nigerian economy.

Buhari said that Nigeria had regrettably depended too much on crude oil exports to the neglect of other resources and was now paying a harsh price for failing to diversify its economy early enough.

“With the downturn in the global prices of oil, we now have to prospect our solid minerals. We have to return to agriculture. Mining and agriculture are our hopes now. We will welcome investments in these areas. We will appreciate an in-flow of more resources and expertise to help us achieve our objective of economic diversification,” the president said.

The Chairman of the Council of the Saudi Arabian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dr Abdulrahman Al Zamil said agriculture was a very important area of investment for its members, adding that they were already in Brazil, the United States of America and Sudan, “where we have huge farms.”

http://m.guardian.ng/news/buhari-vows-to-punish-budget-padding-culprits/

After revelations that several bogus items were 'padded' into the budget by NASS just to inflate it; the act for which Dogara, Jubrin and other principal officers are found responsible, there came pictures of Dogara and Buhari and also reported meeting between the duo just to bury the whole padding saga.
Recall also that APC also had meeting with Dogara and Jubrin and requested that they shouldn't divulge any further info to the public as far as the budget padding is concerned.

Can we say APC is truly fighting corruption?
Is President Buhari a man of his words? Having seen him eating his words several times. Now, Mr. President is about to renege on another promise to deal with budget padders, even after Dogara has publicly admitted he padded the budget, yet Mr. President and APC are sweating profusely to cover this budget padding which has made the whole budget marred with controversies, bogus item lines and corruption.
Let me refresh your memories that Dogara removed Jubrin as appropriation chairamn because of budget padding. Now after the speaker has been cornered with several evidences and allegations by Jubrin and seems he can't provide any escape route or reasonable explanations against them, Dogara has resorted running towards his safe haven in Buhari and also arrogantly coming out to tell us padding isn't a crime after he had before now sacked Jubrin for the same offence.

Each time I see pictures of Jubrin in this brouhaha, I see a man who isn't afraid and enjoys spitting everything out.
Why do Dogara and Jubrin appear so arrogant and confident in the face 'New Sheriff' Mr. President's anti-corruption war? Has Buhari's anti-corruption lost its flavour?

Does Buhari really hate corruption or it's just a fiction created by the media? The recent corruption allegations against some Buhari's cabinets members and Baba's silence or attempt to wash them off the allegations with 'progressive water' suggest the later.

Lalasticlala, please help us put this across to Mr. President as a reminder on his vow.

Thanks and God bless everyone to bless Nigeria.
