idupaul: Didn't Mend take up arms recently against the FG ? Have they been crushed .. So because Egoon people don't have oil the should be crushed !!! Abeg parkwell Joorwhich MEND took up arms ? Don't talk about what you know nothing of jor. |
Why should the ACN panic because of UPN ? Its just not possible, the UPN has no political muscle to bother the ACN in the SW as they are already well integrated there, the best they can hope for is if the ACN slips in governance by 2019 elections then they can pounce. |
Even in a CPC state sef ? So sad the corruption of absolute power. |
OsunOriginal: Illiterate OP. Did you bother to read other people's posts? Look for the following threads.tribal bigot, so anyone who has an opinion different from yours is automatically "from the bush from SE" ? Smh |
Obviously Tinubu has a brick where his brain is supposed to be, I never knew his desperation for power was this bad, if GEJ coughs or s#its now its definitely because of 2015 elections I'm not surprised the OP was salivating and jumping gleefully while posting this garbage, I have always called him a RABID PUPPY dog and his stvpidity in celebrating this article has cemented my view of him. ![]() PEACE |
Would still have prefered military administrators in the affected states while the obviously bloody guilty governors would be secretly investigated for their culpability and findings "leaked" to the media ![]() |
abubello: so those rules and regulations should override ones religious injunctions? Why should a muslim girl who wants to cover her modesty be forced to expose her nak.edness to the public?shebi you saw the part about registering your child in a private muslim school ? Don't blackmail other people because you want to practice your religeon |
kq: Bros you talk correct sense abeg. Imagine a thread on broadband penetration in Lagos and people are talking about population control. I am Yoruba and also lived in Lagos, I wonder how the government hopes to do fibre to home as a last mile connection when there is no infrastructure in place to support it. Instead of us just trolling and shouting Eko o ni baje at every opportunity just because a good idea was pronounced, how about we ask the necessary questions. As far as i am aware, xDSL as a means of broadband access in Lagos died a long time ago besides fibre optic access for core network transmission for the major mobile cellular companies is so erratic partly due to many fibre cuts as a result of digging on our roads. So how can we ensure that this does not affect the ordinary citizen who needs it for last mile access. Also repair time for most fibre cuts is long enough due to the necessary permissions needed for digging roads and even tout activity.oga, they're not talking about kicking out foreigners but rather other Nigerians who aren't from the "republic of Lagos state" they aren't trying to curb rural/urban migration in any way by their statements but rather saying "don't come to my country (Lagos). Its funny the pathetic s#it coming from these our so called online "progressives" their stvpidity is beyond astounding. |
To solve this BH issue is relatively easy as far as I'm concerned but are Nigerians ready to pay the price ? If the FG starts cracking down on sponsors within and outside the corridors of power will we applaud the govts courage or condemn it as pre 2015 antics meant to clear out trouble makers who might be a stumbling block for GEJ come the next elections ? Are we sure this country will not erupt into a north vs south sectarian violence/civil war if the FG decides to apprehend BH sponsors ? That the BH hasn't attacked down south doesn't mean they can't do so anytime they wish to but are we prepared to support the FG and tell them go ahead and flush these miscreants out we're behind you ? The seat of power right now is very hot, there are people who openly promised to make this country ungovernable for this administration. The solution to this problem is quite simple but can we live with the plausible consequences ? Let's not turn this country into another Syria or Libya out of our intellectual stupid/ty. |
Some people will just come here spouting nonsense about hip hop and naija's music industry when they know absolutely zero about it. What's even more pathetic is that they even compare Nigeria with America. This same America where radio/tv stations pay royalty to their music artistes, where there are reputable distribution companies not our Alaba gangsters. American artistes get royalty on every single album sold and they also make money from every single song sold online through itunes and other such portals. In Nigeria, an artiste has to PAY radio and tv to have his/her song played, an artiste has to pay Alaba boys and other criminals across the country to market their songs. American hardcore rappers are definitely bound to be richer than their Nigerian counterparts with all these advantages. I laugh at people especially on this thread, KRS ONE and the rest have their LOYAL fan base who actually BUY their albums and thus ensure their steady royalty both online and in hard copies but does that mean KRS is a multi platinum selling artiste anytime he releases an album ? The answer is an emphatic NO. Young guns like Asap Rocky, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross etc are the ones making the major bucks just the same way Olamide, Ice Prince, MI etc are the one making the bucks in Nigeria. Does it mean Ice Prince/MI et al don't know how to rap ? Silly question when they keep all the tenets and rules of a proper rap song even the Olamide who raps in vernacular is actually keeping it REAL because the ordinary man on the street feels/understands his music which is actually