But his tracking number has CALA not GHAN, I find that a bit weird for his application
aint nothing weird about it CALA tracking number applies to study permit applications submitted online whilst GHAN tracking number applies to Paper applications.

Oga wait i did my medical before dispatch.....
Oh really, seems you did not read my post very well and guess you are not fully aware that undergoing medicals means nothing to CIC since june/july 2015, peeps get refused after medicals now but I sincerely wish your case is an approval.

Gurus in the house, your advice is urgently needed!

While I was creating my CIC account, I got to a point where I was asked if I had had a medical test performed by a CIC authorized physician within the last 12 months, and my answer was yes. When I was through creating the account, Medical/evidence of medical report was listed as one of the REQUIRED documents to be uploaded. Since the Medical report is valid for 12 months, I contacted IOM and explained the situation to them. They now sent me an E-medical form showing evidence of submission of my previous medical assessment result. It contained my IME for the previous application.

Can I upload this document?
Yep you can upload it.

O boi am confused, I just received a message on my email from Canada Visa Application Centre,

Visa application, tracking ID No.20150617GHANST-----– Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office ACCRA , on 10/08/2015 to the Canada Visa Application Centre. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website

But when I tracked it by myself on Saturday 8th August, 2015, it read that
Visa application, tracking ID No.20150617GHANST-----– Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office ACCRA , on 05/08/2015 to the Canada Visa Application Centre. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website

What is the problem
Is it that they did not approve it
No medical request before passport dispatch = Refusal.
Upfront medical or medical request before passport dispatch = Approval or Refusal for non-medical reasons (since June/July 2015).
Visit VFS Lekki to collect your documents.

Thanks Bro. I really appreciate so we should just forget about the whole application? She submitted 3 sponsors though.

Which are Uncle,mother and father.

We have been on fasting and prayer since then.
i never said you should forget the whole application and i assume you are well aware that the vast majority of applications are decided solely on documents submitted without an interview, i was only trying to highlight some questions that may arise as her application is being reviewed because stating someone else as your mother on a form instead of your biological mother (who you claim is sponsoring you) raises a lot of doubt and questions. we all make mistakes and so hopefully a VO who is lenient might just overlook it and not read much meaning to it whilst some might see it otherwise.

Is anyone experiencing same?does anyone have an insight as per what is going on?
The present trend seem to indicate CIC Accra is prioritising study permit applications for resumption in universities at the moment whilst a lot of college applicants are yet to be decided for now, whichever of the above you may be, i urge you to remain patient still. The worse case scenerio is that if your application is not processed in time for september resumption because of no late resumption in your school, it will be processed for january resumption and you may (or may not ) be asked for an updated admissions letter from your school.

Hello bosses in the house.

My cousin made an error application form.
Her mother is her sponsor.

All documents carried her mum name including bank statement and letter of attestation and sponsor letter. Her dad also submitted same as second sponsor though her had seperate some years back.

Inside the family form she mistakenly wrote her step mum name in place of her mother and she never mentioned she had any step mum on the rest of the documents.

It was after submission infact on the day of her biometric that I gone through her documents and spotted that error please house could this affect her application in any way?

Please we need your advice house.

God bless you in advance as you help out a soul.

Thanks
New information cannot be added after submission except a VO requests for additional information from you, a VO would definitely wonder how you can forget to state your mother's name who is infact sponsoring you on the family form and name someone else (stepmother) it is rather odd and brings doubt as to the veracity of her claims as the sponsor being her real mother. You can only pray the VO has an open mind and if need be ask for clarification (eg Birth Certificate) or the mother's documents included with the application would adequately communicate that she is indeed her mother.

I am new here, got admitted to algonquin college, I applied for my TRV in 2012 but was refused based on finance, I reapplied in June and was refused based on the fact that the consular was not convinced I will return after my study and also that I didn't state I was initially refused. I just came across this thread and would like to learn more as I plan to reapply by month end as I was told I can reapply if able to address the reasons for refusal as indicated. Could anyway be of help?
You can start by stating documents used in both refused applications. I am sure helpful peeps would like to know why you did not indicate your UCI number and refusal reasons from your prior application in the most recent application.

Thank you. Its just that there few frequent travellers around where I stay. Incase I do not see one then i'll use the weight scale.@lol chris incase I have excess luggage i'll transfer some into your bag!
A well calibrated weight scale will do just fine, allow for 1-2kg off what you get from the weight scale, only bring things you think you'll actually use in Canada and not just about everything in your room + some naija food items. regardless of what you bring with you, note that shopping in Canada for some items is inevitable and you will still need to do that at some point.

it is not same thing bruv. Each bag has to weigh 23kg or less. If it is over 23kg in a bag get another bag and transfer some items into it and ensure it weighs same as stated above.

Hello house, please if my parent are not my sponsor do I need a consent letter from my parents stating they consent my aunt shld/can sponsor me?
Adults (18+) do not need a consent letter from their parents. However, if you are less then 18 you are considered a minor and need one. As your aunt is sponsoring you and not your parents implore her to explain why she is sponsoring you and state exactly how much she will make available to you for your studies and upkeep in her sponsorship letter as well as showing a bank statement + assets which covers your total costs + extra to meet her own personal needs.

