Seems Funke is enjoying her marriage, I'm happy for her. May God make it last for as long as they both remain alive.

LOL, the question I always ask people is that "was there no promiscuos woman in the times past when female circumcision was prevalent?"
Should we also recommend blinding of eyes for male so that they don's lust after women, since they won't be able to see?

Is this a deliberate attempt by Bokoharam to discredit Shetima's claim that Maiduguri was safer than Lagos?
I laughed when I read that news. We love to play politics and 'tribalize' sensitive issues in Nigeria.
How did Shetima come to that conclusion? Was it a statement to attack South West or what?

BTW, is this the actualisation of the new BH leader's threat to attack only Christians and churches?
May God save us all.

OP, you may have aroused her action if she has never spoken with your dad on phone. Let her speak with ur mum/dad on phone once a while, with that, she will feel homely and secured.

Don't listen to people tagging her as gold digger, you know her better than anyone here, she may not necessarily be a gold digger but just feels she might lose you. Just tame her and correct her appropriately.
Romance / Re: Help My Gf Just Broke Up With Me Just Bcz Of.. by tafrica(m): 10:58am On Sep 19, 2016
From the tone of that text, I can say your parents must be relatively OK and you must probably be financially/socially ahead of your GF. She's feeling inferior and thus insecured. She feels she's not your type enough, and may be why you're hiding her. What she's doing is just a game of blackmail, blackmailing you that you're hiding her and you're a puppet so that you'll be forced to take her home.

Don't give in to blackmail. If possible, don't reply her. When she later confronts you, be frank with her and scold her appropriately (please don't overdo or insult her). She needs to be patient and take things easy.

BTW, I hope you're serious with her by taking her home to see ur mum? Please don't toy with women's hearts.

Good luck

For those trivialising plagiarism, Hungarian President, Schmitt, resigned in 2012 for plagiarising his PhD.

Buhari could borrow one or two lines from Obama's speech, but not without acknowledging him in the speech, failure to do that makes it plagiarism and shameful that all we could do was to drive honesty (#ChangeBeginsWithMe) with dishonesty.
Let's recall that #ChangeBeginsWithMe project was stolen by Lai as reported last week, now they stole the speech.

All I know is that these people are not sincere and serious with this mantra, all they seek is PR stunt with CHANGE rhetoric.

BBC is carrying the news, the shame has gone international.

First, they stole #ChangeBeginsWithMe project, now they plagiarised its speech.
One reason is responsible for this, there is no sincerity behind #ChangeBeginsWithMe but just a PR stunt.

If #ChangeBeginsWithMe is a genuine project, why should we build it on dishonesty?

Now the shame has gone international. How could we have thought such speech wouldn't likely be heard outside the shores of Nigeria?

Politics / Nigerians Vent Frustrations Against President Buhari - CNN by tafrica(m): 2:57pm On Sep 14, 2016
Lagos (CNN)
It was supposed to be a rallying cry for unity in a nation deep in recession crisis.
However the launch of President Buhari's 'Change Begins With Me' campaign quickly went south as Nigerians took to Twitter to vent their frustrations against his government.

During a national address on Thursday, the president said: "The campaign principle is simple, each of us must live the change we want to see in our society."

He added: "Before you ask, 'where is the change they promised us,' you must first ask, 'how far have I changed my ways."

Angry Nigerians poured scorn on the initiative. Some felt the sentiment was tone deaf and failed to address the myriad problems Nigerians face on a daily basis. Top of that list is an economy in free fall and mass youth unemployment.

Last month, Nigeria's second quarter GDP fell by more than two percent compared to last year, after slipping by 0.4% in the first quarter. Two consecutive quarters of decline mean Nigeria has now slid into recession.

While he has been tough on corruption, Nigerians feel his authoritarian approach is out of touch when he needs to inspire hope for better times.

Many used the #ChangeBeginsWithMe hash tag to let the president know he has failed in his earlier promise to deliver change.

Buhari also recently launched a "War Against Indiscipline" -- one of his flagship schemes when he was first in power more than 30 years ago.