the whole point of music, why do you think STYLEE is the most popular track and perhaps the best mode9 has ever been on markeing wise ? In fact next time, ask a marketer how difficult it is to sell a mode9 album even with his "numerous" fans out there. Music is business and it should be treated like such, keep the gangsta/hardcore s#it for your mixtapes then the real s#it for your albums and stop boring Nigerians to death with your awanna ganna jargons, we've got a lot of that coming from America already. By Tonnie Iredia Democracy is acclaimed worldwide as the best form of government but its features appear rather easy to bastardize. In a democracy, power is said to belong to the people and that they exercise it through a government that is made up of a group of persons selected by the people. What this suggests, is that government ought to constantly feel the puluse of the people on public policies, projects and programmes. However, in many developing societies like Nigeria, this hardly happens. Indeed, the representatives of the people who ought to function as the servants of the people, more often than not, lord it over the people. Quite often, these overlords operate above the laws of the land. For instance, in order to have an easy drive from one location to another, they use the instruments of power like the siren and law enforcement agencies to scare away from the public space, ordinary citizens who are going about their lawful businesses. Although the Nigerian constitution clearly stipulates that the main purpose of government is the security and welfare of the people, insecurity has become a recurring feature of public life in the country. As for the welfare of the people, what appears paramount is the pleasure of the “rulers”. This explains why our leaders – another name for the peoples’ representatives – make their own accommodation and feeding a priority. The Governor of a State for example, being the first citizen of the State lives in the best accommodation in the State. Yet when a new Governor assumes office, the said best accommodation suddenly becomes inadequate and has to be renovated, if not entirely replaced with a new Government House. Even Akwa Ibom State, generally applauded for its many first class projects virtually began with the building of a new Government House. The argument that what the immediate past administration in the State wanted to spend on renovating the premises was almost as high as the cost of a new Government House is not the issue. Rather, what we need to ask now is: for how long had the Government House been in existence to require massive renovations or the building of a new one? The last time i sought to glance through government projects in Nigeria on the net, what many States pasted to have done or were doing were interesting. In Abia State, the government was busy with the construction of what it called a new and befitting government house at Ogurube layout. The cost of fencing of the site alone was put at N175million. In far away Abuja, renovation, construction and installation work at the Abia house at a cost of N150million were also in progress. The state government was also spending N500million on quarters for commissioners. In neighbouring Imo State, Government demolished and renovated the existing Government House in Owerri. The cabinet office, the office of the Secretary to the Government and the Governor’s office were all restructured. The old Multi – Purpose Hall was transformed to a mini conference Hall with state – of the art facilities. Meanwhile, the immediate past administration of Chief Ikedi Ohakim, had before leaving office begun the development of the permanent site of the Government House Complex at New Owerri. That massive renovation would be undertaken in Ibadan from the day Otunba Alao Akala left office was not in doubt as Governor Abiola Ajimobi avoided the governor’s office in the state secretariat, Agodi. The programme for the handing over ceremony was supposed to hold in the executive council chambers but it ended up under a canopy erected at the parking lot. The luncheon fixed for the Banquet Hall of the Government House was also shifted to a private location – the Ibadan Civic Centre. Interestingly, Alao Akala had before leaving office, worked not only on the Ibadan location but had also built an ultra modern liaison office at a cost of N170.9million for the State in Lagos. The edifice which has among other things 15 Guest room chalets was to serve as the new Governor’s lodge in Lagos. On its part, the current Ekiti State Government is building a new Government House at a hilltop close to the present one. It has also awarded the construction of the second phase of the new Governor’s Office at a cost of N2.02bn. It is to be completed in 13 months according to the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo. Of course, projects such as new office or residential accommodation for Governors are usually completed on schedule. Only last December when former President Obasanjo visited Katsina, one of the projects he inspected at the instance of Governor Shema was the New Government House which was at the time under construction at Modoji. The beautiful structure appears ready now for show casing to groups like the Good Governance Tour Team but the many questions that analysts would ask about the project may never be answered. If those in government are there on behalf of the people, why do they build, renovate, refurbish and rebuild new Government Houses when many of those for whose sake they are in power are homeless? In the case of Katsina, there is no evidence that government felt the pulse of the people before embarking on the building of a new Government House. Indeed, the