Family / Re: Can A Woman Love Her Husband And Not Love His Family? by Teema4720(f): 2:46pm On Feb 09
MisterBanny:
I always kept wondering about this. I have seen many homes break as a result of marrying a woman who despises her In-laws, and treats them with levity and disdain, yet claims to love her husband genuinely.
A once happy family could be in total disarray immediately some women get into that family.
Personally, I think if u love your husband, such love should be extended to every member of his nuclear and extended family members and same goes to the Man. I believe that genuine LOVE is infectious and contagious. I have seen a lot happening In today's marriages that I'm already scared of getting married. People can pretend throughout the dating and courting period, but immediately after the wedding, the beast and monster in them begin to Manifest. It's scary.

Almost all married woman are guilty of this. But the men almost do not have any issue with Loving their wive's families.
It even gets to the ugly point that, the wife makes a decree that no menmber of the man's family must ever visit them to stay for more than a day or two.
MisterBanny pls keep quiet if you don't know what to type.

Biko don't leave your baby with someone to nurse at home o, God forbids coming back and not meeting the person shocked..

When you resume work, dress your baby well, wrap him properly and take him to work or any daycare close to your office. If there's none, Register him in your children's school. Ensure you have milk expressed and frozen in large quantities before then so that he can continue on breastmilk. All you need do is give the nanny instructions on how you want your baby to be taken care of
Thanks ma...

Good day mamas, I don port oh... Baby is 3weeks old. Pls help with suggestions... I was given 3months before I can resume work, I was thinking I could get a day care to register my baby close to my work place so I can visit and breastfeed during break periods, but where I work is a bit far from my house (two vehicles before I can get to work) can a three months old baby withstand the cold as I don't have a car yet? If I register him in my children's school that means I can only see baby by 5pm when I return, or can I get someone, a mature lady, that will nurse him at home for me until he is Abt 6month? I have a maid of Abt 20yrs but I am not comfortable leaving him with her cos I don't think she can care for him in my absence. I am really confused.

BS.... @irynky
The journey of pregnancy started very normal with little morning sickness. But compared to my other kids, this one was very ok.

We pushed tru with the stress of life until 9month.

I was really tired.... Saturday morning my water broke. I hurriedly tired up what I was doing and headed to the hospital along. Got checked... 2cm, I was told to go do exercise.
I bought plenty pineapple and trekked long distance to my house.

Contractions came on and off, by 8pm it became stronger, told hubby to get ready so we head to d clinic. Got checked againd by 10pm .... 4cm... More exercises , pains became more prolong and strong, by 2am , I got checked again.... 9cm... And the pushing started...
I delivered around 3am but placenta refused to come. Stayed another 1hr in the labour ward... Last last they had to do manual removal .... The pains was not here oh.
But in all.... I am alive, my baby boy is alive, I return all Glory to God. 2 lovely girls and a bouncing baby boy, I therefore hang booth... Wishing all belleful mothers safe delivery...

Family / Re: My Husband Doesn't Want Us To Get A House Help by Teema4720(f): 9:38am On May 12, 2023
gare2510:
Have you tried having a relative, your mother or sisters or even someone from his side come help out? Most men don'tlike outsiders taking care of their children. Again at this time you need to optimize your time do only what is necessary- washing machine vs manual, cook once a week, reduce number of times you clean the house (na person wen dey alive dey live for clean house). Get him involved in looking after the kids when he comes from work then you use the opportunity to sleep, prepare their food before that time.

When i hear ppl say your mother can come and help, or his mum can come and help or relatives etc, etc, They forget that there are some mothers that also have their businesses, and lives too. Have you considered if their mothers are free?. My Mother In-Law hardly stays up to 2 weeks anytime i put to bed becos, she has her business and secondly my father-in-law is bed ridden and she is the only person to care for him, so staying with me 1wk is a huge sacrifrice on her path.
I quiet understand what post partum stress can do to a woman because i am one but dear sis you have to:
Communicate with ur husband on this issue,
Do what you can do, No go over do
If you can foot the bills of the help, good else it complicate that if hubby is not ready to foot the bills
Prayerfully manage your help, be sensitive when you finally get one
Get household appliances that can help reduce stress: Washing machine, blender, toaster etc. There are some things i bought in my kitchen for my own good, and to help me reduce stress, oga fit no know the usefulness but as i woman, i need am.
We usually advice ladies to be financially fit for marriage because there are some things oga will delibrately refuse becos no cash, but if you offer to foot the bill he can change over night. With money there are some stress you can ease on your own.,
Good Luck!!!

