Programming / Re: I Want To Go Into Tech; What Field Should I Choose? by temitayo315(m): 4:34pm On Aug 25, 2022
I don't know how strong your passion for leaning is, but i advice you to learn in-demand skills. When skills are in high demand, the candidates who possess these skills are more likely to succeed in the job application process. Most demand skills in 2022 are IT Support technician, web development, software development, Ui/Ux, DevOps, CyberSecurity. Here I wrote 11 Most in-demand Tech skill to learn in 2022, their salary estimate and how to learn them https://teetaryo.com/11-most-in-demand-tech-skills-to-learn-in-2022/

TechLiberatedMe:
Hello Tech Seniors,

I graduated from the University about a decade ago and I'm currently in my early thirties.

I did not study Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics or other Math-related courses. My mathematical prowess is fair.

I made up my mind to go into Tech because I did an appraisal of my journey since I finished NYSC and realised I would have been very fulfilled if I ventured into Tech since then. The last one year has been terrible for me. I started thinking about Tech since late last year. I recently came across one or two threads where Tech guys gave testimonies and their comments gave me hope that Tech would change my life and my story.

I feel that I would even regret more in the next 10 years if I don't start something in Tech NOW! Tech is both the present and the future.

I have come to a conclusion that one can hardly regret ever going into Tech.

I got to know that there are several fields of Tech one can specialise in. I also got to know that some people started in one field and later dropped it for another field because they realised the first one was not for them.

I also hear that some people are in Tech but their foundation is faulty.

How do I know the aspect of Tech I will enjoy and at the same time excel in? Kindly guide me in every ways you can. I am coming late already and there is no time for me to gamble or do trial an error unlike a 16-year-old Jambite.

The following might be helpful in helping me make a decision:

1. I love to solve problems. In fact, solving problems gives me so much joy. There are times I skip sleep just because I want to find solution to a particular problem.

2. I love it when I am the staff/individual that got it done.

3. I am competitive (healthy competition). I love to look at people that are better than me and try to become as good as or better than them. I always believe that I can do it since they could also do it.

4. I love a career that pays very well even if not the best. As a result of this, I might be tempted to want to switch to a Tech career that has the best prospects and pays the highest. In that case, maybe it'd be advisable I start a career in that aspect I would eventually be tempted to port to.

5. Kindly also say something about Tech careers that thrive in the UK, US or Canada because one might have a cause to relocate in the future.

I look forward to reading from the seasoned and incisive Tech Seniors.

Thank you.

cc: Seun
tensazangetsu20, Misterrobot, reactjs, hannania, Wisdomremz, Ejiod, mcemmy0z and other Seniors I did not mention

Please don't forget to help me mention other Seniors that can give incisive contributions.

Cenner:
Hi, all.

I want to get this laptop HP 8440p with my last card — it's around 80k. Though I'm having 50k cash atm, and I plan on increasing it to 60k soonest before I make a down payment by month end.

But the thing is that I am yet to use or own a laptop before. So, I don't know if this particular make is worth buying or not. I own a good android device, but I know it isn't enough to learn something good — I may be wrong.

Consecutively, I plan on learning a valuable skill with it like logo design, Adobe Photoshop, Book cover design, etc. But I don't know the best skill that would be best to learn if I should purchase it.

Pls, I need your suggestions and advice.

TooNoisy:
He has no momentum.

Its the same IPOB youths that just keep shouting his name up and down. He is not known in the North at all. No one knows him. He cannot get 25% of votes in any northern state. His party has no candidates in the North. They don't have any state chairmen, local government chairmen or even ward members.

No credible politician is associating with him. No one knows him in Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Oyo. He is little known in Edo and Delta. He couldn't even get a Northerner as placeholder. He had to use the only non-Igbo supporting him, who happens to be a discredited politician like Doyin Okupe.

No momentum anywhere. Everything is online and he would not get 2 million votes in the real election. He is just being supported by IPOB members who use cyber bullying as their tactic.
Why are you typing as if you want to cry grin. Obi is now a threat to you all. How can you say he's not known anywhere in the North? Somebody that campaigned as vice presidential candidate with Atiku in 2019.

