Oh, how the strong have fallen! (Part 1)

I think it will be proper to introduce the two chief characters of that day; how I met them and their role in the script I’m about to narrate. I called them the two T’s (Taiye & Tayo).
Let start with Taiye;
Taiyelolu ejire
Ẹ̀jìrẹ́ ará ìṣokún.
Ẹdúnjobí
Ọmọ ẹdun tíí ṣeré orí igi
Ọ́-bẹ́-kẹ́ṣé-bẹ́-kàṣà,
Ó fẹsẹ̀ méjèèjì bẹ sílé alákìísa;
Ó salákìísà donígba aṣọ.
Gbajúmọ̀ ọmọ tíí gbàkúnlẹ̀ ìyá,
Tíí gbàdọ̀bálẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ baba tó bí í lọ́mọ.
Wínrinwínrin lójú orogún
Ejìwọ̀rọ̀ lojú ìyá ẹ̀

So who is he & how do we meet?
There was a time in my life that I love writing. Yea, I write anything writable; poems, novels, film script, just anything my mind inspires me to write. I remembered the Heart magazine then, how I do send my scripts for consideration in their novel - True life story but the more I tried the more I got zero response and this began to make me feel ‘not good enough’ but there was this novel that was released and the storyline was mine but the author was different so I stop sending but a friend advised me not to give up but to go personally to Lagos and look for a producer but since I don’t know anyone, I shun it.

In 2008, there was this Muyiwa Ademola’s film I was watching & I copied the numbers of the producer & editor but then each time I tried calling the producer (Muyiwa), his number is busy so I decided to call the editor (Taiye) and we discussed and you told me to visit Ibadan so I can meet Authe (as you fondly call Muyiwa) one on one.

Which day/month was it, can’t remembered but then you scheduled a meeting for us (myself & Authe) but unfortunately for me, the day I came was the day Muyiwa had to traveled to Lagos for an urgent meeting but nevertheless, we met (for the first time) and you make me feel at home and very comfortable. You showed me the environs, introduced me to some of your available colleagues in the film industry, you went through my scripts & you were not like others that will enviously criticized, you commend me for writing something professional even when I never attended a script-writing school, you corrected & encouraged me, you went further to teach me some basics on film editing.

Taiwo, you really make that day to fulfilled & adventurous for me; you didn’t make my coming to Ibadan be a waste and that mark the beginning of our friendship. When the dark came, you asked me to feel free to spend the night if I have no accommodation but I told you I have made arrangement not knowing I will meet disappointment & almost be roofless if not for the good family of Ajala’s…who sheltered me from the cold & mosquitoes …. But then, it is not the worst day.

Okay, now let’s journey to the genesis of my meeting with the 2nd T – Tayo.
How do I meet Tayo? Is it on facebook, twitter, tagged, messenger, skpe – nope! If not any one of these, then HOW?
Like I say earlier, once upon a time in my life, I love writing but not only writing, I love texting and anyone who knows me well will second to this assertion. You know I’m this kind of crazy & naughty girl back then that I always want to put every fiction into experience to see how possible it can be in reality. If I am writing a script & I write something about a girl tossing a guy, I will do it just to see the outcome; if I wrote something about someone stalking someone, I will practicalize it. Sometime I can just combine numbers to see if it will actually form a person’s contact or write an unsigned letter to keep the reader in suspense. I can write a poem in the middle of the night, pick my phone and start texting the poem to anyone that comes to mind just to verify how meaningful the poem is and it was in this hobby of mine that I met Tayo; although in the case of Tayo, I mistakenly dialed a wrong number, instead of 080, I put 070 or the other way round but the fact remains that my text went to a wrong recipient and that recipient was TAYO. The first time he replied and said he was a wrong number but I still send like 2 or 3 more texts cos that’s the number on my diary but when he replied again that it’s was wrong number, I stopped but after a few days, he called and asked why I stopped sending & plead with me to continue… I do and that is how I came to know TAYO.

Now, that you have known the two characters in my story (how the strong have fallen), let me drive you through the path that led to my worst nightmare… enjoy & watch out 4 part 2!
Literature / Oh, How The Strong Have Fallen! by tee83: 11:58am On Apr 01, 2017
Written by Bosede Rose Williams