Investment / MMM Zimbabwe Froze Withdrawals, Old Members Lost 80% Of Funds by tafrica(m): 8:50pm On Sep 13, 2016
Could this be the predicted end of MMM?
Less than three weeks after Zimbabwe’s National Reserve bank warned citizens to stay away from MMM, the scheme might be showing signs of imminent collapse. MMM Zimbabwe had in some few weeks ago stopped all withdrawals and allowed deposits.
As reported by BehindMLM. In an effort to stave off an inevitable collapse, MMM Global’s Zimbabwe chapter froze investor withdrawals. Deposits were still permitted, with the intention being to collect money without withdrawals draining the system and unfreeze existing accounts on September 15th.
That plan has now been cancelled, with MMM Global Zimbabwe prematurely unfreezing investor withdrawals.
But unknowing to MMM members, the scheme is ripping them off. Here is the catch as reported by BehindMLM:
While affiliates deposit real funds into MMM Global, the company itself pays out Ponzi points called “Mavros”. Mavros must be exchanged for real money, subject to availability of new investment deposits being made.
MMM Eastern Africa, who run the MMM Global Zimbabwean chapter, have reduced the Mavro exchange rate from 1 Mavro to $1 to 5 Mavros to $1.
This is effectively an 80% reduction in the dollar value of existing invested funds and the Ponzi ROI attached to them.
For example, whereas previously an MMM Eastern Africa affiliate who invested $1 was promised $2 within 30 days, now they’ll receive just 20 cents.
Affiliates who had been hoarding Mavros in their back office will now only be able to claim 20% of what they were previously able to request in withdrawals.
This change has likely been implemented due to a lack of new withdrawals, leaving MMM Eastern Africa unable to meet it’s 100% ROI obligations come September 15th.
By reducing withdrawal rates by 80%, it now takes longer for an affiliate to “break even”. But after five months the problem of paying affiliates more than has been invested, known as a “Ponzi liability”, persists.
This will inevitably still bring about a collapse. MMM Eastern Africa have just put it off a bit. That’s of course assuming affiliates don’t riot, stop promoting the scheme altogether and demand their money back.
MMM members in Zimbabwe have already started counting their losses. Mr Tinashe Muza of Harare told iharare.co.zw that “All along things were moving in the right direction and we now have nowhere to claim our investments.”
“When we started putting our funds in the scheme one could get assistance within seven days but things later changed to 14 days and when we were shut out the waiting period was 21 days. What it simply means is that the number of people in need of help has outnumbered the number of people joining. Right now we have nowhere to get our money which we invested.”
Another victim, Mrs Rosemary Mawonde said: “We never thought the scheme would end this way as we believed that by using EcoCash to do the transactions, things were in order. I am surprised that EcoCash is also distancing itself from the scheme and it is clear that I will never recover the USD300 that I invested.”
EcoCash, the mobile money operator that allowed its service to be used by MMM members for their transactions has distanced itself from the matter saying:
“We advise our valued customers and all stakeholders that Ecocash is a licensed mobile payment platform that enables customers to make financial transactions such as sending money, buying prepaid airtime as well as paying for goods and services within the confines of the law of Zimbabwe. EcoCash promotes safe and legal transactions but will not be held liable for any losses arising from the use of EcoCash to engage in illegal activities such as Ponzi schemes.”
Last week, Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission SEC had warned all Nigerians to stay away from MMM. According to estimates, there over 509,021 Nigerians who are members of the Ponzi Scheme as at the time of writing this report.
No one knows when the scheme will start collapsing just like MMM Zimbabwe. However, in May, MMM South Africa had collapse with countless citizens losing millions in invested funds.

Jobs/Vacancies / The Real Truth About The Aso Villa Demo Day - A Finalist by tafrica(m): 9:54am On Sep 08, 2016
Could Aso Villa Demo Day be a PR stunt or what?
I am one of the 30 finalists of the just concluded Aso Villa Demo Day and would love to share to the media our own view of how things truly paned out. First of all, it will be courteous to thank the organizers of the Aso Villa Demo Day. But truly, we ask, was it all worth it? Lots of cut back on promises and a focus on PR & photo ops at the expense of we, the young entrepreneurs. I am speaking out because most of us have businesses already at their growth phase. We left all behind hoping for more but it just didn’t seem to be worth it.

The Beginning

It all started when a friend buzzed me that my name was published on Twitter by the official twitter handle of the Aso Villa Demo Day. I was excited but I asked this: Why weren’t we previously informed about this? We had come to learn of this only online? Why? The announcement read that 30 start-ups would pitch to Mr. President. I got confused a bit because the initial announcement was that 50 startups will be selected. Oh well, I said, “they know best”!

It took a week before we were officially contacted. And this was done on Twitter. We were told off a Twitter chat, which actually went well. The date of the event was fixed too and we the contestants were once again left in the dark. It was then becoming clear that this was probably about the PR for the organizers of this event.

We got a mail with the entire itinerary saying the event will be on the 2nd of September 2016 and we should be in ABUJA on the 30th as there will be a 2 day boot camp before the event. Again… some days of dead silence went by till a day before then when we all got calls telling us not to book our flight tickets that it will be done by the organizers. I however learnt that some participants came from areas around Abuja by road. No incentive was given to those at all.

We arrived Abuja and were lodged in Hilton hotel based on the good relationship the FIRS has with the hotel. The first day of the boot camp started off well until some strange things began to unfold. We were informed that of the already successful 30 startups, only three will be given prizes and will pitch to Mr. President. What? Was this a competition? Why wasn’t this said from the beginning? This completely contradicted the public view of the event. I felt sore. We all assumed all 30 of us will pitch to the President after which the best startups will be selected.

