Celebrities › My Short Advice To Don Jazzy by Teeboy15(op): 2:54pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
With all that happened at the Headies 2015 event that just went down, I believe now you know your position and that of your crew in the music industry. Colleagues will sing your praises in front and slander you behind. If you never took jealousy seriously before I think now is the best time to start rethinking. The music industry is filled with snakes, beware of their venom. You are a legend and you make legends. 'If dem like make dem fire you 'katapot' of envy. Dem throw u bomb of jealousy. Dem try to eye your progress. But they surely can't put you down'. Don't let disrespectful kids change you, instead pray for them and keep keeping up the simple and humble personality you've always been known for and keep giving us more hits to dance to. Surely they will gather. God bless the Don. God bless SMD. God bless Nigerian Music Industry |
Celebrities › Headies2015: To Those Of U Backing Olamide Up by Teeboy15(op): 6:08am On Jan 02, 2016 |
Firstly, I was so disappointed with the organization and arrangement of the show. The whole crew were confused and I felt really embarrassed, to think it's referred to as our own Grammy Awards. However, the main reason for Olamide's foolish and shameful behaviour was because of the Next Rated Award Category going out to Don Jazzy's 'boy' Reekado Banks instead of Olamide's Lil Kesh. Reasons why Olamide should be castigated and not praised:
1. REEKADO BANKS WELL DESERVED THE AWARD; The category was a tight fix cos 2015 was a great year for all the contestants. Yes Kesh had hits after hits but so did Reekado, Kiss Daniel and the rest. The problem is that Lil Kesh's fans procrastinated, Reekado Bank's fans voted. Shikena!
2. OLAMIDE'S BEHAVIOUR WAS PETTY AND IMMATURE; He's now a father and also a record boss who has artistes coming up under him. Even if he felt Kesh was cheated (which I don't think), what was expected of him (Olamide) was to cheer Kesh up and express his disappointment to the organizers satirically. Dekunle Gold was about to do so before Olamide grabbed the mic. After all Next Rated Award does not necessarily determine a successful musical career.
3. DON JAZZY WAS RIGHT WITH HIS SPEECH; Intact I jumped to hail the Don, after he spoke, even though I was watching from my room, cos he spoke a percentage of my mind. What he (Olamide) codedly meant was that Don Jazzy had used his influence to lobby the award for his artistes in the category (after all he's Don Jazzy na...) of which the award organizers have been accused of in the past. Seems the Mavin Boss saw that coming, hence the response. I'm sure u understand.
4. HE DISRESPECTED/INSULTED EVERYONE'S GRANDMOTHERS; Olamide insulted everyone from the organizers to those seated in the venue, those at home watching, to those that voted. Even slammed the microphone on the floor and poured his drink, that's super disrespectful. All because of car that Kesh himself can afford with digging deep into his pocket.
I have always been a fan of Olamide but honestly his behaviour at the show just made him lose one (means nothing to him but a lot to me) and I'd advice him to thread cautiously in the industry because the level the likes of PSquare, 2face, Dbanj, have attained in music did not just come by, they have so many industry shot callers who can frustrate young misbeahiving musicians like Olamide out of business, and Don Jazzy falls in that category. He should be careful not to get drunk to shows anymore. Ask Kanye West |

Celebrities › Headies Awards Is Poorly Organized And Embarrasing by Teeboy15(op): 2:47am On Jan 02, 2016 |
Okay, with so so much hype and anticipation about the Headies Awards 2015, there was so much expectations on the show but I can tell y'all that what I'm watching right now is such a poorly organized show. Seems the organizers of the show were/are confused. The only saving grace for the show are hosts Bovi and Kaffy who have been really entertaining. Wish I could go into details but kinda feeling sleepy (forcing myself to keep watching) due to the doldrum show. I score them 20/100. Can't believe I stayed up late for this. This is so embarrassing. Getting a new tattoo may not be new to Ricky Rozay, because the Florida rapper literally has almost eighty percent of his body covered in ink. However, what seems strange about this new ink is that it is actually on the forehead, by the hairline, and I can imagine the amount of pain he had to endure to get that done. As expected, a lot of comments followed but a few caught my attention. He tagged it 'in search of true wealth' Catchy or insane? what do y'all think?