Oh, how the strong have fallen! A true life story

Someone once asked me: Bose, you always look so strong and seem to face life as if it is that easy; has there been any time in your life that you felt so freaked out, a time you felt so weak and it seems your legs can not sustain you anymore; has there ever been a worst time in your life?
Wow! Is there anyone who is complete? Even Samson, the strongest man has his moment of weakness and Solomon, the wisest & richest had his weak period; the hardest heart has it day of melting. Only God is complete and only Him is undependable – He depends on no one nor does he rely on any one for anything and since I aint no God, I suppose I had my moments of weakness, I have my bad days and I have had even the worst days……..
But If I say my worst days are those days you ate only once in a day not because you are keeping fit but because you got no choice OR those days you have no option than to eat the leftovers from your friends’ table OR is it the days you hawk the street and was been molested & abuse sexually OR the day you were nearly raped by people you trusted or the days you needed help and your helpers demanded sex before help or the days you borrow your g/frd cloth to attend a party and in the front of your admirers your friend told you not to stain her cloth or the day you needed as little as N20 and you were asked to dance like an entertainer before you could be considered or the days your parents were humiliated before you and you are so powerless to defend them just because you are a nobody …… many a days but yet, ARE THESE NOT ALL THE NORMAL TALES OF A TYPICAL NIGERIAN GIRL BORN IN THE GHETTO WITH A PAKO SPOON IN HER MOUTH?
If on the other hand I say the worst day is the day your ex invited you to his village to meet his parent not knowing you were attending his traditional wedding or was it the day another ex choose your best friend over you …….. BUT STILL, WON’T YOU SAY THESE ARE THE NORMAL CRY OF A FEMALE SPECIE.
Some will still view the worst day as the day you went for an interview, the interview turned out to be unsuccessful, you were robbed of everything on your way and then you trekked some long kilometers to your friend’s house where you think you can find solace, only to be told you were not welcome cos her husband may not like it and then you have to beg a truck to find you way back home …. BUT THESE ARE THE NORMAL’S A TYPICAL JOB SEEKER FACE EVERY TIME.
You know all these and many more are my bad days, I mean real bad days but still, these are days you look back to and all you do is count your blessings because they have made you stronger and have helped you strive for a brighter future. Nevertheless, there are some stories best left untold not because they were your worst or because they were too painful to tell but because they look so irritating and stupid; because you are scared of how your listeners will rate you; you don’t want to tell because your character in the story portrays you as a fool but then aren’t there some experiences that we have to be naïve, be fool in other for us to grow in wisdom? Aren’t there some stories we ought to share for others to learn?
Well, I am not sharing this today because I am still hurt/painful about the event; not for me to generate sympathy from my readers or is it because I want to release another Jenifer’s diary; just sharing it because I wanted to laugh out my tears once again and to let the characters in that story know the impact of their role in that scene of my life…. enjoy.
Career / Re: I Resigned After Receiving My Salary: Help, Am I In Trouble? by tee83: 6:34pm On Mar 31, 2017
Teensway:
I read it just now, nothing like giving one month notice before being entitled to what i worked for.

Teensway

In my opinion, though most company don't normal put in their employment letter that a month notice should be given when resigning or a month salary in lieu of a month notice.

You should have written/tender your resignation letter a month before your final day at work that the silence rule. Fortified a month salary in lieu of a month notice or you give a month notice before your final day at work.

Please if I may suggest, I would say you should find a way to settle it amicably with your former boss because you may need to use the experience in your CV later in future.

Politics / Bola Tinubu And The Fulani Oligarchs. by tee83: 9:40am On Mar 29, 2017
By Charles Ogbu.

The Fulanis don't share power. They never did. They never will. Anyone who think otherwise is a political illiterate.

When it comes to political power, the fulanis keep neither friends nor Allies. They only use you once they believe you can serve a particular purpose for them and once they achieved that purpose, they waste no time making sure you will never be in a position to help any other person or group achieve the same purpose you just helped them achieve.

We may think them uneducated but trust me when I say they are well sophisticated in the ways of political power. Even more sophisticated than most of you empty grammar-speaking southerner with your number-less Degrees.

In Niccolo Machiavellian's "The Prince", it is advised that once a Prince is helped to power, the first thing he should do is to eliminate all the kingmakers who helped him to power as that is the surest way of ensuring that these same powerful kingmakers don't use the same influence they deployed towards installing The Prince to dethrone and replace him with another.

This is exactly what the fulanis are doing to Tinubu.

Forget the gra-gra you are seeing. Senator Bola Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, one of the smartest politicians to have walked this space and the one man who almost singlehandedly installed Muhammadu Buhari as President, is currently struggling to remain alive, politically.

After what they did to him in Ondo state where they used his former political 'boy', John Oyegun, the APC chairman to replace his preferred candidate with Akereodu, they went a step further to strip him of his consolation title of the leader of APC. Even his own 'boy', Lai Mohammad categorically stated that Tinubu cannot be the leader of a party that has a President.

