The reason you gave why your uncle is sponsoring you is not convincing at all. Try to come up with something rather than this generalize public used statement that everyone says. Just be unique with your answers. Read past transcripts. tarantino1: Someone please criticize my transcript.
Could the fact that my program start on March 3rd also be a reason? |

Yeah @time2win is right. I think family ties had an influence. Just like the transcript of the lady that has her husband in the US but she emphasized she's not gonna be staying with him, but in, I think the school's residence cos she's coming in strictly for studies, that worked for her. You may have to show independent responsibility for your stay.

Someone please criticize my transcript.

A very interesting and kinda weird reason why you chose the school. You know, talking about race is very sensitive in your circumstances. It can be misinterpreted because of how sensitive it is right now in the US. You can't limit your reason as to why this school to “public Health problems of black people and health problems of African Americans and the close genetics with the blacks of Nigeria”. then you also found historically black Universities. It was too streamlined and limited for an interview. Imagine if your VO was white, u think he would approve you? I know you have passion for healthcare of the black population but when preparing for your next interview, don't lay too much emphasis. Read past transcripts and see how it was drafted to suit. Apart from research, add community services your school is involved in which will be beneficial to you. Restructure and fire back, you have all it takes to achieve this already. iPLEXUS: Visa denied 4th of December Abuja I was interviewed by a black guy probably in his 40s Profile: WES : 3.26 GRE : 309 it wasn’t required eventually Program MPH Admits. 1. University of Illinois Springfield(no scholarship COA for first year $35,000) 2. University of North Carolina Charlotte ( no scholarship COA $41,568) 3. Western Illinois University( 5000 ICS deficit $18,000 but admission letter was MPH, i-20 came with health teacher education which I wouldn’t be able to defend in the interview hence my decision not to go there) 4. Jackson State University Jackson Mississippi (No scholarship COA $18756) I picked Jackson State University
Me: Good morning Vo: pass me your documents VO: How long is this program for Me: Two years VO: How did you pick this school Me: I was looking for a program with extensive research works on the public health problems of blacks, I did a google search and I found historically black universities. After going through the list and browsing the webpage of the programs, I picked Jackson State university because of the extensive research works there on the health problems of African Americans and the close genetics with the blacks of Nigeria. I am also interested in the research works of Prof. Marinelle Payton and gratefully she was made my academic advisor when I got my acceptance letter. VO: (Types for a while) Tell me about your educational background Me: I hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree, I graduated in 2019. I did extensive undergraduate work in medicine, surgery and community medicine/public Health and the experiences have prepared me for graduate level studies in Public Health. VO: Who is funding this Me: My father is funding it and he has made the funds available to me VO: What does your father do Me: He is a director with a federal government ministry in Abuja which I told him VO:Where do you work Me: I work at the federal medical center in Bleep VO: How long have you been working Me: since September 2019 VO: are you married Me: No VO: Do you have kids Me: No VO: have you traveled outside Nigeria before Me: No, never had a reason to Vo: I have reviewed your application and find you ineligible at this time, this paper will explain to you No documents were requested except i-20 and passport Reason why funds are personal; I will share for clarity, I am a doctor and my dad wants me to practice but I have my own plans to travel. When I told him my intention to go for masters, he wasn’t pleased but instead insisted on helping me set up my private practice here in Nigeria. I couldn’t convince him so I accepted his initial funds of about $25,000 and decided to follow my dreams and I have my own savings of about $8000. That’s why all the funds are personal. What could be the problem, what can I improve on. |

