Atletico Madrid will seek an immediate return to winning ways in La Liga when they travel to winless Levante on Thursday night. Diego Simeone's side came from 2-0 down to rescue a point against Real Sociedad last time out, while the hosts were on the wrong end of a 5-3 thriller with Sevilla. Match preview Chalking up three goals against Sevilla is a noteworthy feat for any side, but unfortunately for Levante, their defensive deficiencies were on show throughout the 90 minutes on Sunday as Sevilla marched to a hard-fought 5-3 victory on their own turf. Levante had previously failed to score in four consecutive matches before Jose Morales (2) and Gonzalo Melero gave them hope against Sevilla, but Julen Lopetegui's side struck five times through five different scorers as the visitors' efforts were ultimately in vain. read more on https://baboyo.com/news/match-preview-levante-vs-atletico-madrid-laliga-28-10-21 BABOYO SAYS Our experts have analyzed the game and rounded up a certain winner for either side, winning the match will be highly contested. At least one Manchester United player reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he is the ‘issue’ after their 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool on Sunday. That humiliating result at home to their arch-rivals means the Red Devils have now only taken one point from their last four matches in the Premier League. United were poor throughout as Mohamed Salah hit a hat-trick, with goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota adding to the embarrassment for Solskjaer and his players. Ronaldo leads the ‘worst’ Premier League XI of the weekend Solskjaer said the defeat saw United hit “rock bottom” but believes he is the right man to continue at the helm. There are already rumours that he could be replaced before their next match against Tottenham in the Premier League with Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane among the names linked. And now The Athletic write that Solskjaer’s speech in the dressing room after their match against Liverpool was badly received by some of his players. The Athletic claim: ‘Solskjaer asked his team for their thoughts on the issues causing United to leak chances week after week. More than one concluded that the answer was the man posing the question. Looking to progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup Arsenal will be do their best to take on Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. The Gunners will enter the contest off the back of a 3-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday, while Leeds played out a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Arsenal have had their fair share of criticism this season, but Friday's 3-1 win over Villa in the Premier League made it seven games unbeaten in all competitions for the Gunners, who have also been victorious in four of their last five matches at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta's side, who are currently ninth in the Premier League table on 14 points, recorded a 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the last round of the EFL Cup to progress to this stage, with Alexandre Lacazette, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah on the scoresheet. The Gunners are the most dominant team in the history of the FA Cup, winning the competition on 14 occasions, but they have only lifted the League Cup on two previous occasions. The North London outfit first tasted success in this competition in 1987 before winning the 1993 trophy courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the final. The absence of European football could certainly help Arsenal this season in their pursuit of domestic success, as they will have a lot more rest than their rivals, particularly over the next few weeks. It is difficult to think of a more intense rivalry in English football than Manchester United vs Liverpool. There is plenty of off-field spice that makes the meetings between these two giants of the beautiful game so enthralling but in the end, on-pitch matters will always be king. Right now, there are no two bigger stars on either side of the divide than Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah. Both are among the very best players on the planet - but which one should be considered better? SOURCE: https://baboyo.com/news/who-is-better-ronaldo-or-salah

Solskjaer and Man United’s project is the biggest failure in Premier League history Sancho 70m Maguire 80m Wan Bissaka 50m Van De Beek 40m Fernandes 60m Varane 40m Diallo 40m Dan James 15m Add to this that you have Ronaldo and Cavani, one of the greatest players of all time and one of the best strikers of the past decade, on massive, massive wages. Add players from previous managers like World cup winner and formerly most expensive Premier League player ever, Paul Pogba. Add 55m Fred. Add 35m Shaw. Add 30m Lindelof. Add 50m Martial. Add 30m Bailly. And then consider you have two players purchased for 40m each in Matic and Mata as well. Now imagine a manager handed all of this, who then proceeds to win absolutely nought in 3 years, and eventually reaches rock bottom being slapped 5-0 at home by his biggest rivals in a defeat so humiliating that it was ended as a contest before half time. The team now sits in 7th place, behind ‘calamity’ Spurs and level on points with ‘shambolic’ Arsenal. Source: https://baboyo.com/news/soldkjaer-man-united-project-a-total-failure

