Don't you realise that the DISCOs make more money when you do not have a pre-paid meter? Then they can issue all kinds of crazy figures as estimated bills, to cover your purported consumption. Cunny man die, cunny man bury am....

Before you increase tariff Mr Minister and his proponents, have you considered the minimum wage of Nigerians?

In the UK as at 2015 January, the minimum wage for the least worker (let's say, cleaners) was £1'387.87 that's equivalent to #320, 000 in naira.

Can you imagine the discrepancy? Compared to #19800

So if they pay an individual pays an average of £100 per month for power (including heating which we don't need as much) in London.. Thats about #22,500 naira.. How much should a nigerian collecting #19800 pay?

So if at the end of the day, the oil and gas companies lack enough resources to pay their staff (especially in light of the dwindling oil prices that keeps falling on a daily basis), they should fold their arms and continue to carry a huge workforce whose salaries they cannot meet? Will Ngige now step in to pay their workers, from his pocket?

Also let us know how many on that list have folded up and the number of those that are fully operational. The ball is in your court!

There is no complexity involved. It is either you have trained hands or you don't. Even the so-called trained hands
cannot be trusted in my opinion because there are no checks and balances. Physicians in developed worlds are faced with
malpractice lawsuits that keep them in check against going off-grid. But without such oversight in Nigeria, going to these places
is like playing Russian roulette with one's life. You must understand that Nigerians have poor attitude to serious issues especially
the ones that will not provide immediate financial gratification with minimal effort.

Each BDC by law has a minimum of 3 directors, some have more, especially during the last recapitalization of July 2014, people pulled resources together. Then they all must have an Encasher with Biometrics with CBN, you must have a back up in your own interest for any unforseen event.
Then do you know the myriads of reports they do daily, weekly etc, who does that and if there is an inspection by regulators who liases with them?

Stop confusing licensed BDCs with black market street traders.

And yes they all have, Auditors, bankers and solicitors because it's a regulated business.
So an estimated 10 people are tied to one BDC, Abcon chairman is right in his assertion.

They conveniently didn't highlight the mallams who in fact are the greater majority of BDC operators, and they ignored the bank managers who often throw slush funds their way.

No real person from Calabar town or province has to by force tell you that they are that, as their post or commentary infers where they are from or live.

Also, if you check well, Calabar, though a promising town, has no international airport, no major highway system, no world class hotel chain, resorts, universities, medical centers, malls, etc. Yes, there is Obudu and Tinapa and some development, but for the most part, it is at best, the 3rd or 4th best town in the "Nigerian Republic".
