femi321: This is Nigeria and not the United State or a developed country. Things don't work normally here. Him going for a legal battle is just a distraction for him , waste of Time and resources. Legal case here are not expedited, they take years, I am sure by then he would have graduated from the masters sef. Not to sound insensitive but I guess that should be a lesson to him and others that keep using agents for what they can actually do themselves. Information is key and not everybody is opportune to have it.We are just lucky to have found this thread. |

Michelleflores: Hi everyone, I'm new here, have just been observing from the sidelines and finally decided to share my problem, the story is pretty long but I will make it short. my case is entirely different but I believe I can get some sort of advice from you guys, thanks a lot in anticipation of a reply. I used an agent to gain admission to a Sch in America, South Dakota state university brookings, I paid the agent and he toook care of everything, including the courier service, for sending the i20 to nigeria, I was offered admission for jan 2017, I went for the interview myself, and I was granted the visa, then I left for the U.S in December, on arrival in New York, I was told at the airport that my sevis was cancelled, I was shocked. the homeland security called the school to ask why, he was told that the agent paid the dhl fee with a credit card that wasn't his, so the owner of the credit card reported to the Sch, therefore they cancelled my admission. The officer asked if I could be let In so I can sort it out in Sch but they refused, so i was adviced to withdraw my application voluntarily and go get admission from another Sch and another visa, but there was no ban, I was sent back home. I have just recovered from it all now thinking on how to remedy my situation, till I stumbled on this page, now my problem is, I don't know whether to go right ahead and get another admission and go for another visa interview or to write a letter to the embassy in Nigeria explaining what happened, cos my visa was for two years, I need help guys. Sigh :'. These agents are the devil, I'm so sorry may God replenish you. |

iseoluwa89: Mastering new vocabulary..because most of d words are new to me..and I think it's d bedrock to SEs and TCs too.. You're right it is, download the memrise app, it has helped me a lot. Alternatively I have audio files to the 1000 high frequency gre vocabulary, the fellow speaking has a strong Indian accent though |

Scholastica16: Yes I believe Manhattan had good Full-length tests even though I didn't use them (but the one I am referring to is not the one contained in the book but a real time simulation of the way the GRE test will be- having a timer, instructions, Essays, and both Q and V questions). I also know some people on here used Kaomanfen.com but I also do not know how they gained access to it. Perhaps just type it that way on your browser and see where it leads you. I did however, use the Kaplan test samples and you should read the posts by Seeker88 on this page to understand how to access them. Here is the link:

Scholastica16: Studying may have little impact but early preparation has helped you especially since you are considering 2018. I would recommend you gave yourself 4/5months of less study and more full-length tests i.e both essays and VQVQE as oft as possible. Full-length tests trump any other preparatory methods.
When I was preparing for the GRE I got near perfect scores in my Q (PowerPrep Test 1 169 and one of the Kaplan Tests 170) but that was because I skipped the verbal and did it at a later time. Preparing for the GRE that way won't help you because it would give you a false sense of security seeing that I was full of energy when I tested myself both times. If I had done the Full-length tests I am sure I may have scored lower because I would have been tired by the 2nd Q especially if one ends up getting 3 Qs and not know which one is the experimental.
Practising Full-length tests will enable you test your endurance the same way it would be on the actual day and if you discipline yourself during the practice you won't feel the impact of the grueling 4hr exams on the D-day.
Apart from helping with one's endurance level Full-length tests actually programme you to devise strategies that could help on test day and show you topics that you may not be fully-cognizant of, better than just pouring through various books trying to understand the intricacies. For instance, some people skip the first 8 Q questions that are quantitative comparisons and tackle them last.
Finally, Full-length tests are near perfect indicators of whether you are close to the 320+ target score. Forget Adrenaline, if you are not hitting 320+ during your practice, chances are, you won't hit it on the main day. In fact, one's score could improve or reduce by a margin of 4 on both sides during the main day. Everyone I know that hit say 160+ in the V had done so consistently during practice. Same goes for the Q. Obviously there would be outliers to this theory but the evidence is clear even on this thread. The guy who hit 330 early January said he was getting above 160 in his V throughout his practice and I believe he hit 165 in one of his PowerPrep V's which he replicated on the main day. Same goes for the guy that had 167 in his Q. the full length tests are they the same as the questions in Manhattan prep? Please where can I get them? I'll appreciate your assistance |

Studying for Gre is so diffficult , I'm currently serving in a construction company, I leave home early and return late , I try my best to study at work when I'm less busy and I make sure to study intensively on weekends. I feel I'm not doing enough, I'm planning to apply in 2018 and I want to score above 320. Can anyone advice me as to how to move forward and do better? |

Scholastica16: I believe you would be but if you are in doubt you should go to the website of the your intended schools and get the email address of the grad coordinator. Contact him/her and ask this question. They would respond. Thank you |

ganiyuadeoye: Bro, why not start by searching with schools that offer your prefered course, check there requirement, use top tier school requirement to prep for your GRE exam, so even if you don't meet up u ll fall into another reasonable level. SEND MAILS to graduate coordinator of each schools. Just draft a mail and edit before sending to each school. By the time u search one or two schools you will see that this is interesting to do. I even know US map pass Naija own after thorough searching with different criteria. I'm on it, thanks ...I'm not a bro tho |

Good afternoon everyone, I need your opinions on this issue. I studied Building in the University of Lagos and I'm working towards doing my masters soon in Construction engineering and management which happens to be a specialization in the department of civil engineering. I was opportune to take a wide variety of civil courses during my undergrad including structural analysis, structural design, mechanics of materials, soil mechanics, foundation engineering and fluid mechanics which I had Bs save for fluid mechanics. I want your advice on if I'll be considered for the course despite the fact that my bachelors degree is in Building and not Civil engineering. I'll be so glad if I can get your opinions, it will mean a lot. |