Ansu Fati has joined Barcelona teammate Pedri in signing a contract extension that includes a 1billion euro (£846million) buyout clause. The 18-year-old, who is wearing Lionel Messi’s former number 10 shirt this season, has inked fresh terms to keep him at the Nou Camp until 2027. Barcelona have inserted €1bn buy-outs in Pedri and Fati’s new contracts Fati, who helped Barca to a 1-0 Champions League win against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night, has been at the club since he was 10-years-old. The Spanish international’s new contract comes just days after Ronald Koeman succeed in securing Pedri’s long-term future as well. Barcelona have clearly learned their lesson having seen Paris Saint-Germain swoop to activate Neymar’s £198m release clause in 2017. The Catalans have now ensured release clauses in their players contracts are exceptionally higher to discourage any potential bidders. Pep Guardiola’s thrilling Barcelona side from 2008 to 2012 were arguably the greatest of the lot. Three of football’s greatest ever talents, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta were once the faces of a Barcelona side that dominated football Under Guardiola, Barca won three La Liga crowns at Barcelona The Spaniard revolutionised the game with his philosophy that became known the world over as ‘Tiki-Taka’ in a brand of football that had never been seen before, steering the Catalans to three league titles and two Champions League crowns to etch their name as true greats of European football. From Thierry Henry to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Spaniard oversaw some incredible talents throughout his four-year tenure, but none more so than the trio of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi. They went on to become three of football’s greatest ever players and shared an almost telepathic relationship with one another that may not ever been seen again. Guardiola and Zlatan did not get on at Barcelona With a mesmerising ability to create space in tight areas, their understanding was almost extra-terrestrial, and even with the likes of Ronaldinho and Ronaldo in the club’s star-studded list of alumni, many will tell you they are the club’s three greatest players. Unfortunately for Barcelona fans, all good things come to an end – and it has in it has in the most brutal way possible for the Camp Nou faithful in recent times. Xavi is now retired and managing in Qatar, Iniesta is plying his trade with Vissel Kobe in Japan, whilst the next generation of Barcelona stars such as Neymar and Luis Suarez have also moved on to pastures new. Messi’s departure for PSG last summer, though, is perhaps symbolic of the turmoil it has got itself into in recent times. The trip had a telepathic understanding that hadn’t been witnessed in the beautiful game before He left because the club is in debt of around £1.1bn, and things aren’t going much better on the pitch either as they sit seventh in LaLiga and have lost two from two games in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and Benfica. Enter Ansu Fati, Pedri and Gavi. The trio, whose combined ages only add up to 53, have been dubbed the saviour of the LaLiga giants. Pedri recently signed a new deal and has a reported release clause of £1bn A technically adept, creative passer and skilled dribbler who has drawn comparisons to Iniesta in style, Pedri has all the tools to become the next midfield great at Camp Nou. The 5ft 9in youngster – still only 18 – went from an unknown to a world star within 10 months following his arrival from Las Palmas for £6.7million last year. Astonishingly, he played an 74 games during his debut season, competing in both Euro 2020 and the Olympics for Spain. Barcelona have, unsurprisingly, paid the price for the midfielder’s quite absurd amount of action, with the player ruled out of a few games with injury this season. Fati is the most attacking of the three youngsters Fati is the most attacking of the three youngsters Fati, meanwhile, who was handed Messi’s iconic number 10 shirt this season, is the most attacking player of the trio, The 18-year-old broke onto the scene in blistering fashion when he was 16 during the 2019/20 season, where he broke Messi’s long-standing record to become the youngest player to represent Barcelona in Champions League match. paulolee:True it is very opinionated, hmm your list though very predictable. |