Congratulations. Wish you well in your new endeavor thedsl: Visa Approved at Lagos Consulate.
Interview was pretty short and here goes:
Me & VO at the same time: Hi, Good morning. VO: Pass me your I-20 and passport. (Sevis receipt was there too)
VO: So where are you going? Me: I’m going to the University of Iowa for my PhD in ***
VO: Oh really? Tell me about your course. Me: Honestly I lost focus here and started talking plenty. Lool. He even cut me short. Chai.
VO: How do you intend to pay for your studies? Me: I have a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend. (I actually have a small deficit ($487) but I was advised to wait till I’m asked before volunteering the usual “and the deficit will be paid for by my mum” information) He never asked and I didn’t say a word though I had bank statement with me.
VO: (Looks at his screen; I guess my DS160 is where he got the info from) Oh you’re a Dentist? Me: Yes, please.
VO: How long have you been a dentist? Me: Mentioned.
VO: So what have you done since then? Me: I have since completed my internship (Housejob) and one year Nysc.
*Types for what felt like eternity. Hovers his hand over the green paper on his table and I’m like OH HELL NOOOOO. Then his hand lands on the white paper. LOL.
VO: I intend to issue your visa.. be ready in one week... bla bla. I wasn’t even listening again at this point lol.
Special thanks to everyone on this platform. The least I could do is come back and post my transcript. I skipped course details on purpose but I’m happy to give my full details to anyone who needs. I had actually been denied before (B1/B2) so I was a bit worried about that but it all worked out well. Word of advice: Look the VO right in the eye and speak your truth! Pray too, He listens. Cheers, guys.
P. S: Can we still travel with electronic I-20? |

Yellow fever test is not needed for US. then for covid test, check with your airline and transit airport covid regulation. US airport will screen u but to be safer, just have your test results for 3 days before you travel Inzaghi04: Do you know if the covid19 test is necessary? What about yellow fever test. |

If you travel before 30days, they will bounce you back at JFK airport. With the covid pandemic now, they are strict with entry. ayofag: Hi guys. I need your assistance with this. How can a student with an F1 visa resume about 3 months to the start of his program because his supervisor wants him to participate in a training exercise just as an opportunity before his program start date. Meanwhile, the rule states that a student can only travel 30 days to the beginning of his program. Thank you |

Thank you Nairaland Family for inspiring me greatly with your knowledge and experiences. I am a silent reader and I studied this thread like a bible with a jotter and pen from Part 13. I enjoyed both the life transforming knowledge and all the quarrels and arguments Visa Approved on the 24th Oct and Passport collected 28th Oct 2019 Graduated with a degree in Microbiology, 2015 Refused study visa 3 times in Canada and the last refusal was March 2019. This was my first application to the US, University of New Haven. Masters in chemistry for winter 2020 No Gre No TOEFL No IELTS Sponsor: Uncle with different surname Interview time: 6:45am. Lagos, I got to the embassy around 5:25am, I saw lot of people already, some even dressed like they just woke up from sleep and some looked like they were just going to greet the VO who is their relative hahahahaha, NOTE: please you must dress well and look smart, imagine you are going for an interview in a bank, how will you dress? not necessarily suit which looks too formal and common. I wore a well starched collarless coffee brown long-sleeves tucked in my light brown chinos trouser with a suede brown shoe. Please don't cut your hair a day to interview, do it like 3 days to, the looks is different. I even did facial massage, use cucumber to remove eye bags and i will drinking lots of water to have white eyes and hydrated skin. I prepared all round sha. I went in well equiped. After I did all the bio metrics stuff, I finally entered the interview hall, I was consciously looking for the black american ladies people talked about here but I didnt see them. All VOs were white male. I was interviewed by a young VO in window 1, the window by the entrance door and he approved 4 persons before me but questioned them alot. VO: Good morning Me: Hi Good morning, good to see you (cheerfully) VO; Good to see you too ( with a surprise look) VO; passport and i20 Me: sure (gave him). He typed for few mins VO: Where are you going to me: I am going for a research masters degree in chemistry with conc. in drug discovery chemistry at the UNH, Connecticut. VO: why this schoool Me: A lot of reasons made me choose UNH but for the purpose of this interview I’ll enumerate just 4; Firstly, I am very keen and interested in research; and I have a passion for cancer treatment, the chemistry department is currently conducting a research in collaboration with Yale University Scientist and cancer center. This research is focused on laboratory synthesis of natural product and their analogues, polyoxygenated and heterocyclic compounds for the design of drug molecules like antibacterial and anticancer chemotherapeutic agent. The motivation is to discover and develop new approaches, new vaccines and new drug delivery systems and integrating them with experiment into chemical materials like green catalyst and cancer drug to improve survival rate of adult diagnosed with leukemia. (cut in) VO: How many university did you apply to ME: Western Illinois University, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. VO: who is you sponsor ME: my uncle VO: what does he do ME: He is a renowned financial economist and the chief financial officer and partner of the bleep and treasurer of the bleep bleep. VO: do you have your reciprocacy fee here? VO: yes i do the rest was history I noticed the VO kept reading my D120 form in his system, NOTE: what you fill in your D120 form is very important and it determines your approval or refusal already, the interview seems to, just come and confirm perhaps with evidence what is on your D120 form. Please fill your form online yourself like i did and screen shot or write important information like dates and figures on a paper so you wont forget after you had submitted your form. Mehn I fasted and prayed oh, even took 14 days to my interview off work. Miracles are real, if not for anything it boosted my confidence and i was alert. I knew who ever will interview me will approve me. Dont talk too fast or too slow, demonstrate with your hands and use a passionate expression on your face like I did for study of cancer, because its killing our people everyday Prepare your transcript and act it like home video. I felt like an actor rehearsing for a shot. God is the ultimate joor, nobody can tell me otherwise. Its my experience. REMEMBER: Pray it into existence and work it into existence. God bless you all. |