We were told that the actual finale was on the 1st of September as an in-house event to select the “top” three. The 2nd of September was just a PR event for the public. The next day came and a panel (not the President) was set up with judges who selected the three winners based on their own criteria which no one knew about. The painful part was we were still told all was fine. Complaints arose but we kept our cool.

On the so-called finale [2nd of September 2016], we went to Aso rock to “supposedly” pitch to Mr. President. We waited in a hall for hours. The three were then brought out specially to see Mr. President. When the three startups saw Mr. President it appeared that was the first time he was hearing of the Aso Villa Demo Day. After their 10-second pitch to him, they went ahead to take pictures with him. He then took pictures with the remaining 27 startups and shook hands with them.

Mark ZuckerBerg

We were all moved to the banquet hall in Aso Villa for the “main” event. We were briefed that we would have a picture with the VP and the VP will go round the 30 startups. On the VP’s arrival, a little ray of hope came when we saw Mark Zukerberg with him. We all screamed in excitement and we took pictures with him shortly after.

Only three startups were allowed to see Mark. Two of them were finalists from the event, the third one didn’t even participate in the competition. None of the other participants were allowed to meet with Mark.

The Final Straw

Then they announced that the three selected startup would each go home with N3 million. This was a donation by Airtel and not the FG. None of the startups received a cash prize directly from the FG as was contained in the press. Perhaps the FG was in partnership with Airtel to provide the prize, this was not what we were told. (1)

What then happens to the remaining 27 startups that left all behind, customers, and goods just to be here? Many of us came here to help our business grow. To seek a partnership with stakeholders and meet with potential investors. So what next? What is in it at least for those who came by road? How do they go back? Personally I believe the least the organizers can do now is to at least send our pitch videos to investors they claimed we will meet and connect us with other opportunities to grow our business. This will be good compensation for all of us that participated.

Politics / Jonathan’s N700m Almajiri Schools Too Expensive To Run – Adamawa Govt by tafrica(m): 8:05am On Sep 08, 2016
This is coming from a govt that spent 200 million on prayer warriors and vigilantes. No value for education; the more uneducated they are, the easier to control and lord over them.
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/188384-boko-haram-adamawa-to-spend-n200-million-on-prayer-warriors-vigilante.html

The Adamawa State Government has said the multi-million Almajiri schools established by former President Goodluck Jonathan have yet to become operational because they are too expensive to run.

This was made known in Yola, the state capital, by the Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Education Board, Dr. Mohammed Toungo, while appraising the success of the educational initiative of the American University of Nigeria, targeting almajiri children between the ages of six and 17 years.

Corroborating Toungo, the Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Education, Alhaji Mahmud Abubakar, also explained that the state government was finding it difficult to put the almajiri schools into use because of financial constraints.
Toungo spoke at an event organised by the Technology Enhanced Learning for All project to commemorate the World Literacy Day on Wednesday.

The USAID-funded initiative, which utilizes radio and information technology to reach vulnerable children, has helped improved the literacy and numeracy skills of over 22,000 almajiri.

Toungo who was represented by the ADSUBEB’s Director of Quality Assurance, Saidu Komsari, said the board was ready to key into the TELA project run by the American University in Yola.

He added that the AUN had played a complimentary role of solving a fraction of the problem because there were over half a million out of school children in the state which the seven model integrated islamiya schools established by the Federal Government since 2012 had yet to redress.

He said, “We appreciate the AUN for taking up the almajiri problem. But as it is right now, we have over half a million of these children roaming the streets. If you take 22,000 out of it; how many per cent is it?”

According to him, the state is bothered by the number of out-of-school children and the non-operation of the school as a result of funding gaps and the government’s inability to recruit the personnel needed for its take-off because such schools required specialised teachers.

He noted that the government spent not less than N100 million in constructing each of the seven schools with a combined enrolment for only 420 almajiri but which also had been lying fallow since its establishment in 2012.

“But since 2012 up till now they have not commenced because the recruitment of the specialised teachers to the schools had not been done because of the expensive nature of the teachers.

“The feeding of the almajiri is also a big problem. I think the enrollment we intended was only 420 and the American University educated 22,000 in one year. It was expensive, capital intensive and the beneficiaries were very few. So they (schools) are there lying waste.

“We have asked the USAID to give us money so that we can start the schools but they refused us except we come with a performance indicator”

The Federal Government had under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan in its determination to modernise the almajiri system of Islamic education built and commissioned some model schools across the North, some of which were also built in Adamawa State.

The Federal Government at the time devoted N15bn to realise its objective of integrating over 10 million almajiris into the formal educational school system.
