PoliticsRe: "Nobody Can Stop Us From Moving Our Cattle Around Nigeria"-fulani Herdsmen Warns by tarano: 4:07am On Mar 27, 2016
We need to go back to our roots. Our ancestors were hunters. Example Just saw this exhibition. Very interesting.

The Nagô Hunters of the Bantè Kingdom, established in the fourteenth century, form a brotherhood of hunters, placed under the authority of a traditional King. The Kingdom is located in the heart of Benin republic, in the Bantè forest, the Collines Department. The 27 villages of the Kingdom comprise Chiefs Hunters. At the expense of hunting great game, now abandoned, the Hunters have become the essential players in the conservation of their environment, through defending the Bantè Forest on one hand and through protecting their cultural heritage on the other. Guardians of a rich tradition intimately linked with the forest, the Nagô Hunters notably conserve an exceptional knowledge of treatments based on the use of medicinal plants.

We need to know our forests like the way these hunters know their forest. No Fulani can displace them. It is only in Nigeria that Fulani herders have so much protection. They do not try all this problem in Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Mali.

The situation is better illustrated by Martin Niemoller who made these popular proclaimation,

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Ibi is a town and administrative district in Taraba State, Nigeria. The town is located on the south bank of the Benue River, opposite the influx of the much smaller Shemankar River. Both the Taraba River and the Donga River flow into the Benue within the LGA.

Ibi is one of the sixteen local government areas of Taraba State, and is governed by an elected chairman.

Cotton was one of the major crops of the area, steam powered cotton gins were established in Ibi in the early 1920s.[4]

The Nwonyo fishing festival is one of the major festivities in the area.

Our laws need to be more punitive when it comes to crime period. We're a developing country. Our laws should reflect that. If you compare our criminal code with countries in Asia that are doing well, you will laugh. You better not steal public funds in China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam. BusinessIranian Oil Likely To Push Prices Lower by tarano(op):
When it comes to oil, the question becomes how low can prices go.

And with Iran back as a full player in world oil markets, the previously unthinkable — sub-$20-a-barrel crude — is looking more possible.

Iran's oil ministers say they intend to boost their oil production and ship 500,000 barrels a day initially, now that sanctions have been lifted in light of nuclear inspections deal, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported. Iran's goal is 2 million barrels a day.

Those levels alone are big enough to further depress the price of oil, especially since Saudi Arabia has refused to cut its production levels.

The result could lead to oil prices in the mid-$20s a barrel, and with occasional bouts of panic selling, briefly dip into the teens, said Tom Kloza, chief global analyst for the Oil Price Information Service.

Oil already plunged past one key threshold last week, falling past $30 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate, the benchmark U.S. crude, closed Friday at $29.42, down $1.78 for the day. Brent crude, an international benchmark, closed at $28.94, down $1.94. The low oil prices are reflected in the price of gasoline, which dipped Sunday to $1.90 a gallon nationally, down almost 7 cents in a week, according to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report.

"The expectation is we're going to plumb new lows. Every oil investor and trader worth his salt has anticipated it," Kloza said.

Even though Iran was under sanctions, it was able to sell limited amounts of oil to a few select countries — China, India and a few other Asian nations. Now, it faces no limitations. Plus, Iran is able to produce oil at lower overall "lifting costs" than many other nations, as little as $10 a barrel. Even when oil prices are absurdly low, it is one of the countries that can still make money.

That puts American producers at a huge disadvantage, pushing many out of the market.

Iran, Saudi Arabia and other big producers within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries are "playing a longer game than our poor guys can play," said Ed Hirs, an economist at the University of Houston. "We need to step back and take a long perspective on this."

The long perspective is that Iran lacks the kind of oil technology and infrastructure that has led to the resurgence of the industry in the U.S. Some think that after an initial surge, Iran won't be able to sustain high levels of exports.

"The likely increases in Iranian exports should not be a game changer," wrote Julian Jessop of Capital Economics in a note in to clients. Even with a surge of exports, there isn't much storage capacity or demand left in the world for the excess oil, he said.

"We do not believe that Iran would want to depress prices much further by rushing to dump its inventories," Jessop said.

