yak: thank you. one more thing! is anything wrong with building a 3 bedroom apartment with only 6" blocks only? use 9inches block for the external walls and use 6 inches for the partitions |
Properties › Re: Construction Of A Twin 2 Bedroom Bungalow In Ibadan by tevanso(op): 8:00pm On Jul 27, 2017 |
yak: so, I can just use concrete to cover the block holes round and about. especially the external walls? u can only do that for the interior walls meanwhile u have to block part of the holes with rubbles before casting to avoid waste of materials |

genkins: @ tevanso..so far u are the only one on this forum that has come up with the best solution regarding how to remedy building a house without dpc so far.I hope its practicable cos I did not do dpc or DPM but have floored tho yet to tile.ur option would suggest I break the flooring,or better still increase my floor level by 4inches..am I right? break the interior part of the block so that the concrete u are going to cast can enter inside the block and block the hole . |

sometimes I laff on how people rush to give quote on a half brief.
1.The type of land either water logged or dry is not specified
2.The taste of the Op's finishing is not stated
3.The duration he wants it done
4.The location is not stated
All these factors and more will determine the cost of the building. |

EgunMogaji: Won't this be compromising the credibility of the wall? the breaking will be on one layer of the block, which will be filled up with concrete. |

valacious: If at beginning of a building you skipped German floor due to cash constraints, what can you do to remedy the consequences you talked about when you are now financially buoyant, just before flooring and completing the house? what u need to do is to break the lower part of the block so that the concrete can enter inside the block to cover up the void and make the thickness of the concrete at least 4inches .I think u will understand what i am trying to explain. |

filcast: Thanks for this. How did you arrive at 6400 blocks? Is it 9in, 6in, hollow or solid? What about iron rods for the pillars? Angled block? Also how many tonnes of granite/sand make up a truck. I arrived at that no from my calculation, 9 inches hollow block, the pillars will be made up of blocks.tell the person supplying u sand the amount of tonnes u want |

klark3: Nice analysis. how many coach did u use sir? but i am not seeing any provision for water. that thing can gulp money if provision like borehole or well isn't made. All these GP tanks will just turn buckets when work starts. 10 courses of blocks .digging of well or borehole preferably, I don't like the idea of buying water for site work |
