The recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood. This is because the police in Enugu are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally. This feud has seemingly put one group known as Nollywood Apostles against other stakeholders in Enugu State led by Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G, making it very difficult for the center to hold. As at last Thursday, some of Nollywood’s big wigs involved were still angry and had refused to show up at the Police Area Command, Abakpa Nike, Enugu where the case was domiciled. The Area Commander had arranged for them to settle the matter amicably. Checks reveal that Nollywood Apostles comprising some of the best faces in the movie industry including Steve Ajebo Eboh, Charles Awurum, Emeka Enyiocha, Benedict Johnson, Chinwe Owoh, and Ngozi Ezeonu among others had been featuring at several PDP campaign rallies including the one that brought Dame Jonathan to Enugu. According to a source, trouble started after the departure of the First Lady when facilitators of the rally, Patience Ozokwor and Chinyere Wilfred were on stage giving the vote of thanks. An aide to Dame Jonathan had allegedly dropped a parcel containing N3 million into the hands of one of the actors, which he quickly cornered with the connivance of his fellow ‘Apostles’. But the cookies crumbled when the aide called Mama G aside and intimated her of the monetary gift and to whom it was handed. “The real drama started when the actor who collected the parcel was about to zoom out of the venue in his car. Mama G re-enacted her screen roles for real. In her view, the money was meant for all the stakeholders who graced the rally and not only for the Nollywood Apostles. Mama G stood in the way of the car, yelling and asking to be crushed just as she sent someone to call the police. She didn’t mind being called witch, ashawo and all sorts of unprintable names. She blocked the car until the police came and took all the parties to the station,” a source says. However, Steve Eboh has denied ever being involved in such a show of shame. He told Entertainer: “I never had anything to do with any money or anything like that. Don’t mind them, my brother. As I speak with you now, I am on my way to see Father Ede in Elele, Rivers State.” For Charles Awurum, who later returned this reporter’s call after several phone calls made to him, it was denial all the way. Hear him: “I don’t know about any issues concerning Dame Jonathan’s money. I am in Port Harcourt now, please.” On her part, Patience Ozokwor confirmed the story but she wouldn’t want to elaborate further, until after the elections. “The police have invited everyone to the station for settlement,” she volunteered. - Sun News http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/29/shame-as-nollywood-stars-fight-over-patience-jonathans-n3m/ |

