NEWS NUGGET- State of economy: We’ll beg Nigerians for patience – Buhari. ABUJA— President-elect, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has said that he is currently at a loss on how best to tell Nigerians that his promise of turning the economy around quickly upon assumption of office on May 29 may not be feasible after all. Buhari premised his fear on the perception that the economy has been battered by the outgoing government of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. REFLECTION- PDP'S empty treasury have nothing to do with fulfilling your election promises. Promises are made on tangible income and not savings. Mr President Elect, election promises are not made based on treasury but Country's yearly financial budget. Nigerians are hoping your election promises were made based on the yearly budgetary allocation. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/05/06/state-of-economy-well-beg-nigerians-for-patience-buhari/ |

I have never flown first class in my life” – Silverbird Boss Ben Murray Bruce says Chairman of Silverbird Group and Senator-Elect Mr. Ben Murray Bruce has revealed that he has never flown in first class before despite his wealth. Speaking at the Man of the Year Award in Lagos last night, May 3, 2015, the Silverbird boss also said he has not stayed at an hotel over $300 per night. "I have never flown first class in my life. Our leaders must be accountable, I have never stayed in a hotel that’s more than 300 dollars a night, it doesn’t make sense to lodge in a 4000 dollar hotel, not because I can’t afford it, but because if I think of the masses" he said. "I run a company and at the end of the month I have to make payroll, so I can’t justify it, our politicians must imbibe this attitude as well. Nigeria is too poor for our leaders to act like multi-billionaires, and Nigeria is too rich for our people to be poor" he further stated. NEWS NUGGET- MTN licence to expire in 2016, threatens to hike tariff if MTN Nigeria has threatened to hike its tariff if Nigeria’s government made its licence conditions more stringent as its licence will expire in 2016. Andrew Bing, chief financial officer of MTN Nigeria told Bloomberg that “Tougher rules, tougher regulations, greater demands ultimately will impact price, the more you charge up front or the more you demand over a period of time. Well, somebody has to pay for it. Ultimately, the subscribers are the people who will have to pay.” REFLECTION - MTN Nigeria made $2,6B Profit in 2014. NIGERIAN, relief is just one year away for Nigerians. This is a negotiation every Nigerian will be involved in. How can a company make so much and is not required to keep a percentage here? How can a company make so much and is not required to be quoted in our stock market for Nigerians to benefit? This leakage must stop. How can they justify tarrif increase from their license renewal with this kind of profit? Nigerians are very alert and this will be one negotiation they will be involved in. To qoute Olisa Agbakoba "MTN makes much money in Nigeria than Dangote Group of Companies and all the banks put together. Yet, they have nothing here" http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/05/04/mtn-licence-to-expire-in-2016-threatens-to-hike-tariff-if/ |

Stamford Bridge wakes up erupts! It wasn’t pretty today. It was a slog. It was tough to watch at times. But from Chelsea’s perspective, it was worth it in the end. It wasn’t a performance that will win over the neutrals or make the accusations of tedium go away, while there are bound to be a few grumbles over the way that Eden Hazard won his penalty. But Kevin Friend’s final whistle brought confirmation of what has been on the cards for a long time: Chelsea are the champions of England for the first time since 2010. They have been the best team, Hazard has been the best player and Jose Mourinho has been the best manager. Congratulations are in order. Now they have to retain it. Thanks for reading. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/05/03/chelsea-crowned-premier-league-champions-after-crystal-palace-win-as-it-happened/ |

