dare devil armed robbers at the weekend, unleashed terror on a bridal train at Mgbuishii, Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo State, killing the video camera man and badly wounded others, including the photographer in the process.

Vanguard gathered that the newly wed couple (names withheld) were in Chimezie Catholic Parish, Mgbuishii, for the solemnization of their wedding and were on their way back to Owerri for the reception, when masked men suddenly jumped out of the nearby bush and attacked the bridal train.

A villager, who spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, identified the dead video camera man as Mr. Isaac Ezirim, while the wounded photographer was Mr. Julius Ashigbu.

“The hoodlums first attacked the vehicle conveying the bride and groom. Although the bullets hit the video camera man and the photographer, the driver of the vehicle sped off”, the villager recounted.

It was also gathered that having missed their target, the masked hoodlums descended on all the vehicles coming behind the couple.

“The hoodlums robbed the friends and relations of the couple of cash and other personal valuables, including telephone handsets”, the villager said.

A close friend of the couple told Vanguard that the wedding, which was taken to the home of the groom, was eventful until the bridal train started moving to Owerri for the reception.

“This ugly incident took place at the outskirts of Mgbuishii, a sleepy rural community that is now getting notorious for all manner of serious crimes”, a female villager lamented.

It would be recalled that about a year ago, Vanguard exclusively reported how scores of women from this community, demonstrated at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, to not only complain about the lack of security in the area, but also how their children mindlessly raped them.

The fear-stricken women equally refused to go home after the protest until their host, Archbishop Anthony J. V. Obinna, arranged police escort that helped them home.

GENERAL Overseer of House of Redemption International, Archbishop Kalu O. Kalu has called on Nigerians to pray without ceasing for the nation and its leaders, assuring that an end will soon come to all forms of anti-social upheavals in different parts of the country.
Specifally, Archbishop Kalu also predicted an end to Boko Haram menace in the North Eastern part of the country, arguing that it was politically motivated and since that purpose has been achieved there will naturally be a truce.
Speaking in an interview at the end of his church’s 4-day convention in Surulere, Lagos the cleric who established the HORI in 2009 after several years with St. Joseph’s Chosen Church of God, said Nigeria is passing through a phase, at the end of which the citizens will rejoice.
Theme of the convention was: ‘My day, my time, my season of turnaround.’
According to him, the current insurgency in parts of the North was organised for a political purpose, but now that that purpose has been achieved the backers of the dream will back off soon.
“If the insurgency ended immediately after the elections everybody in the country would have been left with no alternative than to believe the rumours that have been flying around,” adding “but for its end, it will end very soon.”
The Abia State-born cleric believes that Nigeria, as a nation, had been established by divine arrangement, noting that every attempt by individuals or groups to tear or balkanise the nation will come nought.
“This nation’s unity is by divine arrangement. Every nation goes through a phase and Nigeria is not an exception. Britain, America and all the developed nations of the world had gone their different phases and today, America is the most powerful nation of the world. Life is in phases and Nigeria is going through its own,” he explained.
He therefore enjoined every Nigerian to hold on to God. He argued that a nation that holds on to God will naturally be lifted up, lamenting that despite the upsurge of worship places in the country, there is no righteousness in our governance.

Chinese woman was in for a real shock last weekend when she tried to get money out of an ATM.

The unsuspecting 23-year-old, known as Xiao Liu, had been entering her PIN code into a cash machine in Xi'an, north west China, when a sudden surge of electricity left her needing hospital treatment.
The electric shock sent 200 volts around the woman's body. Humans can only handle 36 volts safely.

The electricity passed from Liu's hand to her body, leaving her right arm numb and sore.
Liu was forced to the floor by the impact of the shock at the China Everbright Bank.
She soon realised that she was bleeding and that the fingernails on her right thumb and ring finger were broken.

After recovering for a few minutes, the frightened woman then made her way to a local hospital for treatment.
A doctor wrapped up the injuries and has reassured Liu that the fingernails would grow back on their own.
However, the incident, which happened on Sunday evening, had a lasting impact on Liu whose work requires her to make phone calls and record clients' information.
Her injured right arm stopped her from typing properly and Liu was forced to take sick leave.
Mr Liu, an official from the China Everbright Bank apologised for the accident and said that the bank would compensate the woman by paying for her medical treatment.
He added that the ATM machine had been installed for more than a year and used electricity from the eye wear store where it was placed.
The bank's other two machines, which are based outside the eye wear shop, were also tested.
However, it was found that they did not transmit electricity.
The cause of the malfunction in currently unknown and the cash point is undergoing investigation.
The ATM has since been closed.

