About Promises

I produce household sanitary products like liquid soap, Izal,airfreshner, etc.

Not long ago, I landed a supply contract with a reputable company. Because it was my first time doing business with them, they didn’t give any mobilization. That meant I had to raise the full capital myself before the deadline.

In the course of a casual chat, I mentioned my struggle to one of my customers the CEO of a hotel. I didn’t ask him for help. But he jumped up immediately and said, “I will fund it. Just issue me a post-dated cheque with 10% added.”

I was overjoyed. With the weight of providing for my family and the pressure of the business, this contract felt like a major breakthrough for us.

Two weeks to the deadline, I called him. He assured me, “Come when it’s time to buy.”
One week later: “I have you in mind. Come in 2 days to pick the cash.”

On Tuesday, the agreed day, he said, “Send your account details. I’ll transfer tonight.”
I even asked him directly, “Sir, if you can’t, please tell me now.”
He said, “I am very capable.”

That night I checked my account over 100 times. Nothing.
Wednesday I called “I’m coming from Aba with the cash. Come to the office in the evening.”
I got there by 6pm. I called till 8pm. He never picked.

The deadline was Saturday. It was too late to raise money elsewhere,as said by all the people I reached out to.
I went home and sat with my kids and we all cried.

Just like that, I lost the chance to become a major distributor for that company.

It broke me. I was at suicidal,The only thing that stopped me was thinking of my kids how would they cope? The person who linked me to the company also had his reputation damaged.

Till today, I’m still struggling to build and blaming myself for trusting a mortal, But I thank God for His grace and for life.

My plea:
If you can’t keep a promise, please don’t make it.
Silence is better than false hope.
If you truly want to help someone, keep quiet and surprise them

Don't worry

God would bring another opportunity for greatness to you.

We have experienced this before when we were younger.. It was even an uncle but he never came through for us.

I have learnt to always have many backup especially when it comes to money worst case. I would return money.

It is painful but keep faith alive and move forward

Please i need help with my Honda Civic 2008, Some times in the morning when we start the vehicle and engage the gear, it have this very rough jerking, and when this happens during movement you would notice a bit of jerking when the gears are changing. However, once movement have being made for like 10 mins thereabout and the engine is restarted, everything go smoothly. No jerking, change between gears is very smooth.

We have scanned it and there are no codes. The oil is well guaged.. its a on and off thing.. Maybe once or twice in a week.

Please help

the union will always push for workers rights and salary increase

your average nigerian business owner will do everything n his power to kill union because it means he can then sack workers at will, refuse to increase salaries and nothing will happen.

a google search does not show dangote employees as high salary earners.

others are watching to see how they can also implement same.

i saw a situation where a company lost money and after promising no one would be sacked, mgt canned several non union worker. they gave them i think one or two month severance and that was it. if they had been in union the mgt would have had to negotiate an exit package

you will never understand the need for a union until you are 10 - 15 years in your career. before then mgt can sweet talk you with bs about how union is useless archaic and adds no value.

the biggest irony i recall is how a former ceo was exited with 10m severance. [he had always been a contract staff - and proud of it ] two years later his direct subordinate, who had been a full staff and party of union before elevation to mgt was exited with a package of over 80m

Exactly what i thinking in my head... its a long road ahead for PENGASSAN..

This has being my ultimate fear.. Africans are very stubborn people.. If you look at most of the O & G where the white has left.. the welfare has really nose dive..

I hope people would understand what you saying.. because union is what has made the O&G sector very lucrative even with the ardent risk associated with it.

You see that last part eh.. Some of them do it in order to be in the good face of the mgmt... It can be very funny the mamagement would make bad decisions and expect the downliners pay for the consequence and the funny thing is, if it come to light they would be most beneficiary.

This is a quote I got for a gypsum board ceiling. I see it as being weird with the amount of bags of PoP in the quote. I was expecting to see profiles and some other materials needed for Gypsum board. The person looking over the site don’t want me to have the direct contact of the person that drew this quote (Person that will do it) I feel they want to go ahead to do a PoP instead of a Gypsum ceiling being that I’m not around and I might not know what was done. Is there a way I can get a rough estimate of materials needed for Gypsum board ceiling considering the square meter (519) involved so that I can confront them with the materials that will be needed?.

Why would someone make a decision on your behalf on your property?

The Equitu Fund I invested in using CardinalStone. I noticed the return as at today from about 2 weeks or so when I invested is more than if I have done MMF.

If not cos majority of my capital is marked for something, would have risked it for about 1 month on Equity funds..
