Fabregas, Arshavin and Torres are not world class BUT they have the potentials to become one later in future. Cesc is not guaranteed a starting shirt for Spain so what makes him world class? Arshavin is nowhere near world class and Torres still has a lot to prove. For now, only 3 players make that elite clique and they are Kaka, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. There's no team in the world these 3 players will not start. Others are just hustling to make that grade.
dayokanu: A truly world class would start in any team in the world.
Fabregas cant even start for his national team that disqualifies him from that world class status I put it to you that Fab4, AA23 and el nino will start in the 3lions and the nazi team. if you're basing world class status on the basis of having a starting shirt in your national team, that means you guys do not regard juninho pernabucano as a world class player (@ his peak) |

I hardly get joined in arguments with Chelsea and Arsenal fans as most of them are "follow follow fans" who cannot date Chelsea beyond abramovich or know what Arsenal was before Wenger. Back to Liverpool this is a very bad start to the season. The last team to win the league losing 4 of the first nine matches is liverpool. I dare to believe but the squad is not strong. The loss of Alonso is massive and we really do not know what Aquillani will offer us. Italians cane be temperamental outside of Italy. We let Keane go and brought back Voronin, He is not a match winner. Carragher is not getting Younger and Glen Johnsons attacking ambitions have exposed Carraghers failings even more. We need to start winning and winning soon and this has to be home to Lyon in the champions League, and Manu away. The motto remains "Pride Passions Power and Glory" u"ll never walk alone"1 thing, the average arsenal fan should not be compared to a chelsea fan, the average arsenal fan has been supporting the gunners for @ least 9 years (that for me is good enough to qualify a person as a true fan),while the average chelsea fan started supporting in the "jose days". the motto should be "puny, pathetic, pitiable, and goofy" You'll Nervously Wank Alone

We should play the game fair right, but how fair was the goal Bent scored yesterday to beat Liverpool. A ball deflected from an object thrown unto the pitch, i think the referee should have disallowed that goal. What do you guys think?

Almunia returns but injury list lengthensrsène Wenger will welcome back Manuel Almunia for Saturday’s clash with Birmingham but Arsenal have fresh injury worries as they resume their Premier League campaign. Almunia has missed six games with a chest infection but could replace Vito Mannone between the posts this weekend. However Nicklas Bendtner, Gael Clichy, Carlos Vela and Eduardo will not be available and Lukasz Fabianksi will have to wait a little longer for his comeback after a minor setback in his recovery from knee surgery. “Some players are not even back yet [from international duty],” explained Wenger at his pre-match press conference. “Vela has not landed, so he will not be involved. We lost Nicklas Bendtner today in training from a recurrence of his groin. Eduardo is not back yet, because he still has a [thigh] injury.
“Fabianski is not completely back,” added Wenger. “We hope he will be very soon, because he has trained normally. Gael Clichy has a small [ankle] injury, and I leave him out completely tomorrow, but Abou Diaby should be okay. “We have a few knocks and bruises which we discovered in training when the players come back. But Almunia is back in the squad and available. Cesc Fabregas had a few personal issues but they are going better now. He is available for tomorrow. Arshavin is back and available as well.” Samir Nasri, Denilson and Johan Djourou are the three other names on Arsenal’s injury list and the Frenchman could be back in time for the North London derby at the end of October. “Nasri is not back yet; he is still two weeks from playing competitive football,” confirmed Wenger. ‘I want to bring more Englishmen through’Arsène Wenger is determined to provide more and more players for the English national side. It’s not that long ago that the Arsenal manager was accused of ‘damaging’ his adopted country by overlooking local talent. All the while, Wenger pointed to the stream of youngsters who emerged from Arsenal’s academy and forged careers at other top-flight clubs. That trend continues but now some of Arsenal’s homegrown players are breaking into the first-team at Emirates Stadium. Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere have been tipped for international honours while Theo Walcott, another Englishman at Arsenal, is a regular in Fabio Capello’s squads. Wenger will always put quality before nationality when he picks his team but the Arsenal manager would love to see more young Gunners make their mark with the Three Lions. “Very soon we could have very many [Arsenal players in the England side],” said the Frenchman. “We have Walcott, we have Gibbs, we have Wilshere who pushes on. Soon we might have some others. We have of course Aaron Ramsey, but he is British, not for England. “I am highly determined [to bring more English players through]. First we look for quality, but we have improved our quality on all sides. “We have produced many English players who have not completely made it at Arsenal. They might have made it somewhere else. “On the England fringes we had players like [David] Bentley, [Steven] Sidwell and [Matthew] Upson who is now back in the England squad. They are quality players who were here.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/gibbs-story‘Financial rule change will strengthen us’Arsenal would be the major beneficiaries if UEFA adopt proposals to bring club finances into line, according to Arsène Wenger. FIFA vice-president Jack Warner has urged European football’s governing body to “level the playing field” with regulatory action which would force clubs to live within their means instead of relying on billionaire investors. In recent years Chelsea and Manchester City, among others, have operated on a different financial level thanks to huge cash injections from their rich owners. In contrast, Arsenal have pursued a model of self-sustainability. Wenger is convinced that a change in the laws which govern club finances would leave Arsenal in a very powerful position. “We can be only stronger, because at the moment we fight with teams who do not respect that,” said the manager. “I do not know how much time it will take to get that rule in place, but we will adapt. “Whether the rule changes or not, it does not influence the way we behave. It can only influence the way some other clubs behave, who do not live completely within these rules. “But I believe we will dominate even without a change of rules.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-on-spending-rules |

