Well said Lady M! ladymarshall: Haha! Is anything worthwhile ever easy? I think that going is the easiest part sef. PPR is only the beginning. Living, settling and getting a job in Canada seems even more tougher than going. I have not slept since yesterday. Spent all night on Quora, Canadavisa, google home page and the living in canada thread NL reading migrants' experiences in Canada, their survival strategies, job hunt efforts, their happiness and regrets etc. So many varied experiences from people with different nationalities, some are happy, others are bitter, some settled in fine quickly, others are still finding their feet after years. This is indeed a personal journey, only you can own it and make the best out of it with information and networks. The major lessons I could get out from last night reading is the importance of managing your expectations (there are positives and negatives), keeping an open mind to what you get, while still being ambitious and striving for better opportunities.
Do not be discouraged. Take this journey one step at a time. And see it as a training for you. When you have questions or have the slightest doubt, keep asking. There is no stupid or dumb question, only different levels of understanding. It is why we are here |

Timeline:
ECA Used WES, didn’t know at the time that there were other evaluation bodies, only knew about BC for IELTS and WESfor ECA.
I was an unserious club boy during my university days so I graduated with a 3rd class after 7 years (A disappointment that later became a blessing) 2 years later I went back for another degree and graduated with a better grade. So with this I had 2 certificates. WES took 4 months because I had to evaluate my diploma, first bsc and second bsc.... |

Thank you for this information @ Mamaroon. My wife went to make inquiry's at AF in Ibadan. They said the TEF exam can now be taken at AF in Ibadan at the cost price is 120k. But for beginners, one will need 8 months of study from beginner to advanced before one can be really confident to write the TEF exams. From your experience, what do you think? Mamaroon: I think they were just giving you the schedule of how they move from one level to the next e.g. A1 to B1 etc. It doesn't have to take you 3 years. I would suggest you do some self assessment (since you have done secondary school French) and determine your level then decide on next steps. Below is a quote from NJ with some TEF tests and practice questionand in the last 2 folders....it may take 3 to 6 months at a mininum though if the aim is CLB 7 in all 4 areas.....this is my guess...you may even decide to attend the AF TEF prep classes for a month and if you can cope with those then your level is definitely not beginner....... All the best... |

My story is a long one and I’m grateful to Almighty Allah for the progress so far and his blessings on me and my fam.
The Beginning - I first heard about express entry in 2017, my boss got it, my colleague was about to get it then. I did some research and then decided I think I want this, an amazing life for me and my kids. I told my baby ( my then bf , now hubby).. he wasn’t interested then o, said you can make it in naija, kinikan kinikan , hmmm . I tried to convince him then, I just said let me start first . Started my WES October 2017, wrote my ielts a month after( passed in one sitting).
WES - Then I mistakenly or just mumuly decided to use nipost for WES just to buy time , maybe baby would agree, that’s how my village people caught up to me o and strike started . The up and down ehn , sorting people , spending money, Wes finally came through.
Work experience/CRS score - Then the wait for 3 years experience nko as I just wanted to use one workplace to claim points. Finally it was complete, then another wait for crs to drop to 441... oh I forgot, Passport expired in between all of the above (after ielts though)
Passport matter - Then the debate to wait and do court with change of name or just renew like that, by this time baby was already feeling the Canadian waka small small , he had gotten his Internationàl passport, even did ielts, he passed, but his score wasn’t up to mine(maxing out the ielts score )...
Single Or As a Couple ? - Back to me doing this alone at first. So I said babe let’s do court na and apply as a couple, baby was like no o, everything is a process, I must propose, then do intro, then court can follow, I said babe hmm adding spouse in between is one kind o. But I can’t propose to my self abi or do court with myself, i sha continued.
ITA - Well, ITA showed up, I didn’t have issues with POF ( used First bank treasury bills, stanbic fixed deposit , stanbic money market investment funds), Alhamdulillah... I sha chilled till July, so I can add my love in between, so it won’t be too early .
AOR - Hence my AOR July 1st, then the race began, constant profile checking, oh lest I forget , before this I met amazing people in our May ITA group , TEECAN , my brother Threemg(love you bro ), my sissy deesmama(AOR mate) and now close friend, we’re plenty small in that group and I hope our prayers would all be answered soonest.
Now I pray for good health as we must get to our second country InshaAllah...
It ended in praise . Alhamdulillah!!!!!!!!!!! |

