Nigerians are really a confused lot sha never quite sure of what they want. First everyone was angry about GEJ being too close to OBJ even though I actually felt/feel OBJ is the best friend GEJ can have at any given moment as long as he's the president (that's aside) now GEJ has kept himself at poles length away from the Otta farmer and people are complaining again.
These men will surely settle one day very soon so let's leave them alone with their politics

PoliticsIs The Political Sophistication Of The South-west A Fallacy ? by talktimi(op): 11:48am On May 30, 2013
I saw this on a friend's facebook page this morning and thought this would make for an interesting discussion..

BUSTING THE MYTH OF THE POLITICAL SOPHISTCATION OF THE SOUTH-WEST

In the post-Cold War international Political System, the sophistication or otherwise of a State's or Region's political culture and/or system is essentially measured by its level of democratization; in terms of how much that system adheres to the democratic principles.

I have read and heard people talk about the sophistication of the polity of the South-West Geopolitical zone. I don't share that thought. However, the rules of the law of evidence demand that "he who asserts must prove." Thus, this is a challenge on all the protagonists of that thought to prove the sophistication of that system to us.

Caveat: I do not want Oshodi or Balogun Market arguments or personal attacks here. Give me soft words and strong logic. All I demand is empirical analysis to back that claim. Now let's move forward.

I ask, what are the features of that system that attests to its sophistication?

Is it the quality of rulers the various States that make up the region have produced from 1999 to date? Where is the sophistication? Are we talking about Fayose, Alao Akala, Adefarati, Ladoja, Osoba, Niyi Adebayo, Adebisi Akande(ACN Chairman), Dr. Lam Adesina, etc?

Is it the political culture that has a prominent place for structures like the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Alhaji Tokyos of this world in swinging the outcomes of elections? Somebody tell me.

Or is it the system that created Adedibu, and Tinubu?

I am of the considered opinion that the South-West Geopolitical zone is descending into Feudalism, with Tinubu as its Feudal Lord, the Governors, as Nobles and the people as Serfs.

A political system controlled by the interest of ONE man is anything but sophisticated. Today, a vast majority of the states of the South-West are Tinubu's Serdom.

A system where people's 'voting' pattern show clear proofs of bandwagonism is anything but sophisticated. 1999 AD, 2003-2007 PDP and 2011 ACN. What is sophisticated about that?

Please someone should show me.

I say the sophistication of the South West's Political Culture is a myth. You think otherwise, let's play.

At the end of the day, they'll get together, reason and do what's best for the state and they always do. This is the most stable and productive 3 tiers of government in Nigeria... ..

Ok everyone in Rivers state knows the monorail contraption is a purple elephant project judging from the initial distance it covers at least,(most) of the roads constructed have actually started collapsing doesn't mean there aren't good road projects done, we can't crucify him on the health sector especially primary health care although the hospitals are not world class but at least they are functional. True the Skye bank buses are almost gone but that's another issue but in the aspect of shouting down on his commisioners I support that especially during town hall meetings when the commisioners claim to have completed projects in certain communities but obviously haven't done so, does he talk unguardedly ? Yes, should he have allowed himself to be used as a willing tool by an opposition party ? No. But there are simpler ways out of this dilemma than suspension.

PoliticsRe: Amaechi Or Jang: Whom Would You Have Voted For? by talktimi(m): 1:37am On May 27, 2013
I call him a 40% contract kick back thief but we can't deny his political saviness and according to a very good friend of mine, "anyone still arguing that Amaechi did not win the recently held NGF election is a dreamer taking himself on a jolly ride of self deceit" so yes, my vote would always go to Amaechi.

Symphony007: Since this whole debacle started, i've been a firm ameachi supporter, my post's prove that but i don't belive this "report". It flat out rubbish. It makes no sense whatsoever!

P/s: jonathan is still silly for fighting ameachi.
someone once made a joke about politicians popping champagne while their supporters fought over them. Amaechi vs Odili is a very good example, what I'm trying to say is I don't trust politicians and in fact I see this GEJ vs Amaechi thing as a "strategic quarrel". I might be naïve but experience has taught me to take some obvious looking actions with a pinch of salt.
PoliticsRe: Bingeing Caused Furious President Jonathan To Miss Speech Slot At AU Summit. by talktimi(m): 12:00am On May 27, 2013
...One of sources indicated that Mr. Jonathan indeed had a problem with Diarrhoea, adding that the ailment was a direct result of the president's excessive drinking to the wee hours the night before.

This part of the story made me doubt SH as usual, let's assume our "drunken fisherman" drank the night before his speech which took place in the (afternoon ?) Would he still be drunk by that time ? There are simple over the counter drugs that any physician could easily prescribe for diarhea and even a hang over which would have gotten a seasoned alcoholic like our presido ready for the day. I take this as another bulls#it story from saharareporters that is clearly designed to reduce the respect the populace has for their president. The press is a very good propaganda tool and that is why autocratic govts the world over even Nigeria's former military dictatorships tried to curb press freedom hence we had only NTA/FRCN for decades in Nigeria, e ven the great Chief Awolowo & Herbert Macauley knew the efficacy of the press to sway the minds of Nigerians in their independence struggles for this country talkless of a seedy NY based blogsite looking to make a killing off disgruntled naija politicians looking to drag down their opponents.
SMH... Several diplomats confirmed to SH of all news agencies in the world ? Chei, nothing man pikin no go hear. Several sources were in the same room when uncle Jona was shouting on Akpabio ? Haba SH, this news is for small children or naija home video addicts na

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Vs Islam by talktimi(m): 11:55am On May 26, 2013
I keep tellin people in different fora that the BH isn't a religious entity but rather a political contraption drabbed in the garment of religion specifically designed to "make this country ungovernable" for GEJ. But many politicians prefer to fantasize and romantisize this whole debacle by claiming the BH is a by product of underdevelopment and poverty in the north, I ask a question, can a "poor" man afford bomb making instruments and chemicals in such large quantities or even sophisticated weapons ?
GEJ has said it openly that there are BH members in his cabinet, the DSS has undoubtedly furnished him with names of powerful individuals who finance these terrorists especially within the corridors of power both at state and federal levels, there are ex governors who have been fingered too, we as a people should rise up tell our president to ARREST these individuals, freeze their accounts/assets worldwide and prosecute them.

PEACE
