Thanks for the response.
I love the pairing with anybody's phone without them knowing cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
lol, they have to have BB bridge app installed though once you connect the first time and set everything up, subsequent connections will be automatic. Once in range and. Bluetooth is on, you're connected no hassles

unclebros: Hello Guys

I must say a big thank you for all your messages.

Am totally sold out to get the BB PB, i presently use a bold 2 and am upgrading to Blacbery 9860 (Torch 3, I guess), can i use my 1,500 Airtel monthly BIS to browse on the PB? if yes whats the speed like? When browsing on PB via the phone, can i still make and receive calls?

thanks
yes, u can use airtel bis. Speed as fast as your phone. And while bridged with ur phone, you can use your phone as normal. My bb is off for repairs now, I just pair with anybody I see and some don't even know I'm connected coz they can use their phone as normal for whatever they like.

mikoa: Just downloaded the O.S but how can we use dis dingleberry to update d OS of a new bb playbook.
A new playbook? C'est ne pas possibles. Dingleberry requires development mode be on just like ddpb. A new playbook you cannot set development mode except you have completed the set up process. So if you want update a new playbook use any of the several methods enumerated before not dingle.

PhonesRe: Best Internet Plan For An Android Smartphone? by TCD: 7:23pm On Jun 21, 2012
Tosinng: @TCD, How will you activate BIS on Android?
nothing special. Airtel allows its bis users to tether I.e you can use your 1gb data allowance on pc, other phones or whatever. So just slot in your sim card, subscribe and use the normal airtel Internet settings.
PhonesRe: Best Internet Plan For An Android Smartphone? by TCD: 6:43pm On Jun 21, 2012
Use airtel 1Gb bis for 1200 naira. It works and it's the best for your Android.

sandraa: Read that the new 2.1 beta is mostly for developers.

please what are the new features and why is it necessary to update to 2.1 beta if am not a developer?

and please geeks can someone tell me how i can register my id on my playbook cos it keeps telling me i need wife connection.

am guessing some of u guys aint veing dis problem.

also my emails not yet working on playbook yet also cant open app world.

i use mtn bbc monthly (perhaps dats d issue am not sure)
Yes the os 2.1 beta is mainly for developers to test their apps as well as test the general functionality of the OS any problems is reported and RIM can make final changes before it's officially released to everybody.

The e functionality of the OS 2.1, the most obvious would be android applications able to run on separate windows, it brings true multitasking for Android apps. Other changes are subtle as in improved browser performance etc. And No it isn't necessary to update. RIM will release the official version as soon as beta testing is over and they make necessary tweaks. So you can wait till then. Busybodies like me were just itching to try it out

Now, you need a wifi connection to register your BlackBerry ID, can't be done through blackberry bridge. So also app world, you need a wifi connection to access app world. For directions on how to turn your our starcomms modem Internet to WIFI accessible by the playbook, scroll a few pages back.

omosuji: Thanks TCD for all the links. Does swarm and playtorrent work?
yes, but doesn't work with bridge, You need Wifi.

PhonesRe: Blackberry Playbook: Anyone? by TCD: 7:23pm On Jun 20, 2012
aomom: see the thing if u update to 2.1 beta without wiping all yur apps will work fine but yur battery will drain fast, if u wipe it sorry most android apps wont work, but your battery will be normal
my experience, i upgraded to 2.1 beta my android apps worked well but when i tried to sideload new ones while on os 2.1 beta, didnt work . The apps sideloaded but wouldnt launch. also my browser flash had issues, youtube videos weren't playing well. So i wiped, downgraded back to 2.0.1.358, sideloaded all my android apps, then uograded to 2.1 beta again, evrything now works even when i sideload android apps on the beta they run perfectly. My battery has no issues too.

omosuji: you have to shine your eyes.
The pb I bought do not look refurbished to me,It will not even work until you go through the whole software upgrade process as described in some earlier post on this topic.
You should also note that pb prices are down worldwide. Why not in nija?!
if you wipe a playbook it takes you through the whole setup process again and it'll ask you to download the latest update. Found that out yesterday when I wiped.

Not saying your PB is refurbished but 52k for a 64gb sounds very enticing that's like $328. Meanwhile RIM retails for $299 on their website. Add shipping costs, customs, profit etc. Abi those people no like profit or maybe coz nobody dey buy they just slashed prices to clear stock. Anyway, the koko of my story, make una shine eye wella before you buy o.

Guys, finally got the 2.1 OS beta, very nice I must say. Each DROID app now runs on its own Window, plus faster browsing experience . Downgraded and upgraded several times yesterday without Wifi. Just downloaded the offline files of the playbook OS using my BB transferred to my PC and tried to load the firmware using dingleberry, surprise surprise, it worked.
PhonesRe: Blackberry Playbook: Anyone? by TCD: 6:44am On Jun 19, 2012
sandraa: Thanks a lot TCD i just installed some apps using the steps you stated. It was as easy as ABC to install dis bar apps.
Now i can enjoy my playbook.

just wondering how d playbook video chat works? that if i dont ve frds using playbook then we cant chat?
well i downloaded Oovoo i guess i ve to ask frds and family to get an Oovoo account.

youtube streaming is so coolllllllll, i wonder how MTN feels about dat.

I love Nairaland!!!!!

In other news RIM has new software for 7.0 fones now 7.1 but found out MTN is still 7.0 so no upgrade for us yet till MTN give dem selves brain.
Anybody noticed this yet?
You welcome, enjoy your device. smiley

The video chat thing only works playbook to playbook and you need wifi. Ovooo doesn't work for video chat on playbook either. For your BB upgrade, like lexus said, you don't have to wait for MTN, you can download the firmware and install yourself using some tools.
PhonesRe: No Data Limits On New Mtn Nigeria Simple Surf Internet Subscription Plan by TCD: 4:06am On Jun 18, 2012
Nobody should waste his or her time subscribing for this simple surf. There is no data limit but there is a speed limit, at least I know for the 250naira, 2hour plan. U can't go past 124kbps that's like highest 15KB/s. Most times revolves around 8KB/s which is totally useless. This is plain theft and false advertising, they should have indicated this . Pls don't fall victim to this scam.

Game lovers, Download this nice game 9mm HD, it's the biggest game on app world by size, 842MB, . If you enjoyed playing Max Payne and Hit man, you'll love this game. Oh and it takes quite awhile to sideload coz of the size so be patient when sideloading and make sure your laptop battery is well charged or plugged in.

RIM Discontinues 16gb playbooks to continue only with 32 and 64GB . So if you're looking to get playbooks on the cheap, better rush and buy while the stocks last.

Racheed: Yea.. A storm 2. Thats the reason yea?
No wonder your case is so rare, people hardly use OS5 anymore. That request entity too large ish was common with os 5, but from os6, blackberry removed that limit. I'm afraid even with other browsers you'll still have the same problem, the best bet is to change to an os6 or 7 BB.

Two years ago, when I was still on os5, there was a way I used to bypass the limit by modifying ipd files and replacing them with one from China, turns out it wasn't safe, those Chinese could be stealing secure information from your phone eg bank passwords etc