Kloza said the oil market is all about the short run at the moment.

"These oil prices are not sustainable in the long term, but anything goes in the next 40 days," he said.

PoliticsA Long Forgotten Project "Ikere Gorge Dam" by tarano(op): 8:09pm On Jan 05, 2016
The Ikere Gorge Dam is a major earth-fill dam in Iseyin local government area of Oyo State in the south west of Nigeria on the Ogun River. Reservoir capacity is 690 million m3.[1] The dam was initiated by the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo and started in 1983 by the administration of Shehu Shagari. The dam was planned to generate 3750 MW of electricity, to supply water to local communities and to Lagos and to irrigate 12,000 hectares of land. Built in 1982/1983, work on the dam was abandoned by subsequent military governments.[2] A report for the UN in 2004 said that no irrigation had taken place so far, but efforts were being made to implement one of the five planned irrigation projects. The project was based on the sprinkler system which is difficult to manage and requires that the farmers be trained.[3]

CrimeThree Arrested In Fraud Scheme With Ties To Violent Nigerian Group: Police by tarano(op): 12:02am On Dec 27, 2015
TORONTO – Three people have been arrested in connection with what police are calling an international fraud and money-laundering scheme allegedly run by a secretive, violent Nigerian organization with affiliates around the world.

Police say one of the alleged victims of the scheme is a 63-year-old Toronto woman who was defrauded of $609,000 over the course of three months in 2014.

Toronto police Det. Const. Mike Kelly says the woman was contacted though a dating website, a relationship followed and she began handing over money when asked for financial help.

He says the woman has been devastated and “economically ruined.”

Police say two men and one woman have been arrested in connection with the scheme — one of the men is the alleged bookkeeper of the Canadian faction of the , or Neo-Black Movement of Africa.

Ikechukwu Amadi, 34, of Mississauga, Ont., Lineo Molefe, 31, and Akohomen Ighedoise, 41 — both from Toronto — have been charged with laundering the proceeds of crime and fraud over $5,000. Ighedoise is also charged with participating in a criminal organization.

Police say they believe there may be other victims.

CrimeMan Gets 20 Years For Ripping Off Elderly In Scam by tarano(op): 11:51pm On Dec 26, 2015
A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his part in a scam in which thousands of dollars were stolen from the elderly.

Joseph Dada Akintoye, 34, of Nigeria, was convicted Wednesday in Cobb County Superior Court of 15 charges, including racketeering, money laundering, theft by taking, theft by deception and exploitation of elder persons.

An international organization Akintoye belonged to called elderly people or contacted them online and convinced them to wire money into accounts he controlled, Kim Isaza, the spokeswoman for Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds, said in an emailed statement.

According to that statement, some victims were led to believe that the person calling them was a grandchild who was in jail in another state and needed the money for bail. Another victim was contacted by a man on Match.com and led to think she was helping with a foreign financial deal.

Three victims, none of them in Georgia, wired nearly $50,000 into an account held by a Marietta woman who was an associate of Akintoye, Isaza said. He told her how to launder the funds and how to shift them between various accounts.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars from other unidentified victims moved through the accounts of the Marietta woman, Isaza said. Some of the money was sent to Akintoye’s own account in Jacksonville, Fla., while most of it went to Nigeria and Malaysia.

“This is absolutely racketeering,” Cobb Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs said before sentencing Akintoye. “He’s one of the kingpins, and he should pay. He’s come in this country, and he’s used this country. He’s contributed nothing.”

The last three years of Akintoye’s sentence will be suspended if he pays $35,000 restitution within one year. He was also fined $50,000.

It is quite unfortunate that things have to degenerate to this level.

Again the Shiite, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria are not harmless as we all think. It is a religious and political organization with the aim of having an islamic republic like in Iran. The followers are always harmed with AK 47 as the move along with the procession to Husainiyya Baqiyatullah, Zaria obstructting traffic on Highways.

There are intelligence report connecting this group's to Boko Haram and other violent Islamic groups in Africa and the middle east... I.e Hezbollah

Sooner or later this was going to happen. The Nigeria army has been keeping a watchful eye on this group.