Now, the founder of the defunct ACN is just an ordinary APC chieftain like every other bigwigs in the party. Don't forget, Buhari's CPC has just one state of Nasarawa. It was Tinubu that gifted him with not just his ACN states but his very powerful media houses. All the devilish propaganda and ulcer-inducing lies that ended up convincing the 15million horde of gullible idiots who believed Mr Daura-cula could make N1=to 1$ were made possible by Tinubu's media.

Now, some group of illiterates cowheads known as the Fulani cabal who didn't take part in any of these have gone to yank off the gravely ill Muhammadu Buhari from his hospital bed abroad just to ensure that Tinubu's 'boy' Osinbajo's growing influence and popularity is curtailed.

From his photograph, you need not be a medical expert to know that the badly lettered highly vindictive ex-treasonous Chief fulani herdsman called Muhammadu Buhari is in terrible shape and in dire need of a permanent medical leave. But, in order to ensure that Tinubu does not get to steal the show from them through his political godson, Osinbajo, the scions of Danfodio went and brought back Buhari.

Now, the little breath of fresh air we experienced under Osinbajo as acting president is gone. The highly lettered law professor has been sent back to the political kitchen. Even the so called president, Buhari, is nowhere to be found.

Or,

Has any of you seen your president? Has any of you heard directly from him??

Do you even know that president Buhari cannot even rule himself as we speak?

The destiny of over 180million people is now in the hands of some political terrorists who have no limit to how far they are willing to go just so they would acquire, wield and retain political power.

I do not lay claim to superior intelligence over anyone but I've studied "The Fulanis And Power" the exact way some of you studied whatever it is you read in school and I can categorically tell you that even if it means putting Buhari on Life support till Thy Kingdom Come, Mammam Daura and co will do it as long as no one that is not one of them smells that seat.

Even in the event of Buhari's demise, Osinbajo will not be made President. Recall how they came up with the report that he spent millions of Naira on his gatehouse? If you think impeachment is such an alien word, just wait until the Fulanis want you impeached.

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an experienced politician. One of the best, actually. When ex-president wanted to turn Nigeria to a OneParty state, Tinubu singlehandedly made sure he failed when he protected his Alliance For Democracy (A.D) with all he's got. He fought tyrants like Abacha and almost paid the ultimate price. The story of Nigeria's democracy will not be complete without his name being mentioned.

But,

For his role in Buhari's 2nd missionary journey as Nigeria's President, Senator Bola Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu has pitched his tent on the wrong side of history.

History will remember Tinubu as a man who fought a murderous dictator but ended up foisting another murderous dictator on his compatriots for reasons not unconnected with sheer greed.

The ex Lagos state governor know Buhari better than any man alive. He knew about all the atrocities the daura-born ex-soldier committed during his short stint as head of state. He is not even unaware of the fact that the Fulanis don't share power with even their mothers.

The only reason the strong man of Lagos politics, Tinubu, joined forces with Buhari was because having known the latter's medical record, he felt the God who did it for Jonathan could look unto him with mercy and also do it for him by sending Muhammadu Buhari on the same permanent errand he sent his fellow Katsina kinsman, the good man Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

Argue this from now till 2019, deep down, you know that this is the truth and I know that you know.

For Tinubu and virtually all Nigerian politicians, politics is business, not an avenue to better the lives of the common man.

He will be remembered as a man who voluntarily walked his compatriots back to the dark ages out of greed.

No man, no matter how powerful can make a private bargain with history.

Business / Breaking News!!!! Buhari Jubiliates As Nigeria Moves Out Of Recession Today by tee83: 7:09pm On Mar 24, 2017
World Economics says Nigeria’s economy has climbed out of recession.

World Economics is an organisation dedicated to producing financial analysis, insight and data relating to questions of key importance to the world economy.
In a message on its website, the organization believed that things were turning around in Nigeria.

It wrote, “March Sales Managers’ Index (SMI) data suggests that the Nigerian economy is starting to grow out of the recession which saw 10 months of consecutive contraction.

“The Market Growth Index grew to 53.5 in March as the monthly Sales Growth Index edged up to 51.3, its highest value since March 2016.

“It is too early to speculate if the recovery is built on solid fundamentals for a sustained recovery but the changes reflected are not insubstantial.

“Price inflation for March, which is tracked by the Prices Charged Index, remained high at 61.3 – and indicative that very high levels of inflation continue.

“Overall, conditions in Nigeria have improved over the past month and managers are expressing optimism that the economy will continue to grow.”

Romance / Six Places You Should Never Toast A Nigerian Girl by tee83: 6:11pm On Mar 24, 2017
Some Nigerian guys tend to toast (woo) any girl they are interested in without even considering the time and place. Not minding the location and with so much confidence, they approach you and begin to run their mouths, spitting lines they have specially practiced for wooing girls. Oftentimes, the thinking of certain guys is that they want to take the opportunity to toast the girl as they may not meet her again. That’s true. However, you should be conscious of the places you intend to hit on a woman. Jumia Travel, the leading online booking agency identifies 6 places you should never toast a girl.

