14.Chukwudi44[b] I dont know what correlation this guy have with Saraki's case, but the number of mentions he get from a single Saraki/CCT's thread is overwhelming.
13. [b]HARDSHIP[b] No doubt, there is hardship in the land so they word is meant to be regularly used.
12. [b]DOLLAR This currency have suffered in the mouths of Nigerians, even a mango seller will blame dollar for the increase in price of mango. Likewise, on Nairaland everybody have something good or bad to say about dollar.
11. GEJ Some people said, he is the reason behind the problems of Nigeria while others consider him a hero. Which ever way, nairalander's mention this name alot.
10. BUDGET I think this year's budget is one of the budgets that has raise massive controversies among Nigerians. And trust Nairalander's, they can relate anything with anything.
9. FAYOSE Some say he is a talkertive, while others consider him the present day Awolowo. They way people rush to view any Fayose's thread on nairaland is amazing. Hence, give him countless number of titles
8. APC/PDP Cat and Rat for ever. Hardly for an hour to pass by without someone mentioning one of this party.
7. SARAKI For the past One month, this guys Trail at the CCT has being making frontpages on some Nigeria Dailies and even Nairaland. You need to see the way nairalanders jump into Any Saraki's thread as if they are sharing frèe rice and chicken there.
6. FARMERS/HERDSMEN Nairalanders can debate this issue all night. Some can even send you links upon links to boost their point.
5. BUHARI Maybe because he is the president. But everybody just have something to say about this man.
4. MYND44 Mr Ban. People who wants to keep nairaland Clean always mention this Monika. I dont even know if there is a reward for reporting someone.
3. Zombies/Wailers Like it or not. Every active nairalander can relate with this two words.
2. SEUN Obviously, because he is the CEO of Nairaland. People mention him for suggestion, Complains, critism etc. I wonder if he reply all those mentions.
1. Lalasticlala The general Manager! Atime i wonder if this guy sleeps or even have time to take his bath. Always Online and responding to different mentions from different Sections of Nairaland. I hail Oh
Why can't you peeps just look towards the right direction, the sim is available in my area nah. ... just airtime dat is a challenge. .. . Believe me at ur own risk
goldbim: Maybe he did nt reveal any secret because some things are best left unsaid and saying it may not change anything...may God comfort and console his family members(amen)
blueto: The essence of this thread is to dissenter and refute the points raised by the Original Poster(OP) of this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3011016/why-nigerian-commentators-should-not , of why he believes and assents that Nigerian commentators should be barred from commenting during our international matches.
I want to use this medium to beseech the OP and Nigerians with similar mindsets to jettison Xenocentrism (the belief that products, styles, or ideas of one's country or society is inferior to those that are practised and originated elsewhere). This is why most Nigerians prefer the “alluring” commodities, ideologies and culture of foreigners above theirs.
The two points stated by the OP as to why he maintains the belief that Nigerian commentators should be thwarted from commenting are: The case of them being Subjective in their approach, and the display of incompetence and anomia (difficulty in finding the correct word to use).
The issue of them being subjective is universal, even the European commentators are also culpable of such attempt. I watched the Champions League Final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich and the commentators were obviously expressing their supports for the English team(Chelsea) by saying “Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!” anytime a Chelsea player scored during their penalty shoot out, since the full-time failed to produce the winner. If the British could not reprimand their commentators for being bias and subjective, then why should we reprimand ours? You can watch the highlight here to answer for all skepticisms and inquisitions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xibKxX9iS5E .
The issue of them display incompetence can be resolve via formulating policies such establishing a vocational institute for out current and potential commentators to acquire assiduous training on commenting exercise.
They should ditch the mindset of appointing commentators base on their ability of to talk much, and being profound in Sports. They should be thought and made to imbibe the valid mechanisms of commenting.
Here is an encouraging comment from a Nairalander: .
Condemning ourselves is not a prerequisite for maintaining development.
