If you have a child in July, by August, he is 1 month old not 2 months. It's true that July and August are 2 different months but the child is only 1 month old. If you have a child this year, next year, he is 1 year old, not 2. It is true that this year and next year are 2 separate years yet your baby is 1 year old.
So if you have a baby on Friday, by next Friday, the child is seven days old even though it's the 8th day.