1-Hospital

Even if she is Miss Nigeria, you should not toast a girl at the hospital. You don’t know her purpose at the hospital. You appear from nowhere to woo her. You are just disturbing her and wasting your time as she will not answer you.

2-At work

You hear what it is called work. She is very busy at work and you still want to collect her number or you want to ask her out? She will just ignore you and at the end of the whole episode, you will be embarrassed. Well, some girls will have pity on you and walk you out.

3-Church/Mosque

The Church is a place to listen to the word of God and receive anointing. The same for the mosque. These places are not hubs for chasing women. But it is today. That doesn’t it make right.

4-In danfo buses/BRT Stations

Imagine in serious traffic (even when there is no traffic) inside one of those Lagos’s rickety danfos and these guy sitting beside is trying to get your attention. The girl will even be angry that under such harrowing and uncomfortable situation you are toasting her. What she just want is to get home. You are a distraction. For BRT stations, you see a girl standing in a long queue, you want to woo her. That is a wrong time.

5-Cinema

We all go to the cinema for different reasons. Some go there to search for potential lovers. But the cinema is a place where you to enjoy the movie you paid for and leave. So, enjoy your movie and when it is over you can go talk to whomever you are interested in. Don’t do this immediately after the movie, though.

6-Her father’s house

When a Nigerian father sees their daughter with, they think about all sorts of things like she has joined bad gang. Most of which are negative. Hence, quite a number of girls don’t like guys wooing them in front of their father’s house especially if they are meeting you for the first time.

First thing you should do is to duplicate the video and delete it from the CCTV's memory so that nobody sees it.

True, you may have now found a bargaining/"keeping in check" chip for your boss, but he now sees you as a significant threat to his image and career. Judging from his kind of personality you spoke about, he could be desperate enough to employ eliminative means of getting rid of you, before you ever have a chance to use your chip.

Your safety is not guaranteed anymore. As long as you are in that unit, the man will never be at peace with you. If it is possible to ask for a transfer, please do so.

Alternatively, if the country you are in is relatively a safe one, you could take him to the ethics department and ensure he is gotten rid off. Because, a bad blood has already been drawn and, ultimately, one person will be gotten rid off, courtesy of the other person.

So, get rid of him, before he gets rid of you

Religion / Jehovah’s Witnesses Mobilise Global Response To Threat Of Ban In Russia by tee83: 11:44am On Mar 24, 2017
Threatened with an imminent ban on their worship in Russia, Jehovah’s Witnesses are responding with a direct appeal to Kremlin and Supreme Court officials for relief through a global letter-writing campaign. The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses is inviting the over 8,000,000 Witnesses worldwide to participate.

On March 15, 2017, Russia’s Ministry of Justice filed a claim with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to label the Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia as extremist and liquidate it. The claim also seeks to ban the activities of the Administrative Center. If the Supreme Court upholds this claim, the Witnesses’ national headquarters near St. Petersburg will be shut down. Subsequently, some 400 registered Local Religious Organizations would be liquidated, outlawing the services of over 2,300 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia. The branch property, as well as places of worship used by Witnesses throughout the country, could be seized by the State. Additionally, individual Jehovah’s Witnesses would become subject to criminal prosecution for merely carrying out their worship activities. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the claim on April 5.

“The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses wants to heighten attention to this critical situation,” states David A. Semonian, a spokesman at the Witnesses’ world headquarters. “Prosecuting non-violent, law-abiding citizens as if they were terrorists is clearly a misapplication of anti-extremist laws. Such prosecution is based on completely false grounds.”

The Witnesses’ global campaign is not without precedent. Nearly 20 years ago, Witnesses wrote to defend their fellow worshippers in Russia in response to a smear campaign by some members of the government in power at the time. Additionally, Witnesses have initiated past letter-writing campaigns to motivate government officials to end persecution of Witnesses in other countries, including Jordan, Korea, and Malawi.

“Reading the Bible, singing, and praying with fellow worshippers is clearly not criminal,” adds Mr. Semonian. “We hope that our global letter-writing campaign will motivate Russian officials to stop this unjustifiable action against our fellow worshippers.”

Health / You Are Mean. Stop It! by tee83: 11:09am On Mar 22, 2017
Via Lara Wise...

YOU ARE MEAN. STOP IT!