Hey peeps any mathematical genius in my list? Pls ping, I need a solution to a statistics questions. UNIT: Research Methods for Postgraduates (ENVI 1096) Statistics Assessment SET: Wednesday, 4th March 2015 DEADLINE: Sunday 29th March 2015 SUBMISSION Electronic via Moodle __________________________________________________________________________________________ Data for all exercises is contained in the Excel spreadsheet MSc StatsAss 2014-15 Data.xls. EXERCISE 1 The data in this exercise are average heavy metal concentrations in freshwater fish from a survey of agricultural and urban catchments in the UK. Catchments were randomly chosen, fish were collected from each catchment, and the average heavy metal concentration in the fish was measured (in µg/g). There is one value for each catchment, with a total of 42 agricultural catchments and 30 urban catchments in the study. The investigators want to know: Is there a higher heavy metal concentration in fish from the urban catchments, compared to those from the agricultural catchments? EXERCISE 2 From 1975 to 2008 investigators collected peak discharge data for 352 storm events from two catchments in the same relative location (one forested, one comprising mainly grassland). Both catchments have similar elevation and lie on western facing slopes. Discharge (sometimes called flow) is measured in units of volume per time: in this data set, discharge is recorded in "cubic metres per second", or m3/s. The forested catchment in this study has an area of about 45 square kilometres (km2) while the grassland catchment has an area of 21 km2. To eliminate the effects of area on discharge, the data has been adjusted or "normalized" to give what is referred to as "Unit Discharge", with measurement units in "cubic metres per second per square kilometre" (m3/s/km2). Unit discharge tells us how much flow comes off a standard sized piece of land in the catchment, on average. The investigators want to know: (a) Is there a difference in the average peak discharge between the two different catchment types? (b) Is there any evidence of a correlation between the discharges from the two catchments, and if so, is it significant and what is its magnitude? (c) Is there any evidence that there has been a change in average peak discharges pre- and post-2000 in forested and/or grassland catchments? Produce a report which provides the following: Your answer for each question should be a short paragraph containing the following: The Null and Alternative Hypotheses you are using; What method/test do you believe is the most appropriate to analyze these data? Explain your choice and provide any evidence to back-up your explanation (for example if you stipulate a parametric test of any sort, then you must provide evidence that the data you are testing are normally distributed); An appropriate concluding answer to the questions set. The key thing to think about is the use of the most APPROPRIATE test for each exercise. Often this will be based on your interpretation of the nature of the data, and hence, there may be more than one way to answer the questions. BUT you must justify what you do. In addition, you are allowed to present results from only one test: FOR EXAMPLE – DO NOT CARRY OUT BOTH A T-TEST AND A MANN-WHITNEY TEST FOR DIFFERENCES; CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER; DO NOT CARRY OUT BOTH A 1-TAILED AND A 2-TAILED TEST – CHOOSE WHICHEVER IS APPROPRIATE. Your mark for this assignment will be based on your explanation of the choice of analysis and whether you provide appropriate answers to the investigator's questions. Marks will be deducted if you fail to fully justify what you do, and present results from multiple tests. Submit your work electronically by the deadline of Friday 4th April 2014 (11.59pm). You will NOT be allowed to submit electronically after this deadline, and this WILL RESULT IN NO MARKS BEING AWARDED UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. ______________________________________________________________________________________ DO NOT SIMPLY SUBMIT AN SPSS OUTPUT FILE. YOU MUST PRODUCE A WORD DOCUMENT. NOTE: YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE APPROPRIATE DIAGRAMS AND TABLES FROM SPSS OUTPUTS INTO YOUR DOCUMENT. |

It was a sad day at Cynthia Morgan’s camp yesterday as the news of the passing of her former personal assistant came to the camp- juwon was a great assistant and one who was there when it all started far back 2009, juwom was just 22 years old when he passed on, cause of death was yet to be ascertain at the time of filling this report, but from what we know the young man slumped and died at an even he was organizing, instead of being rushed to the hospital onlookers reportedly took several pictures of him and up loaded on social media. What a wicked world. Rip Juwon http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/24/sad-cynthia-morgan-weeps-over-the-death-of-her-personal-assistant/ |

This court verdict has proved me right in my yesterday's and today assurance to my fellow Nigerians in which I said there is no judge in this country born of a woman that will ever compromise his or her integrity by making a pronouncement that Buhari is disqualified on whatever reason three days to the poll. Of course, every right-thinking Nigerian really should know the implication! I also said even if such a judge is offered the whole of $20Billion NNPC stolen fund, at this crucial period to the presidential election, no judge can ever accept such bogus bribe to throw the whole Nigeria into turmoil and chaos, which will be in an unimaginable proportion, for pecuniary gain. Because everyone knows that Buhari is not only academically but also intellectually qualified. I then concluded that unless a judge is compromised and ready to do away with whatever integrity he or she may have had that Buhari's disqualification, under whatever guise, will be pronounced in his or her court. It is like when a judge nullifies the election that brought into power a sitting president, who is loved by the majority of the citizens, in favour of an 'unpopular' opposition candidate. What will happen in that situation is exactly what would have happened if Buhari was disqualified by justice Ademola today to participate in the presidential election. Despite the fact that Buhari is not that 'beloved' sitting president, but he is more popular than our own sitting president whose popularity is diminishing day by day! Of course, the consequences would really and properly have been considered by Justice Ademola because we can't just avoid to face the consequences of a verdict if it had gone the other way round. It could have been very disastrous! On this note, I will want my fellow Nigerians to join me in welcoming General Muhammad Buhari to Aso Rock villa come May 29. Change is already on its way! http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/25/opinion-the-consequences-of-buharis-disqualification/ |

