chaircover: Fhemmmy: chaircover:Personally, I have no problems telling you the price in other shops, its not like it's a secret. In the end though, it's up to you to price things based on the amount of profit you're comfortable with after considering your costs. I think ultimately a lot of things in Nigeria are overpriced (like if not, how can a 70K dress sell for 30K- I really don't know anything about retail, but doesn't it get to a point where if the price is not overinflated to begin with, it's just not worthwhile to sell below a certain price because you'd be making a huge loss?? I dunno sha. I'm terrible at pricing and I'm sure I must get cheated all the time so I wish sellers would just be fair and reasonable with the price. I mostly shop at shops where (I assume) there's no real opportunity to price so I either have the money and am willing to spend it, or I find a cheaper alternative. But in reference to the unanswered price question, I finally, after work today, got a chance to check out some Aveeno product prices for you at a HealthPlus pharmacy. Here they are: Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Cream- N3250 Aveeno Daily Firming Moisturizing Lotion- N3250 Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (face)- N3250 Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer (face)- N3250 Aveeno Cream (100ml)- N2170 (that's the one you're selling for N1500 at your shop, so you're priced wayyyy better). Note: Knowing about how much Aveeno stuff costs abroad, the only prices I thought were even a bit fair were the 2 face moisturizers; I probably still would have to be really into Aveeno to spend that much though. Hope this helps. |
The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Reviver is overnight good skin magic in an unfortunately tiny bottle. It's my new favourite thing!

@ topic, It's because Hausa is really widely spoken across West Africa even up to Sudan (I think it's spoken in something like 7 or 8 countries total). There's a large Hausa population in Nigeria, and I think in Niger like more than half the population is Hausa, for example. The Hausa services are not just for Nigeria, they broadcast across Africa. And, although I don't think there are as many Hausa people in the other countries, because it's spoken in several countries, it makes sense for an international broadcaster to have a service in Hausa which appeals to people in more than one country. |

It's cruel right now but in the long run, it's kinder if you just tell her that you're not really ready to be in a relationship (with her) and that you guys aren't compatible anymore, and that she deserves better and someone who will really appreciate her, and you don't want to waste her time. In essence, let her know you're not interested but give (non-patronizing) encouragement. |

Pride and Prejudice- the 1995 BBC version with Colin Firth <sighs>. I know it's technically a miniseries but I always watch it as a movie and it's my favourite thing to watch! I watch it all the time. The Thomas Crown Affair (the Pierce Brosnan version) North and South (the BBC/A&E miniseries, not the American civil war film) The Count of Monte Cristo (the one with Jim Caviezel) |
I don't think in general, your Masters grade really matters UNLESS you're planning on furthering your education either with a PhD or some other Masters or certificate program or something where they might want to see transcripts in order to admit you etc. Also, some high profile recruitment firms (not naming names) DO want to see your Masters transcript especially if you don't have loads of experience AND your degree is in a field you're claiming expertise in (usually they want to examine your coursework to help them identify skills and technical ability you may not yet have a lot of job experience in). This is not the norm though, so if you sucked through your masters, though you may kind of have wasted your money, it's not the end of the world. |
Fhemmmy:I think the smaller one is the positively radiant face moisturizer and that's fairly common . . . I've even seen it in Lagos. It's the extraordinarily rare body lotion she's looking for I think. I saw it this weekend at some shady-seeming online drugstores for some ridiculous prices though. |
I've had quite a few but I've always been able to fix them or turn them into something else or make a concoction meal out of them that sometimes turns out to be nice enough to repeat in future (jollof rice pottage, anyone? ) Anyway 2 come to mind. Once when I was like 13, I baked my dad a birthday cake and then turned it over and the cake broke in half across the middle (burnt at the bottom). I ended up icing it like that and everyone got out a fork and ate the remaining half of the cake out of the pan. Another time, I dropped a container dry ground red pepper into the sauce I was making and at least half a cup was deposited into it; it was NOT manageable! In the end I turned it into a peppersoup base, and would take like a cup of it, dilute it with a lot of water and cook it with peppersoup spices. |
uwany:I've been really into Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Lotion for about 3 years now post-Aveeno, (the Made in the USA formulation is the best but the UK and SA ones can be managed). This is my #1 regular go to lotion. (It used to be everywhere but recently not so much, but I get it from Nars Supermarket in V/I). I do still use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (from HealthPlus) sometimes; it's really good, but mostly as a night lotion though. It's not as good as Vaseline Cocoa Butter at moisturizing in my opinion, so I wouldn't switch to it completely. I'm kind of also into Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion (Baume Corps Super-Hydrant) (available at any Montaigne Place), but I feel guilty buying it regularly and using it daily because it's kind of pricy and above what I think is reasonable to pay for lotion, so I don't use it all the time, but it's amazing, and if I had the money, I'd always use it. |
