Celebrities / Maryam Elisha Has Best Revenge After Nike Oshinowo Dumps Her At Miss Nigeria!!! by TamiOkoroDedeh(f): 2:48pm On Apr 22, 2022
Did you know fashion designer Maryam Elisha tried out for Miss Nigeria twice? In 2010 Nike Oshinowo, then the Miss Nigeria pageant director, dismissed Elisha after the latter revealed she was a university student who also dabbled in fashion designing. This revelation led to Oshinowo accusing the young hopeful of concealing further information regarding her life whilst concluding Elisha already lived a perfect life, and therefore didn't need Miss Nigeria. Is that unfair or what?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdnmC1rZrQo

And years later, the Miss Nigeria Organisation begged the award-winning designer to sponsor the latest edition of their pageant. They have some heavy nerve. Oh, and did I mention that Elisha has served as style consultant for MBGN, Miss Nigeria's biggest rivals? Ha ha.

Remember - Success is the best form of revenge.

I remember Tyna Onwudiwe more from her days as co-presenter of Kessingsheen Hit Show (1986 or thereabout). The commercial from AJ Seward, the makers of Kessignsheen hair shampoo and sponsors of the show, stuck in my head: "good secretaries are hard to find, I think I"ll keep mine. Thank you Kessingsheen".

The days of the Jerry Curl hairdos. Can't believe 30 years have flown by just like that.

AJ Seward did not make Kessingsheen, that was a different company altogether. As for the ad, I think you mean this

Op point of correction ..

U are mixing things up..

It ain't easy though cos it's been a long time..

Funtimes is different from Lolly

Funtimes was published by daily times Nigeria and it featured the story of Benbella a detective that solves crimes if I remember well .. the middle section of the magazine has this woman would have been master of epic replies ..

She always epic response to every situation ..

Someone should help me with her name ..

Lolly has Dauda the sexy guy as it's lead character whose name was later changed to Nackson.

He screwing prowess was beyond imagination ..

I can remember the episode Fela challenged him ..lol

Ikebe super which is published by Wale Adenuga had characters like Papa ajasco, boy alinco, Bobo ajasco , miss pepeye, etc

Wale Adenuga also published super story at that time before it metamorphosed into TV series

Lastly binta which too evolved to TV series.

Thank goodness someone here knows what they're talking about. Fun Times was indeed published by Daily Times and didn't include Dauda or Papa Ajasco as characters. Instead there was this old guy Pa Johnson who never minded his business and always had an opinion; for some reason they changed him for a gossip lady called gbebele (Not sure of the spelling). Apart from him and Benbella there another character called Lulu, a total loser.
Politics / Re: Bianca Ojukwu As The Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria In 1988 (Throwback Photos) by TamiOkoroDedeh(f): 7:24am On Feb 19, 2021
Ndipe:
That Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 1988 pageant that Bianca won was rigged in her favor. Regina Askia was supposed to have won the contest. She was the audience favorite, the favorite of the journalists who covered the event and even the visiting delegate from Curacao, Joan Maynard, who was the reigning Miss Intercontinental at that time (she crowned Bianca three months later) had told journalists (prior to the contest) that Regina Askia stood head and shoulders over the rest of the contestants. The audience booed and protested at the verdict of the judges when she was crowned instead of Regina. When confronted by journalists, one of the judges, Linda Ikpeazu gave a silly excuse that Bianca was crowned because of her lighskinned complexion. Look at the pictures again, you will see Regina was way finer than Bianca.

I don't know if the pageant was rigged in her favour, but Bianca definitely won because she's light-skinned.
Celebrities / Re: Dan Foster: New York Times Pays Tribute To Late Radio Personality by TamiOkoroDedeh(f): 6:15pm On Jun 27, 2020
I was already a fan of Cool FM when I first tuned in 1999. Mark Silvia, another American, handled the Good Morning Nigeria Show and he wasn't bad, but I also loved Dare, then a Music student at UniLag. I can still remember the very first time I heard Dan Foster. I wondered why Mark's voice had changed until I realised it wasn't Mark. Something drew me to this boisterous American, and before long I became a huge fan. Listening to the GMN Show became a ritual I never missed, and my father nearly banned me from listening to him, but to me Dan was king. Nigerian radio didn't know what had hit it, but boy, were we ready.

This wasn't the first time an American accent mesmerised us on air - IBC FM Owerri gave us Paulina Anyanwu in the 80's - but how many media personalities inspired their audience? He always had a story to tell, and most were funny, especially his encounter with Japanese prostitutes as a US Marine, or the relationship with his father back in Washington. Before long I developed a serious crush on him, but stoppef listening when I discovered he'd already found a girlfriend.

I left Nigeria in 2003 but continued to follow his progress. He became a judge on West African Idols and Nigeria's Got Talent, and even had planned to open his own radio station, but that was never to be. Dan inspired a new breed of Nigerian OAPs, thus expanding the media industry, but most importantly he was one of us. He believed in this country more than the average Nigerian did, and he stayed with us despite the circumstances we faced as a nation. Yes, he was no angel (Three girlfriends in different parts of the country?), but he had a beautiful family when he eventually settled down, and my heart breaks for those children he left behind.

Thank you for everything Dan, and rest in peace. We shall never forget you.

As an Abian living in Aba, I will say that Okezie Ikpeazu since he came in power in 2015 has been working on Roads. But the problem is that he constructs inferior roads.

I also recently noticed that Environmental sanitation has been improved. But the problem is that he shouldn't have opened disposal of dirt into Bakassi dump as it is causing strong Air pollution.