He was all around North campaigning alongside Atiku in 2019. He has spoken in the media presidential debate, so alot of people are aware of his intelligence. Y'all don't just want to admit we need a smart head in the presidency who can represent the country and be outspoken anywhere in the world.

You think being a president is about sitting in Aso rock? Having a weak candidate who cannot talk at the Africa summit and world summit. Mehn... we need to wake up. Nigeria deserves a president who is fit in all aspect. Sentiment apart. We have smart people in this country beyond all this old men.

What they will teach you on site or wherever you go for training is the same as what u will watch o YouTube.

Do you wish to Transition into Tech but don't know how?
In today's competitive job market, everyone is looking to learn and master skills that will separate them from the pack. We often think of this as a new field or skill that we are trying to learn or an existing one that we are trying to add to our repertoire. But what if it's not just a new skill we're looking to learn, but also a technique?

I always tell people you don't have to be in Tech to do Tech. Alot of people want to dive into Tech but don't know how. Maybe they know how but are scared of programming or coding. Good day guys, as a web developer myself i would say i did not really love coding at all till about 3 years ago.

I studied accounting and finance in school but after my Nysc, I volunteered to be part of my friends start up entertainment website as a web administrator on the back end to reply messages from support, approve comments and make modifications.

I actually started to develop interest because prior before then i never knew how a website worked from back end, i was just amazed lol and developed interest from there.

One year later in 2020 i made a decision to teach myself how to code starting from html, css and then proceeded to JavaScript and php though i only work with JavaScript for now as i was advised to master one programming language before moving to another.

It has been fun, challenging and cool since then, i have done a couple of projects for clients also.

So guys what really attracted you to coding/ programming?

I started while in the university. We did a course in 100L then on Html. By 300L I started with youtube video tutorials. Now I'm a software developer in a company, but i still feel like I don't know anything in programming. Laravel Backend

Nice points up there!

The next coming inventions that we are going to experience are:

1. SC MagLev Train: it'll be launched in Japan by 2023 it can reach 660km/h. The most astonished part of this invention is that it has no TRACKS rather it fly that is when it's in right speed, it doesn't stay on anything thou only use its tire for low speed operation.

2. Generation of Electricity using Stirling invention: the engine that operates based on two different temperaturesl cold & hot. A single satellite dish size which converted sun ray into energy to power the engine can generate huge 1.5megawatt of electricity was produced in 2010 later abandoned because research is still on going to know if there's any environmental effect it can create but if this can be settled, it means we don't need billions of dollars to get power plant anymore.

Webmasters / Top 8 Tips To Detect Fake/scam Website by temitayo315(m): 1:36pm On Jul 18, 2021
A lot of people have been scammed online due to ignorance or probably looking for a quick way to make money. You've probably ended up on a fake website unknowingly.

Fake websites are an important part of the so-called Phishing attack where fraudsters aim to misguide you into giving out sensitive data such as credit card details or account passwords.

I get a lot of fake links been shared on whatsapp in which many people always fall victim. So I have decided to write out what is real and how to check the legitimacy of a website.

Here are 8 tips to check website's legitimacy.

1. Pay attention to the URL
The first thing you need to check is https:// at the beginning of the address bar. The 's' in the HTTPS signifies secure which means the website uses encryption to transfer data protecting it from hackers. If the site uses HTTP without the 's', that doesn't mean it is a fake website, but it is something to watch out for.

2. Check the domain name
Beside HTTPs, check the address next to HTTP. Some scamers of fake website usually mimic those of large brands. E. G www.g00gle.com is a wrong domain, www.jumia.com.discountedclothe.co used a subdomain to mimic Julia.

3. Watch for grammar and spelling
If the website contains numerous blunder and grammatical errors, probably it might have been put up by scammers to making quick profit. Legitimate companies will ensure quality content. Spelling mistakes, broken English, low-resolution images indicates that a website went up quickly with illegitimate intent.

4. Ignore deals that are too good to be true
Be careful of deals that are too good to be true. It is impossible to get money for doing nothing. Any website that puts u on time pressure, special low low discount valid for the next 5 min e. T. c. Some website can even promise free BTC after sign-up.