Below is a blogmail received today from a friend of 35 year old medical doctor, Allwell Orji, who committed suicide on Sunday March 13th. Read below

Hi Blog, the deceased was my friend and I will like to remain anonymous pls. Dr Orji was an introvert because he was a sicklier and he suffered from seizure attacks thus, he preferred keeping to himself. The social stigma (from the recurrent seizure attacks) was too high for him to bear. He used a driver because the seizure can come at any time.

He wanted to do residency in Surgery so he could become a Consultant, he wrote the exam and passed but was denied the opportunity because Hospital management felt he could not cope with the stress. He wasn't really on social media because he was quite antisocial thus, his profile and pictures were not on the internet. So from all indications, i think it was a case of severe depression that was poorly managed thus, he felt hopeless due to his challenges and decided to end it in a Lagoon".

If this is indeed true, then 'we' killed this doctor.
Stigma and discrimination don't wear a name.
They don't wear a religion.
They don't wear a tribe.
They don't wear a gender.
Stigma and discrimination wear the face of humanity.
Please, in the name of God, stop discriminating against human beings living with any special or strange health conditions. They didn't ask to be born that way.

It is beyond them so don't bring it on them.In secondary school, I had a classmate who was epileptic. She had seizures at odd places and at odd times. It disgraced her without prior notice and it aways left her with injuries, sometimes, severe.Once she started, we would run away. Some of us, including me, avoided sitting with her in class and we refrained from sharing our stuff with her.All that changed when i discussed her disturbing health situation with my mum, a seasoned nurse.First, my mum scolded me for running away from her. She took me through days of lectures on epilepsy, how it wasn't infectious, what I should do the next time she had a seizure. " don't run away, run towards her. loosen any tight article of clothing around her. Remover her stockings, her belt, unfasten her bra, if she's wearing a tie, loosen it so she can breath well and so blood circulation is not constrained. Clear the crowd around her so she gets fresh air and then, tilt her chin forward. This action will prevent her from choking on the foamy content in her mouth."My mum told me that, as a matter of fact, the foam she produced from her mouth was as harmless as water and it would do me no harm even if I ingested it.

My mum told me to help her avoid noisy environment and excessive emotional situations.I heard this lecture over and over during the holiday and by the time I returned to school,i was no longer afraid of my friend. I was better informed to deal with her seizure which happened in the dinning hall. Ever since that episode, each time she had a seizure, our friends would scream my name.My attitude changed simply because I got information and I was no longer ignorant.Stigma and discrimination ride on ignorance and illiteracy !Please reach out to those battling inner fears from ill health and other forms of strange sicknesses'. It is not their making.

STOP STIGMATIZING HUMANITY! !!!!!

Politics / 7 Things You Didn’t Know About Acting President Yemi Osinbajo by tee83: 7:20pm On Mar 08, 2017
You know him as Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, but his parents know him as Oluyemi Oluleke.Today he is 60 years old, and no longer the son of a single family but a father to the millions of households in Africa’s largest country.

It is his diamond jubilee, and like diamonds, Osinbajo has had his fair share of the heat of life, which translates raw carbon to pure, glittering diamond.

Having followed Osinbajo for many years, TheCable presents seven things you probably never knew about the professor of law, pastor, and development expert.

1-BECAME A LECTURER AT 23

We all know Osinbajo as a professor of law, and its a no-brainer, he must have lectured law, but what many do not know is that he began to lecture at the tender age of 23.

He taught law at the University of Lagos. Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, was one of Osinbajo’s students in his days at UNILAG.

2-BORROWED TO PAY HIS SCHOOL FEES Osinbajo LSE

The one who borrowed can now pay for thousands

You probably know Osinbajo studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science, but you did not know he borrowed to pay his way through.

Speaking on politics and the responsibility of governance, at a conference back in 2011, Osinbajo shared his experience as a student.

“A few years ago, as a student in a British University, I couldn’t pay my fees because my cheque had not come from Nigeria. That time, the CBN used to have a lot of trouble with remitting funds and all that, and my fees were about two months late,” he had said.

“So I spoke to the university counsellor, and she said, ‘why don’t you go to a bank and ask for money?’ And I thought, how can I just go to a bank and ask for money, when I don’t have any money at all?

“She said go speak to them, explain to them that you will pay back. So, I went up to the bank, and explained that I will pay back. I met a lady across the counter, I didn’t go into any office, I didn’t speak to the manager, and she looked at the ledger and saw I had no money.

“She said, ‘when are you expecting your money?’ I said maybe another five, six weeks. She said ‘okay’, and she handed me £600 and I paid my fees with the £600 and of course, when my cheque came, I paid it back.”

3-BECAME A PROFESSOR AT 33

In 1994, he became a professor of law, and four years later, he was appointed head of the department of public law at UNILAG.

But the academic entered the professorial cadre in 1990, when he was only 33 years old.

