What do you mean by "still the same excuses"? if you are on Quora, you will understand what Engineering entails...i have stopped engaging in arguments,in as much as I personally develop my myself Engineering wise doesn't make me play the blame game on those who are not doing well in their first degrees...Bro,you need to understand how these things work.
wirinet: How your response here relates to my post you quoted beats me. Are you sure you are responding to my post or mistakingly responding to someone else's post?
bro,go and develop yourself than blaming school system,Nigeria is not alone in this...even the so called Whites, are suffering the same thing.Bottom line is:We are Lazy
wirinet: Still the same excuses. How is the government making it hard for engineering to thrive? You mean, you design and engineering solution to one of the numerous engineering challenge we have in Nigeria and the government banned you? I had a friend who dropped out of year one from elect/elect department in Ife and started building LED signage. He took his product to Alaba to demonstrate to guys selling such imported items. He started getting orders. I borrowed him money to start business. He did very well and now he is out of the country. This was far back in early 2000s, when Internet was still a novelty in Nigeria. There are many companies with numerous engineering challenges and nobody to solve them. They have to import engineers from outside Nigeria to help repair and service their industrial equipments.
Dothraki: Engineering undergraduates study old theories from Way past generation, that is of little relevance to modern engineering. The university system teach so many calculation, and almost nothing on how to apply these mathematics to solve real life problems.
Many of theories learned aren't useless jargon, since we arent taught how to praticalise most of those knowledge, 99.99% of all engineering graduate would have forgotten what they learned by the time they graduate. We only remember what is useful to us, what help us get through, or things we do constantly. Everything else, our brain trashes it.
Its quiet disturbing Most of the engineering student only read to pass. Which makes one question, are we in school only to pass some paper? If so, modern technology would not have existed at all. Our primary purpose of studying engineering is to apply scientific discoveries to solve practical problems in the society. But unfortunately the system only made us to study only for grade. Without practicing what we learn our brain will eventually discard everything as useless
An average engineering graduate does not remember 90% of what he learned in five years, I tried to go through some of my jottings from 300l, i was suprised because it all seem strange to me.. i couldn't remember a thing from the calculations l did with my own hand. A friend of my who have have a very much good grade have the same experience.
Apart from the abstractions of studying engineering in nigeria, most of the curriculum is old, we spent so much time studying theories that should be thought as a mere history. No wonder there havent been any groundbreaking engineering achievement from Nigerian universities
Majority of the engineering jobs that involve applying engineering maneuver will be given to foreigners. Innoson motor employs foreigners to do All of its engineering design, our Nigerian graduate work as if they are mere technician. Engineering graduate will never apply most of the theories they learn at school. lot of our graduate who are lucky to find job in engineering companies work as a maintenance engineer. Whenever they need new designs or innovation, they hire foreigners to do the job, this is quite sad in my opinion. They have made mockery of 5 years of lifes. Quite sad
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is really an introduction to Engineering. Real Engineering begin from Masters...Please note that Engineering is theory based worldwide and because Nigeria is messed up already. Everybody is playing the blame game. I have seen so many Nigerian Electrical Engineers who design Electrical Panels but the problem is the GOVERNMENT.The government has made it to so hard for Engineering to thrive, I bet you we have good Engineers but Nigeria is a problem. other countries in the world are also suffering the same
MariaLavina: Yea agreed. But it is quite foolish for a lady to say yes to a guy as soon he asks her out. A sensible lady would want to know who the guy really is, if he worth dating and so on. Believe me, not all ladies play hard to get. Some want time to get to know who the guy is , what he really wants before hitting it off. But you guys get it all mixed up What I find quiet funny about this whole thing is, as much as you all try to argue against this playing hard of a thing, you also call those ladies who play it easy to get cheap.
i don't argue how foolish it is for a girl to say yes once a guy asks her out but the truth is,virtually all girls can't differentiate between good guy and bad guy. it bleeds to know that girls are too confused when making decisions...
MariaLavina: You and I both know how persistent a man is when he truly wants something. Men act this way when they are in doubt, just want to play or if the chase isn't worth it.
Some guys don't want meaningful and valuable pants ( they come with lots of baggage) so boys only want to play.
did you know Murphy's law?;it states that what will go wrong ,will go wrong eventually. No matter how much time a guy invests in wooing you, Murphy's law will always be there
BiafraBushBoy: When it comes to planning, strategy, and tactics, only one board has all these in one – and that is Chess!