Lastly, op that is not Osisioma junction. That is ASA Road. Osisioma has already been occupied by a Center Table fly over

The worst is Port Harcourt road

For quite some time, I have observed the disappearance of Afrocandy and Maheeda from the entertainment space giving more time for new celebs to spring up and display their God given talents.

Does it means that time is no longer reckoning with the duo despite rapid growth the entertainment/showbiz world is experiencing.

Or is it the handiwork of God for the protection of younger generations?

Afrocandy was recently verified by a porn website, and now makes her own pay-per-view porn videos. Not fake sex like the one in her 'movie', but REAL hardcore pornography. I saw a clip of her completely n-a-k-e-d on her bed and stimulating herself with a intimacy gadget...

Crime / Re: History The Story Of Otokoto Money Ritual Killing Of 1996 In Owerri, Imo State by TamiOkoroDedeh(f): 9:54am On Dec 04, 2019
saintkeppy:
MO₦€¥ Rituals was very popular & common in the '90s, 1st time I saw a headless body of a lady dumped by the street, that gave me sleepless nites for about 2weeks or more as a lil boy growing up then, it makes me wonder how wicked &heartless a fellow human can be to another.

Imagine 11-year old &struggling innocent boy gone! Just because of quick money via Rituals.
Infact, it was this Okotoko Story the reason why many Nollywood Movies then was themed 'BLOOD MONEY', RITUALS, EVIL MEN etc just to educate, conscientize people about the dangers of indulging in such practices, that the end thereof is not always smooth&juicy, cos what will it profit a man to engage in such evil, Cruel &inhumane practises, gain money, wealth, live extravagant life, can't even sleep well @nite, then die Mysteriously without living long to enjoy the money, lose his own soul. #STUPIDITY

It's better I hustle as my strength permits, then God blesses, live in peace, sleep well, I mean sound sleep&wake up@anytime, enjoy my hard-earned money with joy cos the Blessings of the Lord maketh me RICH &added no single Sorrow. Prob. 10:22
#EASYLIFE

I was in Owerri when that poor kid's head was shown on IBC TV, and later one of my uncles was part of the mob that burned down buildings belonging to ritualists. Only a few months prior, my aunt had taken me shopping at Piano Plaza, one of the buildings torched during the riots. I was later told I was lucky I hadn't gone upstairs, or I would have been beheaded.

Everything you said about the boy is true; imagine what he could have become if he was still alive today, but those greedy Otokoto bastards denied his family that chance. May they rot in hell.

Life is the greatest inspiration. About 70% of my characters are based on real people, and the storylines are also taken from reality (I got the idea for The Other Woman's Wedding years ago when a listener called a late-night radio host crying over her failed relationship with a married man). I find myself asking what I would do in their situation, or how would others react. Most times I carry out intensive research for accuracy, and every so often I visit my local museum, asking myself if there's another story behind the picture. I may even listen to song lyrics to get into the character's mind. When I finally put words to paper, I take into account every emotion the character feels, but I take it a step futher by revealing their innermost thoughts, the emotions/words you never actually see/feel in real life. Then I edit. And edit. And edit...
Celebrities / Re: Kate Henshaw Shares DM From Instagram Follower Worried That She Is Not Married by TamiOkoroDedeh(f): 5:34am On Nov 26, 2019
Guys, leave her alone. She hasn't had the best luck with men - she was in an abusive relationship with a guy who used her as a punching bag, and her husband cheated on her. Even the guy she dated in the early days of her career dumped her for someone else; I remember reading about it in the papers. If a husband can cheat on a beautiful woman, what hope is there for the rest of us? Keep in mind she now has a daughter, and it wouldn't be fair if another failed relationship came into her life, especially if her daughter sees the man as a father figure. Who do you think she is, Katie Price? Has it ever occurred to you haters maybe she's tired of marriage? Most Nigerian women only get married because they want a man to support them, but she can already support herself...what's the big deal?

This is why I bloody hate Nigerians, I am ashamed of my people. Leave her alone.

Presently reading this and I must say it is quite captivating. I like how you were able to put stuff into the book that happened in the late 90's and y2k like music, fashion fad, communication etc.
It also captures clearly how a number of ladies ariu d that time were molested but did not have the courage to talk about it. And those who mustered up enough courage to do so were mostly called liars and tagged ladies of easy virtue

Well, this goes to show criticisms make us much better smiley

It's a great read. Still at the point where jide is toasting ekaette. Let me get back to my reading
Wow, thanks. In this #MeToo area where women like Timi Daloko's wife have revealed their truth, the story couldn't be more relevant. Keep reading - part 3 is going to be explosive. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks to everyone who downloaded my debut novel Bitter Perceptions. The story was inspired by an article I read years ago regarding drug-rape culture, but also contains various experiences I've encountered including unforgiveness, fair-weather friends, sex-crazy boyfriends, overbearing parents etc.

A literary blog brutally criticised my work when I published the first part of the first edition, and their scathing reviews left me devastated. I nearly deleted the manuscript and said goodbye to writing for good, but thanks to people who believed in me I rolled with it (Sorry BSB!) and got myself back up. I made a few changes to the book (Removed most of the cuss words and took out several scenes), but other than that, my work remains the same. This is my style, this is what I'll stick with, good or bad. The reviews I've received from readers since have been mostly positive, and I can't wait for what comes next. To all my fellow writers: Believe in yourself, you've got this!

To my readers: I've preserved most of the deleted scenes, and they can be found here https://thenaijabrit./2019/11/13/bitter-perceptions-deleted-scenes/?preview=true. You can also read the story behind the story https://tamiokorodedeh.com/2019/10/06/thirty-interesting-facts-about-bitter-perceptions/.

And to the blog that said my book was rubbish: What's up now, bitches? Kiss my boring ass!