THE AGN CRISIS Appeal for calm and restraint from AGN members worldwide In the last couple of days I have received thousands of calls, mails and messages asking questions and expressing solidarity with me on the court decision on the AGN elections. Its no longer news that Ibinabo Fiberesima was three days ago removed as the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN by a court in Lagos. Since then, mixed-reactions have continued to trail her removal. While some Nollywood practitioners have started to drum up support for the Ibinabo-led AGN government, while many others are jubilating over the removal of the ex beauty queen as the guild’s lord. One of the actors who are jubilating is MC Smith Ochendo who once dragged Ibinabo to court in 2013, to seek the interpretation of the court on whether the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima should hold the post or not, being as ex-convict. Reacting to the ruling, Ochendu said, “justice has prevailed against all odds. “The Court of Law is not ruled by emotion. The truth must prevail at all time. The court ordered all parties involved to maintain the status quo, but the Board of Trustees of AGN went ahead and conducted the election, presenting Ibinabo as the President of the Guild. But today, justice has prevailed. I am on a movie set in Enugu and we are jubilating at the moment,” he echoed. Also, writing on his Facebook page popular film director, Dickson Iroegbu said, “When I heard over the radio that the former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had been sacked by the court, I quickly called my Rasta brethren McSmith Ochendo to affirmed the news – thereafter I called another brethren, now acting president, Chief Emeka Ike to salute his rugged and dogged commitment to the rule of law. I advised though, that this victory be celebrated by all Nollywoodians at home and abroad. May the face of Nollywood reclaim her pride of place again.”, he penned down. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/21/nollywood-stars-jubilate-over-ebinabos-down-fall-as-agn-president/ |

Court orders ex-detainee to serve Tinubu Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday granted an order of substituted means in a suit seeking to re-open investigations into the murder of a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Funsho Williams. One of the detainees in the murder trial, Bashir Junaid, had filed the suit seeking an order of mandamus compelling the Inspector-General of Police (IG) to re-open investigations into how the late PDP stalwart was murdered in cold blood. Williams was killed on July 27, 2006 at his Dolphin Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. Junaid, a former cemetery attendant, was detained for about one year in connection with the killing, but later released. He had filed the suit before Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia and listed the IG at the time, Mr. Sunday Ehindero; Lagos State Commissioner of Police; the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in the murder case; Attorney-General of the Federation at the time; Mrs. Modupe Shasore; PDP; former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu; Dr. Muiz Banire; Mr. Babatunde Edu; Mr. Dele Alake; and Oladele Ajomale, as respondents. When the matter came up yesterday, lawyer to the plaintiff, Tunji Adesheye, moved an ex-parte application for substituted service and service of the writ of summons on some of the defendants outside the jurisdiction. The order was granted as prayed by Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia, who later adjourned the matter to April 29 for hearing. In the suit, Junaid, cited Tinubu as a prime suspect. The plaintiff is also praying the court to compel the Attorney General of the Federation to direct the appropriate organ in the criminal justice administration in Nigeria, to commence prosecution of the alleged suspects. The plaintiff is asking for a claim for compensatory and exemplary damages of N5 billion against the 11 defendants for their actions or inaction over his illegal detention and psychological trauma. In a 48-point statement of claims in support of the suit, Junaid who lives at 6/8 Oladiti Street, Ilupeju, Palm Grove, Lagos, averred that due to the influence of Tinubu and Banire and the compromising position of the investigators at the Federal Central Investigations Department (FCID) Alagbon, Banire was only cautioned and made to rewrite another statement by the police, while his freely confessed statement which could have assisted the police in its attempt to unravel the actual killers of Williams, with the concrete and implicating evidence was discarded by the police at Alagbon Close, Lagos. He contended that with the botched and compromised investigations of the murder of Williams by the FCID, which led to letting the 7th to 11th defendants off the hook, as no further interrogations were directed at him, he was pushed from one officer to the other, until he was released by the Lagos High Court which declared that his continued detention by the police was unconstitutional and illegal as his continuous arrest was a flagrant violation of his fundamental human rights to personal liberty. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/20/apc-national-leader-bola-tinubu-accused-of-mulder/ |