Lmao! Very interesting write-up. @Fizzile "only you one is a bad guys". Congratulations bro! May your journey be smooth... fizzile: Decision to migrate: November 2017: At this point, it dawned on me that my stay in the UK was coming to an end. I possibly couldn't believe my eyes until i got a mail from Home Office reminding me that i had some months left on my Visa. I was like na so this people wan thank me for spending millions running a Masters programme? At this point, i pinched myself and i was like..."oboy wetin u wan go do for naija"? To start from the scratch? Mbanu !!! I thought of applying for scholarships in the UK and US but for the UK, i was like never!!!.. not after breaking my back all in d name of warehouse jobs...lolzz omor i huzzle shaaa oooo. Options like residency in Australia and Canada became my best bets but I rather chose the Canada route and came across this thread..the rest is history.
IELTS: My first IELTS test was in the UK, and i prepared for two weeks. First IELTS was LRWS: 7.5, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5...I was so excited thinking that was gonna fetch me a good CRS not knowing i needed atleast an 8.0 in the listening band. I really appreciate the great guys here who encouraged me to retake the test. Got back to Nigeria in January 2018 and decided to retake IELTS, this time around in March. Had ample time to prepare and was very much relaxed in the hall. My second IELTS test was LRWS: 8.0, 7.0, 7.5, 7.5 which was enough for me. As for the materials i used, i basically used online platforms like ieltliz, ieltsbuddy.com and ielts-up.com.
ECA This was straightforward as i evaluated just my Masters degree. WES was at my service and did the needful. Being a foreign degree, it was a smooth process for me, and i had my evaluation done within a month or thereabout.
MEDICALS This was quite straightforward. Had mine at Prime Medicals in Port Harcourt. Unfortunately, they are no longer part of the process.
PROOF OF FUNDS(POF) Used 100% gift deed from my dad. This was transferred to my savings account and transfer document for that was secured. Many have been of the opinion that notarizing the gift deed isn't necessary. Personally i notarized mine. For the gift deed, i simply followed the format put up by wakanowdotcom. His post was really helpful. Other documents i submitted are: >6-month bank statement showing inflow of cash and transfer of POF. >Also got a printout of currency converter (oanda and xe.com) as at day of submission, >LOE explaining source of funds and bulk sum and, > bank reference letter. NO PAYSLIPS WAS INCLUDED. I contemplated including one, but when i got necessary advice from the likes of Tojued and Newmum0615, i had to submit my application without including payslips. Happytbaby, glitteringstar, ugoiyke79e, thanks for all your mails. I so disturbed these guys and trust me, they were of great help.
EMPLOYMENT: This was the point i needed my God to step into the matter...lolzzzz.. I actually worked in a firm where i was paid in cash, and all i did was to get a reference letter from my boss in CIC format. I also included an LOE stating the reason i was paid in cash. It was indicated on the letter that i was paid in cash. As for online presence, the firm had no online presence like a website, and i had to including a screenshot of the firm's registration page on the CAC's website. Lastly, i included my boss's complimentary card just incase they decide to reach him directly. In all, i committed everything to God. One prayer i kept praying was, God please blind them from all my inadequacies and trust me this prayer worked like magic..hahahahha.
PCC: I applied for Nigeria and UK PCC. Mr Moshood was of great help when i applied for the Nigeria PCC. Though he made some errors on my PCC, but Lucia was very helpful as she helped me apply for another and scanned it to me.
ADRs: I recieved my first ADR on Sept 20th and it was to fill Schedule A form, of which i did immediately and submitted. Second ADR came in October, which was to make payment for RPRF. Made this payment immediately. Third ADR came in and lo and behold, i thought it was PPR not knowing i had another form to fill up. This time around, it had to do with filling the IMM5406 form (additional family information). As usual, i responded swiftly.
GCMS NOTES: Ordered first set of gcms notes on the 24th of November, 2018, and for over 60days it wasn't delivered. Mailed them severally and kept getting all sort of excuses. Atlast, gcmsbuddy had to re-order and it arrived on the 9th of Feb, 2019. Everything look cool. The wait continued
In all these, it's been a long wait...some will say long overdue but i must say it is worth the wait. At some point i almost lost it 'cos i was beginning to get fed up with responses from CIC agents. Disturbing CIC agents became a hobby to me, as i kept calling and calling...dats how i spoke to one agent thrice on different occassions..lolz...but shun, this lady's voice is something else...often felt at home each time i got connected to her. Will miss her though...hope we get to meet in Cannyland. Psychologically, this process drained me..imagine friends always wanting to know wats going on in this life of dis dude who just got back from UK...enemies at the gate i must say...but God pass them. I no wan mention all dos "cats" (babes) wey don chop my UK money run....lolzzz.. dey go soon come back to chop Canny money...Chop keee una there...hahahahaha...
Emotionally, it was hard for me...thinking about the whole process and thinking about a sick dad who keeps asking..."my son, when are they gonna send the mail?...are you sure this thing will work out?...it became a regular thing that each time i watched his face and have the thoughts of FSW Express Entry, i simply got weak. One thing is for sure, he gave me a big smile early this morning when i got the golden mail..been a while i saw him smile though. One thing is for sure, i am happy he is strong to see this become a reality....no worry, na canny doctors go treat u las las. Maybe all those great doctors on this thread.
I must say a huge thank you to everyone who chipped in one info or the other, you guys were of great help. Smslive, indeed you are a great oracle. Fresty, we global now !!!! Cheee !!! thanks for being a buddy indeed...God bless you real good.
To my family...u know yourselves, AOR August Whatsapp group and August ITA whatsapp group, you guys rock.. Love y'all.. Mo, u aiit? init?
To the newbies or those in the process, stay strong, stay focused, asked questions, i repeat ask questions.. read...read...read too...this journey is one that requires even the smallest person beside u.. Throw away pride and ego, and be humble enough to seek information. It is key. ABOVE ALL, BE CLOSE TO YOUR GOD...IT MIGHT SOUND FUNNY, BUT TRUST ME NOT EVERYONE WHO SEES YOU GOING TRU DIS PROCESS WISH U WELL...HENCE, BE CLOSE TO YOUR GOD.
TIMELINE:
One funny thing that happened prior to when i got the ghost update yesterday morning was that, i ordered for second GCMS notes in the morning, and after some minutes i got the ghost update, trust igbo guy like me naa.. i hurriedly mailed gcmsbuddy to cancel my order and initiate a refund. Indeed God was ahead of me. ITA: June 11, 2018 AOR: August 28, 2018. 1st ADR: September 20, 2018 MED passed/ BIL: September 24, 2018. This is very informative @ Johnny Bravo I think it takes about 14 - 16 weeks to be candid. I used CES also. I also like the fact that you get to review an unofficial soft copy of the final document, so you can revert back to them if there are errors before they send you the hard copy. I don't think WES does that. johnnybravo1990: Yea.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/how.html#designated
Go to the above link, and you will see the 5 designated bodies. CES is the first one. Click it, then click 'ECA for immigration purposes'. Then click 'apply now'. It then goes to a page which shows you the cost (210 Canadian dollars.) However, along the line, there is additional 90 dollars or so for international posting of the ECA report to you; the only option if you do not want to pay the 90 dollars is if you will pick the report in their office in Toronto. Clicking 'apply now' again takes you to a page where it asks you to log in, or to register if you are new user. Feel free to register(you will not be penalised for registering even if you won't use CES for your ECA eventually, but please, don't forget your username and password). The particular page where it prompts you to enter you username and password, it will do you good to bookmark the page for convenience of subsequent log-ins. After registering and logging in, in the further pages you open, you will see questions regarding your personal and educational history. So fill the pages as you go on, if you choose to use CES for your ECA.
But I will summarise what you need, though I may skip some points unintentionally. The only hardcopy document you need to send to CES is your transcript from your school(I called them personally on phone to confirm this). Every other document is soft copy and should be uploaded in your online application. Such documents include data page of international passport, your academic transcript and your degree certificate. Each of the soft copy documents should be coloured, in pdf format, and all pages of each document should be captured, even if it is a blank page. For your hard copy transcript, when posting, include the 'student number' in the address. The student number is usually generated for you when you register in the CES site and it normally begins with 'X'.
Somewhere in the CES website, it tells you processing time is 12 weeks after all documents have been received. I cannot independently confirm this because I am just 10 weeks post-transcript-delivery. One downside of using CES is that your profile/online portal is not updated many weeks after your transcript reaches them(mine was updated 9 weeks and 2 days after delivery of my transcript to them). So ensure you track you transcript as it is being delivered; that will help you know your transcript has gotten to them.
To my understanding, there is no WAEC verification issue with CES. Whether CES verifies your transcript with your school is not made known. Should there be any issue with your application, CES will contact you; so I was told in their reply to one of my emails I sent to them. |

