I had to renew my son's passport last year at the age of five.  I went to the passport office without a copy of his birth certificate and was told they needed a copy to produce the Passport.  I was told I didn't have to go back home to pick his original birth certificate.  For $16, they made me a copy of the original certificate immediately.

So I ask myself the question.  Why can't Obama produce his?  Why produce a certified copy of live birth instead of a real birth certificate?  Is there something in that certificate he does not want us to see?  Aren't you curious too?

By the way, what does it mean to be a "natural born citizen" of the US?  Did you know that McCain has American parents but his eligibility to be president was questioned because of this "natural born citizenship" you refer to? That you have American parents does not make you a "natural born citizen"!

There are many issues behind the bankruptcy stories. The bottom line however, is that he never declared bankruptcy. All his business loans were restructured and paid back.

And like you said, he is one accustomed to trials and tough times and knows ow to bounce back. I respect such people more than the many Trust Fund Babies and Husbands (Kerry for example) that are parading themselves around as big shots.

By the way, Bachmann is another person that I think will buck at Party loyalty to do what is right. The woman is fearless. Forget Pawlenty (T-Paw). He is a typical politician who is neither here nor there. You can't pin anything on him because of the malleability of his opinion and position. I like him as a person, but I think he is too much a politician than a fearless leader. At this junction in America, what we need is a bold and fearless leader who does not care what people think as he/she seeks to do the right thing.

I have no idea as to whether an iconic walking haircut with teeth can be elected to the Oval Office, but the more I think about it, the less it would surprise me. What is important is that we remember this; Barack Obama the politician was never elected to office. Barack Obama the celebrity was.

The Barack Obama with arguably the most far-left track record in the Senate and when he wasn’t voting with the radical left, he voted a mere “present” at least one hundred and twenty nine times… America didn’t know a thing about that Barack Obama. The Barack Obama who graced the covers of men’s magazines, Hollywood tabloids and was declared “vewwyy sexy” by Barbara Walters, that’s the man who leads this country. He had one thing that no other candidate had and that was his status as a pop-culture icon.

That’s his game-changer, his golden ticket and against the Donald, Barack Obama loses the only trump card he’s ever had. See what I did there?

Donald Trump takes a backseat to no one when it comes to celebrity (his fearful limo driver notwithstanding). The man was raised wealthy but he set out to garner his own fame. A larger than life character with a polarizing demeanor, everybody knows the Trumpster and they know him well. As a nine year old, I thought Donald Trump was an absolute jackass. I’d read a magazine interview in GQ where he said something to the effect of “After shaking somebody’s hand, I would never eat bread.” Was he just that arrogant, or does he have a world-class sense of humor? Twelve years later, I’m still not sure.

One thing remains unchanged; I know who Donald Trump is. Whether it’s his number one rated show on NBC (as he reiterates in every interview he’s ever had) or his list of bestselling books, Trump has created the kind of single-name recognition that few manage to cultivate. More importantly, it’s becoming more seemingly clear that Donald Trump could just be Obama’s Buster Douglas. Who's that, you ask? Well, once a legendary figure of the boxing ring, Mike Tyson ruled the fighting arena. Most importantly, "Iron Mike" struck so much fear into the hearts of his opponents that one could easily see in the staredown that they’d had lost the match before the bell had even been rung. That all changed with Douglas. Buster Douglas went into the ring with nothing to lose, and a willingness to engage that Tyson had never seen before. Buster went in and bullied the bully. The bully was baffled.

That’s Donald Trump today. Whether it’s his raising of the once taboo birth certificate issue (and turning it into a mainstream discussion while doing it), or riding roughshod over Meredith Vieria while exposing her liberal bias in the process, Donald Trump has shown a willingness to take center-ring like no other candidate in recent memory. He has no fear of the president and win, lose or draw, he’s going to get right in his punim.

Most importantly, Mr. Trump genuinely has nothing to lose. He doesn’t need the money, he doesn’t need the power and he certainly doesn’t need the fame. It seems that Donald Trump genuinely thinks the country is “going to hell” and simply doesn’t want to wait on the sidelines as it happens. Can he win? Who knows. One thing’s for sure; if Barack Obama makes this into another election that places personality over substance, celebrity over accomplishments, I can see only one outcome…Mr. President, you’re fired.

If you want to play the "what-ifs" game, are you going to apply same to the skyscrapers that were built in the same region?  Why should they build skyscrapers in the event that a magnitude 10+ earthquake is possible even though there has been none of such magnitude in history? I can assure you that if there is a 10+ magnitude earthquake, there will be no survivor to worry about the nuclear plant.  We don't design for the dead, we do so for the living!

I hold no brief for the Japanese.  All I have said and stand by is that they could have adequately designed for that plant to keep running even in the event of such an earthquake and tsunami.  The problem arose from a lack of imagination.  Perhaps you missed that point, perhaps you are suffering from selective amnesia.  Either way, you have not stopped making a fool of your self.

Experts: Loss of electricity greatest threat to U.S. nuclear plants

(CNN) -- A complete loss of electrical power at a nuclear plant, as occurred at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi facility, is the greatest potential risk to U.S. nuclear reactors, industry experts said Tuesday.

They cited hurricanes, tornadoes and ice storms as threats beyond earthquakes that could cripple a nuclear facility by cutting power needed to keep pumping water and cool nuclear fuel rods.

There is a vulnerability and we need to take steps to lessen the vulnerability in the U.S.," said David Lochbaum, Director of the Union of Concerned Scientists Nuclear Safety Program.

The leading trade group for the industry, The Nuclear Energy Institute, agreed that is the primary problem facing operators of the Daiichi plant in Japan, who are fighting to avoid a catastrophic meltdown.

"Until they restore A/C power, like they did at (Fukushima) Dainai, we'll be in the current situation," with the threat of greater release of radioactive material into the atmosphere, said NEI's Chief Nuclear Officer, Anthony Pietrangelo.

After the massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake knocked out the electrical grid powering Fukushima Daiichi, emergency diesel generators provided power for just one hour before a tsunami washed away the plant's diesel fuel tanks and flooded critical switching gear, said the NEI.

Nuclear plants in the United States are required to plan for so-called station blackouts under a Nuclear Regulatory Commission rule. Some plants in the U.S. try to protect their diesel generators by placing them underground.

If backup diesel generators fail, battery power is available as a secondary backup, though that power source will last no longer than 12 hours.

U.S. nuclear officials say they want to study the Japanese crisis carefully to glean any lessons for making power plants safer, but that such analysis is a long time away.

"We're not going to pretend we understand everything that's going in there," said Pietrangelo, urging patience before any changes are imposed on operations and licensing of facilities in the United States. "There will be plenty of time to make policy decisions going forward."

The industry says nuclear plants in the U.S. are well constructed to handle maximum anticipated seismic activity and tsunamis.