It is the season of Ballon d'Or again., the 2021 edition. Ballon d'Or is a trophy awarded to the best individual player of the season. There are always debates and talks on who is fit to get the award. People sometimes question why there is a need for one player to be positioned as a superior every year above other players. A shortlist for the Ballon d'Or trophy was created to streamline contenders. It raised eyebrows; people questioned the judgment on why some players who deserve to be on the list did not get included. There were some inclusions on the list that came as a shock. Here is a list of players that deserve to be on the list, sadly exempted. 10. Thomas Muller Muller experiences a brief three-week spell in every season but springs back up to give a phenomenal performance. He is highly underrated and deserves to be on the list of GOAT. He contributed 30 goals last season; he will be watching the Ballon d'Or ceremony as Robert Lewandowski's plus-one this year. 9. Federico Chiesa The excuse for Chiesa not being included is a result Juventus had a poor for last season in Seria A. Regardless, the young lad had a good season. He is playing his best football right now and seems unstoppable. 8. Lorenzo Insigne Lorenzo Insigne's got in the limelight at the Euro 2020; his trademark curler goal in the quarter-final victory over Belgium put his name on many lips. He started the new season in tremendous form; Napoli is on a 100% winning record thanks to Insigne's clinical finishes; he is fit as a contender for the Ballon d'Or trophy. 7. Jan Oblak Oblak is one of the best goalkeepers worldwide but hasn't gotten a chance to prove it on the international stage He has made numerous deciding saves for Atletico Madrid, penalty spot shots included. He was a tool in the Atletico title claim in 2014. 6. Son Heung-min The Tottenham Duo, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min relationship are like Batman and Robin. They have carried Tottenham with their legs, back, and hands to show themselves as the saviors of the club. Son's 22 goals and 17 assists explained the love story between him and Kane; they broke the premier league record for the most goal contributions between two players over a single season. He deserves much higher praise by being included on the list of contenders for the Ballon d'Or trophy. 5. Luis Suarez Luis Suarez deserves the Ballon d'Or, the Uruguayan forward moved from Barcelona to Atletico. He scored 21 goals in 32 games and brought joy to Atletico Madrid by bringing the league title home. 4. Stefan de Vrij Stefan de Vrij is one of the best free transfers that football has ever seen. The Inter and Netherland defender should be held in high regard and deserves accolades for his display. 3. Edouard Mendy Edouard Mendy was nominated for the 2021 Yashin Trophy award after his remarkable performance for Chelsea last season to make them Champions of Europe. He missed out on the Ballon d'Or nomination; Donnaruma could have been his replacement. 2. Paul Pogba Paul Pogba had one of the best performances ever seen from a player on the losing side in France's Euro 2020 exit to Switzerland. He has broken the record for the most assists at the start of a Premier League campaign for Manchester United and is still roaring for more this season. He is one of the best midfielders worldwide and deserves to be on the shortlist for Ballon d'Or. 1. Joshua Kimmich The football knowledge of who created the list is in question; it is a big shock for Joshua Kimmich not to be nominated. The German international flexibility in different roles for both club and country is admirable. He is always one of the best players to watch play. It is sad, shocking, and disappointing he didn't make the top 30 Ballon d'Or 2021 nominees. SOURCE: https://baboyo.com/news

The two forwards were forced off in Wednesday night's win over Malmo but the Blues have sufficient strength in depth to deal with their absences Two injuries have shaken Chelsea following what should have been a routine, problem-free win against Malmo in the Champions League on Wednesday. First, and most concerning, was Romelu Lukaku being forced off in only the 23rd minute after a wild challenge from Lasse Nielsen. Striker partner Timo Werner was subsequently replaced in the 44th minute as a result of a painful-looking hamstring injury. Within the context of the match, it had next-to-no impact; the Blues were 2-0 up before losing their two forwards and yet still went on to win 4-0. Chelsea are one of the few clubs in world football capable of withstanding the loss of a £150 million ($207m) strike force to injury in the same game. "They will be some games out, I guess. We only had Christian Pulisic [out], we miss everybody, but we have no excuses," manager Thomas Tuchel told BT Sport after the match, with further information to come on the extent of their injuries in the coming days. Real Madrid is reportedly back in