I really don't know anymore, i just did my budget for the month and i am scared, i have cut from everywhere possible and i fear for my self.. i dont have a GF, Wife, Children.. my salary is N400,000 and i have added side businesses and one or two's to even survive.. but with this fuel increase, what else is left... zero savings..

- Rent - N108,333/mth (1,300,000/12)
- Fuel for car - N180,000 (36k for 5-6days)
- Auto maintenance - N30,000/mth (service/repair)
- Fuel for generator - N50,000/mth (20ltr/wk)
- Feeding - N62,000 - (N2,000/day)
- Health miscellenous - N5,000/mth
- Dstv - N4,500/mth
- Data - N7,000/mth
- Recharge card - N3,000/mth
- Dry cleaner - N4,000/mth (Starch/iron)
- Hygiene maintenance - N10,000 (body spray/perfume, roll on, soap, cream) etc..
-  Gift to people - N10,000/mth
-  Family House contribution - N20,000/mth
- Eko electric - N10,000/mth
- repairs and maintenance - N12,000/mth
- Clothing, footwear etc - N10,000/mth
- Outings, restaurant, sit outs and provisions - N30,000/mth

Total = N556,500...

My rent is average rent for where i stay, its a two bed flat, i use the other room for home office..

Feeding is N2,000/day.. its not anything out of the ordinary.. tried cooking and spent more with time wasting.

Fuel for car is at the new rate of N500/ltr, my car is a 70ltr car tank..

Auto maintenance is basic brake pads, shocks, service 2mths, tire guage, police pr, tire purchase if any, minor touch ups etc... nothing major.

Fuel for generator is 20ltr/day (2hrs or less daily)

I need help.... how are you people doing it, what am i doing wrong? The rat race is killing me..

I use Solar alone. Incase u plan on changing urs with AC. D inverter has 30a AC charger

And you are advising him to buy Tubular...where will he buy it from? Considering the rate of battery counterfeit, i think if anyone is recommending any battery brand here, s/he should follow up the recommendation with a reliable source. Even Simba discontinued the sales of Luminous tubular batteries at some point. If that guy wants to use lead acid, he should just go to Idyllic and buy fullriver battery with peace of mind. I use it and it is serving me. If anyone recommends any, a reliable source wouldn't be out of place.

I use crown Ricco inverter n it handles heavy load 5n. Fan doesn't kick in until u av up to 50% load on it plus d fan is not loud, the transfer inside is toroidal. The 2.5kva variant is around 130/140k 3.5kva is 170k. The surge rating is 3x the actual inverter rating. It has MCB built on the AC input n output. The idle power consumption is less than 30w.. 26-28w thereabout. It has 30a AC charger as well. I don't use the AC charge so I don't no aw good that part of the inverter is. Aside that, every other thing is ok.

So, when charging one unit of this battery, I will want to ensure that the combined charge current from the charging source(s) does not exceed 32A. I don't know whether this rate would remain the same or double for a parallel or series connections, respectively. Perhaps more experienced folks here can advise.

I feel you, bro. Life hard naturally. But life in Nigeria is exceptionally hard. Just take comfort in the several months of convenience you have enjoyed from your system and future benefits you will get as well. It cannot be compared with the wahala of running generator.

It is also a very good idea to go solar. With properly sized and positioned panels and a good charge controller as well, your batteries would begin charging as early as 6:45 - 7am, once the faintest ray of sunlight emerges.

Dont wait till you have all the money to go solar. Start buying the components gradually because their prices are on steroids and yeasts - they rise everyday! 6mm3 cable wey I buy 900/yard last year, i nearly got a heart attack when they quoted 1,600/yard in Arena a few weeks back. And you will need several yards.

You can reach me also for a budget but effective MPPT controller that comes with a complementary DC breaker

Depends on choice though a separate charge controller will mean if anything goes wrong in the inverter the CC will still be in operation.
Inbuilt is cheaper as no extra casing is needed, some can take very high input voltage from the panel and requires lesser cable connections

Apologies for late response, bro.

No, you don't need to disconnect anything at all. Most stand-alone chargers come with an alligator clip, so you will just clip it on your battery terminals very easily. Even madam can clip it in your absence...

From my experience, both the inverter and standalone charger can charge your batteries at the same time. But you have to ensure you the charging amps from both devices don't exceed the recommended max charging Amps of your batteries. Thankfully, most chargers feature a knob through which you can set the charging amps pushed into the batteries.

When both devices are used in charging your batteries, your batteries charge faster up until when the inverter indicates battery full (usually around 13.0v for a 12v connection), then the voltage of the batteries climbs a little slower as only the charger will continue the charging till your battery gets full and floats.

But from my own experience, inverters favour under-charging of batteries with the consequences that your batteries gets starved overtime. Even when your inverter indicates your batteries as being full, if you connect a good external charger with 3-stage charging, your batteries will continue charging, implying that were not fully charged as indicated by your inverter.

Your best bet is to get an external charger and also go solar like you have decided. For the charger, you could get the 40a Suoer charger. I use it for my 2 fullriver batteries and it eorks well

If it is confirmed that the charging function of your inverter is bad, i can connect you to someone who can repair it for you.

Please i have a 2KVA 24V Genus Proton Inverter, I noticed it stopped charging my batteries up to 26V - 27V, At some point it would not go beyond 25V. Now it does not even charge the batteries at all. It comes on but just shows overload trip even with no load on it.

I use 2 nos of 200A 12V Gel deep cycle batteries

Can the inverter be repaired?
Can any one help recommend some one who can?
I also want to install 4 nos of 300W solar Panels, Any ideas what i need to look out for?