Thanks for the suggestion, but you won't understand my case unless I explain. smiley UoR's tuition fee for my prog alone is CAD16,000 against COTR's CAD9,200.

As a self-sponsor who has applied for TRV before with non designated college grin for a professional course of a year prog (ACCA) and got to the stage of interview and medical call; then I feel I still stand a chance if I apply again with a designated college(COTR)which I can easily show proof of my financial capability to pursue the course, compare to UoR which will take me 4years to complete with little chance to show that I can fulfill the financial obligation of CAD26,000 p/a. (Even if I am practically capable to support myself, it's a huge task to prove it with paperworks) cheesy

So, my plan: Apply with COTR's LOA and if you get TRV to go to COTR, go to COTR if you like and if you don't like, go to UoR.
the diploma at COTR is it at postgraduate level? if you can pls get a co-sponsor to lend more credence to your application. @marcuskens was a self sponsor as well see if there are similarities and all the best in your application.

Who is in BC, going to BC or have first hand information about the province? Got admission for UG prog. at Univeristy of Regina, SK and Diploma at College of the Rockies, BC I wanna apply for TRV with COTR's Letter of Acceptance.
I heard it's always rainy day in BC cheesy
I would advise you apply using the university of regina admission to increase the chances of approval. You can always switch to COTR if that is your preferred option when you get to Canada.

Can anybody be kind here to put me through the various types available and my budget i dont have enough money for student visa cos i'll be funding myself all through and am not a yahoo boi btw. So ur advice *any abbreviation attributed could pls be well detailed the first mention*

2. The rate at which applicants have been successful for each means.

3. Any disclaimer inform of advice, warnings and live experience would be more appreciated

Thanks as i look forward to read from you guyz....Nairaland has always been my last resort for sourcing information and i'll like to be attended to in a mature manner. Who knows we might just have quite alot of benefit waiting to be unlocked and shared...Thanks guyz
what you are asking is kinda broad bruv you may or may not get responses as some peeps would get the impression that you are lazy and waiting for others to do even the basics for you, but what i will suggest is, you should make an effort to visit www.cic.gc.ca to read up on the various visa categories and it's requirements then return to this thread to ask more specific questions with regards to a visa category you've decided to apply for which fits your budget.

Please who knows the exchange rate of Stanbic / Diamond bank on an ATM is Canada.

How far does it differ from the Standard Internet Rate of NGN 152.9

This information is vital please.
The exchange rate of Naira to Canadian Dollars, US Dollars, GBP, Euro etc are determined by market forces on a daily basis which greatly influences what Mastercard or Visa or American Express etc will in turn use to determine the exchange rate for the day. So when you use your Visa or Mastercard on an ATM abroad three things are applicable.
1. The exchange rate for the day as set by Mastercard or Visa
2. The minimum currency conversion rate/charge of 2.5%
3. The ATM international withdrawal charges.

Please Note that 1,2 and 3 are subject to change at any time but 2 and 3 are determined by the bank which issued your Visa or Mastercard and varies from one bank to another. So if I make a withdrawal in Canada with Diamond Bank Visa card as an instance.
1 - Will be determined by Visa
2 - Will be 8% (as stated in the last newsletter i recieved from Diamond Bank)
3 - Will be NGN 240.
Finding out the currency conversion rate is always tricky as not all Nigerian Banks state what it is. It is only Diamond that has so far informed me of the increase from 2.5% to 4.5% and then from 4.5% to 8% via it's newsletter other banks i use did not say a word. So best stick with either Stanbic or Diamond as they have favourable currency conversion rates for now.

When you submit your application and you are called for biometrics, within how many days must the biometric be done?
You have 30 days from the date you submit your application online to provide your biometrics at a CVAC or VFS office. If you read your biometrics letter thoroughly the exact date the 30 days will elapse is stated on it.

You do not need to make any payment to Lambton if you are not going to attend the school but ensure you are fully admitted by Red River College before you inform CIC of your change of school with new DLI number via your MyCIC account.

Is your Diamond account current or savings cos I was told I can't transfer online from Diamond savings. I can only see my balance
As you are still in Nigeria visit a Diamond Bank Branch with your International Passport request to upgrade your Diamond savings a/c to Diamond Xtra a/c. Download the Diamond Bank Mobile App follow the registration instructions and you would be able to make transfers from your phone without the need for online transfers with a bank token device. However, if you would rather have a token device for online transfers you can request for one @ cost of NGN1,500.

I now understand after reading from Part 5 of this thread that the level of program might be a problem
But can I change course now? I'm afraid I'll seem desperate.
I've searched several schools in many provinces and there is no higher level for insurance courses,
Don't be too much in a hurry to re-apply take the time to assess the reasons highlighted for the refusal and work towards fixing them. i found a postgraduate program in insurance which is higher than a diploma and it took me less than a minute to find it, you can review it to see if it interest you and besides it is 8 months (1 year including holidays) as well and starts January 2016, going away from your family for 2 years when it is not a Masters degree was equally a tough sell to the VO as well especially given your years of work experience.

