for the judge to do that, the plaintiff or defendant will need to make a demand by citing such individual or body as significant part of the case. I don't think any of the parties did such, so they are both such with their proofs and defense, therefore deemed it not important to make such request.

From my understanding, the Judge refused to backtrack on the issuance of certificate of return and not the stay of execution which he will later rule on 7th July, 2016

The legal team of the Governor messed up this case - what they should have done at the trial stage of this case they are just doing now. For argument sake let us even assume without conceding that the state Board of internal revenue was not invited to state it's own side of the story - What effort did they make to get them testify as to help their case or tender this statement that was just issued as evidence in court? Even if they tried and the court refused them why didn't they order the Board to release this statement since or at least before the judgment was given? Now they waited till this morning which to me is an after thought.

Like some said here and which I totally agree with - the court cannot help a party in suit to prosecute it's case, it will only give judgment based on the facts presented before it and the question I have for you Ikpeazu supporters is - WHAT FACTS DID THEY PRESENT IN COURT cos it seems to me the legal team of the Governor just woke up from sleep.

The problem with people like you is that you dont understand how the court works and still, you openly display your ignorance to the entire world. Why should the court subpoena the state internal revenue service when neither the prosecuting nor the defence team listed them as a witness? When you have a case to prosecute or defend in court, you call as many witness as possible to help your case. It is not the duty of the court to help you come up with witnesses to defend your case, that is the duty of your legal team.

Any statement from Ikeazu's legal team is immaterial as far as the authenticity of the said document is, from Legal point of view.

The authenticity of a passport, receipt or any legal document can only be ascertained from the issuing authority under oath and cross examination.

If the Abia State IRS wasn't invited then the judgement is miscarriage of justice since it never originated from Ikpeazu.

If I present a WASC Certificate to UNILAG, I can't be expected to come and prove the genuineness of the document without consulting WASC Board to authenticate their certificate through records.

Ikpeazu should respect himself and vacate the office because before the law right now he's an imposter. Uche is the governor recognised by the constitution and anyone who conducts government business with Ikpeazu does so at the own risk.

Ikpeazu should go pursue his case in court but while he does so, government activities can't be suspended. The position isn't an inheritance.

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode has announced that the laws on Street Trading in Lagos State will be strictly enforced from today, July 1, 2016..


Ambode said this while on Television continental, TVC. Lagos this morning.

The governor said both Seller and Buyer are equally guilty and the penalty is N90,000 or 6 months imprisonment or both.

The Governor, while sympathising with the family of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck while trying to evade arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline along Maryland Bus stop on Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the destruction of public assets.

“It is not in our DNA to allow someone to just die by road accident or the way it happened in respect of the incident. But beyond the fact that we lost one person while crossing the road as a result of evading arrest by KAI officials, I need to tell Lagosians that over 49 buses were actually destroyed and it is costing us like almost N139m to put those buses back on the road,” he said.

Consequently, Governor Ambode said the State Executive Council has resolved to enforce the Law, which according to him makes both the hawker and the buyer liable of the offence.

The absence of the Abia Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzoukwu, has stalled the expected inauguration of Samson Ogah as the new governor of the state.


The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had earlier on Thursday, issued Ogah a Certificate of Return, thus withdrawing the one that earlier by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and paved the way for the swearing of Mr. Ogah.

INEC said its action was in compliance with an Abuja Federal High Court judgment ordering Ikpeazu to immediately vacate office.


In his ruling, Justice Okon Abang had on Monday made a consequential order ordering Ikpeazu to vacate office‎ as Abia Governor based on the revelations that he did not pay his tax for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013, as at when due when he was a public officer.

However, the inauguration could not take place because it was learnt that the state chief judge, who was supposed to have performed the function, was nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, Ikpeazu has obtained an ex parte injunction issued by Justice Chibuzor Ahuchaogu of the state High Court, Osisioma, restraining the chief judge from swearing in Ogah.

Ikpeazu had in a statement he signed insisted that he remained the governor of the state, appealing to the people of the state to remain calm.
Based on this, Ikpeazu declared Friday and Monday next week as public holidays in honour of the former Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, a prominent Abia son, who died in Abuja on Wednesday.

1. Umaru Fintiri - A Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of a former Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, in Kuje prison, Abuja, over five counts of money laundering charges involving about N1.9bn preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

2. Sambo Dasuki: The former National Security Adviser is on a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N13bn. Mr. Dasuki allegedly distributed billions of naira meant for arms purchase for the fight against the insurgent Boko Haram group, to politicians, his cronies and family members.


3. Olisah Metuh: Metuh is the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Metuh is charged with breach of public trust, corrupt acquisition of public funds and money laundering. EFCC accused Metuh of receiving the N400m from “an unlawful activity” of the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Mohammed Sambo Dasuki.

4. Olusola Amosu: Air Marshal Amosu (rtd) is the immediate past Chief of Air Staff. He is embroiled in the ongoing probe of the $2.1 billion arms procurement fund. Amosu is accused of engaging in acts that were not only “misleading and unpatriotic” but of shortchanging the country in procurement deals for attack helicopters and other equipment for the Nigerian Air Force.

5. Femi Fani Kayode: A Federal High Court ordered the remand of a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode over an alleged fraud of N4.6bn. Fani-Kayode, who was the spokesperson for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation in the 2015 general election, was accused of conspiring with the others to directly and indirectly retain various sums which the EFCC claimed they ought to have reasonably known were proceeds of them.

6. Alex Badeh: A Federal High Court judge in Abuja sent former Nigerian Chief of Defense Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd) to Kuje prison. Mr. Badeh was arraigned in court for corruptly enriching himself with Nigerian Airforce defense funds to the tune of N4 billion. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) claimed they found over 1 million dollars in hidden safes during a search at the home of the former air force general.


7. Abba Moro: Abba Moro is the former Minister of Interior. Moro is currently facing trial over their alleged complicity in a N676 million job recruitment scam. He is answering to an 11-count charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

8. Uche Secondus: The Deputy National Chairman of the PDP allegedly received 25 exotic cars worth over N300million which the embattled promoter of Atlantic Energy Concepts Limited, Jide Omokore, allegedly bought for top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party. Prince Secondus received the cars for onward distribution to other beneficiaries. Secondus was arrested in his Abuja home.

9. Raymond Dokpesi: The AIT Boss, alongside his company, DAAR Investment and Holdings was araigned to the six-count charge bordering on alleged procurement fraud and breach of public trust preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

10. Lawal Isa Jafaru: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently arrested Jafaru, who is a former military governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress. Jafaru is President Mohammadu Buhari's political associate. The retired soldier is believed to have been arrested for receiving over 100 million frrom National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

11. Olusola Oguntoyinbo: – Air Vice Marshal Olutayo Oguntoyinbo was remanded in Kuje prison following his arraignment before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory. Oguntoyinbo, who is a former chief of training and operations of the air force, was accused of receiving the bribe from a contractor with the NAF
