Nurses and other healthcare professionals should be held to very high standards because they control people's lives. However, there's no scientific evidence that shows that the drug administered by this nurse was done with malicious intent.

More so, it's not been proven that it is the medication that killed this dying man other than the word of another incompetent doctor who's probably just blaming this poor nurse because the victim was a senator. Besides, nurses carry-out or administer what Doctors prescribe. Nurses don't determine dosage, it is the Doctors that do and that is where the responsibility lies.

Consequently, this nurse should be released from prison because there is no criminal offence on his part. He was only giving medications prescribed by the Doctor in Charge.

That said, if the family of the senator see cause to seek restitution for wrongful death, they can sue the hospital that employed the nurse for wrongful death and their complaints to the courts may range from failure of management, improper training or supervision, to just about any reason that could have led to the death of the victim.

In that case, the family of this senator should really be targeting the insurance company of the hospital, not the nurse (except the nurse has insurance) as the insurance company, on behalf of the hospital or clinic, has ability to pay for the loss.

Let us remember that when Obasanjo's wife, Stella Obasanjo, died on the table of surgery in Spain, the Police or some Judge in Spain did not lockup or jail the Doctor in question without proof of wrongdoing. Again, jailing this nurse is punishment for a crime that has not been proven to haven occurred and as such, it is unjust!

The nurse has been his personal care giver for a long time before the incident that claimed his life.
The nurse usually visit the senator at home, outside of an hospital setting. Hence your assumption that he was only following a doctors prescription is also wrong.
Anything could have killed him, but the nurse was the person who administered intravenous drugs on him at the senator's house as they usually do prior to his death.

I am a doctor and I know what obtains in terms of health care delivery in some states in Nigeria.
Lagos isn't there yet but definitely has attained heights that other state needs to set as goal. In terms of manpower, level of organization and maintenance of facilities, They are better than most states in dis Country.

Pls get malaria and typhoid (widal reaction) done. Also note that antibiotic resistant by salmonella is of major concern in Africa and South East Asia. Hence you will definitely still need to report at a health facility for proper diagnosis and treatment and remember to discuss your concern from previous treatment with whoever will manage you.

where and when was a toxicology or drug screening done that determined that he had overdoses of those drugs he mentioned or has his own pathology evolved to that of knowing drugs just by dissecting a corpse and viewing d blood vessels,kidneys and liver?
Drug and toxicology screening is a further specialized branch of autopsy,carried out by highly specialized labs and takes at least 2weeks for d results to come out and more if d screening is not definitive.
I am not sure there is a lab in Nigeria that performs such screening,particularly wen analgin,banned for several years is involved.

So you meant this pathologist will gladly offer his fellowship for scrutiny by coming out with a toxicology report that was never done.
The real issue is you who could not call or send a correspondence to the pathologist as to where the toxicology test was carried out.
Besides if you have taken your time to reflect before rushing to comment, you would have realize it is more than 2 weeks since the autopsy was carried out.
Just in case you are wondering, South Africa has labs that offers such services.
