Haba, I don't encourage jungle justice. Infact I hate beating kids let alone kill people, but you can't deny my arguement; you can't catch a thief wanting to steal 7 iphones in a place like computer village and be given fair beating like this or even allowed to sit on the chair. This is a reality in our country. This guy is a probably a known figure (Seun Egbengbe as claimed), that is why he hasn't received more gruesome treatment.

I think it's Seun Egbegbe. If the thief was just a common thief, he would have been stripped naked, beaten to almost death or even set on fire. You can't treat a thief that stole 7 iphones like this in Computer Village (letting him sit on the chair, with clothes on him). This thief was given lil or fair beating probably because he is a known figure.

this is clearly a fiction, i had to comment because of some comments i read above applauding the police man. If such situation happens and the police wants to ascertain the true maternity of the baby, the best he can do is to ask any woman around to help check. Which audacity does a police man have to ask a woman to bring out her breast because he wants to ascertain if the baby is truly hers? There are police women to do that or simply ask any woman around

It seems media can no longer hide these incessant attacks of BHTs. Everyday, we used to see the pictures of 'another fallen hero' on Nairaland without any report of BH attack, I used to ask myself those times, how did these soldiers end up being killed without any BH attack?

BH war was previously won on media, but the reality is setting in now and may God save us.

Politics / Re: APC Invites Dr Orji Uzor Kalu To Its National Working Committe Meeting (PICS) by tafrica(m): 6:49pm On Nov 16, 2016
duni04:

Firstly, it was only last week that the members of the Ekiti state house of assembly submitted their petition against Fayemi to the EFCC.
I can't remember anybody publicly submitting any petition against Fashola, except you did? If you did please follow up with the EFCC. If you didn't and you don't know anyone who did, please shut up. All I see is beer parlor gist about a N70 million borehole.
Wike's petition against Ameachi is nothing but bollocks. I jqve read the white paper of the panel Wike set up to probe Amaechi. Baseless! No merit! The EFCC shouldn't even bother with it. We both know who the criminal and bribe giver is between Amaechi and Wike. The Nigerian Army and the CCB came out to publicly acknowledge that Buratai declared his Dubai mansion. Buratai is not even an APC member.
Who the hell is sylva in the scheme of things. Buhari will ask the EFCC to mellow on sylva and then hit Saraki? Sylva's case was thrown out because the EFCC wanted to withdraw the charges and then amend and file in another court. The judge thought it was reckless and threw the entire case out. That's what happened!

https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/amp.pulse.ng/local/timipre-sylva-court-throws-out-fraud-charges-against-ex-gov-says-efcc-is-desperate-and-bias-id4397921.html?client=ms-android-tecno

All this "saved by the broom" nonsense that people keep peddling holds no water under Buhari. Buhari will not ask the EFCC to stand down from probing anyone. Osinbanjo will not. Magu himself will not. Who then will?

You must be hallucinating to say petition was just written against Fayemi. You called an allegation raised against Fashola by Ambode himself a beer parlour gist. Did Fashola deny it during screening? the only defence he could put up was to say he didn't sign any cheque.
If you think when Buratai was accused of corruption with glaring evidences, state institution like Nigerian Army should be the one answering for him, then you must reboot your brain or better still set to default setting and clean yourself of this zoobiesm

Besides, why are you pained at seeing my post that fight against corruption is biased?

duni04:

Ask Joshua Dariye if the EFCC mellowed on his corruption case after he defected to the APC. Or ask Muiz Banire if the EFCC asked for his APC membership card before interrogating him for bribing judges. Then you can also ask Bukola Sariki if Justice Umar of the CCT asked for his political party before slamming him in the dock for false declaration of assets. While youre at it, ask bowale Adeniyi, the wife of Justice Ademola Adeniyi and the head of service of Lagos and a close ally of Tinubu, if the Ministry of Justice asked for her APC membership card before filing corruptiin charges against her.
Who the hell is Kalu to think that APC membership automatically absolves him of his past misdeeds? He must be clowning around.