the race to sign Paul Pogba with the France World Cup winner having a huge decision to make over his future. Pogba is in the final year of his contract at Manchester United and could walk away for nothing in the summer. Pogba helped France win the Nations League last weekend United paid Juventus £89million back in 2016 – smashing the British transfer record – to bring the midfielder back to the club after he left as a teenager. He made his name in Turin, but it has been an up and downtime at Old Trafford, and may walk away again on a free transfer. There have been glimpses of his brilliance, but he has not shown that regularly as he does for France. Pogba has also fallen out with previous United managers, most notably Jose Mourinho, while his agent, Mino Raiola, has often stirred up the speculation. Read more on : https://baboyo.com/news

Real Madrid is keen on Reece James but the defender might cost them Eden Hazard and a few million in cash. CHELSEA ASK ABOUT HAZARD RETURN Having re-signed Romelu Lukaku in the summer, Chelsea is said to be looking to bring back another of their former stars… The Blues have already made inquiries over the possibility of a reunion with Eden Hazard. The Belgium winger was brilliant for Chelsea before going to Real Madrid in 2019, since when he has stunk out the Bernabeu. El Nacional reckons Roman Abramovich believes Hazard’s struggles to be just a phase and that the winger could once again recapture his best form back at Stamford Bridge. Real would be open to a deal, but perhaps not at the terms Chelsea is offering. The story goes that the Blues are only willing to pay £34million for Hazard – around a third of the fee Real stumped up a couple of years ago. There might be a compromise, though… Real need a right-back and may ask for an exchange with Reece James. Chelsea value the 21-year-old at around £38million so could demand that Real stuff Hazard’s pockets with cash before sending him back to the Bridge. Read more on: https://baboyo.com/

The Rangers defender put his poor performance on Thursday behind him to help Nigeria avenge their defeat against the Central African Republic Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen were both on target as the Super Eagles gained their pound of flesh against CAR with a 2-0 win in their 2022 World Cup qualifier in Douala. The Super Eagles had suffered a shock home defeat in the first leg of the encounter, but there was no repeat of that result at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, on Sunday. Gernot Rohr’s men started the clash on the front foot, dictating the play right from the start. But despite controlling possession, they failed to create any real chance. However, it all changed in the 29th minute when Leon Balogun, who was poor in the first leg, fired home a perfect volley from a Chidozie Awaziem cross. It was the goal the three-time African champions needed following a positive start. The Super Eagles continued to dominate possession, and it was only a matter of time before they doubled their advantage. The second goal came just before halftime as Osimhen tapped home from close range following a brilliant low cross from William Troost-Ekong. Read More: https://baboyo.com/

OluwaJohn77:They miss him, let's see how the season goes. |
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that he had hoped that Lionel Messi would’ve stayed at the club and played for free. Messi left the club on a free transfer in the summer, joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain after Barcelona were unable to pay his wages in accordance with La Liga rules. The Argentine forward joined a star-studded list of players who Barca have had to let leave due to huge financial problems. The likes of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ivan Rakitic have all left in recent transfer windows. However, Messi, a six-time Balon D’or winner, was certainly the biggest shock with the player looking likely to sign a new contract on reduced wages before league rules meant the deal was unable to be finalised. Now, Laporta was admitted that he had faint hope that the Barca legend would have remained at the Camp Nou for free. Speaking to RAC1 (via Goal), Laporta revealed: “With Messi I do not get angry because I appreciate him. I know he had a huge desire to stay, but also a lot of pressure because of the offer he had. “Everything indicates that he already had the offer from PSG. Everyone knew that he had a very powerful offer. We knew from Messi that they had a very good offer. “At no time do I think of going backwards. I think I’m doing the best for Barca. Nobody can put the institution at risk. “I did hope that at the last minute Messi would say that he would play for free. I would have liked that and he would have convinced me. I understand that the league would have accepted it. But we cannot ask that of a player of his level.” Read more on https://baboyo.com/