story is that a local newspaper –AL MIZAN – had published the findings of its survey showing that the people were against the project. The government has however been touting some strange logic that the funding for the project was sourced from interests which accrued from the state’s resources, lodged in the different commercial banks and not from grants allocated from the federation account. The other pertinent question concerns the use into which the existing Government House will be put when government moves to the new one. Is there a possibility that the speculation that it may be donated to any Governor as gratuity for serving the state will come to pass? Whatever is the answer let our leaders remember that other nations that are not engaged in our kind of covetousness are no fools, hence successive British Prime Ministers for instance enjoy only No 10 Downing Street. They dare not waste public resources in restructuring customized Government Houses. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/05/our-new-ultra-modern-government-houses/ |
Rochas Okorocha the $1 million thief has finally succeded in turning Imo state to a masquerade dancing square pity he is also a "progressive" ![]() |

...." What is the need for setting up a committee to probe a matter that happened between two government agencies for which those concerned can be questioned on oath during the sitting of the house. All those involved in this incident are resident in Nigeria." @OP is spot on with this suggestion, guess the speaker is angry that the aviation authorities nearly denied him the opportunity of boarding such a luxurious bird ![]() |
Eko olee in his bigoted idiocy couldn't concentrate on the job his paymasters employ him fo. Na normal thing already for nairaland ![]() |
dare2think: The title of the thread actually state 'the dirtiness that 'is' Nigeria'.maybe you would have had a different perspective if you felt your ethnic nationality was the target of this topic then again maybe not. Asper being objective, she got many of her photos from google images, she could as easily have gotten/started her topic from her state so as to be fair. Nigeria is a very sensitive country when it comes to such issues as this and if you travel round as much as I do, you would understand. Anyways, its all good. The baby should not be thrown with the bath water |
I don't think people who are angry with the op are doing so for exposing the dirt in their "villages" (if I may borrow that expression from her) I believe the anger stems from the fact that her topic has a subtle ethnic bashing tint to it that portrays the SE as a dirty/backward people. I came across somewhere on this thread that the op is from Ekiti state, why didn't she start the photo postings from there or better still the place of initial abode (Lagos ? Before she travelled out) you don't leave your farm and clear weed from your neighbor's own. Hold your elected officials accountable. |
ckkris: Where are those noise makers?dem dey come, I already have a front row sit for the coming drama in 3D ![]() |
Scarpon: how can he retire when all their do is still the state money in fact, they really "STILL" the state money no be small |
mekaboy: It can never be trashed. Nobody can trash buharis selfish interest to rule Nigeria. No other candidate will be good in his eyes. You can't just bring someone over from his comfortable abode and tell him to forget his dreams which were very possible to achieve just because you're housing him now. Buhari has never told anyone he wants to become a god father or political bystander, his intentions from time has been to become a democratically elected president of Nigeria to "correct" the corruption evils, why should he dump the CPC (through merger) that gave him a platform to contest for APC(?) When they won't give him such a platform ? It would have been better the CPC stays on its own, a little more serious campaign this time would have given the PDP a serious run for their money. So once again I don't believe this story because as I say, any serious group of people would have trashed these things out long ago. |
@OP, do you mean CAN or ACN ? Ok, heard there have been protests in Benin after the last lg elections |
Let the roforofo fight begin ![]() |
I don't believe this article, all these issues would have been trashed out long before now by any serious minded group of people. |
What's so difficult in the police hierarchy prepping the this (ex)CP and a new one at least a month before hand with the new officer being in his duty post at least 2 days before so that all these mess wouldn't have to occur ? It seems the police are highly incompetent at anything higher than collecting 20 naira by the roadside... Smh |
Na Wa! But ibo people have really suffered in this country sha, apart from the fact that I regard SE governors/politicians as buffoons (maybe apart from Chime of Enugu state & Ngige of Anambra) but I have this itchy feeling this thread was strategically set up to ridicule the SE as a whole. Be that as it may, I have said it severally that until we hold our elected public officers accountable to us as a people, then we should continue to receive s#it leadership. P.S I've noticed that most of the people calling for a revolution in Nigeria (which will inevitably be violent) are based abroad, its very funny you want people to die for the country while you're living comfortably outside it, why not come back home to lead the revolution ? |
eko ilee: True slave talk...A bonafide slave calling others slaves CHEI!!! Nigeria don finish true true eko olee do you know you're so useless ? You're the true definition of a bigot you bigot. This is just fvckin amazing coming from you |