4-NEVER RODE A NEW CAR TILL 1998

Osinbajo Car

You can bet the VP’s car is new

Long before he became vice-president, Osinbajo told some members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he is a pastor, that he never rode a new car for the first 41 years of his life.

“Until the year 1998, I never used a brand new car. I graduated in 1979 by the way, and I started teaching at the age of 23,” Osinbajo revealed.

“I entered the professorial cadre at 33, I did not use a brand new car till 1998. Always tokunbo. Where would I even find the money? It was always Tokunbo, but God preserved me, he saved me.

“He preserved me that I did not go and put my hands into things that I should not. Today, I get three gifts of brand new car, every year. Sometimes, I would have to say, ‘it’s ok’.”

Now he can as well drive as many new cars as he wishes — but he says he will not put his hands where he should not.

5-THE GOLDEN PROMISE TO HIS MOTHER

You also know Buhari-Osinbajo rode to power on the promise to bring reforms to Nigeria, what you perhaps didn’t know is that Osinbajo promised his mother that the government he will be part of, will reform the power sector.

Speaking at the Bola Tinubu colloquium in 2015, Osinbajo narrated how he went to break the news to his mother that he will be running for vice-president. He said he expected her to express reservations, but that she only offered a prayer, and said: “You must solve this NEPA problem.”

The acting president said he told his mother that reformation of the sector would be one of the priorities of the government, if they win.

Now, you know why Osinbajo is so keen on the power sector — for Nigerians, and for his mother.

6-NO NATION CAN DEVELOP WITHOUT HOURLY PAY’

Osinbajo has always held the belief that no nation can develop without hourly pay. This is even long before he turned into a key player in the nation.

“There is no nation on the face of the earth, and I stand to be corrected, that has been able to develop a first world economy without hourly pay; it is not possible. Time is the measure of money,” he had said at a leadership conference in Lagos.

“If there is no hourly pay, we can get to work when we please and decide when we leave. One of the reasons the Chinese are so effective is because of their work ethics.”

He said it was Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, who did a study on Nigeria and China, and found out that the “average Chinese worker is six times more productive than the average Nigerian worker”.

Nigeria may expect an hourly plan from the acting president — if he has his way.

7-SAM ADEYEMI’S PROPHECY

Sam Adeyemi, senior pastor Daystar Christian Centre

Osinbajo himself may not remember this day, but back in 2011, at the Excellence in Leadership Conference organised by Daystar Christian Centre, Adeyemi prophesied that Osinbajo and a number of others at the conference “will be leading the nation not too long from now”.

Adeyemi said: “There are people here who will lead this nation out of its current situation, there are people here who will lead this nation to greatness.

“When we aspire for political power, or when we are in position of authority, we would remember those principles, we would set those principles as objectives, and by God’s grace we would achieve.”

Today, Osinbajo is not just in power, we can say he is at the peak of power.

Travel / President Donald Trump signs new travel ban, exempts Iraq by tee83: 5:47pm On Mar 06, 2017
Breaking News:

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Monday banning immigration from six Muslim-majority countries, notably dropping Iraq from January's previous order.
The new travel ban comes six weeks after Trump's original executive order was rolled out to chaos and confusion at airports nationwide, and eventually blocked by a federal court.