Top 14 Nollywood Actresses With Little Or No Scandals. In an industry filled with scandals, husband snatching, sexual promiscuity, and reckless life styles, it’s worthy to note that some few actresses still conduct themselves in a decent manner. Controversies and scandals are parts of the entertainment industry. The fact that an actress doesn’t have scandals today, doesn’t mean she may not have tomorrow. Here is a list of top Nollywood actresses with little or no scandals. 1 DAKORE EGBUSON-AKANDE Dakore has never been associated with any scandal even when she was single. The only man that was always seen with her then was her husband who was her fiance then. Dakore has been able to create a positive image for herself. 2 CHIOMA CHUKWUKA-AKPOTA Chioma has a good girl image. She is a born again too. Chioma is scandal free. The only time she attracted much press attention was at the maiden edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search- Celebrity Edition, where some fans bashed her for her attitude towards Muma G, and also when she was reported to have engaged in war of words with one journalist in an aircraft after one of the editions of AMAA held in Bayelsa. Though, AY later defended the actress. Take note she has some real bad attitude that I won’t classify as scandal. 3 SOLA ASEDEKO Sola is another Yoruba actress with little or no scandals. 4 DAMILOLA ADEGBITE The Tinsel star actress is scandal free. She has been able to carry herself well despite her beauty. Although some people questioned why she allowed herself to be impregnated by a Ghanaian actor without being properly married, but that didn’t generate any scandal. 5 RITA DOMINIC Rita has a positive image for herself. Rita conducts herself in a decent manner and as such has been able to stay off scandals. 6 KATE HENSHAW. Kate has no scandals. Even her separation from her British ex hubby didn’t generate scandals. 7 UFUOMA EJINOBOR Ufuoma hasn’t been associated with any scandal. The only time she had little negative press was when she had a problem with the convoy of a top politician in Lagos. 8 STEPHANIE OKEREKE-LINUS The very stunning actress has been without scandals for years now. Of course that could have been a hoax. 9 OMONI OBOLI Omoni has less or no scandal. Check out these throw back pic of Cynthia morgan, before and after the alleged nose and boobs job. I exclusively sort after these pictures when the news of the dance hall queen doing a nose and boob's job made headline in different blogs and news papers, I was able to lay my hands on photos of her at age 17 when she was still that very good mommy's girl,, she was obviously born gorgeous with these nose and boobs. The dance-hall queen was nicknamed white noise in her primary school days. Which she felt was an insult as a child says her childhood friend who released these photos to me. And I am sure you all can be the judge here, spot the difference. For me I can only say she was born gorgeous. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/18/check-out-these-throw-back-pic-of-cynthia-morgan-before-and-after-the-alleged-nose-and-boobs-job/

Court Removes Nollywood Actress Ibinabo Fiberesima As AGN President. Ibinabo Fiberesima was this morning removed as President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on the orders of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. Justice James Tsoho who gave the ruling, said the election was conducted against court order and ordered all parties involved to maintain the status quo. The suit was filed by an actor, St. Maradona Mikevine, who was the national treasurer in the election that produced another popular actor, Emeka Ike, as AGN president. Mikevine, in his suit, argued that the election that brought Ibinabo into office was conducted in the face of a subsisting court order restraining the conduct of AGN election. He had urged the court to determine whether it was proper for an election to be conducted in the face of an order to the contrary, and whether anyone could parade himself or herself as AGN executive based on an election conducted against a court order. The suit that brought about the initial order was filed by Emeka Ike. But Ibinabo who insisted that she was not the one that conducted the election that produced her as AGN president but the AGN board itself, had stressed that Mikevine ought to have channelled his grievance with the election to the Electoral Committee of AGN and not the court. Ike had filed the suit on July 25, 2013 to contest the formation of an illegal government coined “National Unity,” to run the affairs of the AGN. The actor had sought an order of court, reviewing the 2007 Constitution of the guild, as it relates to the tenure of members of board of trustees. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/03/17/court-removes-nollywood-actress-ibinabo-fiberesima-as-agn-president/ |