You can equally ask why Timpre sylva died a natural death after Buhari was sworn in. While at it, ask why EFCC/Buhari turned blind eyes to several petitions written against Fayemi, Fashola, Amaechi and the likes.
Also, why has EFCC or Buhari failed to take action regarding Buratai's Dubai mansion revelation? All we got after that was Defence HeadQuarters releasing statement to defend Buratai like they were his lawyers, later we were told it was his savings from snake business.

No matter how you spin it, it is known to every sane mind our war on corruption is only a biased one to tame and oppress opposition.

No party has ever been divided amidst its members than APC.
No party has divided Nigerians along religious and tribal lines more than APC.

APC, through its lust for power, has subjected Nigeria to perpetual crisis, both national and intra-party, which has put Nigeria in a state of anarchy and directionless governance.

That comment from patriotic9jaboy was an insult to common sense. I am not a fan of Reno, infact he blocked me on twitter, but why should a 'normal' human being be angry that Reno is criticizing the govt and then recommend EFCC be used on any govt critics?

What does patriotic9jaboy stand to gain if Buhari becomes 'unquestionable god' that does whatever he wishes without any opposition?

Don't sell you right for crumbs, even if you do, not everyone will sell his right for any thing.

Reno may be lousy atimes, he has the right to criticize the govt without being intimidated with EFCC, DSS etc, just as every other Nigerians.

Part of what the bill pans to achieve.
To convert all our personal FX to Naira.
To Jail anyone who holds FX.

Summarily, possession of FX is now a crime.

Policy somersault; the same Govt that preaches boosting of FX through agriculture and exportation is also now looking to stop exportation to curb famine.

How will investors come into Nigeria when they know after sweating out to earn FX, our govt can unilaterally convert it to Naira? But same investors will not be given FX if needed.

lalasticlala or anyone should please move to the appropriate section if not fit for this section.

The Central Bank of Nigeria is proposing a string of new amendments to the Foreign Exchange, Monitoring and Miscellaneous Exchange Act (FEMM). The act signed to law in 2014 basically liberalized the foreign exchange market in Nigeria allowing for foreign investors to import money into the country and repatriate same freely.

This is currently the act that governs the foreign exchange market in Nigeria. Despite this, the CBN believes it is mostly flawed particularly in the current economic situation and seeks to amend a large portion of the act.

The CBN made its position known in a “working paper” shared to members of the CIBN and can also be found in the website of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.

However, critics of the proposed amendments point Nairametrics to portions of the CBN’s proposed amendments tantamount to foreign currency controls and abrogating super powers to an “already powerful CBN”. Here are examples of some of the proposed amendments;

The CBN says the act allows for “foreign currency purchased from the market to be repatriated without restrictions” and thus will like this amended. .
The CBN also believes the act “prohibits the seizure, forfeiture or expropriation of imported money by the government without providing exceptions. As such, the CBN wants to have powers to seize any foreign currency”.
The CBN is also unhappy that the law “allows foreign currency in excess of five thousand dollars imported or exported subject to declaration of statistics reason only.”
The CBN is also recommending that it be granted powers to restrict or prohibit the exportation of foreign currency when and where necessary to “protect the economy”.
The CBN also wants powers to “approve and where necessary restrict or prohibit repatriation of foreign currency to save the Nigerian economy”
The CBN also wants an amendment that allows it have the powers to “prevent monopoly and hoarding and a time limit for deposit of foreign currency in the bank”

While some aspects of the amendments are well intended, the above recommendations by the CBN does raise questions about the commitment of the CBN and indeed this government to allow for a market driven flexible exchange rate.

Politics / Why We Renewed Attacks On Oil Facilities – Niger Delta Avengers by tafrica(m): 4:15pm On Nov 14, 2016
The Niger Delta Avengers, which has restarted attacks on oil and gas installations in Nigeria’s volatile oil rich region, on Sunday claimed government’s lack of commitment to dialogue process was responsible for its renewed insurgency.

Since November 1 that President Muhammadu Buhari met with Niger Delta leaders at the State House in peace building efforts, the Avengers have attacked the Trans Forcados Export Pipeline in Delta State, the most recent spate of the group’s actions

But the Avengers said continued military action in the Niger Delta prompted the renewed attacks.

