I checked my phone and it was Myra calling. Why was she calling by this time? Anyway, it was just 8pm, not very late. I picked the call with a smile on my face 'hello dear'

'hello Nath. Good evening. Whats up?'

'i'm cool. You?'

'i'm alright. I'm doing just fine. Have you had dinner?'

'yes. I just finished eating with my mum, what about you?'

'i'm not in the mood to eat so i've not eaten anything'

'why? Are you okay?'

'oh' i was slightly embarrassed. I didnt know why. Wasnt she even embarrassed telling me that?

She just chuckled then ended the call.

I slowly dropped the phone on my bed. I walked to my wardrobe and opened it. I brought out a picture. And i smiled. Kainene's smiling face was something i could look at everday.
I was about going back to bed when i heard my mum scream.

I held this darkskinned man tightly 'please help me hold my son. Dont let him run away please. Lets take him to a psychiatric hospital immediately before it becomes worse than it already is please' i wept.

The man held me and assured me he and his boys were going to catch up with Nathan.

Tired of running and with my already aching legs, i sat on a pavement and watched as the men gathered a chain, a rop and a whip, then they went after Nathan who was busying dancing and playing with some children in his unclothedness.

I kept weeping and praying. I didnt know how it happened but Nathan was mad. He was mad!

When he sighted the men approaching him, he held his manhood and danced around with it saying 'shaka shakabula. Shakakpum shakakpum, oya shaka shakabula!' the children laughed.

Just when the men were about grabbing him, he ran away and the men chased after him. I kept shouting from where i sat for him to be caught.

'if you do good chewinggum, oh oh oh oh chewinggum, oh oh oh chewinggum waiting for you' i looked back to see who was singing.

And behold it was Kainene!

She was dressed in what i would term as rags and she was holding a packet of orbit chewinggum as children gathered around her. I screamed. What was happening? I continued screaming and screaming and just then, i woke up to see Nathan by my side.

I sighed in relief then i quickly ran my hands all over his body to ensure myself that he was safe and sound. I couldnt tolerate anything happening to this boy because i had grown to love him as my son now.

'mum, are you alright? A terrible nightmare?' he held my hands tightly with worry and concern all over his face.

I touched the freckles of his curly hair 'i had a very terrible nightmare. About you son'

'about me?'

'get me water first' i pointed at the mini refridgerator just beside my bed. He opened it and handed me a bottled water. I drank from it.

'thanks' i said.

He just nodded 'so what did you dream about me?'

Then i became scared all over again. Nathan couldnt run mad. No never! But then, why would he and Kainene ever want to run mad at the same time? Was it because they werent together anymore? Was there a strong hold binding them together? Or were they involved in a blood convenant? I wondered.

'i dreamt of you and Kainene running mad'

The look of shock on his face was evident.