@Jnyuwa02 my guy I need your assistance seriously. I am about reapplying the 3rd time now. I have being trying to contact you but to no avail. Hw can i reach u? This is now emergency pls jnyuwa02: There is a difference between asking for reconsideration and an appeal. An appeal means filing at a federal court in Canada. It is extremely difficult to win. If you win an appeal, the chances that a VO would honor a federal court's decision is 98 percent. The only reason a VO would not honor a federal court's decision is if the won appeal was only asking them to reconsider the application again and make a new decision. A reconsideration on the other hand, is simply asking CIC (Accra) via email to reconsider a decision it previously made based on an error of fact or law or evidence that you submitted but you believe was overlooked. Sometimes they reconsider a past decision and grant if they see evidence that you submitted but was overlooked or simply just information that you submitted but was overlooked. Or if there is any interpretation of law and they applied the law wrongly, if you can show them how, they will grant you. It is much easier to win reconsideration than an appeal. I will advice people to seek reconsideration than an appeal to a federal court which takes much more time and money. |

Beyy... concerning family ties in canada, did u tell them in any of your applications that you had any 1 that stays in canada? Beyy: My story is a long one but ill summer it
1st application was made in October 2016. I was denied based on purpose of visit, current employment situation, travel history and personal and financial asset 2nd application was made in january and was denied in march for insufficient funds, travel history and family tie in canada and country of residence.
I ordered for my gcms note for tge 2nd application and the vo said most of the funds I showed were in form of asset and not easily accessible.
3rd application was made on the 5th of June, my status didn't change, I had an opportunity to go to uk on a scholarship and I sent a withdrawal of application mail to cic on the 14th of August. On the 15th of August cic requested for additional docs ie proof of prepayment of tuition...though I attached my tuition fee receipt in my application so I was wondering why they still asked for it. I however sent it to them. On the 16th of August, Accra sent a mail on the 16th in reply to my withdrawal request that a decision has been made on my application. I checked my account immediately nd saw nothing. Checked again on the 17th and even earlier today and saw nothing until around 6pm , my account was updated and it was an approval.
God is really faithful. He has given me the best birthday gift ever cos today is my birthday!!!!!
Only Jesus can do it ooooo...it can only be God cos my application was actually forgotten
Success to all TRV hopefuls. Cheers |