The booby traps before Buhari – Olisa Agbakoba. Ahead of the inauguration of the president-elect, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and human rights activist, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, looks at issues in the polity which, according to him, border on national order, constitutional reform, devolution of powers, anti-corruption, diversification of the economy, driving new public revenue, maritime, space and aviation. Agbakoba, however, says the litmus test for the president-elect concerns the political will to deal with salaries paid to federal lawmakers as well as the huge budgetary allocation to the Presidential Villa. Excerpts: ECONOMY- Look at South Africa that is giving us problems today owns MTN. But MTN makes much money in Nigeria than Dangote Group of Companies and all the banks put together. Yet, they have nothing here. How can any serious policy planner allow such a leak, where people are allowed to come into the country, make money and take it away. With this, Nigeria will continue to bleed. So, financial planning requires Gen. Buhari to shed the roots and trees. He has to put Nigeria first. I had expected the Nigerian government to summon the South African ambassador and warn him that their businesses here will suffer if they continue to kill Nigerians in their country. Nigeria is a great country and I had only wished that the incoming President will fulfil his campaign promises. CONTINUED- CONSTITUTION- One thing we must understand is that Nigeria’s problem is not its economic resources or its finances, but its lack of peace. This lack of peace has a history in the shape of three political constitutions we have operated. The colonial constitution, which was not in the interest of Nigeria; the civil constitution, which lasted between 1960 and 1966 and didn’t serve the interest of Nigerians; and the military constitutions designed to empower the various heads of state but didn’t have the interest of Nigerians at heart. The makers of the constitutions were ruling for the sake of themselves and their constituencies. Therefore, there wasn’t any peace and that was why the pro-democracy movement rose to challenge and confronted them. Then, we had the Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan’s attempts to find peace in Nigeria. The National Conferences we have had were about peace and stability in Nigeria. That is why the biggest power the President enjoys is the power given by Section 5 to order the state of things in Nigeria, for the peace, order and good governance of the country. But, unfortunately, the National Conference process starting from Obasanjo, who had a third term agenda, was not genuine and the Jonathan process, which I was a party to, is incomplete. As I speak, we don’t have political compass for Nigeria. So, we are a mass of people with various cleavages and fault lines – religious, ethnic, linguistic – roaming in the vast territorial space called Nigeria, which Chief Obafemi Awolowo referred to as a geographical expression. We have not condescended Nigeria into a national spirit which we can say for the love of country. Unless, this is tackled, we are heading nowhere yet. This is why I have written the president-elect to be aware of the booby-traps. CORRUPTION- The second most important issue Buhari must pay attention to is corruption. All governments of Nigeria have paid lip-service to the issue of corruption. Buhari has now presented himself as a person and he has gotten a groundswell of support from Nigerians across the divides to tackle corruption. So, he has to be held to account for all the political promises he made. He should deal with the unconstitutional salaries of the National Assembly members. The Revenue Fiscal Mobilization and Allocation Commission (RFMAC) sets salaries, but the National Assembly refused to follow it. The money Nigerian lawmakers get constitutes about 25 percent of our national budget. Why won’t Nigerians want to go to the National Assembly if, as a member of the House of Representatives, I can get about N600 million, on the average, in a year? The lawmakers in the Senate get as much as N1 billion per annum; that’s why they kill themselves to go there. So, the lawmaker’s interest is not to go and make or pass laws, but because of the money that is there. That is also why they perform below average. I see this development as a corrupt practice and that is another most important thing Buhari must confront. The National Assembly must be brought to book. They must be made to conform with the constitution. It’s a big shame that the lawmakers are the ones that break the constitution and pay themselves the stupendous salaries they take home. I put this as a litmus test to Buhari. If he is able to tackle this issue of bringing the National Assembly within the lawful pay structure of Nigeria, I will clap for him. Then, of course, the profligate lifestyle of the average Nigerian politician has to go. Ten aircraft in the presidential fleet, when we have no national carrier? http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/05/02/the-booby-traps-before-buhari-olisa-agbakoba/ |

How to Spot a Fake Pastor Not all pastors are called by God. Some are called by their own greed, pride, as well as financial gain. Here are just a few obvious traits that are around a fake pastor that has put himself at pastoral duty and not by God. 1 Pride – Beware of pastors who habitually refers to the congregation as “my church,” instead of “the church.” Acts 20:28 – Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God , which he obtained with his own blood. 2 Do not trust a pastor who has children that are not model Christians themselves. According to the bible, if a pastor cannot take care of his own household, he cannot take care of the church. He must also love his wife ‘as Christ loves the church.’ Titus 1:6 – “namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife , having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion .” 3 Watch out for pastors who use church finances to “pay themselves” and buy extravagant homes, cars and/or other extravagant items.1 Timothy 6:5 – “and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain” 4 Look out for pastors who do not do as they preach. Although this characteristic does not necessarily mean to leave your church. According to Jesus in Matthew (23:3) “So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.” This means as long as you are receiving the truth, even when it is from Satan himself or other (if it were possible) you should still listen to that message about the truth. Having said that make sure you do you homework! Acts 17:11 – “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Do not go to a church because you are comfortable there, plain and simply, choose a church that doesn’t just teach messages on Sundays but follows and strives to be like Jesus Christ – our Lord and Savior. 1 The pastor is not divine, he himself is a saved depraved soul, so what is he without a Holy and Just God? 2 Listen to the Pastor’s messages and be as the Bereans and double check if the things they preach are true. Warnings Pastors that are sent from God himself know who’s in charge, know how small they really are and serve the church, not control it. 1Peter 5:3 – “not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.” Although it seems so, this article does not say that you have to have a “perfect” pastor. But he does have to be perfectly in tune with God’s word and what God’s word requires him to do when he does mess up. NEWS NUGGET - Man who shot South African Lucky Dube says he thought he was a Nigerian. About an hour after they pumped two bullets into Lucky Dube, the alleged killers returned to where the reggae superstar lay dead to see if any of the bystanders recognised them. This was the chilling evidence of a state witness, who also revealed on Tuesday that the two men on trial for the murder didn't recognise him and thought he was a Nigerian. Question- So if Lucky Dube was a Nigerian living in South Africa he deserves to die? Do you feel our Government have open up Nigerian market to foreign investors with no protection of Nigerians in same business who can't compete. Are South African business policies as liberal as ours or more protective of their own? DSTV went ahead to increase their rates regardless of court judgement. Can they do this in South Africa? Am not an economist but should these companies be compelled to retain a certain amount of their profit in Nigeria unlike what we have now where every kobo of their profit is taken back to develop their country from the sweat of Nigerians. We can only speculate how much of Nigeria's money was used in sponsoring the world cup in South Africa. They come with give employment to a few Nigerian, reap us off with profit and take the money out to develop their country. This has to CHANGE. While Nigeria has open up her market the South Africans are killing her citizens in return. God bless Nigeria. http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/04/16/man-who-shot-south-african-lucky-dube-says-he-thought-he-was-a-nigerian/ |

Meanwhile it's same financial requirement to pull people to come into 29 cinemas that would be needed to equally fill up 1000 cinemas, then after two weeks in the cinemas, it's time up and to God be they glory if one million will be yours to have,VAT,Lagos state Entertainment tax, sharing to this and that,!
