Unknown to many, not all the Igbo aborigines of Ife followed Prince Chima, later Eze Chima out to their Anioma/Benin axis/ was sold into slavery to make up today’s Lucumi of the Americas/ assimilated into the culture of the Yorubas. Some remain today in Ife, and are known as Iwinrin, Oluyare or Igare.Kudos to the Yorubas who have encouraged peaceful coexistence with the Oluyare Igbos.
These Igbos live around Iwinrin, which has been described by Yoruba elders as Igbo town, and their chief is called Obawinrin. They still play a very important role in Ife culture today, including in the famous Itapa Festival. The Obawinrin is appointed by the Ooni of Ife.Remember we have told you a lot about the Olukumis who followed Prince Chima we have told you about the ones that were sold by their conquerors into slavery. We have told you that some of them remained and assimilated into the Yoruba race.
These Oluyares are the ones that still maintain a presense in Ife till today.Amazing is what I would call the story of the Lucumis.Source: http://www.igbodefender.com/2013/11/18/the-oluyares-the-igbo-aborigines-of-ife-who-still-live-there/ I thought some people have already updated you on the correct version of these events. Those people are not the NdIgbo or the Igbo people found in the Delta and SE. None of their ancestors followed anyone called Eze Chima from Benin. They are actually core Yoruba people, who are now found within the Ugbo kingdom in Yorubaland. They bear no relationship or similarities to the Igbo, in the South-East. That is what I have been informed. |

Hollicom: It was 26th November mark 5years Ojukwu died, nd am still searching for a remembrance message or advertorial for this Hero, not even on their so call Biafra News Blog ..... This should serve as a lesson to Nnamdi Kalu that all man for himself. Rest in Peace the Great Warlord ! So what is IPOB doing? And MASSOB? Or APGA?? Couldn't they have organised a lecture in Ojukwu's memory, or taken out full page adverts in the print media, in remembrance of his activities? People have such short memories. Tomorrow, they will go online to say they can die for their leader, yet nothing is being done to preserve his memory. If it was in the South-West, the man's family, associates and friends would have put together a foundation to preserve his legacy, and an annual symposium to celebrate him. But now...what a pity! |

HungerBAD: I want to believe in this marriage.
But common sense tells me this is a coming together of two families, sealing a business deal with their kids coming together in marriage as a surety.
Powerful people getting married to each other.
Two Dynasty coming together. That is the way it has always been in the far North. Very few couples get married, because of love. Marriages are arranged by the families, and the girl or prospective bride, usually has very little say in it. Among the educated families, they will probably ask the girl for her consent, on the person that has been chosen for her. If she refuses, they put pressure on her slowly, gently but inexorably to change her mind, and get her consent. Some families have been known to threaten to disown their kids for refusing to get married to the person chosen for them. That is the way it has always been. In the South, people get married out of love. But in the North, most people get married out of a sense of duty. Only very few have the priviledge of getting married out of love. |

ogwumgbe: I will rather unite with the devil than to unite with an Afonjas. But one thing is sure, the blood of 3 million igbos that died in Biafra war as a result of Afonjas betrayal must be avenged. Today Nnamdi Kanu is peaceful but a radical will someday arise in Igbo and avenge the blood of the igbos killed in Biafra war on the Afonjas. It must surely happen It was Ojukwu that insisted on your people going to war, even after emissaries had been sent to him to drop the idea and several warnings had been issued to him to desist from that course of action. It was your people that begged Ojukwu to give them arms that they were ready to fight. After the war was over, and the body count was done they started blaming the other side. Did they think that war was supposed to be a tea party? |

eyeview: I want Nigerians to know this. We did not support Jonathan because he did anything in or for Igbo's. Far from it,rather he was a disappointment. But we supported him because we compared him with what APC threw forward in the person of Buhari and knew that jonathan was more of a detribalised man and a domcrat and we thus backed GEJ. Today, going by the brazen and clear nepotism in buhari,we have been proved right. That which we saw from a distance has become clear to the rest of Nigeria. And one thing about igbos is that once they stand for you, they will stand all thru with you. They never backstab Who told you that the Igbos do not backstab? Stop generalising, bros! What do you call what Zik did to Eyo Ita in the sixties? Or the fake drugs that are sold to the unsuspecting public, by Eastern patent medicine men which Dora Akunyili almost lost her life to stamp out? Are you aware that most of those who made an attempt on her life during her tenure as NAFDAC D-G were actually from her axis across the Niger? collinskoko14: Very funny abeg you are very misinformed and if you doubt me go ask Alex Ekwueme of what the Igbo delegates did to him during the 1999 PDP presidential primary with OBJ...... I no know say you sef see am!! They have a very short memory! Even when Ojukwu came back from exile and contested under the defunct political party called NPN, how many Igbo people voted for him? He lost at the polls with a resounding defeat even in the South-east! |

jacksonite: Bury your head in shame. your god has been demystified. Dino was barred from the entire south west and here he was in the Heart of Lagos and nothing happened. And you are here calling Bourdillon 1and 2. Nonsense! Nah! You are actually the one that has shame oozing from your pores in your flawed, futile attempt to dance to Dino's tune and defend his puerile antics. I do not have any God except the Almighty God who created heaven and earth. It is only backward folks like yourself that refer to another human being as their god! So from your post, everyone can see that Dino is obviously your first god, while Tinubu is your second god. Take a bow, as you celebrate your empty philosophy... Bourdillon Road has two areas, that are popularly called 1st and 2nd Bourdillon. Ask anyone familiar with that axis. But, I will forgive your ignorance as you have obviously never stepped foot in that area before... |

If no be lion we go call that one, what else do we call him.......... And you believe that picture shows the whole of Bourdillon road? In what part of Bourdillon exactly, did he take that picture? Dino is NOT a lion. It is an insult to true lions, if you compare Dino with them. Maybe you need to take another look into the dictionary to see the attributes of a lion and compare it with what Dino represents. He is nothing but a pretentious empty loud-mouthed barrel! |