July 25, a group of ‘devil worshippers’ unveiled an 8-foot-tall statue of the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet in Detroit, the USA.

According to CBS Local, the event which sold tickets for $25 was sold-out.

Reports say that the event took place at an undisclosed industrial building downtown Detroit, with an estimated crowd of 700 people in attendance. The location was kept a secret because of the threat of religious protests. CBN News reports that the Satanic Temple had plans for a private event at a Detroit restaurant, but the owner canceled the group’s reservation after learning of what was planned. Bert Dearing, the owner of the restaurant, was quoted by Web Pro News: “When I rented the place, I just thought it was a church. I didn’t know about the unveiling of a statue. We weren’t aware they were into devil worshiping.”

Witnesses say that attendees were forced to clear two security checkpoints at separate locations before arriving.

However, opponent Matt Pearson, an executive producer of Church Militant, discovered the location at Chene Park in downtown Detroit.

According to a Fox News report, the “guests were washed in red light shining down from the rafters at the venue as “dark punk” bands played and DJs performed from a stage located beneath a lighted, upside-down crucifix. Satanic Temple officials delivered speeches and a pair of shirtless men held candles on either side of the statue, prior to its unveiling.”

A ‘no photography policy’ was passed at the event, but despite the decree, a six-second Vine has surfaced of the ‘great unveiling’. Meanwhile, the news has now gone viral, and some prominent Nigerians have begun to share it on tweets and Facebook statuses.

The Satanic Temple says it supports separation of church and state, hence the statue was meant for the state capitol in Oklahoma City until its Supreme Court banned a monument of the Ten Commandments.

Jex Blackmore, the director of the Satanic Temple Detroit chapter, said temple members planned to transport the sculpture to Arkansas, where earlier this year, the governor signed a bill authorizing a Ten Commandments monument on the State Capitol’s grounds.

The Temple had unsuccessfully applied to have the statue placed near the Ten Commandments monument installed in 2012 on the Oklahoma State Capitol grounds.

A human like “Angel” has fallen out of the skies over London. The extremely human like creature with what seems to be “angel” wings as arms appears to have fallen from the sky at around 1:50pm this afternoon.

The ‘Angel’ like creature was quickly rushed away by what seemed to be undercover police officers dressed in suits and sunglasses, resembling the characters in the hit movie Men in Black.

It comes just hours before NASA announced finding ‘Earth 2.0′ the most habitable planetever discovered.

“Well over 100 people” involved in vandalisation of pipelines and theft of petrol died during an operation in the early hours of Wednesday,Metronaija has been informed. According to a source, who did not want to be named because of his “close relationship” with the vandals, so many of them “were so burnt that their faces could not be recognised”.

Describing how the “tragedy” occurred, he said the vandals had already concluded their operation and were to leave when their speed boat refused to start. “It was while trying to start the speedboat that there was a spark.

I learnt that many people died, but more than 100 of them were so burnt that we could not even recognise their faces. “It’s a very sad day for those guys because it’s a job where one person is involved in, and he brings in his brothers and sisters.

“It’s a very dangerous job; they die just the way they make money. They make so much money that some of them buy cars after ‘working’ two weeks. Even those who are involved just on the periphery make up to N300,000 in one day. Their arrowheads make more than N2 million daily.”

Two other sources confirmed the occurrence to Metronaija, one suggesting that the casualty toll “could have been higher than reported”. The other said: “It is sad. More than hundred died. And even those who are still alive are bearing very serious injuries and they have no hope of surviving

A bomb explosion suspected to be from a male suicide bomber has killed six persons including the bomber.
The blast occurred at a local branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God along Bauchi road in Potiskum Town, Yobe State.

A resident of the town who is also one of the officials working with the aid agencies informed Metronaija that the bomb went off at a time worshipers were observing the Sunday service.
“Six persons died and there are no reports of injuries yet” he said.

Efforts to speak with the police were unsuccessful as their phones were switched off.

Also, the spokesperson of the Joint Task Force in Yobe, Lazarus Eli, said he had travelled out of the state for an official assignment and is yet to be briefed on the matter.
