Not all Bashorun Gaa children died. Most fled to Borgu kingdom. Ojo Agunbambaru was one of the surviving sons of Basorun Gaha after the near annihilation of his entire family orchestrated by a mob for years of his extreme tyranny. Ojo escaped to the Bariba country during this uprising against his authoritarian father. Nothing was heard of him until the tumultuous times when Afonja, the Army Chief of the empire pursued his ambition for independence, with the help of the deadly Fulani servants called Jamas. For the reason that there was no more strong leadership or unity in the empire, Ojo sought to avenge his father’s killing, returning to Oyo with a large army of Bariba mercenaries archers and calvary. He was able to decimate the nobility, especially the group that had ties with Afonja, his archenemy, for his father’s support of the popular uprising against his own father. Ojo never did won any true friends, for his killing of the nobles. Many of his followers did follow to have their way with him or to watch him. He was defeated through the help of some of his own warriors who were Oyo men and he fled with his Bariba soldiers. Let Nigeria government manage Nigeria like the way the pastors manage their churches. |
Don't blame the criminal or the law enforcement agent. They are all symptoms of failure of leadership and governance at all levels. |
A couple in Cypress is being accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from an owner of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. The team's part owner Randy Frankel told police in St. Petersburg, Florida, that someone had managed to get into his assistant's AOL account in February, compromising instructions to Wells Fargo Bank to route $38,326.26 into another Wells Fargo business account. According to charging documents, the money ended up instead in the Bank of America account owned by Cypress resident Madoussou Odebode. Investigators say Madoussou claimed she met a person who said they were interested in repairing flooded cars and then selling them. She allegedly told Harris County deputies she contacted a friend who owned Brian Auto Sales, and forwarded an invoice to the interested entrepreneur for four cars. When the money was paid into her account, Madoussou allegedly claimed she paid out $30,020 for four vehicles, including two flooded Mercedes Benz and two Lexus vehicles. The Harris County District Attorney's office says however that the company Brian Auto Sales does not exist, according to charging documents. The payments allegedly went to her husband, Oluwatomiwa Odebode, instead. Surveillance camera footage from the Bank of America at 11288 Westheimer in Houston showed the couple purchasing two cashier's checks in the amounts of $19,200 and $10,800, according to the DA's office. Investigators said both checks were deposited into a Chase bank account opened by an unknown person using a fraudulent passport as identification. Lt. Gary Spurger, with Harris County Sheriff's High Tech Crime Unit, said the large scale form of email corruption that occurred in this case is known as "whaling." A whaling attack is a kind of phishing scam and CEO fraud that targets high profile executives with access to highly valuable information, according to Mimecast. The IP address of the computer that compromised the AOL email account owned by Frankel's assistant originated out of Lagos, Nigeria, investigators said. http://abc13.com/da-cypress-couple-stole-$40k-from-tampa-bay-rays-owner/2675610/ |
A Nigerian national who testified against his brother in a complex tax fraud case was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Medford to seven years for his own role in the multi-million-dollar scheme. Michael Oluwasegun Kazeem, 24, was sentenced to 84 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $4.3 million in restitution for his role in a fraudulent tax-return ring. Prosecutors said the fraud scheme, organized by his brother, caused significant financial harm to thousands of people, removed an Internal Revenue Service web page and lost six figures worth of business for an Oregon-based employment services company compromised in the scheme. Kazeem will be deported to Nigeria at the end of his sentence. Between 2012 and 2014, Kazeem filed at least 1,479 tax returns using stolen employment identification numbers, causing nearly $3.9 million in losses, many to Oregonians, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Byron Chatfield. The tax returns were filed using 13,203 accounts stolen from Lincoln City-based CICS Employment Services, a company that performs pre-employment background checks, according to Chatfield. Of those stolen accounts, 5,028 belonged to Oregonians. “This is just what we were able to come up with on the search warrants,” Chatfield told District Judge Ann Aiken. Some 10,139 fraudulent federal tax returns using thousands of unsuspecting people’s employment information were filed between 2012 and 2014 in a ring organized by Kazeem’s brother, Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, 34. He was found guilty in August of multiple wire fraud and aggravated identity theft counts and remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail, with a sentencing hearing set for March. Between the two Kazeems and four others facing federal charges, the IRS lost more than $11.6 million. Chatfield told Aiken that Michael Kazeem was “not the mastermind,” saying Emmanuel Kazeem kept the bulk of the stolen money for himself, using it to buy houses and invest in a hotel among other ventures. Michael Kazeem made enough to support himself as a chemical engineering student with his own apartment and car, but “by no means did he acquire that sort of wealth.” Although Chatfield commended Michael Kazeem for “stepping up” to testify against his brother, he noted the man had engaged in credit card fraud prior to 2012 when he lived in Nigeria, and that Kazeem had engaged in a “sham” marriage, paying a woman $500 a month to establish residency in the United States after his student visa ended. He also branched out on his own fraud scheme after Emmanuel Kazeem was caught. The owner of CICS said he lost $420,000 worth of business, and the thefts also took a personal toll as he handled hundreds of calls from distressed victims, many with limited means, according to Chatfield. Michael Kazeem apologized in sometimes broken English to his victims. “I’m deeply and emotionally sorry for the trouble I caused,” Michael Kazeem said. “What I did was wrong.” http://www.mailtribune.com/news/20171108/tax-fraud-scheme-leads-to-prison |

Ironsi f'ked up. big time. He had the opportunity to address minority issues. Ironsi should have punished the coupist. Then Ironsi should have created 3 New regions in the North. Possibly add Ilorin and Kabba province to the western region. That way he would have compensated the western region for the the loss of the Midwest region. In the same vain, the minority agitations in the north would have been assuaged by creating 2 new states for the northern minorities. That way He would have positioned himself favorably. Each regional governor would be protected by Soldiers from that particular region. |