Yes, you are right
The visa I have now is for visit though multiple entry
It does not permit me to work or study

I visited the school in Canada last year, they told me I could apply from within, by posting my documents to Los Angeles but I thought it wiser to return home and apply from Ghana cos I couldnt just give up my job when I didn't what the outcome of the application would be.
Now I'm not sure what my next move should be
The level of program which you chose is what affected your application. Try to apply for a program of higher academic level than a diploma to increase your chances when re-applying and leverage the fact that you have visited Canada and returned to Ghana because you are married as well in your Letter of Explanation in your next application.

This is my first post, I chanced upon this site after I had put in an application for study permit and I have just been refused today. Right now, I'm devastated...

Your statements are contradictory. How exactly did you obtain your valid TRV that will expire in 2018?

Accra immigration just replied my mail now saying; Hello, thanks for the update. Our record has been amended.
I checked my CIC account and saw that 'your action is required' has changed to 'updated' but status hasn't changed to 'medical passed'.
Pls, has anyone seen this kind of mail?
updated means they acknowledge they've now gotten your medicals and after they've reviewed it your status will be updated accordingly to reflect what the contents of your medical report says.

Thank you very much @ teesboy...
So that leaves me with these.....
*purpose of visit
* length of proposed stay in canada
*family ties in canada and place of residence
Which I find rather laughable cos my admissions letter to go for a pgd program.... evidence of payment for full tuition etc was attached to the application.
I ve been trying to wrap my head around what the vo was thinking......but keep hitting a brick wall...
House pls help out....
Purpose of Visit + Length of Stay
Yes you made payment of tuition but that is not a guarantee of approval, moreso when the payment is for a program which the VO thinks does not represent academic progression or closely related to your UG program. In your case your PG program at least shows progression but how well your UG program relates to your PG program in the eyes of the VO is the issue, that's what they assess first and not if you have paid quarter or half or full tuition, tuition payment becomes relevant when VO is doing financial assessment after you have met purpose of visit assessment. I would always advise peeps pick a 8month to 1 year PG program after your BSc if you cannot get admitted for a Masters program. I am not saying peeps don't get approved for 2year Diploma or Advanced Diploma after BSc but for higher chances of success and not refusal for purpose of visit + length of stay and lesser financial pressure on the bank statement that's why i suggest PG or Masters.

hello all,
Ok....so after weeks of suffering emotional and nervous breakdown from the delay by cic am glad to say I am back....
So I need the house to help me out on the issues raise....
1st is the travel history! How do I tackle this for my next refire....
you need to calm down bruv and pull yourself from the brink of total emotional and nervous breakdown, a refusal is not the end of the world. there is little or nothing you can do about travel history as you cannot claim a destination you have not been to, even peeps with travel history still get refused with travel history as one of the reasons which makes you wonder what the VO's are doing, likewise peeps who have never been out of nigeria on brand new passports get approved even without travel history. When your purpose of visit + finances + home ties are not convincing be rest assured travel history will most likely be an added bonus refusal reason more like if you get 1 or more refusal reasons you get travel history for free. Sort out the other reasons for refusal and watch the VO approve your application even without the so called travel history.

I dont know for Canada o, but I know a couple of Countries that might send you back right from the port of entry, in fact the first thing that would be required of you is your passport and return ticket. Then I doubt if the airline will even board you in Naija sef, because if something goes wrong with your documents and there's need to be deported, the bills would be on the airline, so they take so much caution for first time travelers. However, you may book one way after the first entry, if you have any cause to leave the country. I stand to be corrected though, as I don't know so much about Canada!
A student can procure a one way ticket even as a first time traveler usually it's peeps on a visitors visa that MAY be required to show a valid return ticket.

If you should have done your biometrics by latest 10th July 2015 which implies your application was submitted 9th June 2015 then I am sorry to inform you that your application will be refused outright for not complying with the mandatory biometric requirement to start processing your study permit application. The fact that for a full calender month your so called agent did not call you to confirm that you've seen his email and done the biometrics quite frankly says all you need to know about him and either he is absolutely clueless or you have been duped. You need to re-coup what you can from him but i doubt you'll get all your money back. What you can do now is start by deferring your admission to January and let peeps here help you with the rest, coming to this thread is the best decision you've made so far and hopefully your application will be a success.

I will be going to Bible college in Canada. And I was asked to come along with my family, my question is,

Is it possible to get visa approval for student going with his family?
What are the procedures involved in family application?
Do I have to pay extra fees for family app?

Looking forward to hear from you guys soon.
If the bible college is not providing evidence that they will cater for your family then that responsibilty will be your cross to bear, you would be required to provide a bank statement showing enough money to take care of you and your family as well as flight tickets to and back from Canada and you will pay all application fees and medicals fees for you and all your family members also you will show that you all intend to return after the bible college program

As a student with effect from 1 June 2014, you no longer have to apply for a work permit seperately, just present your passport with a valid TRV and Letter of Introduction (if you have it) to the immigration officer at the port of entry and a study permit with the conditions for work (20hrs term time and work till you faint during holidays lol) will be issued to you.