Chess players are considered intelligent and strategic, which has made the game one of the most difficult board games ever. It has been used as a stimulant for great warriors who went to war when it comes to planning war strategies.
We all know that life is warfare, and there is so much we can learn when it comes to playing chess.
At the end of this post, two things will happen;
- You will want to learn chess
- You will learn to apply some chess rules to your everyday life.
I started playing chess a few years ago, and it has really affected the way I lived my life – most likely positively.
Still thinking about what could be the life lessons to learn from playing chess?
5 Secret Life Lesson to Learn from Playing Chess
Playing chess is fun, but there are one or two lessons you can learn from it. What are they?
1.You learn the basics before playing
You can’t win a chess game without learning the basic moves. To be able to even win a chess game, you must understand how chess is played and other simple moves.
What this means
Skill acquisition is very necessary for life. Especially as a Nigerian, without skill, you are as good as finished – unless you have the connections.
In this last post, I listed out some simple skills that can make you so much money. Thanks, goodness that lots of people responded, and they are getting trained already. It isn’t too late to acquire any of those skills and start your journey towards financial freedom.
2. You develop yourself before Advancing
In chess, you have to develop your minor pieces before you advance. Development means taking control of the center of the board. In most cases, whoever takes control of the board center has a higher chance of winning the game;
What this means
Personal development is important in helping you succeed in life. You must develop yourself in your key areas before you are able to move forward in life.
Skill acquisition is also one of the ways to develop your life. The more skills you have like;
Soft skills (Analytical thinking, ability to work under pressure, Oratory, etc)
Hard Skills (Graphics Design, Web App Dev, Mobile App Dev, etc)
All of these will position you to advance far in life without obstacles.
3. Learn to Exchange sometimes
In the game of chess, at some point, you have to exchange pieces just to move the game forward. This is usually set up by those who feel they are in a stronger position.
What this means
You can’t have everything in life. Sometimes you need to use what you have to get what you don’t have. It musn’t be in a bad way only, there are other ways to make exchanges that isn’t immoral. As long as it favors you, go ahead with the exchange.
Think of when buying someone’s idea or investing in an already existing business. Always use what you have to get what you don’t have!
4. Always protect your assets
Your most valuable piece on the board is your king. For safety, the king is hidden in a move called “Castling”. This will help protect the king from danger.
What this means
Identify your valuable assets and never lose them. They might be the skills you’ve acquired, your money, or knowledge.
No matter what happens, always protect those assets that are valuable to you. Never lose them for anything.
5. Think before you leap
Aside from the opening stages, it takes an average of 1 minute or more for a chess player to figure out the next step to take. This helps to curb failure and improve chances of winning.
What this means
How many times have you sat down to think about the possible outcome of any move you decide to make in life. Critical reasoning breeds success, and that is one of the foundations of success in life.
Bonus
Keep fighting till the end
As long as the king isn’t checkmated yet, you haven’t lost. Keep looking for escape routes to force a draw.
What it means
It simply means don’t give up till you can no longer breath. As long as there is life, there is HOPE.
Thank you so many guys; If you are interested in learning a skill that can help you achieve so much in life in terms of finances, I have a recommendation for you.

Martinez39: When we are born, our minds are at tabula rasa. What we know depends on our environment, experiences, exposure and, where possible, the indoctrination our society has given us. Reality is such that no matter what we believe, it doesn't change and it doesn't care about our feelings. Given that many grew up believing the wrong things and are still believing these things, I find it important to set things straight. It might be that many are sensible but still not aware of certain things. Without wasting your time, here are hard facts about life.
1) THERE IS NO GOD AND YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN : a lot might not agree but I challenge you to show me any evidence that god exists. Your life struggle is yours to bear and no god is coming to help you out. No matter how much you pray, what god you believe in and how morally upright you are, nature will always take it's course and if you don't do the right thing, you won't get the right result. Religion, psychic stuffs and other spiritual stuffs are ridiculous falsehoods with no sound basis in reality. Do away with them and start facing reality.
2) THERE IS NO AFTERLIFE : once you die, that's it. Your cease existing forever after you die and there is no coming back. So do all you want now that you are alive. This world is all there is, there is no spiritual/unseen world. This is where you succeed, this is where you fail. If you don't make it here, forget it and there is no second chance. This is where you are happy, this where you are sad. Once time has passed, it can never be regained.