The ban covers Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Iraq will "increase cooperation with the US government on the vetting of its citizens applying for a visa to travel to the United States," according to an administration fact sheet.
The rollout of the revised travel ban marks an important moment for the administration, which has little room for error after the chaotic debut of the original plan. That failure raised questions about the new White House's capacity to govern and to master the political intricacies needed to manage complicated political endeavors in Washington. It also brought Trump into conflict with the judiciary in the first sign of how constitutional checks and balances could challenge his vision of a powerful presidency built on expansive executive authority.
The order makes clear that lawful permanent residents (otherwise known as green card holders) are excluded from any travel ban, White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said on "Fox and Friends" Monday. Also those with validly issued visas will also be exempt from the ban.
"If you have travel docs, if you actually have a visa, if you are a legal permanent resident, you are not covered under this particular executive action," Conway said. "Also, Iraq is no longer on the list based on their enhanced screening and reporting measures."
The original order barred citizens from seven countries from entering the US for 90 days, all refugees for 120 days and indefinitely halted refugees from Syria.
It came under intense criticism as an attempt to bar Muslims from entering the country, and Trump's call during the campaign for a "Muslim Ban" was cited in court cases attacking the ban.
Administration officials Monday stressed they do not see the ban as targeting a specific religion.
"(The order is) not any way targeted as a Muslim ban ... we want to make sure everyone understands that," an official told reporters.
When it comes to refugees, the new order does not prioritize religious minorities when considering refugee admissions cases, the official said.
All refugees will be be barred for 120 days. The previous version had banned Syrian refugees indefinitely.
Working to contain fallout
The newly crafted order also revealed that the administration wasn't just paying attention to the legal criticism in the courts, but also recalibrating in light of the heavy political fire they faced after the first order's messy rollout.
While administration lawyers argued the original travel ban went into effect immediately to prevent terrorists from rushing into the country, the revised ban will phase in after 10 days.
White House officials also collaborated for several weeks with officials at the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and kept congressional leaders apprised of their progress this time around after the White House drew a backlash for keeping Congress and relevant federal agencies almost entirely in the dark during the first rollout.
To bolster its national security claims, the new executive order will also include information that the FBI has reported that approximately 300 persons who entered the United States as refugees are "currently the subjects of counter-terrorism investigations," the administration officials told reporters.
The White House also abandoned the sense of urgency with which it implemented the first travel ban, delaying the signing of a new executive order multiple times over the last three weeks. Politics also came into play as White House officials delayed the signing from last Wednesday in part to allow positive coverage of the president's joint address to Congress to continue uninterrupted.
"We want the (executive order) to have its own 'moment,'" a senior administration official told CNN last week.
Why Iraq was removed
But the new order was also delayed in part because of a debate within the administration over how to handle Iraq.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and national security adviser Gen. H.R. McMaster had all advocated for Iraq to be removed from the Trump administration's list of banned countries in the new executive order for diplomatic reasons, including Iraq's role in fighting ISIS, sources told CNN's Elise Labott and Evan Perez. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly also supported the move.
Iraq was removed from the revised travel ban executive order after intensive lobbying from the Iraqi government at the highest levels, according to a senior US official.
That included a phone call between Trump and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on February 10 and an in-person conversation between Abadi and Vice President Mike Pence in Munich on February 18.
Those conversations were followed by discussions between Tillerson and members of the Iraqi government about vetting measures in place that would prevent suspected terrorists from leaving Iraq and coming to the United States. Iraq did not implement new measures; rather, the country provided more detail to US officials about how it screens travelers.
In Trump's call with Abadi, the President vowed to seek a resolution to his counterpart's concerns about his citizens' being unable to enter the United States, according to a readout of the phone call from Baghdad. The US official said Trump asked Tillerson to get greater clarity on vetting measures in Iraq.
Trump also faced pressure to remove Iraq from the order from some American national security officials, who argued the restriction burdened a key anti-ISIS partner. Some of those voices were holdovers from the Obama administration.

Business / Why Naira Is Appreciating—CBN by tee83: 2:05pm On Mar 03, 2017
By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief SOKOTO— The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has said the nation’s currency, Naira, has being gaining against major international currencies in the foreign exchange market in recent weeks due to its decision to deepen its intervention in the market. Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, CBN’s spokesman told journalists at a press conference in Sokoto, yesterday, that the bank provisions had outstripped demand on two consecutive interventions in recent times. Naira According to him, on the first occasion, the CBN placed $500 million but that only N$370 million was taken. He added that on a second occasion, the apex bank placed $230 million and that only $221 million was taken, to demonstrate that the pressure was easing in the market. He refuted claims in social media reports that the current appreciation of the Naira was because a self-acclaimed whistleblower exposed an alleged corruption in the forex market where it was alleged that some people received dollars at a rate as low as 61 kobo/$1. Mr. Okoroafor said: “I want to state and make it categorical that there is no relationship whatsoever, between the allegation by the so-called person that dollar was being sold at 61 kobo and the current appreciation of the Naira. “I want to state that what led to the appreciation of the Naira include the following: *The CBN has done its intelligence work in the foreign exchange market and we came to the realization that much of what was driving the demand in the BDCs and the parallel market was a bubble, speculation. “And we reasoned that since there was pressure on those two segments from people seeking foreign exchange for PTA (Personal Travel Allowance), medicals and tuition, that if we successfully address those needs, that the pressure will come down. “The other issue was that the level of our reserve before now. We didn’t feel comfortable enough to do the kind of intervention that we required. “Now we have decided to undertake the intervention at this time because we are a bit more comfortable with the current level of our reserve.” And because of that we intervened in the market and the market reacted positively and the Naira began gaining strength. “Let me also state and prove that when we placed $500m in the market , only $370 million was taken. And that tells you that it was all bubble. The real demand was $370 million. When we placed $230 million in the market, only $221 was taken up. It is as simple as that. “Anyone who has gone foul of the law and the law has caught up with him should go and face his or her case and stop causing confusion among participants in the market. I need to make this clear.”