Kroenke buys more Arsenal sharesArsenal director Stan Kroenke has increased his share in the London football club to 28.9%.
Mr Kroenke, the club's largest shareholder, has bought a further 90 shares, at £8,500 per share.
It takes Mr Kroenke ever closer to the 29.9% threshold that would force him to make an offer for the remaining shares.
The American tycoon, who also owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets, has been gradually increasing his stake in the football club this year. is this good or bad? |

mark lawrenson says: Birmingham cannot score on the road - mind you, they struggle to score at home too, and I don't think the takeover will have any effect on them until they can buy new players.
The fans don't much like their one-up-front policy - when good teams do this it becomes 4-3-3 when they've got the ball, but Birmingham struggle a bit to do this.
Arsenal have been breaking teams down well at home this season and I don't think they'll have a problem here.
Verdict: 3-0 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8308856.stm |

my verdict villa 3 chelsea 1 what lawro says: Lots of these players have been on international duty and though it's not such a problem physically, I think mentally some of them might be a bit tired.
Chelsea's players were scattered all over the globe and I don't think this will turn out to be a classic. For the managers, it's just about getting through these types of games.
Verdict: 1-1 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8308856.stm |

Emperoh: Really i wouldn't think this is necessary Unless the mods are tired of posting the pre-match analysis, i don't see why people should feel left out. By and large, the ultimate analysis rests with posters who come to air their views on what the final scores would be, the goal scorers, the possible hard nuts etc, which to me is where the main match analysts should come in
But asking people to volunteer to analyse weekend EPL or weekday UCL matches looks to me like duplication and an idea that will run out of steam. . . . . my idea is, open the match threads as usual, anyone who feels the thread opening analysis is not spot on or deviated from what he/she wanted, can put up his/her or 'shims' the primary aim is to get people to say what they feel about a match and also give us an indepth understanding of what is to follow.
The other thing i feel shoulda been debated on was the locking of the club threads during matches. I don't know who's idea this was and what the main reason behind it is. . . if the Mod and SuperMod can let us in the know, i would appreciate Forgive me if the reason has been said before. . . .i may have forgotten
I also feel the match thread should be integrated into their respective club threads. . . . . what will now happen is having to change the heading of the club's thread to highlight that such a match is going on and debates on this should be going on within the club thread for the match. . .i don't know how coherent or comprehensive i sound but thats just my 3 pence. . . .i will sleep over it and see if i can come up with something better. . . . as for now, this new idea doesn't really work for me. But if majority of the house wishes it to be like this, so be it!!
dear hemp, the concept behind this, is to give other people the chance of show casing their creativity (and have fun while @ it). it also allows us appreciate the kinda work the mods put in to posting the pre-match analysis, it wasn't easy putting the analysis for the arsenal match together (no wonder ~sauron~ didn't put any up during his stint as mod). |
