leofab: stop being naive… listening to a particular playlist or track when and how you want is a flex for many.. except your car is Bluetooth enabled that you can pair your phone… many don’t have the financial fortune to get those gadgets that can enable that. You’re the one being naive, there are cables as cheap as 500 naira that you can use to connect your phone to your car stereos. |

I wish you good luck. If you have an accident, it won't bother me...and my fellow doctor who would treat you will make his kudi and go. Something you hear on the radio can distract you, so should they ban listening to the radio too? Your passenger’s actions can distract you, maybe they should ban multiple people inside cars too? |

Modrov: Well, in all the time I have done that in the FCT, no one has come to arrest me. I pull over on the side, in a safe and suitable spot, and take my call.
I also once used my phone while driving, disregarding my own rules, and nearly got into a bad accident. Be honest we’re you taking a call with a hands free device, holding your phone to your ear, or texting? |
Car Talk › Re: Motorists Driving With Earphones Risk Six Months In Jail – FRSC by tayoccu(m): 11:16am On Sep 04, 2021 |
Modrov: Then keep driving till you find a designated parking spot.
It is because you guys have not seen people involved in accidents from taking a call while driving...that's why you are busy grumbling. These rules are made for your safety.
From the usa 1. Whenever these people wanna make a quick buck, they don’t bloody care, they will cook up allegations so they can extort you. From the quote you posted notice they specified hand held phone use? Not hands free devices. The “rule” frsc are seeking to enforce isn’t even in the constitution, they’re just trying to create an avenue to extort people |

Modrov: Even then, it is still risky.
Me, if a call comes in while I am driving, I ignore. And then when I have parked, I call you back. If you complain, I tell you simply...I was on the road...and people will understand immediately. (Infact i got a call from a superior at work when I was on the road. I first found a safe place to park and then returned the call, and then explained to the senior that I was on the road...and he understood).
There are a lot of bad accidents that have happened because people are distracted by their phones. Some years ago..a man got paralysed from the neck down just because of one split minute decision to take a call while driving. Before he died reccently...he warned people not to use their phones while driving. Keep ignoring calls until the day you ignore the call that’s made to warn you of danger around your destination. |

The second paragraph of section 286 of the Nigerian Criminal Code provides:
“If the nature of the assault is such as to cause reasonable apprehension of death or grievous harm and the person using force by way of defence believes on reasonable grounds that he cannot otherwise preserve the person defended from death or grievous harm, it is lawful for him to use any such force to the assailant as is necessary for defence, even though such force may cause death or grievous harm.”
What this implies is that the accused must not be the one who initiated the encounter with the aggressor.
It also means at the time of the killing he must have believed himself to be in imminent danger of death or grievous bodily harm, such that he feared being killed if he does not act likewise.
There should also be no reasonable way to retreat or escape which might prevent both parties from getting injured or causing bodily harm to each other.
The defence of self-defence would avail any person who, acting without malice and intent to kill, kills a person who in his presence tries to kill or inflict grievous bodily harm on his child, father, mother, spouse or even on a person with whom he has no relationship. |

Gerrard59: No foreign national who got naturalised in Japan has his/her permanent resident/citizenship status revoked. Again, I reiterate, nothing of that nature will happen. Maximum will be fines but revoking citizenship? No.
@Topic: My issue with these people is the lack of strategic planning towards actualising Biafra. It is not by protesting at African embassies or writing letters. I guess a new generation of Igbos in the diaspora have to change the narrative. Every country had the right to strip anyone of citizenship, same way every individual has the right to renounce his/her citizenship. |