Politics / The Man Behind Naira Appreciation- Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, A Lagos Businessman by tee83: 1:00pm On Mar 01, 2017
** Government Magic or Osinbajo's Miracle? **

BREAKING NEWS: Naira Gains; While DSS Still Detaining Mr Gbadamosi Who Exposed The Govt Forex Fraud.*
While Nigerians are still speculating the actual reason behind the sudden appreciation of the Naira over major International currencies since February 20, 2017 and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sudden change of policy, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, a Lagos Businessman and former governorship candidate, who exposed in details the monumental organized foreign currency fraud by the Buhari government and officials of CBN was arrested and still detained by the Department of Security Services (DSS) since February 22, 2017.
In a social media video which went viral, Mr Gbadamosi frowned at the shabby practices where those that genuinely need foreign currencies for Business are not provided with any, while the President's allies and the cronies of CBN big-wigs are receiving them at ridiculous low rates of N3/$1.
Every effort to secure Mr Gbadamosi's release has proved abortive. The DSS has ensure that no one visits or see the incarcerated voice of the Nigerian opposition in the secret detention center he was dumped six days ago and sources close to Hope For Nigeria within the secret police headquarters in Abuja are claiming that Gbadamosi was accused of blackmailing the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Government by releasing those classified information about forex sales.
Regrettably, while Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi is languishing in DSS secret detention center for saving Nigeria from the forex mafia, Nigerians are giving the glory to the acting President Osibanjo who raised no finger in the new development where the CBN suspended forex sales to cronies and allies of President Buhari and sudden revert to the polices of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, where the Naira is protected with our external reserve.
Re-echoing the concern of Nigerians including that of the former CBN governor and the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido who revealed the operation of over 20 different foreign exchange rates by the CBN and some Nigerians making billions of Naira daily from their gardens trading dollar they bought at an alarming low rates, Mr Gbadamosi demanded that these sharp practices should stop in other for the country to survive the self-induced recession.
Gbadamosi quoting various media sources in the Video, stated that the CBN was selling forex to some close allies of President Muhammadu Buhari for as low as N3 to $1 through what is called Bills of Collection. People where given Dollars with cold claims that their Form M was filled and submitted like 35 years ago but forex was not released. They cartel only has to claim that they made their importation in 1985 but forex was not released to you despite submitting duly completed Form M.
With all documents perfected, the forex will then be released at the prevailing rate in 1985. They will get $3 million at N5/ $1 and selling to end users at say N480/ $1. The said customer will be making about N1.425billion in one transaction.
He listed transactions by some individuals that got $4,327 at the rate of N23.34 to $1 through “credit card payment” for “invisible” purpose and under “invisible sector”. A bank also got $3,589.11 at the rate of N3.19 to $1 also for “invisible” purposes and under “invisible” sector. There was a transaction involving sale of $66.72 at the rate of N0.62 to $1. There was also a sale of $5.56 to a company at the rate of N0.61 also for “invisible” purposes. A particular transaction also involved the sale of $570.8 at the rate N3.17.
In contrast, there was a company, who purchased $1,462,480.83 at the rate of N425 to $1. The document shows that individuals and companies got foreign exchange for purposes ranging from importation, PTA, school fees, “invisible”, family maintenance allowances, mortgage payments and medical travel among others.
This video lead the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), to query the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, demanding “prompt response” to the allegations of corruption in the CBN’s foreign exchange allocation and transactions. Multiple Petitions against the CBN indicated how some companies and individuals got foreign exchange in US dollars at the rates as low as low as N0.61 to $1 while others got it in rates that were as high as N470 to $1.
Malami, in the letter, dated February 6, 2017, and with reference number, HAGF/CBN/2017/VOL.1/1, asked Emefiele to respond to the allegations “to enable us to advise the Presidency and take appropriate measures.”
Titled ‘allegations of racketeering in the Central Bank of Nigeria; disparity in allocation of foreign exchange’, and addressed to Emefiele, the letter was delivered to the CBN governor’s office on Monday.
The allegations in the attorney general's letter to Emefiele includes:-
alleged corruption in the apex bank’s “foreign exchange allocation transactions.
2. questionable policy in CBN’s allocation and sale of foreign currency to Nigerians.
3. arbitrary allotment of different exchange rates for same purposes.
4. allocation of conflicting foreign exchange rates.
The DSS has not charged Mr Gbadamosi after six days of arrest and they denied him medical attention, family visits and rejected the request for his lawyers to see him or be informed of the reason for his arrest.
It is shocking to note that Nigerians are enjoying the appreciation of the Naira over major currencies and praising the CBN and the government that overseas the foreign currency fraud that almost crippled the Nigerian economy while the man who scarified neck is under chain and locked up in a secret detention centre.
Hope for Nigeria