5. Take a look at contact us section
How much information is provided? Is an address supplied? What about phone number? Does the line connect to the company. A legitimate website with business in mind should have a physical address on its website.

6. Check the WhoIs lookup
The whoIs domain look-up can let you know the owner of a website, what email is registered on it, how long it has been active. You can also run a quick check on similarWeb.

7. Check whether the site has a social media presence
A company or at least a business website will have a social media presence built around it. click on any social link to see if it's linked to real account.

8. check for online reviews
Reviews are important because they build trust. You can Google Search "brandname"+review to see what people are saying about them. If no review, you should take caution.

Of course there are other ways to check for fake website. But these are obvious signs to watch for.

I hope this post is an eye opener and it's helpful. Have you ever been scammed online before? Share your experience.

Phones / How To Set Up Your Mobile Phone To Stay Productive by temitayo315(m): 7:35am On Apr 13, 2021
If you want to stay productive and kick away distractions that comes with using the mobile phone, then read till the end.

Let's be honest with ourselves, it is surprising to know how much time we waste averagely in a day checking through the mobile, smiling to comments on social media, taking pictures, streaming videos, chatting, scrolling and the list goes on.

Many of us spend countless amount of time staring at that tiny screen and not getting things done on time. And time is very valuable regardless of what you do.

A recent survey shows that an average internet user spends about 2 hours 22 minutes on social networking and messaging platform.

But our mobile phone can be hotbeds of distraction as it has huge power to control our attention. It can be a weight tying us down from becoming productive.

Mobile phone has a whole lots of benefit, but there are also downsides to it.
Is your mobile phone taking up your time? Right from waking up, your face is glued to your phone.

If you are curious and you are looking for ways to reduce mobile usage for productivity, here are 9 ways to set up your smartphone to stay productive and avoid distractions

Start phone free morning

A new day is a way to start a productive day. Waking up from sleep after a long night rest always comes with a positive energy. You don’t want to waste this energy with your smartphone. You can avoid distraction in early hours of the day by curating a habit of not checking through your mobile phone.

Turn Off all alert

No alert means fewer things to check and a lot less distraction. You can disable all notifications or notification for some specific App. Every phone beep/notification most time causes a break from productive work. Of course, there are always going to be a few apps that you feel the need to leave the notification on.

Use Do Not Disturb (DND)

Do not disturb is another way to keep away distractions. If you need uninterrupted periods without phone calls, messages or notifications, just turn on the moon icon on your phone.

Track phone Usage

You can track the usage of your mobile phone and all the activities across your devices with apps like Timely, Moment App. You can get report of emails, meeting schedule, Gps locations alongside your daily web and desktop activity.

Use ToDo list App

Performing your tasks in an organized manner will make your day much more productive. You can have list of items/projects with specific task for each day rather than spending all your time being distracted. Other Apps that you can use to organize Todo list are Google Keep, and Trello.

Get rid of Social App

Yes! of course this may sound awkward. But the truth is that a larger percentage of distractions are through social media.
You just wanted to check an interesting notification on facebook, and the next thing is you become glued to your friend’s status and smiling, then Tweeted a few times and next you open to watch some Instagram or Youtube videos. Before you know it, you have spent minutes or hours unknowingly. But the Freedom App can help to block specific social media sites from your computer and mobile devices.

Don’t sync your computer and mobile phone
The more you can minimize interruptions, the better. If your phone is a distraction machine, your computer should be a tool for focus.

Use Pocket to save website

There are times when you will come across articles and blog site that interest you to read, but you are too busy or not really ready at that time to check through it. Pocket is an app for both IOS and Android that allows you save Web pages with a single tap.

Make Use of Text-to-speech output

Your mobile phone can read out loud without having to touch it. To avoid distractions, you can activate the text-to-speech output on your mobile phone by letting your phone read aloud to you. You can gain a lot of productive time by having your phone read messages, emails, incoming phone calls, web pages while you are busy working or doing some other stuffs.

it is always very important to understand why you are letting your phone distract you since our smartphones are a major source of all distractions. So these are various ways to setup your smartphone to stay productive.

I'm waiting for your comment I know I will laugh with your funny comments on this platform.