@johnnybravo1990. Bro, I don't think CES is a bad idea. I used them for my ECA and I was very impressed. My wife used WES, and a close friend used IQAS.. I really think CES is the best of all three. ( I am not familiar with ICES though). After about 6-8 weeks, 1- 3 will turn from red to green at the same time. After another 4 to 6 weeks, 4 - 6 will become green too. It usually takes about 14 weeks now. However with the holiday break, it may still extend a little further. I guess the people using CES have increased recently too. When the assessment is completed they will send you a preview copy, which you would need to check and revert to them within 24 hrs if there is any error in personal information so they can make the correction before dispatching your hard copy. There is no need to start another ECA with WES, I'm sure you will have favourable update from CES before January ends. Although they are bad with mails, but they have a live chat forum during their work hours, where you can speak to a customer service personnel live and they are very polite (from my experience). I think you should exercise a little more patience. Cheers johnnybravo1990: Same shoes with yours. My CRS is above 460 - sure of ITA. But I used CES-University of Toronto for my ECA. Tracking it shows it was delivered 5 November 2018. But up till now my profile on their site has remained untouched like I never applied for ECA. The annoying thing is that they said that processing time is 12 weeks from when they acknowledge that they have received my transcript. I have sent them 2 or 3 emails which have gone unreplied. People be complaining about WES but right now I wished I used them. If I had the money I would have started another ECA with WES. Well I will wait to see some progress with the ECA before booking for medicals and doing the police certificate.
By the way, is there anywhere in Abuja one can do the police certificate stuff? Must it be Alagbon in Lagos? |