3) PEOPLE HAVE THEIR PRICE : people are not moral. With the right amount of money and desperation, people will do immoral and mean things. For many, morality is only when it's convenient. Learn not to trust anyone for even your enemies may smile a lot. Money reveals people's true colour. When it comes to money, people are not to be trusted and are mean spirited opportunists. When you have money, people (men and women) will gather round you. They don't give a damn about you but your money. Learn to say "no," spend your money on yourself and leave the rest for your children.
4) SUCCESS IS NEVER GUARANTEED UNTIL IT IS ACHIEVED : that boy or girl that looked almost certain to succeed might end up turning out to be a "failure" in future. That boy or girl that was looked down upon might be the highest achiever in future. No one, I repeat no one, can know the future. You might do everything right and die before you reap the fruit of your labour. You might suddenly have an accident or disease that would render you useless no matter how bright you were. You might be lucky to make it. There is nothing like a way to make it in life instead all you have are principles that increases your chances at making it in life but chances are what they are and are not certainty. Until it is achieved, success is not guaranteed.
5) LIFE ON EARTH HAS NO PURPOSE : you exist for no reason. The universe doesn't owe you any meaning to your existence. The meaning your life has is the meaning you give to it. There is nothing like destiny and fate. Your life is how you plan it.
6) NOT EVERYONE WILL MAKE IT IN LIFE : we all know this but still like to act like success is our birthright because we think our life is in the hands of an imaginary god. Even if we all work hard, not all of us will make it and you could be among those that don't make it. Even among those that succeed, there will be variation. Some will make it early while some will make it late. Some will be privileged to be born in a successful family while some will be born in poor families.
7) YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL : that HIV you hear about can happen to you. That cancer you hear about can happen to you. That rape you read about in the news can happen to you. That ghastly accident you read on nairaland, newspaper and see on tv can happen to you. In short anything bad can happen to you. That untimely death you see and hear from wherever can happen to you. Who the hell are you to think that you are immune to these things?
THE UNIVERSE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT MORALITY. ALL IS CAUSE AND EFFECT : good things happen to bad people; good things happen to good people; bad things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Do the right thing and you will get the right result. It doesn't matter whether your approach is legal or not (legality and illegality are man's construct), apply the rules and you will get the right results. Cause and effect agrees with the strong overcoming the weak that's why your corrupt and powerful politician can unduly put you in jail and you will rot there no matter how morally upright you are. Your saving grace is if there is a more powerful force to save you and keep him in check. The universe cares about rules and facts not morality and your constitution.
9) INJUSTICE, NO KARMA AND WICKEDNESS : The universe doesn't care about your wellbeing and disputes. That guy that raped you might never be caught and would go on to marry and be happy till he dies while you struggle to make a living. That rich guy that snatched your girlfriend or the girlfriend that cruelly snubbed you and went for a rich man might end up building a happy marriage and home while you keep on struggling. Justice is man's duty to uphold. That man that stole all your money might invest it and be successful while you rot away; that man or woman that stole your idea might use it to make billions while you rot away into oblivion and poverty; that fake friend that cruelly snubbed you during your hard time might live a life of fulfilment while you rot away in misery; that cultist that shot your sister might never be found and may go on to live a successful and happy life. There is nothing like karma, if man doesn't seek justice then justice will never be implemented. Sorry for you if you think god will avenge your hurt and fight your battles. Sorry for you if the person you want to bring justice upon is very powerful. Take heart, it's life.
Functions are blocks of code that are designed to do one specific job If you need to perform that task multiple times throughout your program, you don't need to type all the code for the same task again and again You just call the function dedicated to handling that task, and the call tells python to run the code inside the function

Startup00: Good evening gurus in the house. I do not intend to bore you with long talks. I started programming lessons mid last year December but currently have started loosing interest due to some reasons. A friend of mine gave me materials on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and Php. The learning processs was to start with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Have been able to write HTML and CSS codes and even use Bootstrap frame work. Started learning JavaScript and for two weeks have always closed my laptop after few minutes. It's sounds boring to me, pls I need help on how I can learn this effectively. Thanks.
Bro you are not alone...i was like you few months ago until I met a white man who is learning HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT at 50years old.i then ,decided to sit up
Talkwisdom: I have built a Bluetooth controlled android app basically for home automation .it is password protected. It opens to a control interface when correct password is entered by the user.
These are the app interface It interacts with microcontroller and Bluetooth module to control devices ..it is tested and in use presently.
I am working on motion detection app, where a user gets notification and also capture a view of an intruder that passed through spy cameras mounted at home.. This should work anywhere the user is...to be completed year end.
Vince77: Please mention me when that app is ready for use.