“Sincerely speaking, the High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers cannot be blamed for the continuous bombing of crude oil export pipelines and other oil installations, since the Government has been relentlessly carrying out military build ups to continuously harass communities and indigenes of the Niger Delta after the November 1st meeting of the PANDEF and President Muhammadu Buhari.

The militant group had in August expressed readiness for peace deal with President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, giving three conditions: multi-level involvement of relevant stakeholders, restructuring of Nigeria and cessation of military offensive.

Before that, the federal government had repeatedly asked the militants to embrace peace through dialogue even as it had to send troops to the Niger Delta to hunt down and counter balance militants in May.

But despite peace offers by both sides, Nigerian military continued to deploy troops and arms to the region, saying on September 6, it had to demonstrate capacity to protect civilians and facilities from “criminals and saboteurs”.

“We see this as a deliberate move by the military establishment to undermine any effort of dialogue and negotiations with the people of the Niger Delta,” said the militant group in the statement by its spokesperson, Mudoch Agbinibi.

NDA has carried out attacks on oil and gas installations, devastating Nigeria’s output and revenue.

The Avengers emerged months after former President Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid last year, promoting allegations the insurgents have the former leader’s backing.

Earlier on Sunday, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, condemned and expressed disappointment at the spate of the renewed attacks, including the October 25 one on the Chevron Excravos pipeline.

Mr. Kachikwu was the architect of the meeting between Mr. Buhari and the Niger Delta leaders, and has consistently sought dialogue, rather than military offensive, as means to peace in the oil rich region.

But in its Sunday’s statement, NDA alleged the Buhari administration was not sincere with dialogue, warning “the path to sustain the cessation of hostilities in the region among fighters and structures cannot be achieved overnight, when there are clear cases of deliberate security surge by the Nigerian government.”

Seeking understanding on the side of the community leaders who engagement with Mr. Buhari, the group said it was “only reacting to government’s deliberate attempts to undermine the process to dialogue and negotiations.”

It asked Mr. Buhari to restrain the military from “engaging in activities that are inimical to the process, the people and communities of the Niger Delta” to make any peace initiate effective.

“We believed that our fathers, leaders and royal fathers are ready to meet the government of Nigeria with representatives of IOCs and the neutral observers but not with guns, warships and jet fighters terrorizing their communities which of course is one of the sixteen points key demands presented to Mr. President, So the government should stop the ostrich game,” it added.

I dont condone violence, but this Shi'a folks are somehow crazy. If a more liberal state like Kaduna, can hunt down Shi'a folks and take them off the street with brutal force. How on earth would you try this nonsense in an overwhelming Conservative state like Kano. Get your facts straight, the vast majority of Nigerian Muslims are Sunni (More than 90℅), and it not a hidden fact that the Sunni population hate the Shi'a ideology. For your safety stop exposing your members to hardship. Confine yourselves to your dominated areas. Trying to preach about Shi'a ideology on the street is Not safe.

Agreed 90% of muslims are sunnis, that doesn't warrant govt clamping down on minorities like shiites using state institutions like police, army. Everyone is free to practise his/her own choice of religion. Hurting or killing minority (Shiites) because you're in majority (Sunnis) doesn't make it right.

Next time, don't condemn shiites who choose to practice their religion differently and being hunted for that, but the president who kills his subject because they practise religion different from his.

Foreign Affairs / Trump Redefines "Success Is The Best Revenge" After Obama Tears Him Apart by tafrica(m): 11:05pm On Nov 09, 2016
In 2011, during white house Gala, President Obama mocked Donald Trump over birth certificate conspiracy, Celebrity Apprentice & his presidential ambitions. People at the event laughed as Obama continued to mock Trump. In all this, Trump kept cool. After this event, he told his aides he would contest for POTUS in 2016 to make a bold statement to Obama. Trump, being a man that hates being told he can't do anything, as said by Eric Trump during Republican convention, made known his intention to run for POTUS. Even after this, Obama kept mocking him and his ambition.

Today, the same man has won the election, demystifying Obama and his continuation in Hilary Clinton candidature.
I don't know if Trump is a good candidate for USA or not, but he achieved his goal against all odds and turned Obama's mockery into inspiration.

Never mock a man who can go all out to achieve his goal.
