What I will tell u as a builder is, if u can afford to buy land and can still afford to build a house, what difference in price should stop you from going for 9inches for ur building foundation. Structurally 9inches blocks gives a stable Strength to withstand any load coming on it. What is worth doing is worth doing well. Any day any time, I won't advice anyone to use 6inches for foundation. Though it will carry the load now, but with time, it will start telling on it . Build right . Seek for professional advice.

You can not imagine building a storey building with 6inches(throughout) block 12mm steel road for columns.

I swear entering some build in Benin, Edo State is like"Eferevor" ...u go wond ooo.

its the clients that are always not willing to pay Engineers . i left a project at airport road last year because the client stopped paying for supervision. He later start begging after the bricklayers messed up the job for him. That serves them right.

Recently, I have chosen to put a decking above the living room. My concern is whether this would be doable, considering the fact that the columns already erected were done without consideration for the new decking above the living room. And if this is feasible, what are the best way to go about it?

invite a professional to the site to observe and give u solution. U might need to introduce new pillars .

My junior brother is currently handling it, but I only just found out that he has been eating my money. Please I need an engineer who can supervise it. The whole process has taken so much money already. I spoke to ChekitAut who is in to selling of building materials and he advice me to post here and I will see members who will be willing to help, he also said my brother has done a very bad job you can see it from the first picture uploaded here. Just have a look at the quotes my brother sent to me. The last quote for decking made me to reconsider the whole process and I was thinking of stopping the project until I met chekitaut online. for examples , if u want bungalow now, l will advised u to used 1/3 for it , because it wont carry more load. But when we are talking about duplex, u know it, it will carry load, it will need to strong than bungalow, even for my side my peoples are using graful lower than the granite. For there bungalow, l mean for blinding,

No Sir that is not the point. U need a smaller size of granite if u are casting something like lintel and column in order for the output of the finished concrete surface to come out fine. While u need a bigger size of granite for casting of oversight concretes, (German floor) retaining walls, concrete slabs in order to give u more strength .

look for a trusted person to farm on the land . or farm on the land urself , pay someone to do it for u .

Hello fellow Nairalanders, please am concerned about my building project in port harcourt, the building has swallowed almost 4M and we haven't even started the oversite concrete, the building is 21.71m X 11.58m. so far we are filling the backfilling the rooms and getting ready to start oversite concrete slab. Note: this is a 4 unit of 2 bedroom all ensuite. should the cost be upto what it has taken? i am not in the country, could it be that something is not right? please i need advice.

get an external person to over see what is happening on ur site. Let him go once in a while and see what is Being done.