Family / Re: My Husband Doesn't Want Us To Get A House Help by Teema4720(f): 3:25pm On May 10, 2023
My sister i can feel what you are feeling, i was there so i know.
My husband also never wanted me to get a house help, my kids are 6 and 2+ and i am currently heavily pregnant. I am doing a 8-5 job and my kids stay in school till 6pm when i return from work before i go pick them.
When we get home, i prepare dinner, do home work, unpack their bags, etc.
Every morning i wake by 5am, cook and start washing clothes so it would not have to pile up , then by 6am i wake the kids and prepare them for school which he drop them in school before i start getting ready for my work place. Once they leave the house by 7am, that is when i will hurridly clean the house and continue with clothes if i am not done. Those day i alway report late to work but because i am prenant, i was alway pardon. Remember i stil do market stuffs, etc, etc. My Husband comes back by 8:30pm, and by then the kids are already asleep, food is set house is arranged so he just feels "you are doing it nah, so no need for house help" I have tried to make him understand that between when we return from sch and when he comes home i go tru alot....
I was dying daily from stress, i had to stand my ground and told my husband that if i die now, he will only mourn me atmost 1yr and move on with his life, i can't kill myself. I have had to turn down many helps i saw, so if you are getting someone, you need to do it prayerfully and screen alot. If you are not working, i make it easier for you but i am working so my case was really something else.DON'T JUST BRING ANYBODY INTO UR HOME, i took a lot of time to search for months, i was searching... So pls be careful and watch before you decide if you must bring in a helper.
To cut the long story short, i got someone , but my husband said i will be the one to pay the girl, i accepted because i need help and may put to bed soonest.
My dear you own ur body, advice yourself, stress has killed a lot of people, pls make sure you don't die carelessly. Love you sis
Xerona:
Hello Nairalanders, there is an issue at hand.
I have two kids and recently gave birth to the third few months ago. It's been really difficult for me since I practically do most of the house chores... my husband is hardly around because of work.

I came down with this strange disturbing headache that doesnt go away. So I went to see a doctor and she said the headache was as a result of postpartum stress and lack of sleep.

The truth is I'm awake most of the time because of the baby or when I'm attending to other household matter. I haven't had a good sleep in a long while. So when the doctor suggested I get a house help so I can find time and sleep when shes holding the baby. I knew she she was on point. But the problem is my husband, he wouldn't hear of it, he doesn't want us to get any househelp...

I even pleaded with him and made him see reasons why I needed help, but he refused... I'm beginning to think I ended up with the wrong person because I dont understand why anyone would deliberately want to subject their wife to this kind of torture.

My kids are age 5, 2 and 3 months... I go to the market, cook, clean, i even do school run too...He's a contractor and will be travelling back to work next week.. yet he doesn't want me to get help...

Wow... Mama Congratulation, Can't wait to be off this.... To say i am tired is an understatement...
Coloredsg:
Immediately I was admitted and moved to the maternity ward. I begged them to allow me go home and carry my hospital bags, the nurses refused and told me I might deliver on the road and it was high risk cos I was carrying twins. I called hubby immediately, he had to rush down to get my things.
Around 4pm, the doctor came to check me. My vagina was opened but the babies were still having fun in my tummy. They were not ready to come out. Maybe they wanted to start school there, I don't know for them.
I still wasn't feeling any pains. Everything was normal. I even sat on the bed and was browsing twitter and Instagram. I was even chatting with my friends on WhatsApp.

Around 6pm, the pains started. Oh Lord, I was trying to be strong but I couldn't hold it anymore. I started crying. The nurses came and told me the babies are getting ready to come and I will be moved to the labor room when it becomes intense.
Around 8pm, I was moved to the labor room. 10mins later, Taiwo came out weighing 2.2kg and crying her eyes out. I felt a bit relieved.
2 mins later, kehinde followed weighing 2.2kg.
The babies were attended to and I was cleaned up.

4th Trimester
We were discharged the next day.
A brief history about my family, most of our babies have jaundice. So once a baby is born, we carry out test the next day.
Tests were carried out on taiwo and kehinde and it was discovered the had jaundice.
The doctors wanted to admit them, we refused and took our babies home.
I come from a family that believes in herbs and got married to another family that believes in herbs.
Mother in law was called and informed of the situation, she came and brought unripe pawpaw. Peeled, washed and soaked it for the babies while another herb was prepared for me which was soaked in lime. I take it every morning plus the unripe pawpaw too and the babies suck it from my breast.
Every morning, we take them out in the morning sun.
Few days later, everything started clearing from their body and their eyes turned white.
We went back to the hospital to do another test( just to confirm if the jaundice is still there or not).
The jaundice was gone. Allhamdulilah.
Everything ended in praise. Mother and the babies are doing well.
The annoying part of 4th trimester is the sleepless nights. I can't wait for this phase to pass.
Thank you all for your support and prayers.

Yes oh very soon i will be over.
indian03:

We are same.. almost 36 weeks and im already done😓😓

Hang in there. It will be over soon

Honestly if i do scan at 37/38 weeks and see that baby is almost 3.8kg..im opting for induction. Going above 40 weeks will just make baby big and the option would be CS, just like it happened to my sister today. She has been labouring at home for 5 days(bearable) untill she did scan this morning and was told the baby is 4.1kg and the head can not fit through her pelvis...second born o