Omo since Fashola assumed office light has been terribly terrible in Lagos (don't know about other states though). Least we could boast of 16-18 hours of light (in interval) before he got his portfolio, but the situation has been worse after that. I jubilated the day 'Mr Tourism' announced his portfolio to us because I believe in Fash but with recent turnout it seems our dearly 'beloved' former governor is showing signs of 'too much workload'. Well, I just hope he has a better explanation to the ridiculous and nerve pulling decline in electricity since his swearing into office. Please share 'Light' situation in your area since Fashola became minister of power |

dabriggs: Ehen, I don come back. I am back
Sorry for the late reply. I am completing my program here and there are just a lot of things to do related to graduation and convocation. You studied Civil Engineering. That is good. Let me start by saying this:
Generally the business can informally be split into two 2.
1. There are Oil Producing Companies which are either International Oil Companies (IOCs e.g. Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Total) OR Indigenous/Local Oil Companies (Pan Ocean, Moni Pulo, Conoil,).
2. There are Oil Servicing Companies (OSCs) and these offer a very long list of services from rudimentary supplies to highly specialized technical services to the IOCs. The IOCs do not have all the skills and some of these services are required maybe once in 3 or 5 years. It is cheaper and better to outsource such to servicing companies. In the past they used to be many international servicing companies. But now, the Nigerian local content laws have made most of these international servicing companies merge with local companies or ''indegenize''. International servicing companies include Technip, SUBSEA 7, Baker Hughes, Fugro, Schlum., NALCO, etc. Some of these companies might claim to be local. But believe me there is a foreign company pulling the strings from overseas. Local servicing companies include Makon, Tenoil, AOS Orwell, Clairgold, etc.
So why this long digression? You have a choice to work with any of the two groups. Within the core oil producing companies as a Civil Engineer, I will see you in:
1. Facilities or 2. Safety Engineering
Facilities guys manage the structures offshore or on land. They are involved in design, maintenance and management of the design life of oil producing and exporting assets. Within Safety Engineering you will be involved in asset integrity management and risk based inspection. Usually you will work closely with the Facilities guys on matters life design life extension, fatigue, corrosion control and corrosion prevention and protection, ageing and obsolescence, etc. The facilities will include stuff like FPSO Hull, mooring chains, SBM/SPM export buoy, pipes, vessels, risers.
With regards to servicing companies, you could work with the drilling and well completion companies, the design companies for facility designs.Pipeline construction, a host of technical issues related to civil /Structural works, platform construction, detailed Engineering for Civil/ Structural works as per Project specifications and applicable International codes and standards, subsea soil foundation and stability tests, technical review of design documents and method statements etc.
The courses will depend on which area you are interested in. Are you concerned with Design? Asset Integrity? Life Extension? Courses on STAAD Pro, some specialized training of fire resistant and blast resistant structures, training on Cathodic and Corrosion Protection, UTM and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Systems and training on to be conversant with international codes and standards will also be good. ASTM, ASCE/ANSI, API, etc. With regards to loss prevention and asset integrity management you can Try PHAST, SAFETI, IFS, SYNERGI, VisualAIM etc.
You can also check the web to see where your discipline is heading and where to focus on developing yourself. Thanx a lot. With the above info I think SAFETY does it for me. I find it quite interesting. Will do a research on all of them n keep u posted. I appreciate ur time |

dabriggs: In banking those tips are usually not allowed. They are considered illegal. But we never cared back then. Especially a front office cashier or a bulk room cashier. They get the highest tips. More tips if you are a fine female.
Regarding your friend, his company has questions to answer. What about his workmen compensation policy? By DPR regulations all oil and gas serving companies must fully insure their staff. Handling of chemicals is usually done with appropriate PPEs and SOP (standard operating procedures). There is also a Hazard Allowance that comes with working at hazardous sites or handling hazardous chemicals. If he follows procedures and uses the right PPEs he should be good. Of course humans are not perfect. Accidents do happen. Also, hazards cannot be completely eliminated and in many cases the hazardous conditions are needed for the processes to go on (please if your knowledge on HSE is NISP HSE Appreciation and you do not understand this, let me know. Don't quote me rudely with shallow knowledge).
Unfortunately staff do delegate (without company approval) their tasks to contract staff. It is the Company that can decide if they need to set limits to this trend. Boss I greet u. Please I want u to direct me on what certificate courses to take to enable me break into oil n gas. I studied civil engineering. I have soft skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3d and PDMS softwares. Please I want u to guide me cc Scobaba, pepsiboy, madcow |

dabriggs: Yes. Especially in laboratories on production facilities where compulsorily pre-loading and daily QA/QC checks are done on crude.
Besides offshore facilities all depots and terminals have laboratories also. All cargoes go through compulsory QA/QC checks. Some labs also go further to carry out analyses on Effluent water discharge from oil water separators etc., etc. In order words these chemists are active in environmental protection and pollution control. Boss I studied civil engineering. I'm good at AutoCAD, Civil3d n pdms. Pls school me on professional courses to take so I can break into the oil n gas sector. Thank u |