Please I have a question as regards ECA via WES.
For someone who has already evaluated his degree certificate before the introduction of WAEC.
Will I still have to verify my WAEC result by the time I’m done with Masters and ready to evaluate it? |

Awesome story. Congratulations!!! May the journey be easy for you and your family. You are favoured. Now to our ppr gist... My sister in-law has been in Canada since about 11 years ago. All this while, she's been disturbing my hubby and I to apply for the Canada express entry but we werent just ready and interested. She kept on calling morning and night, and sending us link to read but for where, no interest at all. My hubby and I were of the opinion to always go abroad for holidays and not relocating patapata, cos our eyes were not open, Lol. God bless my sil, she kept on talking to us. It got to a time, she was tired and wrote down in her diary never to disturb us again about it. That was exactly when our inner and outer eyes opened, den we started calling her for info. God is indeed part of this journey. We started the process in April, all thanks to nairaland, and specifically this wonderful thread that made the journey so easy for us from day one. God bless you all for sharing life changing tips and experiences that keep one going. God alone will reward you all. We calculated our crs and discovered hubby is the best person to be the PA cos of his masters degree and years of work experience, even though his age affected a little. He started preparing for ielts and also transcript evaluation process for both of us started. I didn't need to write the ielts exams cos our crs score was ok without it. My hubby wrote the exams twice, first one in June, of which only writing spoilt d result with 6.5. we went for EOR but came unchanged...so heartbreaking. By then hubby was already tired and saying "mi o feko exam yi mo oooo (I don't want to write this exam again). In my mind I was like 'ooni ko kini' (u won't write wetin), I left him and went to him later to encourage him, then bros' spirit was awakened'...lol, power of a woman . I put to bed in July, den hubby was on leave and decided to write the exam again before he resumed work. Then he rewrote second ietls in August and oga aced it. My hubby na bookworm o, though I mentored him both on the reading table and in za oza room . We were so excited about the result. By then ECA was ready so we dived into the pool. Let me even gist you guys about my three week old baby that I went to do international passport capturing for. On a normal day, this Lil princess will wake at any slight sound. Most times I even tip toe whenever she's sleeping. On the day of capturing, she slept like never before. I threw her up, swinged her, tap the cheeks, turned the head, did all manner of things, for where. Even the immigration officers helped me to wake her, she refused o. They were like why are u people disturbing this baby, she said she doesn't want to travel to Canada She slept for about 45 min. At last, she woke for a short period and we did the capturing. Was very happy ehn like we won jackpot....lol By 22nd Aug, 2018, we received ITA. Then we gathered all the documents we needed. Lo and behold, we submitted on Oct 10th. I know I tried at this stage cos my hubby doesn't know shishi about d process lol. His own is to bring money . Na me dey fill, scan, submit and check. Weldone boo Hmmmmn, Almighty POF...God proved himself at the die minute that He is Jehovah Overdo. Where we do not even think help will come from, God showed up. We had more than the POF sef. We used 25% Pension Funds, my savings backed up with consent letter from me and Gift Deed (about 70% of the entire POF). Baba e se Nov 7th, we passed Medicals/Bil. We reside in Port Harcourt, and we travelled down to Lagos for Biometrics just as we did for Medicals. Very stressful something .Biometrics done and completed on the 14th Nov. Then the waiting began. I never knew I married a prophet, my hubby always say Dec will never end without our ppr. I will just say Amen, but in my mind ehn, not feasible.. madam doubting Thomas. We actually planned travelling to Lag for Xmas and hubby told me to go along with our intl, passports and passport photos so I can submit and receive copr before coming back to ph. My people, we travelled on Tue, the 18th of Dec, and God just decided to embarrass us with this great news in the early hours of 19th Dec. I checked our cic account before I slept at about 12am. Then around 4am, hubby woke me up with the good news. Only me I screamed, rolled on the floor, smiled, laughed, sang, couldn't sit or sleep again. Na like dis e dey be? . Submitted our passports that same yesterday....no dulling.I have come to return all d glory to the God of Shiloh who has made this possible. Baba we not taking You for granted, May Your name alone be exalted. You have given me and my family our Shiloh Dominion encounter/ best Xmas gift ever. For all of us still waiting at one stage or the other, God is still in the business of doing wonderous things. He will embarrass us with good news before the end of the year. Thank you all for reading the boring gist. Over to you prof. I no want yeye mark o, Ehn ehn [/quote] |
