Segunrusell: thank you so much for the response, my uncle actually said the same thing but this engineer is always doing this to us. Inflating everything and telling us it’s not easy to work from upper floor that if it is a bungalow it’s different case entirely. How much is good for the workmanship. I’m thinking of telling him 120 or max 130k where is the project Sir. |

Labragadaya: Pls I just registered this handle to avoid any form of backlash, here's my issue I graduated in 2015 and I've been doing several things to keep body and soul together. How ever, late this year I got a teaching job in my states Civil service. The pay is somewhere BTW 45 to 50k and my place of assignment is in a rural area. Pls also note that I do not have an education certificate which if I do not acquire soonest might cost me some years in promotions and maybe my job eventually . On the other hand, I would like to pursue and build my career in the discipline I studied in school (a technical inclined course)and also further my education here (masters degree) which might provide me with better job opportunities and my teaching job provides ample time for this . Well, the cause of my present dilemma is this - Recently, I got shortlisted for a job as a contract staff in a bank. I have just been deployed and I've been directed to resume within the week. The pay is around 85k per month plus other benefits. Right now, I am confused if I should stick with the govt teaching job or I should go for the contract bank work which initially is for a period of 1 year after which it might be renewed (dicey). Pls I need the advice of people who have been in my shoe or in it currently? Which do I go for? What do I do? lala pls move to front page lalasticlala accept the teaching job and use it to further ur education. when u are done. u can decide weather to stay on look for another opportunity |

cindybaby22: Is the bold more essential than chain lintel? Why is everyone always talking about chain lintel and none is talking about this roof beam structurally, the roof beam helps in transferring roof loads down to the foundation with the help of the pillars. |

bixton: **Because of over zealous engineers/builders/artisans once there's a crack on the wall they will attribute it to the impartial chaining of lintel.
** It reduces clients fear in circumstances when there is need to modify the structure(breaking of walls or recreating something else).
** The chaining of internal walls acts like an opposing force that balances that on the external walls when all are properly linked. I think that will be good for those who can flex their financial muscle very well not for kobo kobo build as Alhaji will say. But doing short lintels internally too is not structurally bad if you can't afford to chain all . But most importantly roof beam is very essential. |

klark3: Thanks for ur reply So much appreciate But what about the pillars like someone who quoted me stated. Can i terminate them at chain lintel level or the can be taken to roof level without the roof beam? leave the pillar till roof beam . you can do short lintel and do roof beam. It is the roof beam that will transfer the load of the roof to the foundation. |

bixton: There are several reasons for doing a roof beam but given cost cutting .............
Option 1.... Do chain lintel on external walls and on any major wall cutting the building if there is. You can do short lintel on internal walls.
Option 2..... Do chain lintel on all internal and external walls of the building.
N/B: Due to clips used in holding the wall plate onto the wall, please kindly inform your engineer/builder, carpenter to liaise with the iron bender to cut quarter rods(it has different thickness) of appropriate length to be fastened unto the lintel before you pour your concrete. Ensure the length cut is sufficient depending on number of blocks you intend putting after the lintel works. what is your reason for chaining internal walls |

Hoephase: I don't think you put some thoughts in your statement.
Yes it is a school guided by rules and regulations. Does the regulations state that public shaming is the punishment for not dressing as prescribed in the school dress code?
Secondly, she looks like a teen this is a critical period in her developmental phase, I believe the school should have had a private talk with the mom and daughter, and let them understand that such is not acceptable.
While in the principle office she should be made to take it off and serve her punishment quietly.
Publicly humiliating her does nothing but exposes the school to law suits. are u sure it wasn't the mother that escalated everything |

diordaves: The same with me, I've never paid for granite before delivery so I was kind of surprised in a number of ways when this came up. Surprised that clients pay for granite before delivery and super surprised that checkitaut is this indeciplined to be caught out in this mess. This has exposed him as a middle man he so much preached against. To be honest, there is nothing wrong being a middle man but be deciplined enough to deliver.
If he's a direct supplier, all the excuses he gave for messing up, his union would have sorted out such eventualities. In Delta and Edo States, Road Safety or Police don't disrupt logistics that much. The Union work this out.
It's a shame though because I'm planning on engaging him after the festive period next year for a factory construction project in Ibadan but I guess I now need to go back to the Board of Directors for a revised plan. So the question is this: Can i use use 6 inch Flats(hole-less blocks) to build a storey building from the foundation to the decking level? will those blocks works or i need 9 inch blocks all through? The builder said 6 inches hole-less blocks will work. I need expert suggestions please.
Thanks Use 9 inches for your external walls because of the pillars. The sizes of the pillars shouldn't be less than 9 inches for safety purpose. Meanwhile do a proper structural design to guide u |

My engineer advised I build my tank stand on the septic / soak away tank we are about to construct. He said we will only need 4pcs of 16mm to reinforce the water tank stand pillar from inside the ground to the top(where d water tank will be placed). And 12mm rods will be used for other things like underground pillars, first chaining, second chaining and the slab. Please is this best way to go about it? God bless you as you drop your comments / advices. bros even when ur engineer tells u its safe, please if there is land, do them separately |
